Shared lunch with mom Pork fried rice was delicious and perfect Chicken chow mein - was pretty good I added some chili to it for a little more flavor Egg roll is standard but good and hot Egg flower soup was good and veggies had a nice crunch which was great because I don't like soggy!! Mu Shu Pork was the hit for me! I will try it again for sure. Loved the flavors and crunch of the cabbage and mix of veggies! I rolled one and added some of the hosin sauce they gave! Authentic Americanized Chinese food; generous portions and decent prices. Ambiance interior was pretty clean. Helpful nice staff and a few spoke mandarin. Service was incredibly great and food arrived instantly. Szechuan Mongolian Beef with rice and vegetables were super tender. Hot tea came out fresh and Steamed bbq pork buns and sesame balls were the best! Certainly dining here again when I visit Chico, CA eventually. read more

The food was delicious! The lunch special had so much food. The crab and cream cheese wontons were absolutely amazing. The potstickers are handmade and a very good size but the flavor was wonderful with the sauce. We loved the Hunan chicken! And the sweet and sour dishes were great. I have been going to Happy Garden Restaurant for years. I especially love their pot stickers, hot and sour soup, Mongolian beef and walnut shrimp. The portions are large, the takeout service is quick and dependable, and everyone is very polite. Note that I always do takeout so don't have any input on table service. I used to love eating Happy Garden, but our recent " take out" was a bummer! We ordered 2 Kung Pao Chicken dinners, to go being super fans of Kung Pao Chicken and eating it for years from Happy Garden. 10 miles to get home, we open up our dinners, and the taste is bla-bland. No spice, no Szechaun peppers present, it was plain chicken, with NO snap like we love from Happy Garden. I was clear with the lady, I think the cook messed up! Our orders from Panda have way better flavor! $55 for 3 plain chicken dishes with chow mein was very disappointing. Came here since it was 3rd on Chicos "BEST OF CHICO" top 3. Got there a little bit before closing. The owner wasn't very friendly, and she really rushed us. Would have preferred her to tell us that we were too late. Food was ok...Was hoping to be more impressed. We did the special that came with multiple items. I'm sorry I hate being this person, but this was the most aweful chineese food I have eaten in a very long time. For the same price as other places in town it was super skimpy and just not of great quality. I've tried going back here 3 times now in the past 10 years do to similar issues and everytime it gets worse. Sorry Happy Garden, but I will never comeback into your restaurant. You live and you learn im just saying, fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice shame on you, fool me a third time... I'm just a dumb ass. They didn't mind questions, made great recommendations, and altered dishes to preference without a fuss. We ordered the Mongolian fish and Chow Fun. They were both SO good.
