El Rincon Del Taco
18 S. London Street, Mt. Sterling, Ohio
(740) 837-9549
After several trusted recommendations (and one mild peer pressure campaign), I finally rolled into El Rincon Del Taco for breakfast this morning--and folks... I was not emotionally prepared.
Location, Location, Location
Nestled perfectly in the bustling metropolis of downtown Mt. Sterling--strategically positioned between Sterling Joint Ambulance District Station 371 and the Gazebo (#SweeetSpot)--
El Rincon Del Taco quietly flexes as a breakfast contender.
Mt. Sterling breakfast options usually include:
1 Bring your own cold eggs and bacon
2 Breakfast pizza from Sunoco
3 The Farmers Table
4 Two Hands Coffee
And SURPRISE... Mexican breakfast El Rincon Del Taco
Inside, the place is shockingly spacious, super clean, colorful, and festively decorated.
Plenty of seating, friendly staff, and a vibe that says, "Yes, you're far from home--but we got you." Bonus points for a large shared parking lot and street parking. Get there early, spots go fast!
Mexican Breakfast? Bold Move. I Respect It.
Who knew a Mexican restaurant would throw down at breakfast?
Apparently, everyone but me. After hearing coworkers rave, I figured--why not start the day with a bit of Mexican grease? Game on.
Website & Social Media Reality Check
Facebook: Functional... but let's call it minimalist. El Rincon means "The Corner," which is an interesting choice because it's not on the "The Corner. I wonder how you say "Almost The Corner" in Spanish.
El Rincon is a popular name for Mexican restaurants nationwide, making it challenging to find this particular one on Facebook. A little BaldHype Social magic wouldn't hurt. I know a guy!
Yelp: Needs an update. Says they open at 10am and doesn't even whisper the word "breakfast." They are open much earlier for breakfast. Tragic.
Let's Talk Mexican Breakfast Menu
Options galore, including:
Mexicano Breakfast Burrito
Chorizo Breakfast Burrito
Ham or Bacon Breakfast Burritos
A La Mexicana
Huevos con chorizo, jamón, or tocino
Basically, eggs + meat + beans + cheese + tots = happiness in various forms. #Respect
What I Ordered
I went with the Chorizo Breakfast Burrito because... chorizo completes me. I regret not discovering this spicy sausage earlier in life.
The burrito was big, delicious, filling, and absolutely hit the spot.
The chorizo brought the spice (and red grease) (#GetTheTumsReady), and even though I'm usually anti-bean, I barely noticed them. Growth. #NoBeansNextTime
And the tater tots?
Listen... eating tots at breakfast feels illegal, and I loved every second of it.
The burrito came with several mysterious sauces--I played it safe with sour cream because what red-blooded American doesn't love sour cream.
Price: $13
Could I make it at home for $5? Sure.
Will I? Absolutely not. Convenience wins again. #LazyBreakfastEater
Final Verdict
4 out of 5 Bald Heads
Lost one bald head for:
1 Weak online presence
2 And yes... I'm almost 50, and it's practically mandatory for me to complain about prices now #cheapoldman
Bottom Line
Take this review for what it's worth--but seriously, stop by and give them a shot. Breakfast is legit, lunch and dinner slap, and the Papa Locas are the bomb Support local businesses!
