This experience was somewhere between "meh" and "ok". I was curious so went for lunch. I wanted a quick grab and got a waitress who wanted to play 20 questions beyond "basic cup of chili to go". No cheese, no onions, no beans, smallest chili, no sides, no combos. She still threw hot sauce packets into the order. That was my first turn-off. Parking was 2nd-crowded, small area. The chili has no beans in it, so with 5-way, you add beans and onions. The portion is small, but I'm sure will be filling. The guy asked me if I wanted to try a sample and it was flavorful, very thin, mildly spicy, but it makes sense to add lots more to it to customize it to your liking. The service was very attentive and friendly. This seems kind of like fast food to me. This is at the end of a strip mall. As I mentioned with this being more of a fast food place; that is the dining type of experience to expect. I definitely do not miss my road warrior days, being in airports, hotels, having to order every meal in a rush....I don't eat at fast food restaurants pretty much almost 100%. Either way, if you do go here, be careful driving into the parking lot because there is a steep dip...Also, just to save time and hassle, I would eat there because there was a lot of assembly involved. Once I got it assembled having added all 7 hot sauce packets (each has a droplet of hot sauce in them, but it tastes super good/red tabasco peppers are used - I love Tabasco sauce, but surprisingly enough I never knew there was a pepper with that name!). The to go bag included the freshly grated cheese of which I only used about 1/3. I added the oyster crackers, and salt and freshly cracked pepper. It also had fork, knife, lots of napkins. I am not a huge fan of fast food dining atmospheres, but I can see how some people may get a craving for this meal. I did get the small & it was my first meal of the day & it was pretty filling. I would like to try the burritos or other items. The heat has been a killer, so I'm becoming less interested in cooking meals these days also due to pain level. Skyline is a slice of heaven for me and everyone should grab a quick bite, if they have the chance! Directly from Cincinnati, Ohio, Skyline is on every street corner in every town and this is a perfect reminder of that. Although the chili tastes slightly different, it is still excellent. Definitely get a three-way if you're a newcomer to Skyline. This is a perfect start to the chili spaghetti combination...and that mound of cheese does not disappoint. If you're a bean or onion lover, you can add those on, but, a simple three-way is a great start. If you're not into Cincinnati style chili, I recommend the cheese potato. It's a small little storefront in an unassuming little shopping plaza, so if you blink you might miss it. We were greeted and sat at a table along the wall, but about the middle of the room. As we checked the menu, we overheard a couple of conversations between the customers and the restaurant staff, takling like old friends. The customers appeared to be mostly having their lunch break, as indicated by some of the vehicles parked outside with various company logos or markings. One of the customers saw we were not sure about a menu selection and helpfully offered their opinion based on their preferred entrée choices. They were spot on. We ordered a few hotdogs, chili a few ways (with and without beans) and had a great meal. The chili had a great flavor and was delicious. This is not like a "traditional" chili or the more common flavor like, say Wendy's. This has a touch of cinnamon and nutmeg or allspice (some mix of one or all) and it is a real nice flavor. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was great and we enjoyed it. The customers continued to rotate in and most appeared to be regulars that were greeted and known by the restaurant staff and engaged in conversations updating each other on current local or family events. Came to Naples while on vacation and ended up here at skyline chili since all other places were closed that offered hotdogs. We were hesitant to visit this establishment due to the lower rating. If you could ever be SO wrong and judge strictly off of " people's reviews" and their " experience" here at Naples Skyline Chili it would be this business page and their establishment. I can honestly say that the advertised rating is WRONG! I am glad I got to come here and experience great hospitality and good ole fashion chili dogs. The staff was very welcoming and greeted us on top of starting a simple conversation. This staff created a wonderful ambiance environment that you don't see much of anymore in today's fast and evolving society. Service was excellent and fast. Food was hot and superber. Ended up getting 5 chili dogs and their chili spaghetti to go. (never had it and wanted to give it a go) Chili was on point to where I started a conversation with a gentleman that ran the establishment about their chili spice and canned chili you could purchase right there at the front counter. This gentlemen gave me a spice packet to try on top of the four packets I ended up purchasing after the fact. Good chili is hard to find let alone something you can take home and prep yourself. It was awesome to find this offering here at Skyline Chili that way we could continue to enjoy great chili from the comforts of our home. This gentleman was very knowledgeable and gave me some tips and tricks on how to make the chili the correct way using their in house spice packet. He also said these spice packets could be found online and if I wasn't able to find it, I could call the Naples location and purchase it straight from them. I applaud their customer service and warm welcoming environment. We need more restaurants like Skyline. All in all I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Skyline Chili in Naples to anyone looking for chili dogs with a side of GREAT friendly service. Can I review the reviewers on here? People have lost their mind if Skyline Chili is sitting on four stars. Visited here once because it was highly recommended. Never returned for two reasons. One, their staff clearly enjoys their opiates. And two, the food is... Indescribable. Watered down chili tossed on some linguine to give it the mere hope of substance and still failing. Everyone from Cincinnati giving this garbage five stars needs to pack up and head home. Open a franchise there yourself. I'm giving this a 5-star because I get the strong feeling that it's as good as any Skyline Chili could possibly get. In terms of decor, menu offerings, and output - I suspect it's precisely what is intended to be delivered. Conversely, I also assume the devotees expect precisely what is offered up. Personally, I am NOT a particularly enthusiastic fan of the specialty (the "3-way") but I certainly respect it - and the throngs of followers it has earned. It goes to follow that Skyline Chili is here in Naples. After all, I-75 ends up here - and Skyline Chili hails from Cincinnati. I can't help but suspect that central to the "special recipe" is a dose of both chocolate and cinnamon. For sociologists and gastro-anthropologists, I strongly recommend coming and ordering the three-way for starters, and then the four and subsequently five-way. Take your time eating it. Remember, this is a ritual. I've known scores of Ohioans that get borderline weepy when conjuring images of this unique specialty. It makes me happy to know that it is so loved. I made a u turn in the middle of the street to go here when I saw it. Easy to miss on the end of a shopping center. Apparently this is the southern most location if the franchise I had 3 of the cheese and chili coneys. They were delicious. Lots of flavor and a ton of cheese. Don't try if you can't handle the dairy. It's heavy but a classic comfort feeling develops after eating here. Just like home. A great chili chain. Happy to stumbled onto it in Naples. I was disappointed. Was told by someone I met from Ohio to try the place. I did. The owner and staff there were very pleasant and eager to please...and that's a major plus. But the chili is minimal. Not much substantive Ingredients in this. My wife said the worst she ever had. I didn't agree, but was lacking a lot. I think the cheese and onion saved part of the entree I had...spaghetti with chili, cheese and onion and chili...although mixed is doable. But I longed for a better chili. I am a native of Cincy now living in Orlando. I visit Naples a few times a year for work and have been to this Skyline numerous times. Usually I get good counter service and the food takes care of my fix until I make another trip to SW FL or Ft Lauderdale. This last trip I had a server that could have doubled for a homeless man. He was making mistakes with orders left and right. He asked and forgot my drink order 4 times. I was by myself and there only 4 other tables occupied. He was very apologetic claiming a headache but my instincts said it was something different. It was quite possibly the strangest service I've ever had in any restaurant...ever. Everything else was OK although the buns we a bit too crusty like they had been out in the air too long. I was very disappointed. read more
