During the snow storm this was the only place near me that was open and it was a savior. The service was very nice and they did their best to also keep the place safe during COVID since there were many people. I come here often and get lemonades and iced coffees, but this time I got a hazelnut oat milk latte which was great. It is pricey but a nice treat. We ordered a blackberry bourbon latte and a dirty honey chai latte. Chai was pleasantly spicy and flavorful (would really recommend), but the blackberry bourbon had very little flavor and just a little sweet. The barista was incredibly patient and friendly, and the outdoor seating area has tons of comfy pillows and is just generally a good area to chill. Side note: the pumpkin bread samples? Yes please YUM Edit: I realized based on the owner's comment below (thanks so much for the outreach!) that it seems like I meant the latte wasn't sweet enough. They started coming by my work building on Thurs, and I finally tried them yesterday. I'm not much of a coffee person, I don't drink it every day, but needed something to wake me up yesterday afternoon. Got a regular iced coffee with caramel, no cream (asked for it to be less sweet) $3.75/12 oz., came out perfect! I will try their other iced drinks next time. I love everything about this place!! The interior is so cute, clean and smells fantastic. There are spaces to sit inside and a lot of seating outdoors. It's a great study spot! Also, the service here is outstanding. The employees were very friendly and helpful. Also, everything is fairly priced and seems a bit cheaper than Starbucks. Unfortunately they were out of breakfast tacos when I got there (10:45 am on a Friday) so I got a hibiscus mint tea and a ham and cheese croissant. The tea comes unsweetened, so I added a bit of sugar, and it was very refreshing. I'd recommend this drink! It's so unique and flavorful. The ham and cheese croissant wasn't overly cheesy and was also very good. The only reason I'm giving this place 4 stars is because the inside of my croissant was a bit cold and I ate mine only a few minutes after ordering. I have a mixed lab. I love craft coffee. I accidentally parked in front of this place when I went to visit campus. It's a sign. I ordered the Spiced Coconut Cold Brew and it was absolutely delightful. Definitely tasted the flavors of the coconut and the cinnamon. But it didn't overpower the drink and make it too sweet. It was a perfect blend of flavor on every sip. I would have stayed if the temperature wasn't 25 degrees outside. Their patio area looked pretty cool. I'm thrilled that they are still open during covid. Only issue is parking which can be a pain. There is street parking along with San Antonio garage right across the street. Their seasonal flavors always sound like they are going to be amazing but when you take that first sip it literally just taste like milk and espresso, almost like they forgot to put syrup in it. This was a miracle find. It is close to UT but tucked away slightly, I only discovered this when a friend invited me. Without a doubt, best coffee I've ever had in America. (Looking at you, Both East and West coasts). It is perfectly brewed, a delicate flavor that holds up nicely. They also have really good specialty drinks, such as the Cinnamon Rosemary. They have exquisite pastries made-in house. The strawberry "handpie" is a personal favorite. The service is excellent. The staff is helpful and personable. I just had the creamiest latte of my life here: the longhorn sweet cream. Described on the menu as "the last flavors of summer" and that was somehow accurate. I don't know what I was tasting but it uniquely & surprisingly delicious. I walked up and ordered at the window where the sweet barista helped me decide on a hot ham & cheese croissant to go with my latte. Despite the cold weather, there was enough people sitting outside to help absorb the cold. I was able to sit and read for a couple of hours without freezing. This place is cool. Don't want to fool with the Starbucks on 24th? Here you go. Pretty much the same coffee menu & clientele, but the next time someone rants about supporting Satan's corporate scrotum, your polite response is "I do enjoy a respite at Lucky Lab." The two-buck drip is great, it appears they do their own in-house baking, and you can choose between straight chilled or fruit-infused water. It's easy to see this place getting backed-up & crowded during a rush, but there's a whole bunch of outside seating, especially in that common area of this "Space 24 Twenty" complex. If I didn't have to deal with parking around here, I'd probably be a regular. I did leave wondering what the "Lab" part of their name refers to, I assumed it was a clever way of saying they're always developing different coffee concoctions. Now I think it's about their dogs. They have some counter seating inside and shaded tables and misters outside. Parking can be tough when UT is in session, but there are several options for street parking and in the San Antonio Garage. read more

This place is a great study spot and a great place to meet up with friends to chat with, but their coffee is extremely subpar and watered down. Recently ordered a latte from here and it almost didn't taste like coffee and it's something I wouldn't order again. Goes to show that the standard for coffee newr campus is quite low, especially when you have this business opening up another location on 24th and rio. I honestly didn't know this place existed until today. I went to meet with a friend for coffee and loved it! I'm definitely coming back and you'll probably catch me there all the time now that I discovered this place. It's a cute little brick and mortar shop right behind the urban outfitters on guad. As far as I can tell, they had the most business out of all the food places in their food court area. They have a variety of drinks as well as special seasonal drinks and pastries. The seasonal drinks all sound delicious! Will come back to try them all. The cashier was extremely sweet and helpful and gave us recommendations. Today I got their iced chai latte and really liked it. I had a sip of my friends drink (I think it was called honey nut mocha?) and it was also really good! I love how it's not overly bitter or sweet! The menu looked really nice aesthetically but is kinda hard to read since it was really small and the fonts and text kinda just blended together into one big blob of text because there wasn't any flow. It was hard to read if you aren't right at the counter. The downside is that the coffee shop is very, very small so it's really cramped in there. During busier periods (aka when students are get out of their class and come here for their coffee fix) the line goes out the door since the building is too small to hold everyone. They have limited indoor seating that can seat maybe ~10 people and lots of outdoor seating. I stood up to pack up my things from the bar and immediately was in the way and people kept squeezing by me to get to the line or bathroom. Overall, deff coming back! read more

One: customer service was shit. The girl at the counter wasn't friendly. When I asked about the sizes of the cup she seemed annoyed that she had to turn around to grab them and show me. Two: we went inside to use the restroom, and none of the employees acknowledged us. They just stared at us like we were weird for coming in to use the restroom. This was a confirmation that everyone who works there has shit customer service. Three: the coffee itself wasn't good. Normally my favorite spot. Only coffee shop open before I have to be at work at 7:00 which is great! First several visits went great-friendly baristas & super fast service. Today & last visit not so great--seems to be a new barista that is not friendly and not at all even attempting to be fast ((HELLO WE NEED COFFEE & we have to get to work-please be aware of other peoples time)) especially when we are paying $6 for a cup of coffee. Today there were 2 baristas, and one person inside ordering. One barista was filling what looked to be a party order--filling a jug. The other "new" barista was moving through molasses apparently to give the customer inside a muffin. There were two of us waiting outside. After the muffin was served the barista walked away from the counter & disappeared in the back --after a 10 min wait the women in front of me bailed out of line, and said "HOW RIDICULOUS" before heading away. When the barista returned she didnt seem to care that she lost a customer and had no apology for whatever was causing the extreme delay. Very little friendliness coming from this one --which is a really drastic difference compared to the baristas of past. She heats the milk, pours it in with no effort to blend or create--just slosh in the espresso-slosh in the milk and there ya go. Might I add the milk is scalded and the espresso is watered down. Tastes like hot milk. What a shame. Really disappointed in this change. Lucky Lab WAS such a wonderful morning treat. So. Cute. Found this place on IG and decided to go check it out one Sunday with my husband. We're dog lovers and we love coffee -- this is literally the best place for both of those things. I got an iced americano with a peach bourbon vanilla pop-tart, and my husband got a drip coffee with a strawberry pop-tart. The peach bourbon vanilla pop-tart was OUT OF THIS WORLD. My husband is very picky about his coffee and I was surprised when he said he loved his. Overall, really pleased. Very cute place, but seems to be packed very easily. This place is now at 24th and Rio, on the bottom floor of Ruckus 2.0. It's a nice study space with plenty of tables, seating and outlets. There's large windows to let in lots of light. I got a medium harvest sweet cream latte, and it was extremely meh. It came out barely warm, super grainy, and no coffee taste at all. I know I shouldn't be surprised since this is a trendy seasonal drink, but I was pretty disappointed. Next time I'll just get a much cheaper normal drink. Great study space though. read more

I love this place! Their bakery is great and all their coffee tastes genuine. I always get their seasonal specials which I would recommend. Their chai lattes are the best! This doesn't get 5 stars because since it's right by a college campus, there are college kids who work there, and they can be rude sometimes. Not always, but sometimes. If you're from out of town I wouldn't go here, because there are other coffee shops around town that have better coffee and customer service. But if you're moving here, or if you're around the area and really want a drink, this is definitely the best coffee that there is for anyone in west campus. I'm basically a coffee addict. I have had A LOT of coffee. So ironically I've cut down my coffee habit (this means something I swear). So I'd like to start by saying, maybe it was just a bad day at Lucky Lab. I've been wanting to come here for weeks, seeing the coffee flights and cute ambiance. My bf and I ordered our drinks. I got the pumpkin oat cold brew and he got the pear vanilla sage sweet cream. Both were bland and missing love, character...taste. The cold brew tasted like sugar water and some spice. That is not cold brew. There was no coffee taste at all. IT was so bad we went and got something else. An iced vanilla latte. You can't mess that up. Unfortunately, that drink was sugar water too! I couldn't consume either drink. It definitely felt worse since I was waiting to have my one coffee here. Ended up making coffee at home. Seating area is cute though. Sad about the coffee. read more

Pretty good lattes and coffee. Not too bitter. I would say not dark coffee either so if you want strong coffee ask for another shot. This place is new and clean which I loved. It has an open bakery where you can watch them bake sweet treats. The pastries look phenomenal and so beautiful! I would work on the taste just a tad. Strawberry pop tarts are delish! Maybe just changing up the jam inside to where it has more strawberry and less jam? The jam was too over powering for the the rest of the components of the pop tart but beautifully presented. The zucchini bread tasted just like a cinnamon loaf and was a bit on the dry side. Wish there was a bit more zucchini and more moist. The espresso cookie had espresso flavor from the Lille crumbs on top but maybe the salt was forgotten in the cookie batter? Was a little empty in flavor, but good presentation and was almost there. The tacos are good but kind of small. Tortillas for the tacos were so delish! Wish there was simple syrup for the iced coffee too but the creams and milk dispensers are on tap and it's really cool to use. Highly recommend this place and def coming back! read more
