I was really wishing this place was worth it but it wasn't. For positives: -The staff was nice and the place was relatively clean. For the negatives: -Doesn't appear there was AC. It was 100 outside and just humidity and hot inside as well. Very uncomfortable. -Ordered 2 boba milk teas. It was like drinking watered down milk with a slightly toxic weird flavor. It did not taste good. -Ordered 2 shrimp fried rice bowls. The rice was old and seemed like it'd been reheated. (My husband is Filipino. I know what fresh rice and fried rice tastes and looks like. This was NOT) The shrimp had been boiled. Not fried. -Also ordered a thing of the crab wontons. They were very rubbery and stale. Overall it was very disappointing. Will not be eating there on our way back home. Side note: I probably would have gotten a combo but all the food on their food line was dried out and looked like it had been sitting all day. I was charging my rental Tesla in the parking lot, and Starbucks had a long line. I saw this place had Boba tea, which I enjoy, so I came in here instead. The place is clean and everybody was friendly. The food is on a cafeteria type line, you just pick out what you want, and then they serve it to you and you take it to your table. I can't speak to the main dishes, themselves, as I just came in for a Boba tea. I did see that they also had wontons on the line, so I also did an order of wontons as a snack. The wontons were wonderfully crispy, and not greasy at all, and they were very generous with the portion. I liked the sweet-and-sour sauce, it was sweet and just a little bit tangy. I had the Matcha milk tea, it was creamy and had a wonderful flavor. It's hard to describe the flavor of Matcha, but I do like it. It was a bit sweet, and just a bit savory. They asked me if I wanted the Boba pearls, which I did because I like them a lot, and they were very generous with them. A milk tea and an order of wontons was only nine bucks. Extremely reasonable. The service was incredibly slow. The restaurant was packed and DoorDash was flowing in and out as well. A party of 3 was seated next to us and the man was visibly under the influence. He was loud and was making odd gestures. The staff seemed unaware. We ended up asking for our food to go. I was not offered any compensation after I explained the situation. Asian Garden is located in the little off the freeway town of Corning about 20 min south of Red Bluff. It makes a convenient stop for some Chinese food off the 5 freeway if that's what you're in the mood for. The restaurant is set up more like a fast food cafeteria serving Chinese food. Most of the food is already made cooked and in steam trays, like a buffet, except you don't serve yourself here. You pay by the box of food that they will fill for you with whatever dish you like. At least you get to see the food before you pick what to eat ... some of the trays weren't filled too well and some food looked fresher cooked than others, so pick what you want. Prices are pretty cheap, under $10 for a box stuffed full of food, and that box weighs a lot! I got the kung pow chicken, I think that's what it was, I just pointed to what I wanted and the rest of the box stuffed with noodles and fried rice. There isn't a lot in Corning . That's not a great way to start a review, but it kind of puts things in perspective. The owner and counter staff are super nice in this fast food chinese takeout place. They have a counter with all the food visible, and you take it yourself right to your seat. The folks were so nice, that I wanted to give them a good review. However, the entrées and sides are just ok. The chow mein noodles are spaghetti, and most of the flavors come from sauce, not cooking technique. Their actual best dish isn't even Chinese. I tried a taste of their Indian butter chicken, and it was delicious. I should've gotten that. The flavors are fine, and the portions are filling. If you're craving Chinese food while stopping on the five freeway, this should do the trick. Hopefully they take some constructive criticism, and up their game a just a bit. read more

These were pretty good. 4/5 - Poke Bowl: I like how you just mark what you want on the form and they make it for you. I chose mixed greens with brown rice as a base, then topped it with spicy tuna and shrimp, crabmeat salad, avocado, seaweed salad, cucumbers, jalapeños, furikake, crispy onions, and sesame seeds with house sauce and spicy mayo. This was pretty good and very filling. 4.5/5 SERVICE: Friendly. I liked that they made some of the items to order. The walnut shrimp and orange chicken were fresh. I will admit that I did not like this place the first time that we went here, but after visiting more often my mind may have changed. The Chinese food is good, but not spectacular. It is freshly prepared and has a good flavor profile. The staff is incredibly friendly, polite, and efficient. The bathrooms were extremely clean and stocked. The food at this place was excellent under that last owner. Sadly, the restaurant was sold recently. Now the food here is not just bad it is HORRIFIC! The chow mein will burn your mouth due to the abundant amount of black or white pepper in it! The salmon poke bowls contain sad old salmon that tastes "off", and other menu items are greasy. We were so disappointed as we were looking forward to a special treat. What we were "treated" to was a $44 bill for 2 tragic poke bowls and 1 small container of chow mein (including a tip). I gave this place a another try and it's not good Chinese, I had the mushroom chicken and kungpao chicken meal, the mushrooms dish needed more salt, the kungpao had a weird sweet taste to it and the rice and noodles are very bland. I noticed that they did add 3 sushi rolls to the menu, I got the shrimp crunch roll to try, that was good. I would only come back for that roll, I hope they add more rolls to the menu. read more

We stopped by here to grab some Chinese food. I went with a combo plate with 2 items. The mushroom chicken was delicious! The chicken was tender and flavorful. The mixed vegetables tasted ok. Hubby and I have been going here since they've opened. Kimberly is one hard working lady and very personable. Portions are pretty good size, but they do offer many different sizes. The menu also changes which is nice. There's the classic Chinese dishes such as garlic chicken, orange chicken, Mongolian beef, etc. Some nice changes from time to time are butter chicken (slightly different than Indian, but good), Tonkatsu, sautéed eggplant. Poke bowl is really fresh and tasty, you customize it with what you want. The best and freshest Poke I've ever eaten. I've not found a place with such fresh poke. There's only one size but it's a good portion. Mongolian beef is nice and spicy as is the King Pao Chicken. The soups, chicken corn chowder and hot and sour soups are classic and tasty as well. . Boba drinks are not super sweet like other boba drinks I have at other places. The Taro milk tea is good as are the other flavors. Overall this place is definitely a must try for Poke, soups and other Asian dishes. Most are made very fresh and never sitting getting stale. This is my favorite stop in Corning! There seems to be a lot of negative feedback about their chow mein. I actually thought it was delicious and liked the used of spaghetti type noodles because it holds it better with sauce and veggies. I got it with their chicken teriyaki which is amazing! I was so surprised by how good it was. My partner got beef and broccoli with fried rice which he really enjoyed. He just wished that there were was more beef. We also got the egg drop soup. It was a 105 degree day and this thing was soooo good. I was sweating eating it but was so worth it. We were on our way to Shasta Lake and I was craving for Chinese food. So we stopped by this place. I thought it was just another mediocre Chinese fast food. To my surprise, their food is just fresh as a normal dine-in restaurant and the portion is decent. My daughter and I shared a 2 entrees fried rice with broccoli beef and green been pork (I took the photo almost half way). When we ordered the same at Panda Express, we always had to do add another item. My husband ordered pineapple honey shrimp. It's golden crispy! They also have poke bowls that look very fresh.
