Because some of the group had shown the bartender IDs from Mexico, they assumed that the bartender thought the IDS were fake. They instead just asked for some water while they continued to wait, but the bartender also refused to give them water. He then told some other guests sitting at the bar something about not wanting to serve "illegals", and the person sitting there said something along the lines of "don't sell to Mexicans.
