Jeff groomed my dog Merlot for about 10 years, and he truly was like a dog whisperer with him. Merlot was a reactive dog, and several groomers couldn't handle him. Even at the vet he needed medication before visits. But with Jeff, he never had an issue. Jeff had such a calm and confident way with him, and Merlot always did great during his grooming appointments. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing he was in such capable hands. The first time I called they weren't! Lucky Dog may not be the fanciest in town but I always get the feeling when we're there like they are part of our extended family. Our little fluff monster doesn't freak out when being handed over and they are instantly snuggling her. When we get her back, she's not stressed and is returned trim and cute as a button. I love the first-in-first-out with the option of an early drop off, allowing our baby to not have to hang out in a potentially stressful situation for longer than needed. Been coming here for 3 years maybe four. My first dog had his paws cut by PetSmart as a puppy and would never let anyone trim his nails again , if you came near him with anything that looked like trimmers he would growl. Debbie is so amazing, she was able to trim his nails the 1st time we went there. Gone ever since, friendly , clean, they remember you and your pets. I've never a bad experience is the many years. This crew does a fantastic job on my Siberian Husky (I noticed on Yelp there are solely photos of small dogs). I've washed my dogs for decades myself but now my back tells me it's not worth the pain. I've taken my girl to two other groomers ever. They never got down through the undercoat, never did the job as well as I could myself. I gave it one last try in August 2020 when I first went to Lucky Dog. So happily surprised! I wish I had a more recent " before" photo, but trust, if there is a patch of dirt or mud, that's where she is. Huskies should get dirty as heck playing! They should just also get sparkling clean every once in a while. One other thing to note: although I have a Furminator, I need to use it so much less frequently. So much less vacuuming. read more

Benefits to this place: 1. Someone answered the phone when I called on the second ring 2. Staff helped me troubleshoot the name of the service I wanted for my pooch 3. Price was half of what I've been charged by other dog groomers for less services (nail grinding for $10 instead of $20 for nail clipping that our vet and both Petsocomart charge) 4. Service was lightning quick! I was literally in and out in less than five minutes. 5. Up front parking 6. Free poopy bags and dog biscuits 7. Free smells for your dog to enjoy from other dog poopy bags and dog biscuits The only con I see is the cash or check (lol. What's a check?) policy. Debbie, who has always bathed my dog, is great with him. However, I am repeatedly disappointed with Jeff's grooming. My instructions have not been followed. The haircuts are choppy andn uneven. My dog has also been nicked which ended up an infection that required vet care. I will continue to use Debbie for his baths, but I won't be going back for haircuts. read more

Just moved to Austin and was looking for a place where I could take my Australian Cattle Dog "Kelly" to get her nails trimmed. I called several places in my area and all needed me to make an appointment a day or so in advance. Due to my work schedule, that can be very difficult. Well yesterday on our early morning walk I was walking past Lucky Dog and thought I'd walk in and see if there was any chance they could trim Kelly's nails. I was greeted by a very friendly gal who was more than happy to take Kelly on the spot. As I waited in the lobby I could hear hear talking soft and sweet with Kelly as she trimmed her nails. When she was done, she brought Kelly out and Kelly was very happy, smiling, and wagging her little nub tail. I was VERY pleased and happy with my experience and the service at Lucky Dog Grooming. I took my very recently adopted dog here for his nails and a bath. He has short hair so a full groom wasn't needed, but boy he had some raptor claws on his paws. Since I just got him one week ago I didn't know how he would behave at the groomer. He's normally mild mannered and loves people, but as you know the groomers could freak a mild dog out. Turns out my little heathen gave the nice ladies here a hell of a time when it came to his nails, but they let me know they had to muzzle him and they were very patient with him and were able to get his nails done. He was very fearful, likely due to a previous owner's bad nail event. It happens. They gave him treats and were very good with my dog, politely explained his behavior, and just notated it on his card for the future. His nails look great, he's nice and clean and the staff here is super professional, down to earth, and I would recommend them to anyone :) read more

I previously given 3 stars and was very concerned because out of the 4 visits I've done the last one was disastrous. I want to update my review because I've since than given another try hoping that it was just crazy since it was the weekend before Christmas. My most current visit was the best and I'm not sure if it is because they noted how bad my last visit was or they were more on their game than last time. They were very verbal and talkative so I knew what they would exactly be doing. The lady there was very caring and told me the entire process. How they limit the kennel time. They even called the day before to make sure the 11am slot was okay and I didn't want an earlier time to make sure he was out earlier. Everything was so much better this time; from the communication, to the cut, to the finishing time. It only took them 3.5 hours which is the fastest yet. I'm so glad I gave them a second chance. The only thing I would recommend is don't make an appointment super close to Christmas. It's chaos. I learned my lesson. He even seemed happy after this cut. So thank you Lucky Dog for redeeming yourself! read more

If we'd have had some sort of weird collective dog-smelling contest (and if that doesn't sound like the most awful thing going I don't know what does), you would know that it was high time for my pup to experience a well and proper bath. She has been -- for a while now -- what the kids call 'stinky' and even given as much luck as we've had with do-it-yourself self-dog washing (or at least the version where I bathe her and she looks highly irritated until she's clean), I was eager to hand her off and let trained professionals take a whack at the scrubbing. What emerged a few hours later wasn't so much miraculous as long overdue - she smelled great, her fur soft and I felt like she acted like she felt better...I mean, who doesn't like putting your best paw forward now and then? These guys are a little out of the way for me (we grabbed a Nab The Deal coupon which was worth the drive), but now that I've been through the process once here and my pup did so great, I'll be only too happy to make the trek again. My dog is not a biter but she's still a cranky bitch... she's 14 and dealt with some crazy whiz in her early years, so I'm all... ok, if that's how you need to be... then be. She freaked out a lil bit when they came to take her back to the holding area but I went with her and threw some treats in the "salon chamber" and promised I'd return but her look of disbelief and abandonment very nearly ruined my lunch...but i went to DK Sushi with and friend and powered through the emotional upheaval. I usually took my dog to Petsmart but after the last time, she came back with a pretty big lesion on back by the tail. I picked her up and they claimed she had trouble sitting. She's 12 and never had one problem. I googled some pet groomers and found this one. I saw it had pretty good reviews so I made an appointment. Weezer came out looking real nice and overall happy. The guy I talked to there was really nice as well. It was a bit pricier than Petsmart but totally worth knowing my dog is in good hands. read more
