Cincinnati-style chili fans rejoice! Lucky Dog's open till 3 AM (Friday + Saturday) and that probably adds +5 QoL points for everyone in the OTR area. It's always nice to have friendly staff and reasonable prices... like all the gold stars are aligning. As far as the meal itself was concerned: their chili is different enough from its competitors to be unique but similar enough that to me, it makes it a tossup on where it falls on my Cincinnati chili rank list. Just like Skyline and GS -- it's pretty doggone good. I had my three-way in the park nearby (wow, let's not take that sentence out of context!). I've lived downtown for a year and pass this spot all the time, yet have never tried it only because every time I go by it..it's packed, but last night I found them when they weren't busy and had to try it. Right off the bat, the staff was incredibly welcoming. The menu is straight forward and had a break down of what they offer. I had to try the coneys, but their double decker sandwiches also sound amazing (maybe for another day.) I decided on 3 coneys and an order of chili cheese tater tots and they absolutely did not disappoint. They offer a little bit of everything including a kids menu, and a tasty assortment of desserts as well. This is a super tiny hole in the wall kinda place. Ended up walking past it during Blink and tried their hot mett cheese coney. It was pretty good. This is definitely a to go type of place. There is 1 oddly placed bench in the center for seating with no table. That's it. I work in OTR and I am always trying to find a place for lunch that has good food and is not terribly expensive. In one of these hunts for lunch places, I saw this place on Main Street and decided to try it out. It is very cute inside. Small and intimate. I am generally not a fan of hot dogs, so I was worried that the menu was just going to be versions of hot dogs. I'm glad it wasn't. It's not a large menu, which is always great for when I am being indecisive. However, they do have sandwiches, double deckers, coneys, and any of these can be customizable, which was cool. They also have a lunch special where you can get a double decker, chips, and a drink for $9. This is a phenomenal lunch deal, especially in OTR. I don't remember what kind of double decker I got, but it definitely filled me up. My only complaint - this is such a personal preference for me and sandwiches - is that I wish they had avocados to add. Another thing that made me like them a lot was the fact that they have milkshakes!! You can only carry out since they don't have space to dine in, but the meal and milkshake was an excellent lunch to enjoy out in Washington Park. I also heard they are sometimes open late night for party folks on Main. I tend to avoid the night scene on that street specifically, but I can only imagine how good it must be to eat after some debauchery. read more

Stumbled upon Lucky Dog while walking Blink Fest. Everywhere was pretty busy but this place was a quick carry out type, so worked out perfectly. The lady at the register taking orders was everything. So friendly, fast and helpful - she was wonderful and definitely made the experience better. The chili Mac was deemed very solid from my girlfriend. She also had the coney which she enjoyed. I had the Lucky Wrap which didn't quite hit the spot I was looking for, but it got the job done and was a low price point. I only ever get the lucky seven club and cheese coneys because they're so good I can't divert. The sandwich is beyond your typical BLT with a choice of two extra meats and an extra slice of toast in between. The coneys are comparable to skylines and when skyline is closed Lucky Dog OTR has your back. read more

I really like this spot & the menu. I plan on trying everything as far as food and will update as I do. So far I've indulged in their coney dogs & the turkey wrap. The hot dogs are great but small which isn't disappointing giving that they're only $3. The wrap I had was very underwhelming & I will not be trying it again. It wasn't worth the price for the small amount of meat & toppings that were included. They have some of the best customer service ever & this goes for the early and late crew, everyone is great. The staff were very friendly, the service was quick, and the food was hot and sooooo tasty. I ordered the chili cheese sandwich with everything on it and a turkey and bacon double decker. Before I left, the cook handed me my sandwich and said, "I hope you like toenail polish because I put my foot in that sandwich!" Quite an intimate setup here but mighty where it counts! Or so they say. Been attempting to stop by when in fact they're open. Several attempts prior to this alas successful one, they would be closed or locked up and would see the staff cleaning up with each of us staring at the other. Me in confusion since I'd arrive well in advance prior to their most "updated" hours of operation while they in annoyance of a customer not taking a hint. Seems they too (like most restaurants and places of business not upping the ante to cover/pay employees during these times) are having staffing issues. I do get it that they are in a bind potentially also. So wasn't really sweating it and just try another time hoping I'd catch them when in fact open. Their byline is that they have fresh, locally-sourced, artisan delights. Primarily that of salads, wraps, sandwiches, chili, coneys, ways and desserts. Ended up getting their daily coney special (which is 3 coneys and a 20 oz drink for $8) which arguably is their marquee (hence the name). They were cool. Not much complaints; the only thing was I somewhat was thrown off by whoever was fixing the order for the way they were covering the coneys with the shredded cheese, it seemed their forearm was touching/resting on the first one by the angle I was at but clearly I ain't address it while there so just left it to type here to cowardly bring up lol. First off I want to say I never write reviews, but this one needs to be written. I have ate at Lucky Dog serval times. I always order just one coney with everything. It is mediocre at best. Just in case you wonder, I work near by and it is convenient to walk to. However, I will not be going back. From the rude glances the owner gives me when I just order one coney to the comments of just ONE Coney to now not excepting any of the forms of payment I had to offer for my ONE coney. Any form of money whether it be coins or 100s is a form of a sale where your business is making money. So it eludes me as to why you would turn it down.
