This review is for date: 11/22/25 (I forgot to post about it till today) Never will I order from their bakery again. Not only was the cakes I ordered wrong, it seemed like they had put no effort into making the cakes as much money as I spent for my grandson's 1st birthday cakes. At that when I called to complain after my daughter brought it home, whoever the manager was that was working the morning of 11/22/25 was giving so much attitude to me, never said SORRY and before she hung up the phone instead of saying sorry and thank you, she said "Mmmm Hmmm!!!!" with so much attitude I felt her eyes rolling back through the phone. We always shop at Luckys and I have a good family friend that works for them too. Never would I have ever thought they would have someone this unprofessional working with customers especially for orders that was PAID for in advance. I trusted you guys with my grandsons 1st birthday cupcake cake and his own personal cake and all I got was disappointment. The cakes look nothing like what I wanted and ordered. The cupcake cake was ok but the picture was supposed to cover the whole top from what was told to me when I placed the order. The personal cake was supposed to be ALL blue with white borders mimicking the blues clues color! She even told my daughter it was wrong, she even showed her my receipt and what was written on it and that she didn't know why her baker did it that way!!!! So...why is she giving me attitude?!? I just went in and usually all of the workers here are pretty nice except for that one lady in the bakery however there's yet another one that started working here. I give it three star simply because they have some good things here but the prices by double Safeway or FoodMaxx anyways. There's a very tall lady she's probably in her 20s early 30s, she proceeded to bag my stuff I told her thank you for the first thing she bagged and she threw it into my cart. Then there was other things that were from the bakery that she put underneath all of the heavy stuff. Then I also have sodas so she sees me rearranging her work gets even more mad & throws the soda on my bag then fixes it like oops sorry. I can't feel your vibe from a mile away and it's not a good one whatsoever. She was throwing my stuff around intentionally trying to squish my stuff I don't know what's up maybe she's having a bad day. But I snatched my bread off the table before she can smash that too. If she is the bagger for my cashier I will simply just bag it myself or go to a different cash register that's how unpleasant she was. I am so grateful I don't have to go to this Lucky's again. This Lucky's on Main Street in Oakley was conviently located near the venue where we were having our event and was therefore utlized numerous times over the course of a couple of weeks by a handful of us for food, drinks, party supplies, and I also made the horrific mistake of ordering the cake from the Lucky's bakery. Thankfully, I personally only had to go into this store twice, however my son, his wife, and a couple of other people who had the misfortune of shopping here also confirmed...basically don't shop there unless you have to, need no help from the bakery/deli or any employee, and are okay being ignored. If I'd only read the reviews beforehand...but in the same token, my memories of Lucky's were friendly faces, helpful employees, service with a smile. Things have changed. Let me start by saying that since they began locking up ridiculous items across all grocery stores, combined with literally everyone just being a general displeasure to interact with these days, I don't go to the grocery store anymore. I use Instacart so I don't have to deal with that nonsense. So, this was my first in-person grocery store experience in about 2 years. Needless to say, it further confirmed that Instacart is still the way to go. Checking out was uneventful...in the sense that there was zero interaction between the checker, bagger, and myself. No conversation, no "hello how are you? did you find everything you needed" whatever. Nothing. That aside, I'm going to focus on my experience in the bakery. Because what even are you doing? Downer Deb the bakery queen, I guess...what a delight. Ordering our cake from her was kind of like when you get a hangnail but you're not at home with your trusty clippers so you have no other choice but to rely on your gnawing abilities, but you have a slight overbite so it makes pulling that hang nail out soooo difficult, but darn it if you're not giving it your all and then finally, after about 20 minutes of gnawing, chewing, and pulling you get that thing out, but it's now gushing blood everywhere so it's going to stain your new top. It was like that, but maybe a little more depressing. So you can imagine my procrastination when it came time to pick it up. Fortunately Deb wasn't there! So relieved when the deli girl said, "Oh, no...they are at lunch" in response to, "Hi, I'm here to pick up and pay for a cake." But then realized what she'd said. So I asked, "Surely I can pick up my cake from you or another employee possibly covering bakery pick-ups?" Only to be told that "no, they are at lunch." Customers in the area were verbally and visibly surprised, some chuckled, some raised eyebrows at the deli girl. I again asked, "no one is available to sell me the cake I ordered and was told to pick up today because there was no other day available?" She confirmed with a nod. I said, "would you please call a manager over?" I thought she was going to do that, so I went and grabbed a few items I needed. When I returned to the bakery, nothing had changed. About 20 minutes had gone by so I asked what was happening, is someone coming to assist and she said, "come back, they are at lunch." When it became apparent she wasn't calling anyone to help, I then began looking for anyone who worked at the store. I located someone in the alcohol aisle who apologized profusely and said she would help me and she did, while continuing to apologize. She was the ONLY employee out of every time myself, family, or friends visited this store during our event that was nice to anyone. Every single person had negative experiences and maybe it's worth mentioning, we are from allllll walks of life, so that ain't it. I will continue to Instacart from Safeway and will never step foot into this Lucky's again. What a bummer. When my kids were at O'Hara, we always went to this Lucky's and had no issues. That was many moons ago, things change. Too bad. After reading the other reviews, glad I'm not alone in my experiences. Maybe management should actually do something about these issues rather than just apologize via Yelp. Things are not working at your store. Your bakery is a hot mess express. Your employees are on auto-pilot. You could have a great store, because it's clean, well laid-out, organized. But your employees suck the life out of customers with their blahness. That's all I got. Raley's is just around the corner and yeah it's pricier, but your sanity is worth more. read more

My visit was going great until you were rude at the self check out. Not one person in line, I had 25 items and didn't see the harm in me using the self checkout. I was finished scanning my groceries, still not one person in line, and the register told me that my cucumber was not bagged, and I needed an employee. The employee that was standing there didn't know what to do because she had to call you. So as you took your time looking through my items on the screen, you said "next time you have this many items you need to go to the other line" there was no reason for you to say this to me, you said it to be an asshole and I'm guessing to try to make yourself feel like you have some kind of authority. First time shopping at Lucky's, they have the best employees here. Extremely helpful and friendly. Shoutout to Brandon who helped me get the right information on how to get awards and use them! I shopped on a great day because there was a coupon available for me $10 off $50! And a free sparkling water! He even went out of his way by being a rock star and grabbing it for me! Great above and beyond work for Brandon. Anyways, What a good deal today with the coupons. I also had no problems finding shopping carts, food items on my grocery lists (even the type of fish sauce you wouldn't normally find in American supermarkets! I was surprised!), and a lot of parking. Everything was great! Also the place was packed!!! That means that their rotisserie chicken comes out fresh because so many people purchased them throughout the day. I got 2 just in time! This week I bought a gallon of milk and a pack of pork chops... I think I won't be coming here again. The $4.99 gallon of milk was sour long before its expiration date, Had to dump it out (WASTED more $$$$) and the pork chops were really bad too. The grocery store itself isn't bad. Much better product since it changed BACK over to Lucky's. Better fresh meat, fresh seafood and fresh veggies and fruit. Fresh flowers as well. I prefer to buy my meat and seafood here rather than Raley's up the street. Manager Mike is a really friendly guy, always says hi to me and asks about my shopping needs. Store is clean and presentable. My issue is that the courtesy clerks are annoying! They have no clue how to bag and I'm sick of it! Even the regular baggers that have been there foreeeeeever have no clue how to bag. Seriously, it only takes common sense to bag groceries! I haven't said anything to anyone but now I'm about to vent: COLD/FROZEN WITH THE COLD/FROZEN, PERISHABLE WITH PERISHABLE, NON FOODS WITH THE NON FOODS!!!! Its soooo easy! I have yet to have someone do it right! Most of the time I do it myself cause there are no baggers to be found and I don't want to wait forever. Sometimes they just plop my food into my reusable bags and it bugs the crap outta me! I mean c'mon I don't want my apples bruised any more than they already are, same with my bananas or my bread squished in with my frozen food! So that's why they only get 4 stars. It's disappointing to see Lo stars for this site. This is the closest grocery store to my place and have no complaints! Short or no lines to get inside, plenty of access to carts wipes and sanitizing spray plus towels. The staff are very nice and there's always plenty of supplies when I come here. Especially the fresh produce! Obviously during the first part of the Covid pandemic, everybody was out of toilet paper, paper towels and Clorox wipes.But I appreciated that when they did have it in stock, they were in forcing everybody to one item per family so that others can get a chance to get essentials. I do have to say that the bakery has really good French bread and their lemon pound cake is my favorite. read more

This store has been here since I was a little kid. They have a huge parking lot so parking won't be a problem. The store is medium size. The deli is ok , the meat is also pretty decent here. The store is pretty clean for the most part . There's also a bank inside this store. The cashier was ok but not super helpful. I found it a little pricey . The store is pretty convenient it's easy to get in and out. Overall ok if you're in the area and want something fast. read more

BEWARE!! Horrible customer service!! I place a order for my daughters 2nd Birthday cake to be ready by 1pm. When my niece showed up, she was told no cake order was done. That maybe it was done elsewhere. I called, and when I explained, Kathy the Baker went to check and found my order on the floor. She made the cake and had it ready by 5:45pm. 4 1/2hours later. When picking it up we mentioned most of our guests were gone. My niece got a simply, oh well. I paid $53 for a cake that was extremely late, and lop sided, droopy. Never offered a discount! Called store manager Joe the next morning, and he stated since call went to voicemail I wasn't in any rush. I was having a party to tend to. Just walked out of my local Lucky here in Oakley without my fajitas. Walked up to the meat counter and stud there 5 min watching one meat clerk taking an order, and not being acknowledged. Another meat cutter walking out from the back. Making eye contact, but not actually being acknowledged such as high can I help you? No walked passed and ignored. Absolutely the WORST customer service period. You may have spent a lot of money on making your store look nice with upgrades, but all that money spent was a waste because your meat Dept costumer service FUCKING sucks. All the tiled floors and cosmetic upgrades in the world can't fix shitty people. May want to start there. read more

She seemed a little annoyed by this but I didn't care, she should have taken the time to ask of I wanted mustard or veggies. When opening my sandwich I noticed that the bread was old. Absolutely horrible pharmacy. I've been going here for many years now and just can't handle the poor service anymore. They never answer the phone and always have an attitude. Wow! I've owned my home down the street from the store for almost 12 years and have been a regular customer the entire time! I was there almost every day after work. DOVE is amazing and very professional/efficient/friendly! Most of the staff are great! However after my experience this evening with Debbie I will no longer do the majority of my shopping at this store. I can't give my hard earned money to a store that employs somebody like this woman. This evening would have been only the second time I've ever had to return something in almost 12 years (because I'm just not the return type, It's too much of a hassle I'd rather just eat the loss when they overcharge me etc) However today amongst all the COVID-19 craziness we accidentally bought our grandmothers grocery list twice (once by me, once by my husband). Trying to help GMA because their age are at higher risk of complications from this virus. Honest mistake, miss communication, not a big deal and it was not a ton of stuff, all items were obviously elderly person items, very specific stuff, not typical items we buy or can use ourselves. We had the receipt and had just bought the items! AND MOST IMPORTANTLY NOWHERE IN THE STORE DOES IT SAY THEY ARENT DOING ANY RETURNS!!! In fact the other manager was doing a return while I was paying for my original groceries! Yet Debbie suddenly claimed that they are no longer doing returns lol! Clearly this was just a case of her wanting to have some sort of power (pathetic) and not wanting to bother doing her job! Typical lazy gross rude unhappy employee who shouldn't be working with the public. Somebody needs to school her on the fact that regular customers are the ones who pay her salary! Less customers=less hours or no job! We used to spend almost $1500 a month at that store but not anymore! I will only visit to grab urgent one or two items. We will take the majority of our business to Raleys where they appreciate it and dont treat their regular customers like crap! Not a smart business model. Not a sustainable business practice. Hey so... I love this store, it's my local grocery store... But there's an employee I've observed now engaging in totally inappropriate behavior. In the first instance he was mocking another employee who struggles with a physical disability when she wasn't looking. And if that wasn't bad enough, today I overheard the same employee loudly complaining about respecting people's gender identities. This guy apparently lacks empathy and self-awareness. My visit 1/21/20 was disappointing. I had a gift card that would not scan. Andres was my cashier. He called Lupe to come help and she acted as if she didn't want to help. Looking all mean. Bad customer service at it's best. Had I reacted to her I would have been wrong. I chilled. I was asked to give the card to the cashier. He told her it said type in the 16 digit number on it. She walked away saying, no I'm not doing that. He called her back over from self check. She asked him why he did it. I told you not to do that. I'm looking at her frowning up and walking away. He showed her it worked. She was looking at my receipt as if it was lying. I took it from her. Why you looking at it now. Disgusted with her attitude. I said this is ridiculous. He got it to work.
