LOL, had to get one.

We had some time to kill and so decided to peruse around Little Tokyo and stumbled upon this shop…read more They had a TON of fun Japanese gift items and decor like stationary, postcards, kitchenware, maneki nekos, origami paper, and so much more. They also had a lot of traditional items/supplies for tea ceremonies, calligraphy, and kimonos. I had fun looking through all the items as it brought me back to our summer in Japan. Apparently they have a long standing history in LA, having opened in 1946 after World War II. The shop occupies the site of the first Japanese-owned business in Los Angeles, circa 1890's. Pretty cool! I have a soft spot for everything animal shaped and soo.... I picked up a fun/odd felt tiger Christmas ornament, a cat pen, and a super cute bronze cat shaped spoon that hangs on the side of your cup. Did I need it? No.... but it's fun and makes me happy. Haha! Overall, great shop to browse around and find some unique gift items. They even wrap up your purchases in paper bags like they do in Japan. I LOVE IT!

The ultimate luxury vintage experience--even from afar!…read more I have been sourcing unique vintage and pre-owned luxury pieces for years, and Recess LA / Recess Beverly Hills has quickly become my absolute favorite boutique to buy from. Buying high-end pre-owned fashion online can sometimes feel daunting, but the team at Recess makes the entire process completely effortless and reliable. Their inventory is breathtaking--from hard-to-find mid-century accessory treasures and iconic designer footwear to rare runway classics. The quality, condition, and curation of their assortment are remarkable. Every item arrives impeccably packaged, in wonderful condition, and shipped so quickly. What truly elevates Recess to the top tier of luxury shopping, however, is their customer service. Courtney has been an absolute pleasure to work with over email. She is exceptionally attentive, knowledgeable, friendly, and thorough. Whether answering (my numerous) specific questions about sizing, materials, shipping, or any other details before a purchase, she provides the kind of personalized white-glove service you rarely find anymore. I am head over heels for every single piece I have purchased from them. If you love authentic, pristine vintage and world-class boutique service, Recess is an absolute must!"

She has a very good eye and knows what will sell. Their bookkeeping is honest and her share of the commission is fair at 50/50. The Crossroads Trading company in Santa Monica offered me $5 for a beautiful pair of Purple Label Ralph Lauren boots. I declined their offer. Recess sold them within a month of getting them from me and sent me a check for $150.
