Landed in Cincinnati late night around 9 and there weren't too many places open, but we needed a quick bite to eat before heading to Dayton. Found Joella's Hot Chicken. We ordered the thick thighs and tenders. I tried the medium sauce, Ella's fav, and if you like spicy, I would definitely recommend kicking it up to the next level. Generous portions of fries. The mac and cheese was okay. It was not the greatest I have ever had, but I think I would have enjoyed it more if it had been served hot. The banana pudding, however, was better. Overall, it is a nice place to grab a bite when you want something different from your traditional fast food options. I also like that they offer vegan chicken, which is a nice option for those looking for an alternative. Definitely worth giving it a try if you are in the mood for some hot chicken. read more

Just loved it and our meal was delicious too. Saw someone sharing a meal with their mom who is an assisted living care. Ask questions about it because it was new to me and decided to have a late lunch later that day. So glad we made that decision. But other than that it's a welcoming atmosphere you where you order up at the counter and then take a number and they bring it to you.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got the big pimento chicken sandwich. It was actually pretty darn tasty! A huge piece of chicken on it as well. I could pick a side and I picked some of the country mashed potatoes with some kicking gravy. Definitely need that spice! It was pretty good. Friend just got some chicken wings that come on top of toast and also a side. So it's pretty pricey for what you get. I guess chicken is a lot of protein and that's probably why it is pricey but just beforewarned, it's a little bit of a splurge. Nothing cheap here at all. But definitely tastes good quality! There's another hot chicken place in Northern Kentucky that I'm not the biggest fan of, so I've been avoiding Joella's thinking it was more of the same and was I so, so wrong. Joella's is the real deal! I love that you can customize essentially every part of the dish, from the spice level to the dip. The service was outstanding, and the staff when above and beyond to make sure my toddler was taken care of. I love a good chicken nugget so I wanted to give this place a try. It was tucked in the back of a shopping area but I was able to find it. I didn't eat there, but ordered my food when I got there to go. We both had the nuggets - with tweener sauce, cute name for between hot and mild. The nuggets were pretty good. They are small little chunks of white meat chicken. I had garlic parm fries and he had regular fries. I really liked their skinny little shoestring fries. We also tried the pickle chips. I had a bit of a misunderstanding when ordering. I asked for pickle chips. But when I got my order they were missing so I let them know. They brought out a bag, but it was the sliced pickles, not their fried pickles. I probably should have specified. They made it right and gave me pickle chips after a bit of a wait. They didn't charge me for them so I feel like they tried to make it right. Overall good experience at Joella's! You should give them a try! read more

Joella's is always enjoyable. The parm fried and jojos sauce with the Ella's fave heat level are my go tos. I also like ordering the chicken sandwich. This location or Joella's is pretty dark and can occasionally be a bit dirty but the staff has been friendly and the food just what you'd expect from a fried chicken joint. read more

Every time we eat here, we are never disappointed! The chicken is always hot and delicious, the sides are delicious and the sauces are great too! I liked that for the chicken tenders and nuggets, they were cooked in hot honey that gave some heat; but then they added sauce on the side. That way, unlike some chains, they aren't overly drenched in sauce. I loved the jojo sauce! I saved the remainder of it and used it for lunch at work, BWWs wings, to dip the wings in! read more

Having high hopes and empty bellies my family and I decided to try Joella's hot chicken. We ordered the tenders, nuggets, thighs and big wings. For sides we tried the plain fries, garlic Parmesan fries, Mac and cheese and the red skinned mashed potato with gravy. The fries both regular and garlic parm were excellent. Well seasoned, thin cut making them nice and crispy right to the end. The mashed potato was decent possibly lacking in a bit of salt and pepper. The Mac and cheese was creamy and a bit gluey. I kind of wish that there was a bit of cheesy crust (like when baked) on the top. On to the chicken....the nuggets were overcooked. Not sure if it was the breading but salty in flavor. The tenders were super disappointing. Dry and lacking flavor despite ordering hot I wish the chicken was marinated or brined before breading and frying. Doing so would make the chicken tender and juicy. The wings were somewhat the same. Pretty flavorless and in need of a brine or marinade. Overall I was pretty underwhelmed by Joella's and wouldn't be going out of the way to go again. read more

I have been wanting to try out Joella's for a while - we visited after an airport run picking up a friend. The service is phenomenal - the lady at the counter was very helpful as we had never been before and made great recommendations. They were also very helpful as we were leaving. Very impressed with the management and the service! The food was good. The chicken breading was flavorful. I wish I would have gotten one of their house sauces instead of ranch to dip my tenders in - their sauces look fantastic (I just didn't see them on the menu at the time of ordering). The fries were good, but not fantastic (in my humble opinion). I love all kinds of fries - shoestring, boardwalk, steak fries - these are more like shoestring and crispy and have cheese and garlic on them - but it wasn't a 10/10 for me. The chicken shines over the fries. I may have to try another side when I go back. Atmosphere was good - we caught it Easter Sunday evening, so it wasn't very busy. Nothing fancy, but we were there for the fried chicken! I would go back for sure. read more

I stopped in for the first time for lunch, sort of stumbled on it looking for a lunch spot. I was not disappointed. I got the lunch special $10 for two tenders, a side and a drink. I decided to get the garlic parmigiana fries for an extra $.75. I got the tenders Ella's spicy. Tenders are wonderful, the hot level was perfect for me, I might even be able to go up a level. The garlic parm fries are deeeeelisious. The staff was friendly, service was quick, I just beat the lunch rush. I made two mistakes. 1) I got the order to go and thought I could eat in the car easily. Nope, the fries are packed into the container and they are covered in garlic parm, delicious but messy. The tenders were well, tender, covered in sauce so they wanted to fall apart and get sauce all over your hands. I 75 needs two hands on the wheel. 2) see number 1, this hot chicken and fries deserves to be enjoyed and savored not eaten in a moving vehicle like a fast meal. read more

Some items are good, others are not. I have gone twice with my boyfriend. My boyfriend got the pimento chicken sandwich both times and it was really good! The chicken was juicy and the cheese added a nice kick! I have also gotten the classic chicken sandwich and it was also pretty good. The last time we went, I got the boneless wings with the ghost pepper heat level and they weren't great. First off, the wings were about the size of chicken nuggets. They came with a piece of plain bread and dipping sauce for $8. The dry rub only had a little spice, which was far less than I was expecting for the second hottest spice level, and the wings were kind of dry. The mac and cheese is basically unseasoned and comes out as sort of a block; it's not great. The crispy fries taste like fair fries which I really enjoy! The parm fries aren't as good though. The fried pickles need a bit more breading. Finally, it seems that all of the chicken gets sugar added to it or something?? It feels like all of the chicken has an odd sweetness which I didn't enjoy. Food came out very fast. We got two chicken tenders, mashed potatoes, macaroni, and cheese and garlic fries. We topped it off with banana pudding and Oreo cream pie in a jar. The chicken was good. The mashed potatoes were good although not very hot. The macaroni and cheese was a little bit thick like maybe had been sitting there for a good while. The fries were decent. The dessert was a major disappointment. The banana pudding is just Pudding out of a box with no bananas and only one Nilla wafer The Oreo. Ordered Joella'a for dinner and it did not disappoint! Chicken was fresh and crispy, coleslaw was good (says my husband), garlic parm fries were great! My husband got the chicken and waffles and said the waffles were perfect. Jojo sauce was great, my only complaint is the spiked honey is more like buffalo sauce- no sweetness, very vinegary, and hot. They also had a large variety of good tasting sides. The service was top notch. Taylor W waited on us both times and was very friendly and informative. Lets start with 'I AM SO MAD I DIDNT TAKE PICS OF THE FOOD!!!' But in my defense well, they didn't make it home... I ordered to go, and taking a bite here and there while stuck in traffic it was all gone fairly quick. First time trying this place and it wont be the last for sure, I ordered tenders and garlic parmesan fries (hence why it didn't make it to home, it was finger food LOL) and they where delicious!!! The Tender where crispy, juicy, well seasoned just by themselves, Now! when you dip them in the sauce which I asked on the side, WOOHOO! I asked for a low heat one and a medium one and they both where amazing! It took it to another level. The fries where really good as well, a little greasy and messy with the parm and all that on top but still really good. Rounding up with the dessert... That cookies and Cream cheesecake if not mistaken was the perfect compliment after the spicy tenders and the salty fries, it just balanced everything out. The one and only ding I have is that it felt a little pricey; around $15 for 3 regular tenders (not huge), parmesan cheese fries and a coke. But it terms of flavor is worth it. read more

Split the very large Quarter White w/ the delicious Crispy Kale which they split in their own, which was very nice cause we actually got two sides of the Kale. It had a sweet touch w/ the currant or cranberries in it. The hot sauce on the side was not hot, but flavorful! I have eaten here many times, food was 5 stars, service was 4 stars. Today food was 0 stars. The menu board said Sammie came with 2 jumbo tenders. We were given Sammies with one piece of meat. It looked and tasted like thigh meat, not the jumbo tenders we have eaten there many times before. Nobody mentioned that we were being sold thigh meat before they took our money.
