There are some great views from the top and outside is nice and shady with big trees and a nice size porch. The owner and family were so welcoming as soon as we arrived. We enjoyed a spread of tea sandwiches, warm scones with clotted, cream and jam, fresh fruits, and an assortment of teas each of which were so delicious and perfectly prepared. My personal favorite was chai which is from a recipe from a family friend, my friends' favorites were the peach oolong, sencha with Matcha, and their rose black tea. We were able to try as many as we wanted! Service was amazing. Ellie was our host and server and she did such a great job. We had the whole space to ourself so it was so fun for an intimate tea party. Highly recommend!

Plenty of parking right in front of the inn. Upon arrival we were seated at their dining room. Old quaint inn. We tried the Lavendar orange grey and fruit garden teas. The fruit garden was our favorite. Their tier consisted of berries, plate of desserts and a tier of sandwiches. Also served is a basket of scones along with a platter of deviled eggs. The deviled eggs and the curry chicken sandwhich were my favorite but all the sandwiches were pretty good. Price is a bit high compared to other afternoon teas but we were here for a special occasion. Staff was very nice. She would come and check on us or if we needed something and knocked was very responsive.

We never actually ended up meeting Michael in person, as we were a very last minute booking, and over a holiday weekend while Michael was with family. He had some friends staying at his property who hosted us and we had a great experience. Breakfast was delicious, the room was clean, and the communication from Michael and his friends was great. To set expectations, this is not only a designated Bed and Breakfast, but also Michael's full time home and as such looks like a home that is lived in. It felt similar to staying over at a family members house, and we were extremely comfortable and felt welcome. If we are ever in the area again for work or fun I would not hesitate to see if Malibu Bella Vista is available.

We stayed in the room with private bath and very much enjoyed the cozy ambiance and well-appointed bathroom. Michael was a delightful host with a warm sense of humor, and he made a killer breakfast served on china and crystal, which we enjoyed overlooking his dramatic mountain views. If you're dining at Saddle Peak, staying with Michael is a real bonus. Also, Michael has installed locks on each rooms and provides a key, so your belongings are safe while you're out enjoying the area.

Last year, Vista and Snug were under the same ownership, which is no longer the case. Snug now has closer affiliation with Hotel Aurora a bit up the hill. Snug is a cozy and charming 6-room inn. There is staff on duty during the day; welcome in-room wine and snacks are provided as well as daily continental breakfast. There is no staff on the premises at night, although someone is on-call. My stay was lovely and somewhat surreal. I visited during the February rains which caused the cancellation of all Catalina Express boats on 2 days during my Avalon visit. This forced guests here for the long Valentines/Presidents Day weekend to leave early or relocate. I ended up being the sole guest for my 2-night visit! And with minimal visitors on the island, evenings were also pretty quiet, despite being right above the main drag (Crescent). Snug does provide earplugs and eye masks if needed. I moved up my arrival date due to the weather and Snug was able to accommodate me, even offering the same room, which was the Santa Catalina room, the inn's "crown jewel" situated on the corner with two large bay windows, one facing Avalon Bay with Casino, Bay and pier views, the other with a built-in window seat facing Sumner and the hills above. All rooms have a fireplace and deep soaking jetted tub. The rooms are not particularly large but are full of charm, coziness and warmth. No robes or slippers, but there were 2 clock/music/alarm machines. Complimentary reusable water bottles are provided; there's a water/ice machine in the hall. The welcome snacks offered were olives, pretzels and high-end nuts (i.e., no peanuts). The continental breakfast was quite ample and includes a small loaf of warm banana bread, yogurt, fresh berries, granola, milk, juice and coffee or tea. You fill out an order slip as to what you want exactly and what time you want it delivered. There are 6 delivery times for the 6 rooms, which of course was not an issue for my stay. There is a common room with a sofa, fireplace and machine for coffee and tea. There is a closet for luggage storage, a public restroom and umbrellas. The front door is open 8-5, key access is needed in the off-hours. Shout-outs to the great staff I met--Jackie, Destiny and especially Johnny at the front desk and housekeeper/breakfast preparer Alicia. Overall a fabulous stay. I usually split my time on the island between Mt Ada and a property "downtown". Snug Harbor has moved to the top of my downtown list!

We loved hanging out in the common area, and the hot beverage bar was especially welcome in December. We usually avoid hotels because they tend to feel generic, but this place is the opposite -- a true boutique experience with only six rooms. The location is perfect, close to diving spots and great food, and the attention to detail is exceptional.

It's a couple who runs the place, and both of them are awesome. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated. If you go there, request the "guest room" - super comfy bed and plenty of space for your luggage. Comes with its own private bathroom, too. The #1 best part is the pool area. Great sized pool and spa. They keep it heated during the summer months, so it stays around 80-82 degrees. You can jump right in. There's also a spa with jets. That weekend, they had a ping pong table, so it was super fun challenging other guests to games. The landscaping is beautiful: palms, olive tree, roses, and a young plumeria that had a perfect smelling bloom. The #2 best part is the food. They know how to feed their guests! Saturday morning breakfast was eggs, boiled peanuts, and potatoes. We had late lunch/early dinner: Chicken, pulled pork (at just the right temperature), chow mein, and tons of fresh fruit. Dessert was cookies, and one of the guests brought cheesecakes from 85 degrees, so that was awesome. We basically hung out by the pool all day. It was a super fun stay and we can't wait to go back. The owners do a great job of making you feel welcome and at home. If you get lucky, the guy will show you his wine cellar and game room (if you're into games). Definitely recommended for couples who want a pool vacation. Not much privacy by the pool, but if your fellow guests are as cool as the ones we were with, it will feel like a pool party with friends.

The room was clean and comfortable, but what really made our stay stand out was the service. Everyone we encountered was incredibly sweet and gracious, but ASHLEY M. truly went above and beyond. I had originally asked for a pool view but couldn't really see it from our room. Without hesitation, she said, "Give me a moment," and rearranged things to get us a room with a proper pool view. That alone was amazing, but then I realized I had left something behind in the previous room. Ashley immediately reassured me and had someone retrieve it and bring it right over. She handled everything with such kindness, a smile, and genuine care, it really made a difference. When we checked out, I believe the manager's name was Isaac (I didn't catch it for sure), and he was just as pleasant and professional. You could tell the way the place is run reflects strong, gracious leadership. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. Clean, welcoming, and filled with kind people who truly care. Definitely two thumbs up!

This stay was far below expected standards in cleanliness & guest care. I would strongly advise against staying here. I endured an extended business stay at this property and from the start, the room was not properly cleaned -- food debris on the floors, a heavily soiled couch with crumbs throughout, and an unsanitary shower head that required replacement. Maintenance issues, including plumbing (foul smelling water) and power concerns, took days to resolve. Housekeeping was inconsistent and often unacceptable. On multiple occasions, floors were not cleaned, sheets were not changed, and visibly stained bedding was placed on the bed. Debris was left behind, including someone else's hair and trash, indicating the room was not properly serviced. Most concerning, I experienced insect activity and developed a significant bite during my stay that is still healing. A colleague on the same floor reported similar issues. This raises serious sanitation and health concerns. Despite multiple reports, concerns were dismissed or inadequately addressed at the management level. Rather than resolving the issues, responses were deflective and unprofessional. I ultimately had to escalate this matter to corporate to receive any acknowledgment. For a Marriott property, this is unacceptable and this establishment is unfit. I would never return to this property.
