Constantly had to refer to "calling her" dad to get information. Multiple things on the menu were not even available. Very "Mom and pop" and below average. Treated like it was a business someone's running out of their garage. Very unprofessional in 2026 in the city of Austin. Your menu doesn't even match what you really have? Customers can't rely on what they see online -- or even the in-store menu. That's disingenuous. We won't be back. Very disappointing. read more

My husband took me here as a surprise on an afternoon date. It's exactly what you'd expect from a strip mall store called Baklava House. The outside is a little boring, but the interior is dressed up a bit with a chandelier and bright shiny display cases full of baklava and other desserts. The employee offered us a free sample, which was a good start. I may be guilty of falling for the "Dubai Chocolate" trend, but I chose a few pieces of baklava that had chocolate pistachio flavor profiles. I also took a risk on a nest shaped pastry filled with lemon filling, and I think it was my favorite of them all! They have tables where you can eat your treats there, and wash your hands afterwards, which is important because there's almost no way to do it without getting sticky fingers. Two times ordered on Too Good To Go and showed up at 8:45 when the pick up time is between eight and nine, and both times the store was closed. When I contact the app, it says other people were successful at picking up. How could that be if there is nobody in the store also, I did stop in in the afternoon with a friend last week and the girl working behind the counter was on the phone and did not even acknowledge us when we stopped in the store. They were handing out free samples since it was close to closing time. Since it was my first time there, it was good to try a sample! Sometime the combination doesn't work for newly created dishes but this is a winner. Imagine bitting a Kit Kat and end up eating a Kade instead of a wafer. The kadayif with cheese and was absolutely a delight and can't stop with a single bite. Also there are pistachios topped on the bars just like Knafeh! I have had Knafeh in Dubai and this place makes a good one. Ended up getting two bars of regular Dubai chocolate for $5 each. Delicious baklavas. We tried walnut, pistachio, and other baklavas. Unfortunately we don't know what all we got because it was a TooGoodToGo deal. Delicious, though! Definitely order your baklava to go... the shop is way too bright to enjoy as a dine-in customer. I am serious... it's as if they have halogens for ceiling lights. I could never sit inside this shop and enjoy a snack or have a conversation -- it's like being on a stage with floodlights shining on you. That said, it was PACKED with people to an unbelievable degree, so good for them! The shop was clean and smelled wonderful, and the baklava is delicious. OH MY GOD. Literally. This was a spiritual experience. I ordered 1lb mixed baklava + knafeh rough. It was quite literally the best I've ever had. The baklava is so flaky, sweet, filled with pistachios... just incredible. The 1lb came with around 12 or so different pieces so you get a lot of variety. The hype is real. We were on the hunt for the viral Dubai chocolate and it was found here at Baklava house and bakery. On a corner lot, next to a popular Mexican and on North Lamar we entered a pretty plain, clean bakery. We were immediately welcomed with a sample that was some sort of cream centered, baklava, and that got us started. Trays of beautiful pastries, enticed our eyes and made us hungry for more. Almost forgot that we actually came for the Dubai chocolate bars, bars were purchased and tried on the spot. Again, the hype is real. We loved it! They had like 4 tables to sit at, and I noticed how popular this sweet spot is for families with children. Prior to entering my kids requested the strawberry Dubai chocolate cup as well, and after quite a wait, a beautifully decorated cup appeared. Sweet, crunchy, fresh strawberries, creamy chocolate sauce. It was well enjoyed and worth all the wait and search. Mission completed. They have quite a selection of pastries which of course I had to try practically one of each. Most I didn't know since I have only had the traditional baklava but the person at the counter explained each one. The pastries are by weight and considering I got one of each I thought it was reasonably priced. I think I paid around $20-30. Service was good and the place itself is just a regular pastry shop...nothing fancy. The pastries were delicious but my preference is still the traditional baklava or the ones with some type of cheese or filling (can't remember since I came here about a month ago). read more

I love baklava and I've had so much of it that I think most baklava isn't very good. This place delivers on really delicious baklava. One of the things I look for is the ratio of phyllo pastry dough to the nuts to the sweetness. This was perfect. I also look for baklava that retains its crispiness despite being soaked in the honey syrup and theirs does. It's well-priced, good variety, and options with pistachios, walnuts, cashews, and almonds. I also got to sample their cream cheese fusion creation and it was surprisingly good. Of course, most of the patrons were there for the Dubai chocolate. Actually, to make reels of them eating Dubai chocolate *eye roll* That being said, I was glad to try out the Dubai chocolate too and at such reasonable prices. They offer a dark chocolate, milk chocolate and white chocolate options for the famed Dubai chocolate. This place is started by a Syrian whose family has been displaced by the war. We entered the store. We were the only customers there. The lady behind the counter did not greet us. She completely ignored us and even turned her back to us. She was very unfriendly and not welcoming at all. After about 5 mins she finally reluctantly asked, under her breath, if she could help us. They have several varieties of baklava and a few items I'm not familiar with. There were no labels on anything. No prices. No menus. I asked what a few items were. Her answer was simply "baklava" or "knafeh". She refused to tell me what kind of baklava or knafeh. When I asked what the difference was between two very different looking items was, she just said "knaeh, it's sweet". She did give me a sample of a random item. The baklava was ok. So I just ordered from this place and it is tasty but I asked for two sides of tzatziki and they gave me two sides of ranch and I didn't know because I ordered two sides of tzatziki and I dumped it all over my bowl. So now my bowl is gross and taste like ranch. I can tell that the food is good so I'm not going to leave less stars but definitely make sure that you're not getting ranch mixed up with tzatziki. I have loved baklava and all it's varieties since I first had it as a kid, and this place has every kind you could imagine and more. It's such a simple shop, no frills - What do you want? Baklava. They have it. They employee gave us some samples which was nice because they have so much that we got to try something new and did end up buying those. Prices are reasonable (it is just a bunch of honey and pistachios), so it's not cheap but it's definitely worth what you pay for. There are other Mediterranean places in the area but they have the most extensive selection and specialize in it so you know it's good. read more

They gave us a sample of the cheese baklava, which was yummy. It was a nice mixture of slightly sweet with cheese and flaky buttery pastry. My favorite was the walnut baklava. I love the flavor of the walnuts and the honey with the phylo. It's a perfect treat with all the flavors and textures all in one. The white dubai chocolate is delicious, like it's so yummy. My quest for Dubai Chocolate brought me here, and ever since then this has been my goto spot. Freshly made goods with extremely friendly service and staff that is that pinnacle charm of family and local owned business. Atmosphere: Smaller bakery type shop, so everything you see is made fresh in their kitchen. Food: Dubai chocolate seekers rejoice! This is the place, and they deliver on everything I thought the chocolate would taste like. Not only that though but their selection of Baklavas are tasty, they usually will sample all customers a taste of one of their goods. The cheese filled baklava being my favorite getting that perfect taste of just the right amount of sweet and savory with nice pistachio and cheese filling. Service: One of the big reasons I'll keep revisiting this spot is for the staff. Every time I've gone everyone is so friendly and patient, you get that kind of 'family welcoming' energy while still being a humble small business. I went to Baklava House with very few expectations. I'd been tasked with finding Dubai chocolate and was told this was the best place for it. Turns out, that recommendation was right. We went in and were immediately greeted by a woman handing us warm ashta. I've never found ashta in Austin before so this was a treat for sure! The counter tops were filled with yummy looking treats which made our choices just that much harder. The lady who greeted us met us at the counter and asked us what we would like. She walked us over to the counter and we pointed at what we wanted. She boxed everything up and asked us what else we needed. We ordered a meat manakish and a spinach manakish. We paid and sat to wait. The decor was fun and light. Chandeliers and Valentine's Day decor are all around, with one tv playing music on the wall. The noise level was very low. There are only a few tables in the dining room so it's not likely to become overwhelming. After about 7 minutes, our order was ready. I got Dubai chocolate and my companion ordered a Dubai chocolate cup. The chocolate was smooth and sweet with a low melting point. The birds nest baklava inside was very crunchy and a perfect counterpoint to the chocolate outside. 10/10, would do again. My companion's Dubai chocolate cup looked like a parfait, with cream, baklava, chocolate, and strawberries with pistachio on top, but the chocolate was solid. This made it hard to eat but they powered through. The meat manakish was warm and thin, with a slightly tangy meat. The spinach and cheese was juicy and full of flavor, with a folded crust to keep the juices in. I enjoyed it thoroughly. We ordered a few more things to go and I've already been back since that first visit. The experience was almost identical to the first. Can't wait to go back! read more

THE MOST OUTSTANDING SERVICE. The people here are so nice, y'all. And the baklavas are just as sweet! Right when you walk up to the counter, they provided my friend and I a free sample. We were so surprised by the size of the samples too as they weren't just some bite-sized piece but were full-sized baklavas. My two favorites have to be the pistachio baklavas and the cheese-filled baklavas. They're perfectly sweet, crispy, and flaky. The pistachios were practically overflowing from the flaky exterior.
