This Lucky Chinese Restaurant has one of the most generic Chinese restaurant names around, OK, besides Lucky garden or some kinda garden. Name aside, it's located a little off the main traveled ways of Red Bluff, but not really worth going out of you way. It's best to stay with the Chinese joints on Main St or Highway 36. The food here is exactly what you'd expect in small town Chinese places, all the same standard dishes like general chicken, egg rolls, fried rice and chow mein. That kind of food can be good too when properly prepared, but sadly this is not the case with this Lucky Restaurant. The food lacks character and flavor, though it looks fine. I guess the place sells what the demand is for here, so they keep on keepin on. It does in a pinch is about all I can say. read more

Good solid Chinese food. The foil wrapped chicken had no business being that good but it was. My husband sayid the cream cheese wontons were the best he's ever had. We got a family meal. Came with a plate of appetizers, one for each of us, and 2 main dishes with a side of white rice, and a bowl of soup to start. Good prices and delicious food. We left full and happy. Horrible food! Bought lunch for all my co workers and everyone threw it away after a couple bites. Tasted like leftovers that they heated up and added more spices to try to hide the rotten food. My wife IS Chinese, so poor Chinese food is not something she will tolerate. This particular place, ad an excellent offering, wonderfully friendly staff who engaged my wife in her native Mandarin and helped greatly to make her feel welcome. First time here, I ordered something that wasn't on the menu without me knowing, but they made it for me and didn't mention it! That's pretty amazing in my book. The food I ordered was very tasty, seasoned very well. The wontons were perfect also. Only one star off from 5 because I asked for a side of hot mustard when I was there to get my order. Then when it came out I asked if the hot mustard was in the bag, server said yes, but there wasn't. This really pissed me off but the food is good enough to order here again. read more

Just moved to the area and we were looking for a new Chinese place... This is probably the one! Haven't tried others yet but this place delivers (figuratively speaking, dunno if they actually deliver lol). Amazing food, cute family that is kind that owns the place....fast hot food. We got the food to go and it was amazing. My boyfriend used to complain about the old place we used to go to where we used to live, because he would ask for the Mongolian beef to be spicy, but it was never spicy... If you get the hot pork at this place... It's got a kick! Needless to say my boyfriend approved :) chow mein is good, fried rice bomb, but my FAVORITE is the foil wrapped chicken. Not a whole lot of places make these anymore, and if it were me, I'd just order a plate of those bad boys with some rice and be gooooood. Best Chinese restaurant in town! We ordered several bowls of wonton noodle soup, the portions were generous, the soup broth tasted really delicious and had a very authentic taste. It also had many wonton dumplings, chicken, and vegetables. Our kind waitress recommended us the Mongolian beef and we were very glad we took her suggestion! The portion size were very generous as well and the beef was very tender and fresh, the sauce was very good, along with the vegetables and complemented well with the beef. Just ordered the pecan prawns. Wow huge order and so delicious. I love walnut prawns but pecan is my new favorite. I also got chicken chow mein and egg rolls. My husband and I tried this restaurant for the first time since moving to Red Bluff in June of this year. The service was slow, the boy sitting at the front desk didn't budge didn't even say hello. One server she was doing double duty both with serving and with take out orders. There were 2 other tables full. I had the Orange chicken, with rice/noodles and egg roll. It was very good but a touch too heavy on the sauce side. Food was fresh and hot. The egg drop soup was delicious. We will definately come here again. I would have given 5 starts had the service been a a little faster and the orange chicken would have been just a touch less gooey with sauce. This restaurant - since it's on the outskirts of downtown Red Bluff - probably caters mostly to locals. Enjoyed my General Chicken meal - very tender, flavorful, and a generous portion. Dinner entrees could easily be a (small) meal for two, and two dishes would satisfy three diners. The only problem I had with Lucky Chinese was that it is extremely noisy. It might be the poor acoustics because there were only about 6 other tables occupied, and there wasn't any annoying music that you needed to talk over, yet everyone seem to need to TALK VERY LOUDLY. Plus that was one large party with clueless parents and several annoying children who felt the need to bang their silverware against the table. But my rating is based solely on the quality of my meal. read more

I moved to the Red Bluff area a little over 3 years ago, and I had not yet found a Chinese food restaurant yet that found to have flavorful food. The others I had tried were ok, but bland. I'm not sure why I hadn't tried Lucky earlier, I think it may be the location, but I'm really glad I tried it last night. I got a dinner combo plate with Kung Pao chicken, fried rice, and chow mein and it did not disappoint! All was flavorful and the serving was HUGE. Also came with a spring roll and fortune cookie. We call in our order and pick it up and my husband and I can order one dish and we will have enough food for dinner and lunch the next day for both of us. The staff is always very friendly and accommodating to special orders. The price is very reasonable for the amount of food you get. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. I gave it four stars because, while most of the dishes I've tried are good, there have been a couple that are just okay. read more

Went there to have dinner with my boyfriends family. It was good. We started with cream cheese wantons and pork pot stickers. The wantons were so freaking good. They were perfect!! The pot stickers were okay I have had better. They just were not as crunch as I like them. For the main dishes my boyfriend and his sister got they Mongolian chicken, his mom had the black bean chicken, his sister's boyfriend got the teryaki chicken, and I had the Szchwan pork w/o the Hoisen sauce because of an allergy. My boyfriend did not get the combo and I found out why. OMG the amount of food you get is overwhelming. I ate until I rolled and it looked like did not even eat very much. My boyfriend ate all of his. So did his sister, she was 7 months pregnant at the time. She ate all of her food, most of the pot stickers, most of the wantons, and part of her moms food.
