100% a weekly meal for me!!! I've been better taking care of my health so a weekly Greek salad with gyro meat and a side of tzatziki sauce has become a go to favorite! Don't get me wrong, there are so many great dishes here! Absolutely recommend one of there all beef hotdogs in almost any form. Really like the one wrapped in bacon with beer cheese...so mouth watering! Regardless, I door dash from here every week to be a bit more on the healthy side and will argue that the house made greek dressing is a must try on any salad you do. Sweet Home, Chicago! Moving out of Chicago was never in the cards for me. Many years ago, when I needed to relocate for work, I knew absolutely nothing about Cincinnati. I grew to like Cincy very quickly. Not so much for the food (pizza and strange stuff they called "chili") but I all around felt like I was at home. I was also surprised that I never really found myself all that homesick either. I mean, I could always call my friends and family.....but there was one thing...... I can't call a Hot Dog or a Pizza! Now if I want good Pizza, I make it myself (Sorry, Cincy. Your Pizza game sucks.). But if I want to get a couple of good Chicago Style Hot Dogs, or other "Beef Joint" menu items, Chicago Gyros and Dogs brings a little home to me here in Cincy. Focusing on the dogs and fries, they've got it down. Whenever I get that urge, I drive the 25 - 30 minutes South to get those Vienna Beef hot dogs, trimmed perfectly with all the right condiments. I've had the Italian Beef once before and I'd have to give that another run. It wasn't my favorite, but maybe worth a second try. I do feel like I'm at a real Chicago "Beef Joint", back home. With the exception of one thing, but I completely understand it - Not a whole lot of Chicago Sports Team representation. I know you're in Cincy, but come on..... it's Chicago Gyros and Dogs! Would I go back? Yeah I would. As often as possible. In fact, I'm glad it's as far away as it is, otherwise I'd be there too much. I grew up at my Grandfathers diner/donut shop that was located on the Wrigley Field grounds, right in front of the stadium. So, with that, Vienna Beef dogs, Polish and beef were all we knew. Any reputable "Beef Joint" had that unmistakable yellow Vienna Beef sign in the window. Growing up in Chicago, your favorite pizza place or beef joint were the ones closest to your house. There are literally hundreds of each in all of Chicagoland. Maybe thousands. They all might have their own slight nuance or "thing", but the thing they all have in common is that they're delicious. So it's been awhile! This has been one of my favorite spots for gyro's, brownies, fries and everything in between. Usually the fries stand up to my ride home. They did not and were under seasoned, but still tasty. I wasn't happy about neither tiny cheese sauces being filled at the cost of $1. I also took some of the meat out because it was a bit salty. The best Gyro I have ever had!. And I have had quite a few. Fresh meat, fresh pita, fresh veggies..... Fresh everything...everything was so tasty! Our server was fast and kind and checked on us just the right amount. Convenient location, one or two blocks from campus... near enough to campus for a walk there for a post game meal. Chicago Gyro is a staple food for a number of UC students. That being said, the portion sizes are great for a fairly inexpensive gyro and the service is always very kind. My typical order is the standard gyro and it never fails to be a highlight of my day. Very meaty, very saucy, very yummy! When I order from Chicago Gyro, I normally take it home but it is worth noting that this is one of the few places in the area that has its own parking lot. That paired with two entrances and a lot of space makes for a pleasant dining experience. Nothing formal but a great place to take friends on a more casual outing. read more

It's hard to find an authentic Chicago-style dog in Cincinnati. The service was quick and easy, however, the bun was soggy. This is a good place, but a wet but destroys all the Americana Fair dishes (burgers, hot dogs, ect) because the bug just becomes granular and melts. I would advise the kitchen to be more careful, shaking the pickle juice off the pickles while grabbing them with the tongs, before putting them on the bun. Or another possible source of this error is too much relish added, which can also destroy a dish with excess moisture. Otherwise, its an easy fix and a delicious dish. Thank you. read more

My car was stolen while eating here. My friend was like, um... where'd Chicago? I was really disappointed by this Chicago dog place. There was nothing wrong with the filling of the dog. The dog was well made and the sausage tasted nice and the toppings were not too bad even though there was way too much green relish and way to a little of everything else. But the poppy seed bun! Oh my goodness. I went for this dog over the Gyro because it was so cheap and because I love these dogs. But if you only have rock-hard stale poppy seed buns then you can't be serving them! Ew. The employee girl was really friendly even though she didn't seem too happy with her job and made a few disparaging remarks about the owner. The decor in the place is really nice and I'm glad that they had restrooms because I needed it. Because of the stale bun they can only get three stars from me for now but I will go back and try a couple of other items and if I don't have more stale bread issues and if I like the food that I get I will raise them to a 4 or whatevs. read more

I was craving a Greek salad today and Chicago Gyros did not disappoint! There's a lot that I'm trying to squeeze into my diet right now (low carbs, low saturated fats, low cholesterol)... it can be really difficult to find food items from restaurants that fit the bill. But generally speaking, there's lots of workarounds with greek food. When I opened my salad container, It didn't strike me as the prettiest salad, but boy was it tasty. I appreciated that they were not shy with the chicken (that I requested to be added). I also loved all the olives. I like to see some other types of greens in the salad, but it was tasty no less. The dressing was delicious too. When I got a bite with lots of the dressing and feta cheese, it truly hit the spot *chef's kiss*. In addition, prices are extremely reasonable. Staff is very friendly and helpful If you like gyros you should definitely give it a try. Also, if you want to try something a little different get the Greek nachos - it is a plate of pita chips, covered with tomatoes and cheese, topped with a lot of gyro meat and feta cheese. We left with our bellies full, actually, we sort of overindulged in gyros and fries! The portions here are big! I haven't left a restaurant so full in quite some time and yet it's not necessarily indicative of the quality, unfortunately. It's our goal to find an amazing gyro in Cincinnati but Chicago gyros was a slight disappointment. It was good but not enough to make us loyal. It doesn't seem like they fry up the meat, which can really make or break a good gyro. The pita could've been quickly browned and the taz sauce could've been much thinner with a lot more cucumber and dill. Our service was wonderful and the beer specials looked awesome but something fell a little flat. I think a few small steps could be a game changer. Our portions were so large for the price which definitely is a bonus but I felt bad wasting so much food. Next time, hubs and I could easily split a combo meal. It's a good way to get a protein packed meal. The falafel here is pretty good if your expectations are reasonable. It's about $7 for the falafel pita and a side, which is a pretty good deal considering how much food this is. The fries are piled on. Good idea to get these if you're drinking. Great little corner spot for Chicago style dogs, gyros, and fries. The price is very affordable and takeout is a breeze. They'll whip up your meal in a jiff, and even give you a bench to wait on it. Employees are friendly. Parking in this area can be a bit of a pill. There are some free street spots down the hill, and many metered spots along McMillan, which are often full or near to it. Mixed feelings. It's a grease bomb (the gyro). You know how if you put something greasy on paper it makes it transparent? I put it on my desk and I can see my feet. I put it on my file cabinet and I can see a 2016 tax return. I put it on my chest and I can see my clogged. While these effects are impressive, they do not make for the best eating experience. I vacated my office years ago and when I walk by it still smells like this sandwich. However, on some days, this kind of thing is what we really need. On those days, there is this sandwich. Now: I've eaten a lot of gyros (I'm spinning right now, actually, slowly around my axis, roasting in the Cincinnati sun), and one thing that's really always missing here is that crunch. You need just a *little* bit of char on the outside for it to 1) be delicious and perfect and 2) not feel like a big wet pile of meatgrease. Either on the back deck or inside, no problem. The food here is fantastic, we've had the Chicago dog, greek nachos, burgers, fries, all so good. They serve beer, too. I absolutely LOVE this place. The traditional gyro is my favorite! The service is great! They're so fast and I ordered take out and they made sure to make my fries fresh as soon as I got in the door which was a "wow!" Moment for me because I overheard them mention it rather than them mentioning it to me, and it just really shows the thought they put into every meal! One downfall is that their phones never work anymore so I can't call my order in :( I wish it would get fixed so I could just pick up and drive home rather than wait there while it cooked! But it doesn't deter me, they have a parking lot, too. That's what originally drew me to the establishment! I HATE street parking and in this busy area, a parking lot is PRIME real estate. Best gyros anywhere in Cincinnati hands down. Super generous portions of gyro meat in warm fluffy pita and delicious tzatziki sauce. There is a nice light seasoning on their fries as well. And they make excellent Greek salads too. All food is at a good price point. Service is kinda spotty, almost like they are sad to work there. But its easy to overlook since the food is so good.
