I love coming to this coffee shop to study! The ambiance is amazing and there's tons of great seating areas to study or hangout with friends when the weather is nice. The only downside is the fact that the prices are pretty high. Their smallest sizes (equivalent to a Starbucks tall) on some drinks go up to $5 with tax, so high! Definitely not somewhere I can grab a drink from on the daily. In terms of food and drinks, I recommend their seasonal specials and their hand pies. The seasonal specials are always so unique and I never know what to expect when I taste them. The combinations are super unexpected, but pair so well together (ex. orange mocha latte from winter menu). Their hand pies are also house made and fresh everyday! read more

This is my first Austin review, and what a great recipient! I had about an hour in the city to catch up with a friend, so we went for a walk and headed straight to Lucky Lab. We ordered at the little screen window and enjoyed our drinks on the patio. There was plenty of seating and it was a beautiful sunny day in February so it was the perfect place to catch up! As the other coffee shops close throughout west campus (rip creamy whiskers & medici), Lucky Lab remains one of the only independent coffee shops left here. It's a pretty good one. I love their sweet cream lattes and they also offer fun seasonal drinks too. Definitely a spot for students so it was a bit crowded but it's right next to a space with tons of outdoor seating. I got a black cold brew and the strawberry hand pie. Cold brew was pretty standard and the hand pie was just as I was expecting. I wish they had more savory breakfasts but there are a couple of breakfast sandwiches available. I seriously love Lucky Lab. This little coffee shop is tucked away behind Space 24 Twenty and it's the perfect respite from the bustle of UT. Their coffee is rich and smooth, and their bakery items are delicious and made on site. While inside seating is sparse, there are plentiful outdoor tables. Also, if it's tight inside, just order from the window on the patio. This joint is close to the UT campus situated in an old wooden house. It's more then just coffee as food is served; made obviously by the huge brick oven visible to the clientele. It's a got a cool campus vibe, like students, profs and anybody else can hang there for a cup of Joe or a bite to eat. They maximize the space with an elongated counter and some tables as well as outdoor seating. I did t eat, but I did have one if there signature seasonal lattes as it was freezing outside. The quality of the coffees and additive flavors are lacking and often disappointing, especially considering the prices. The food is limited and can be stale. The coffee is weak and watered down. "Never do profit shares with them; they might stiff you and give the worst profit share deals without warning customers that if you do not have enough dollars in the transaction to qualify for a purchase, that would go to your fundraiser. Great study spot and quick coffee stop on the way to class. I usually get a black drip coffee on my way to class, and it's always great and tastes freshly brewed. They have cool seasonal flavors and some signature syrups. There's an entrance on San Antonio St and you can walk through the outdoor space to the Drag, so it's super easy to stop by on the walk to campus. The big outdoor space adjacent to the shop is always lively and full of students studying and meeting. They have treats if you bring your pup! read more

I love Lucky Lab! They make really good coffee, sell breakfast tacos, and support dog rescue organizations. I usually order one of their seasonal lattes. They are always very nicely crafted and not too sweet. The main brick-and-mortar shop is located near the back of the Space 24 Twenty courtyard (behind Urban Outfitters). The space inside isn't huge; bar seating is the majority of the seats...but it is cozy and bright. For groups, you can sit outside in their shaded patio. read more

Walked in on a rainy day and loved their merchandise, and the style of the place. It's clean and bright. I got a vanilla latte, nothing crazy. I think the coffee wasn't strong enough which resulted in kind of a watery, bland drink. The vanilla flavor was muted. Not sure what all went on, just not a great drink. I stopped by Lucky Lab on a Sunday morning to grab a couple lattes and some at home provisions that I saw online. There is a very nice outdoor area for enjoying your coffee and it is dog friendly. I ordered the seasonal rosemary whiskey and longhorn brûlée lattes and got some cold brew and lavender syrup to take home. I love when shops make their own syrups in house, so I was excited to try a few. The staff was very friendly and I got my coffees in under 5 mins. The rosemary whiskey latte had a wonderful flavor and wasn't that sweet at all. The longhorn brûlée latte had a great orange nutty flavor and still wasn't too sweet (which I was a little nervous about with the name). My friend also ordered the same drink but hers had noticeably more oat milk and less coffee, probably due to different baristas, but if you are looking for a caffeine fix this might be an issue. I also got the zucchini bread and it was really yummy, especially toasted. There is not much seating inside, I counted around 8 seats with counter top spaces large enough for a laptop. I found this place in a courtyard of other food trucks, but they served the elixir of everyone's morning need including mine. Lets face it I need my fix so I ordered a 16oz americano with room. Well, the barista filled it to the brim ughhhhh. But I Doctor it up and sit down in the courtyard to enjoy my Java. Honestly this was really a weak coffee. No strong kick or strong ever taste most americano's have. The entire point it to get a caffeine high from pure shots of caffeine . I have a feeling they got cheap and only drop one espresso shot as opposed to 3 shots most vendors put into a tasty beverage. They've got a window for service so if you just need to grab a caffeine fix before heading off to your study session elsewhere on campus, it's great; likewise, if it's not 95°+ out, you might enjoy the ample outdoor seating (some of which is even shaded!).The food selection when I visited in the early afternoon was limited. I got a strawberry hand pie and the pastry dough was pretty limp after heating up; I wish it had had some of that crisp crunch to it still! On the parking note, there's street parking, and the building is right next to both a garage and a parking lot, but I think maybe that parking lot is one you need to pay for? The iced matcha latte is probably the best I've had since I moved back to Austin at the beginning of the year. Absolutley delicious (sometimes). I love Lucky Lab's lavendar matcha. Although Yelp marks the place as two $$, I don't think that it's on the pricy end at all. I got a large, and with the add-on lavendar syrup, it was $6.50. Obviously, it wasn't Venti Starbucks large, but it was still a decent serving that lasted me all day. The only downside I would say is that in my multiple visits to Lucky Lab, the taste of the lavendar matcha was rather different. The first time it was heavenly, and I felt my toes curling every time I took a sip; the second one was a little too sweet, and the remainder seemed to either be a little too much or too little sweetener. It's honestly the consistency of the taste that dropped it to 4 stars. Service is really fast; I went here at rush hour, and when it was slow, I didn't ever wait longer than 7 minutes. As for the ambiance, it feels like it's more of a grab-and-go place. It's not like you can't work in there, but the seating is comparatively more limited to other coffee shops. read more

Came here super early on a Tuesday morning around 7 AM and it was pretty empty (also since it was summer). I took a while to order because I couldn't decide what to get. The barista was super nice and told me to take my time and then explained all the seasonal coffees to me. I ended up ordering the Thai Brew with coconut milk and also a coffee cake muffin. The Thai Brew was really good. It's an infusion of black tea and cold brew. I don't think I've had anything quite like it. The coffee cake was also good. It was a bit crumbly though and I wish I had asked for it to be heated up. I would definitely come back again next time! Great coffee shop in the West Campus area. It's right around the corner from Starbucks, but the coffee is 10x better, and it is also cheaper. There is a tiny seating area in the actual coffee shop, but lots of outdoor seating as it is a part of Urban Outfitter's space 24. So if it's cold it's not that awesome to sip coffee there. They have lots of seasonal drinks but they sometimes run out of stuff so things are off the menu. They also offer baked goods. On the bakery side of the shop, you can see the baker actually hand making all the treats. That way you know that they're all hand made! The also have a punch card so you can have a free drink at the end of finishing 10 punches. You can also combined cards if you have many of them for the free drink. Theres no parking on site so you'll have to pay to park. We ordered a mocha and a black drip. Both of them were so well made and the coffee doesn't have that bitter flavor that you wouldn't like. They offer almond milk too for those who prefer that (I do!). read more

The moment I opened the door, I was welcomed with the sweet smell of pastries. My friends and I originally wanted to go there for just coffee to start our day, but the moment we walked in, we knew we had to get something to eat. I got their white chocolate mint chocolate brownie and my friend got their biscotti. The white chocolate mint brownie was moist and breaks apart very easily. It is the perfect pastry to eat along with your cup of coffee. My friend dipped her biscotti in her coffee and she really enjoyed that too. One thing that I wish they did was to heat up their brownies because that would have made my already great experience even better.
