Well it's actually a funny story, Many years ago when I was just a small infant my mother decided she wanted to get my ears pierced. Every time I ask her who did she go to for the piercing, she just says "the doctors". Well whoever the "doctors" were completely did a lopsided job. I was always insecure when wearing earrings and never wore them because my right ear's whole was way too high then the proper position. Kids in school would always ask me why my earrings were lopsided. Because of this I haven't worn earrings in years. I tried correcting the imbalance of my ear piercings a few years ago by trying to get a double piercing. It was successful for a bit, but a few days in I had to take them out because my right ear was trying to catch an infection. On my 30 hour layover in Des Moines Iowa my coworker wanted to get his ear pierced, and this brought up unfinished business between me and my lopsided ear holes. I decided to go with my coworker and try one more time to correct my ears. We made no previous reservations, we came as walk-ins and we had to wait about 10-15 minutes for Abriana our piercer to finish up with a few clients. Once she was finished she came up to us, asked us what we needed and then helped us pick out some earrings. After that she took us to the room to get our piercing done. I went first. I explained my whole dilemma and I felt that my concerns were taken seriously. She took her time with measuring my ear and deciding where to put the second holes. On the left ear she pierced above the original hole, and on the right ear she pierced below the original hole (because that was the hole that was too high). When she pierced me she did it with a needle and not the piercing gun. She said the needle does way less damage on the skin tissue, and therefore allows for a better recovery process. She explained to me just before piercing me that I would need to inhale, and then when I exhale she will pierce me. I appreciated this because I knew what to expect, I also think the breathing method help to make it a little less painful. She was very friendly and super professional. I would definitely recommend her as well as this shop. I'm actually surprised at the reviews here on Yelp. Granted a lot of them are outdated. This place gets great reviews on Google, and I can vouch for those reviews. It's now going on a week and a half and my ears are going strong. No signs of infection to be seen. I went in with my fiend for our first tattoos. Rick did mine while another artist did hers because they were free. Rick drew the stencil which we both liked, but he did not use the stencil on me. It was on my backside so I couldn't see what was going on, plus it was my first tattoo so it shouldn't be on me to make sure everything was going correctly. Rick freehanded our cherry design onto my body, which will obviously be there forever. I have absolutely no idea why he did this. On top of ignoring the design, Rick did thick, black lines which were NOT the design at ALL. I could not be more upset by the experience and work of Rick. Again, I have literally no clue what he was thinking. He said that if I don't like it once it heals, I can come back to get it fixed. I live in Illinois and can't travel back because he gave me a shitty tattoo. I wish that I knew what the hell happened with him. read more

My girlfriend and I stopped by for a walk-in for some quick and fairly simple tattoos. They were friendly and welcoming and ready to help us out. We had Corey as our artist. He's a very down to earth and funny dude and did a good job listening to what we wanted and delivering. Mine was a real simple sun, moon and star and he got it done for me in no time yet it didn't feel rushed. The line work is good and clean and I'm satisfied. My girlfriend got a poppy on her arm and at first she was going to just get the outline, but he gave his artist opinion and suggested color and I really think it made a big difference in the final product. Aaaand he didn't charge her an arm and a leg for the color work which I thought was pretty legit on his part. We will for sure be back again for our tattooing needs. read more

First off- I was impressed that this location was named "Best Local Tattoo Shop" for 2018 and 2019! Cati-O at the South Side Location tattooed my best friend and I. She was very professional, and helped tweak a design I brought in. She was open to ideas and suggestions, and explained any and all aspects of the tattoo process perfectly so that we felt at ease with our design, the size, and placement. Her prices are definitely fair, and she has exceptional " bedside manner"! I cannot wait to see how it heals, even so, she assured us touch ups for the next year. It was the perfect way to celebrate 17+ years of friendship with my Celestial Sister! I also bought art from Cait-O, which she priced very low, Even though her work is definitely worth more than what she asks for it! I was looking for my first tattoo and always heard great things about Lucky Gal. I went in to set up a tattoo appointment and told them Saturday worked best for me. They took down my information and said i would get a call, i never did. I called them Thursday asking if i could set up an appointment. The guy over the phone, said that they couldn't do them over the phone, i asked if now was a good time to come in. For some reason he just repeated that they couldn't do them over the phone and that they preferred walk-ins. I said thank you. Fast forward to Saturday, i get to Lucky Gal and its busy, but they said they wanted a walk-in. I brought with the drawing my friend did, that i wanted tattooed. First of all....the establishment itself was very nice. But I'm leaving this review because the man that pierced my nose fucked my nose up. Who gives a 16g piercing on the nose... Puts on the ball... The CLAMPS the nose ring together? I couldn't get the nose ring out of my nose because he overlapped the ring so far that it wasn't able to be removed... The gage didn't heal for 5 months and continued to puss up for 4 months... i has to cut the nose ring out of my fucking face with wire cutters, after fucking it up trying to unbend what he had done. I'm not saying this is a bad place to go AT ALL, but I spent all day searching for a place to do this while traveling solo through Iowa and I spent money, only to go through shit with it for 4 months until I cut the bitch out of my nose. This establishment had gained a returning customer. The atmosphere is pleasant and the workers are efficient. I've got a few piercings by Derek and I'll be going back for more. My sister and I came into to get piercings from Derrick today. I cannot say enough good things about both the shop and him. The shop was spotless and sanitary, but Derrick in particular went above and beyond; not only did he do a marvelous job with the piercings themselves, but he also came out after our appointment to help us change a flat tire-- he even lent us tools to help! 100% would recommend and will be visiting again! read more

I can't even begin to tell you how awesome this place is. My cousin got her nose pierced and she thought she was going to pass out. So Derik Mills (the piercer) was SO nice he got her THREE mini waters, M&M's and an ice pack. Once he saw her military ID he gave her four free extra nose rings and the sea salt spray for free. (he paid for them) This guy was so nice. Definitely going back and asking for him! My cousin said the way that he pierced it she didn't feel a thing. read more

Unfortunately Chris P . an owner no less ,Took My Original tattoo n clearly marked it up, changing ~design n Original colors!!!! Then , enough rope to hang himself as he pr first initial C. into my leg n it with the wrong color to see what i would say. I have the (pink truth in a letter C. on my leg!!!!!) I have been here multiple multiple times. I got my nose pierced initially and that got extremely infected with the "home made" cleaning solution. I came back and told them about the problem and received three free piercings in return. Two of my friends and I used the free ones and all three got infected. We followed the cleaning instructions verbatim and still suffered the consequences. We went to another piercing place and they told us that they were all extremely infected and the piercing itself was done wrong. Although the environment is friendly I do not recommend going here unless you want to waste your money and risk serious health problems. My ear was so infected by the second piercing I was in excruciating pain and went to the doctor. 0/10 do not recommend. read more

Nice staff. Cute place, with painted rooms of fun colors. But I gave this place 2 stars because myself and 3 other friends have gotten piercings from here and after months my nose is still infected. Along with my friend's cartilage and earlobe. I have gotten piercings at other shops and none have resulted in this long lasting infection. read more
