Biff worked on me and didn't even give me the usual jokes. As someone who is dedicated to having my derriere delineated by drawing, I usually get the wisecracks about how "Sir, we may not have enough ink in stock to finish the work." I know I'm a full-figured guy, so there's no need to make me the butt of jokes. Biff did no such thing; he was thoroughly professional and a true artist. His inking of the Iowa Hawkeyes icon on my backside is something that I wish I could actually see because the image just sort of pops (which is hard because I am extra-jiggly). It seriously looks amazing. Ironheart Tattoo is the place you want to go to in the Iowa/Southern Minnesota/Eastern Nebraska area. None better. read more

Jess did my mom and I's tattoos back in 2019 and we have both came back to him since then. I moved away from Iowa but will continue to come back for each new piece if he will have me! I did a lot of researching and it was hard for me to come across another neo traditional artist's work that I like as much as Jess. His work and personality is 10/10. Him and the shop both create a safe space and a fun environment. I haven't gotten tattoos from other artists there, but they were all fun and nice people as well when I was there. read more

I got my nipples pierced here, and they pierced it with the wrong size jewelry. There wasn't any room for swelling and healing, so the piercing was squeezing into my nipple. It sucked. When I finally went to a different piercing place to get it fixed, they were in disbelief someone would use jewelry that small for my nipples. The new place gave me jewelry that was like 2x bigger, and I felt immediate relief with the change. read more

I have gotten a lot of my tattoo work from Budha, and I can honestly say that it's time to go back! This shop has great artists, and a great piercer! They run a clean shop and do a lot of creative, wonderful work. I would advise having an appointment for your tattoo, as all the guys stay pretty busy. The work you'll receive will be worth it! I also have to say Biff, the piercer, is great with placement on piercings and making sure you're getting exactly what you want. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a great piercer. Tattoo reviewers will always skew the ratings because they have to live with the tattoo no matter what, so in most cases the reviews will either be very positive or give only 1 star because of a staff infection, misspelling, our just horrible work. All I will say about Iron Heart is do your research on shops around DM and you will find at the end of the day Iron Heart has the reputation as the best, the cleanest, and artists who are committed to quality and not quantity. This is not a production shop. I am sure they do their share of verses from the bible down someones's side, barbed wires and tribal bands on bro's, etc. but the artists at this shop know their stuff and each one has a unique style. Some of the artists at this shop are at the top of their games and are nationally known when it comes to various styles weather it's classic tattoos, animations, or black work. DM is very lucky to have a shop and collection of artists like they do at Iron Heart. Tattoos are serious business and if you are looking for quality, art, and something you will always be proud to show, go to Iron Heart. read more

Had a horrible attitude and refused to meet my needs I wasn't asking for much just to add to a tattoo and was met with resistance. They made it almost impossible to make an appointment and didn't care that I was a paying customer. If you want someone who actually cares about you and has your best interest in mind then you should go somewhere else. read more

I decided to give this tattoo shop only 2 stars for a review due to their lack of professionalism, and the amount of time it took to book an appointment. I emailed and called this shop multiple times to find out more about my options about the tattoo I wanted and what the artists believed would be a good fit. Every time I spoke with the front desk, I was told to just email the artist and they'll get to me when they can. This wasn't my first time receiving a tattoo and every tattoo artist I've worked with in the past has been professional and interactive. From the front desk to the artist, there is NO professionalism here. Everyone in this shop acts as if they are better than you and don't need to treat you with respect. However, the tattoo itself deserves 5 stars. The way to tattoo looks is just how I envisioned, so I don't want to deter people from coming here if you're willing to get a tattoo.
