Don't tempt me with Chicago style food in Naples because I'm def going to be there. Service was quick and food was fresh. Y'all know I'm the fry queen so fresh cut fries are hands down my favorite thing ever and they did not disappoint. However...the Italian beef totally missed the mark. I asked for it to be dipped which is a Chicago thing and the guy (owner) was confused. Ok no prob. But the beef was so bland that even giardiniera couldn't save it.

Two person operation with the owner being one of the workers. This is a total throwback place. Walk up order no seating inside and get your food through a window. Loved it. Lucky Dawgs 1 started out as a food cart located at big box hardware store. Not sure how they got to this building but Hurricane Irma had a lot to do with it. When I ordered I was asked for here or to go. I wanted it for here since I am not putting Chicago Style hotdogs with their raw onions and seasoning in my car. Mrs. K's car yes mine no. :) I just ordered two Chicago Style hotdogs with a diet coke. They came out fast hot and ready. They had the atomic relish, sport peppers, raw onions, sliced pickle, and season salt, and mustard. The only option I did not get was tomato. One thing that really got me was these two women working in South Florida with no air-conditioning. Real hard workers for sure. This is a bit far from my house but it's not like you drive an hour to get here.

Ok, here goes... Mind you, this is my second time coming here. Not going to count the first as I wanted to give them another shot.... But like my check in stated.... Came for a hot dog and all of a sudden am not feeling so lucky...Now I was greeted by a young 11 year old who was helping out and tried to take my order. That is probably the best part. Hope this young man continues to work hard as he was eager and all over the place wanting to help. Once you get there you will notice all of the Vienna signs. So I knew it was Chicago style. Not my cup of tea, but anyway....My first question was do you have any other type of hot dogs. I was hoping a Sabrett, or any other natural casing dog. But no dice. They proceeded to tell me they had a jumbo, ok let's go for it. My first issue is they bring a hot dog that was FROZEN, I mean it had ice chips on it and they throw it right on the grill. It took all of 10 minutes to cook on that grill. When I finally get it, it has green peppers, onions and mustard on it.. wait, what??? I did not ask for this. Then it was on a poppy seeded bun. Did not ask for that either. I was so annoyed, I scrapped the peppers and onions and put some mustard on it. First bite? I realized the bun must've been frozen too. That thing was tough. Charred dog, tough bread. Pic attached. No luck here...

A simple scan of my review history will reveal that I am a big fan of Chicago style Italian beef sandwiches. My gold bar standard through which all others are judged is Johnnie's Beef 8n Chicago which is not only my favorite Italian beef place, but one of my favorite restaurants, period. So when I saw this place as I was scanning restaurants in my new hometown, I was excited to give it a try. I ordered what I normally order when I go to an Italian beef place. A beef and Italian sausage combo with hot & sweet peppers dipped. I'm happy to report that this place, largely, came through. I would describe the sandwich as "above average." The beef itself was tasty, I really liked the sausage, the bread was "right," and the peppers were decent. First off, the sandwich was big enough & messy enough that it couldn't just be lifted up and eaten. This required silverware & a lot of napkins. Perfect! I think the sausage was the best component of sandwich. Nice spiciness & cooked up right. I didn't love the giardinara peppers used on this sandwich. Probably my only real gripe. Other than that, the sandwich was pretty spot on. I also had a couple bites of the polish. It comes with grilled onions and sport peppers on a poppy seed bun. The one I tried was dressed with yellow mustard. I enjoyed it as well, but nowhere near as much as the beef. They have pretty much every other staple you'd expect from a Chicago place. The prices were cheap & the turnaround time on the food was quick. It's nice to find a solid place like this for when the craving hits. Definitely recommend.

When you want to be super casual and feel satisfied. I'm so happy I finally stopped in for a dog and some chili fries. Can a lot be expected out of a hot dog? Absolutely. All the wickets were nailed and I drove home in bliss. Actually I'm still smiling thinking about that afternoon of how much joy I felt knowing I have this wonderful gem a short drive away, because there are days I don't want to get dressed up nor drive far to only be disappointed by mediocre food and overpaying.

Ok hear me out.... Chili cheese fries! I have not been to this place in YEARS!!! I cannot believe what I have been missing lol. I wanted a juicy burger for dinner tonight, so I decided something different. I do not regret it! The burgers were nicely grilled and the Chili cheese fries were AMAZING! Being a true foodie from Chicago. I write about great pizza, hamburgers, and hotdogs and italian beef. Boy do I wish they had a location in north Naples or south Bonita Beach. John has captured all the goodness and freshness and flavor I have missed. Had the hotdog very simple. Really wanted to taste that Vienna Hot dog that I miss. Delicious. So what else. John showed me the huge Italian beef he makes daily. Had to have it with sweet peppers and his own giardiniera. He promised it wouldn't be too 'hot'. Well it does have a nice bite and I had it on the side. The roll, the quantity and quality of the meat were as good if not better than AL's Beef or Mr. Beef. Maybe as good as Johnny's Beef for those in the know. Gene & Jude's fries are the number 1 fries in the USA. Lucky Dawg's are just as good. Stop bye and say hi to John. Tell him Skip the Burgermaven sent you. He might give you a slice of his italian beef. read more

Stopped here on our way home to Tampa. What a great little stop. The polish sausage and chili cheese dogs were tremendous. The chicken wings were a surprise delight. Alisha, the woman taking orders and cooking, although by herself, was fast, efficient and very pleasant. Also, she made a killer chocolate malt. She was awesome. My Family and my Grandfather absolutely loves this place! My Parents and my grandpa loved because it reminds them of food they use to eat all the time when they lived in Illinois! The hot Italien beef sandwich is the best that me and my family ever had plus my all time favorite is the double cheeseburger and their shakes are delicious! Newly opened hot dog stand in GG City. Didn't see inside seating but there's an outside counter. Ordered two hot dogs (Chi & plain) and 1 order of fries. My Chi dog did not disappoint it was delicious the toppings were fresh and crisp. Didn't expect much from the fries but WOW they are the home style type freshly made only sorry I didn't get two orders. Looks like they are setup for grilled hamburgers and shakes I'll try that next time, and get my own order of fries LOL. read more

Great find. I had their double cheeseburger with everything on it. It was as close to a back yard burger as you are going to get in Naples. Most places have a fast food flavor to there burgers, not here. Forget 5 guys this place is much better. read more

Had a quick chat with the owner/operator Brittany (not sure if spelled right), who had an outgoing personality with an obvious love for beef franks too. Before the line grew too big, I ordered a regular beef hot dog from the simple easy to read menu. Philly Cheese Steaks and Italian Sausages seem to be hot sellers too, but my gut was growling for a regular dog as a pre-lunch hold over meal. Before I could take out my cash from my wallet, the warm dog was in my hand. I peered at this loaded dog that was generously topped with relish and onion - with a squirt of spicy mustard for an added kick. It was devoured in only three big bites and was exactly was my belly needed. At only $4.00 it was the bomb. Now I could understand why the line was growing every minute. I originally wanted to try the chili, but also wanted to sample the hot dog, so I figured a chili dog was one way to go. To my surprise, it was excellent. Everything tasted fresh, served quickly, and spot on. The fries were cooked perfectly--crispy on the outside and hot on the inside. I tried the beef sandwich, and they definitely don't skimp on the meat. If you come hungry, this place won't disappoint. Overall, a great experience. I decided to try the crab cake, and I'm so glad I did. I grew up on the East Coast eating crab, and I've had my fair share -- I've long held that Phillips in Maryland made the gold standard. I am happy to report that Captain & Crew has dethroned them in my book. This crab cake was pure lump crab meat, not overpowered by fillers or seasoning. You could actually taste the crab. The accompaniments they served alongside it elevated the whole dish even further. Thoroughly impressed. The wine pairings were equally well-curated. I took the staff's recommendations and they absolutely nailed it. A heads-up for first-timers: parking is the one small challenge. There's no convenient lot right there, so you may need to use a parking garage and walk over. Honestly? Embrace it. If you're already in Downtown Naples, it's a beautiful stroll that perfectly sets the mood before you arrive. Captain & Crew is a true hidden gem. Fortunately, our server noticed we were struggling and she offered to help navigate us through our meal. Our goal was to sample a variety of options, but not to over order. And we accomplished just that! We started with some Stone Crabs, then some Peel & Eat Shrimp, then my wife and I shared an entree of Blackened Grouper with sides of fries and coleslaw, where we also added a few scallops. Delicious! We thought we were done, but our server informed us of the excellent Key Lime pie. We had room to share one slice, and we are so happy we did! It was excellent.
