Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea is a unique spot! Located off Guadalupe Street. Street parking seems to be the name of the game (or, that's where I parked). The venue itself is spacious, offering a nice modern aesthetic and vibe. Plenty of tables to sit and enjoy your beverage/telework. I ordered the French Vietnamese Au Lait and it was delicious! Flavorful and not too sweet. Definitely hit the spot and gave me a bit of nostalgia of ordering coffee at Cafe Du Monde in NOLA. Free WiFi after purchase, a generous rewards program (15 points for signing up, 60 points for a free drink), and 10-15% for first UT-students/ responders/ state employees. Hidden gem downtown! LOTS of drinks and light breakfast options. Was initially just going to get a latte, but made a last minute decision to get the quiche and so glad I did! Got it toasted (highly recommend) the crust is light and flaky. Generous amount of fluffy egg topped with spinach and little pieces of artichoke. Enjoyed that it wasn't huge chunks of it. Now the large latte is HUGE. I went with 3 shots of espresso instead of the four it comes with. Wasn't expecting much, but the beans they use are very flavorful and was pleasantly surprised! Bonus points for many a few different SF options. I lucked out on parking - got a front row street parking spot. Could see it being difficult during busy times, but there are also parking garages nearby if street parking is slim. Overall, loved the place and felt the prices were fair. read more

So, to be honest, I'd rate this place a 4.5, but since we don't have a point system, I'll give it a 4. It's conveniently located near the Texas capital, but you'll have to find parking unless you're a state employee, in which case you'll have some parking options nearby. The staff is incredibly friendly and will gladly share their honest opinions on their recommendations. Lynn was particularly helpful and friendly to all customers. I ordered the breakfast biscuit egg and sausage sandwich. The biscuit was incredibly soft and melt-in-your-mouth, which I appreciated. I also got the caramel ice dragon with hazelnut added. While I found the drink a bit too sweet for my taste, it was still delicious. I think this place is a great spot to work. They have Wi-Fi and tables, and there's even a courtyard patio area where you can sit. read more

Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea is a nice little coffee shop in walking distance from the Texas capitol. We stopped by for some afternoon coffee while we were in the area. They may get busy in the morning but in the afternoon, they were nearly empty. The shop itself is small but we were able to get a table to enjoy our blueberry scones and iced creme caramel lattes. They have a fun selection of signature coffee beverages, classics, pastries, breakfast sandwiches, and desserts. The iced creme caramel was a rich, delicious beverage. The blueberry scone was good as well and not a bit dry (I find scones are either well made or dry--this one was well made). The service was friendly and efficient. Get to it! read more

We ended up at Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea two days straight, and I didn't even pretend to branch out. I ordered the exact same thing both times: the spinach feta pretzel melt. No regrets, no curiosity, just commitment. The pretzel melt hits that perfect balance, warm, salty, cheesy, and just enough spinach to convince yourself you made a responsible decision. It's the kind of thing you think about later and immediately want again. And the coffee? Smooth, rich, and full of flavor to the point where I drank it black... which is saying something, because I'm usually a splash of milk in my coffee kinda person. Great little coffee shop near the Capitol! I walked here from my hotel near 6th on Thursday morning and had a delicious cup of regular drip coffee and their pretzel club. YUM!!! That club hit the spot! I asked for a packet of Mayo which set it off. Prices are good, coffee and food options are plentiful and unique, ambience is cozy, baristas are awesome! The sweet lady that helped me was kind and upbeat. Parking may be a little tough but since I walked, I didn't notice. Seems like a great place to get work done in the city. read more

Located off 12th street, this cafe/coffee shop this place has many options to choose from ranging from coffees to teas to frozen drinks to refreshing beverages. Ordered a strong iced matcha latte with almond milk and cinnamon in it. Truthfully haven't ever been charged before when asking to make a matcha strong, so that was a little off for me, but if I did go back I would ask for a strong "extra matcha" again, because I don't think the drink would've been as good without it. Coffee drinks we got tasted okay, but it's nice they have so many options to choose from flavoring wise. The staff was kind in talking through all the options on the menu with us and helping to evaluate what to order. They let us know some of the non-dairy milk options were sweetened. The walls of the place are beautifully decorated with murals. Good for a coffee/tea/beverage fix. read more

They also had speedy wifi which was awesome. Decent selection of food and snacks from breakfast sammies to pastries and large selection of coffee, tea, you name it. I had a matcha which had good flavor for the most part but was a little sweet for my liking. I paid $8 for a quad/large French Vietnamese au Lait, and let me tell you, it was actually a large--like this coffee, it's almost as tall as my 16.9 FL OZ water bottle and 2.5x as wide. I am not sure how new this spot is but a coworker told me about it last week and I had to check it out. Not too far of a walk from the Capitol. Typical coffee shop that has your hot/iced coffee, teas, frozen drinks, pastries and more. By it being my first time, the employees were very helpful explaining the drinks and the process. They also have a great rewards program. With every purchase, each dollar gets you 1 point. Once you reach 60 points, you get a free drink. The inside is nice and welcoming with ample indoor seating as well as a couple of tables outdoors. I think this may be my new stop for coffee. read more

This is such a nice and quaint cafe! I heard really good things about the owners and their drinks, and I'm glad that a specialty coffee shop has come to Austin. They have a lot of seating, and they even have branded merchandise! I love how they were doing special promotions the first week they opened because that's what got my friend and me to come. What a wonderful new cafe downtown with its own free 1hr retail parking in the building behind it (and unlimited on weekends)! We got to meet the lovely couple, Tyler and Lila, and hear about their careers, passions and training - quite intense! And it shows - in the creative positive vibe, the clean and safe tables, the wide selection of drinks and baked goods (that are even marked non-GMO if they are)! We absolutely loved the Ice mocha and the ginger tea. If you're gluten-free like me, this was one of the better marshmallow bars I've tried. If you can enjoy it all, the cheesecake was truly NY-style and in fact, arrives from upstate NY. They have a large patio with tables set at a comfortable distance for pandemic safety. The soft opening was this past weekend but the official grand opening is this coming weekend (9/13) so don't miss the treats and offers they have on for the full week! I've been to my fair share of Austin cafes. This new spot is my new fav with it's open, COVID-friendly seating, wide selection of coffee, tea, and munchies, and cordial staff. I got to taste their popular cold brew, the dreamy cold brew, which has vanilla syrup and heavy whipping cream. It's smooth, iced, not too sweet or bitter, but just right. I also enjoy stirring the cream into the cold brew. My friend got the matcha ice dragon. She says it's creamy and unlike most cafes she could really taste the rich matcha flavor. Don't expect any ice chunks in there despite the name. The ice is very fine, so it's very smooth. The WiFi is decent. The music gives a nice ambience. The temperature (yes this is important) is at 73F, so I see myself being able to study/read/write here for many hours. Their bathrooms are spacious and clean. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor, shaded seating! I kinda hope it won't get too busy because I want to keep this place to myself. We also got some free samples! Would I come again? I told her it was as my first time in and She made sure to ask about everything About my tastes from rooibos teas to hazelnuts. Much of what I wanted, they did not have in stock, so I tried to leave. That manager was not having it! And she made the sale! I ended up spending about an hour in the café, tucked in a corner and reading from a book I happened to have on hand. There I was, surprisingly content and sipping on a mandarin and honey tea. But I will admit that their hazelnut wafers are past expired. My recommendation: buy only what's fresh and prepared, not packaged. read more
