Have been bringing my two little dogs there since it was New Hyde Bark! Loved Melanie who worked there! Loved how she cared for my dogs! When she left someone else took care of them and did a really nice job! However the last two times I took them there, Their cuts were awful!! I think someone else did my little toy poodle. Just terrible. All crooked and her ears were no longer fluffy any more, and still aren't!! And now when I give her a bath and blow dry her she is so scared! she hides where ever she can! Go somewhere else!!! Terrible story: I have taken my dog to Lucky Paws Pet Grooming before and it went well and I decided to make an appointment to have my dog groomed there again. I called on Wednesday morning and they told me they had an opening for 9 am On a Thursday. I dropped of Rylie at 9 am and got a call around 10:45 am that they severely cut her under her ear because she moved her head. They told me that she was bleeding a lot and they thought it was best to rush her to the vet. They walked her to New Hyde Park Animal Hospital where I met them there as soon as I hung up the phone. Once I got there I saw two ladies with her from the groomer ( the women who groomed her and the women who was sitting at the front desk when I walked in ). She informed me that Rylie moved her head and she cut her. Yes mistakes happen but I groom and bathe my dog myself and I am no professional! They never apologized once! This cut was from someone who was unprofessional and untrained. They left the vet as soon as I got there and didn't wait to see what needed to be done. Rylie needed not stitches but staples because from how deep this cut was. I am not one to ever leave a negative review and was not going to but they never called once to check in on how she was doing! I am disappointed by how unprofessional and uncaring this establishment is!!! Please avoid They have still not paid the vet bill! Today I found out that the Supervisor/Manager on site is leaving. (KIM) This here is now going to become a disaster. It is sad when a Boss does not recognize a dedicated employee that loves animals and shares her Heart with each and every one that comes in the door. BOSS you will never replace her, and good help is rare and hard to find. So good Luck with that! Your bottom line is definitely going to suffer. The service that you offer is like caring for an elderly person, you want the best from the person that picks up the phone to person who hands you your fur baby at the end. You will no longer have that. HER WHOLE HEART IS IN IT. I am so unhappy that she is leaving and with that, I too will not be back. I have been going to Lucky Paws for about 3 years now, I gave a review in the beginning and even though I read the reviews that were UNFAVORABLE, I have to say, I have never had an issue, I take my 3 (three) (they are known as the TRIO) fur babies there and I do the works. KIM has always been the sweetest to them, she really cares about the animals, she goes above and beyond to get you in and makes you feel comfortable. I brought my 12 year Havapoo in for grooming. She was there for hours. I got a call that they had an emergency so it took longer and nobody called me. I finally go to pick her up and I pay. My poor girl comes out limping! the groomer tells me she's aggressive which she is not. They hurt her and now I have to go to the vet because she will not let me touch her front foot. The girl at desk that spoke English told me she was there all day and nothing happened but on the phone they said had personal emergency and had to leave for a while. I'm beside myself. read more

I have been taking my golden doodle to Lucky paws in New Hyde Park for the past couple of years. They were good in the beginning and have been declining for the last year. Seems like they have a high turnover with their groomers. Today was the last straw. My dog Maverick had a 1230 appt. Which he was on time. I have always told them he needs to be groomed & picked up asap. He gets very stressed when confined in a kennel. When I asked Tamara when he would be done, she told me 2 hrs. I called 2 and 1/2 hrs. later to find out if Maverick was not done. Tamara said Mai would need another 2 hours. I said "What you told me it would be 2 hrs total. I was appalled. I waited almost an hour more & then went to see what was going on. I walked in & they said he was washed only. I asked if he was dry & they said no. I would have taken him out of there at that point. But then they brought out Maverick to start grooming & it was the wrong dog. Then when they brought Maverick out I find out he was groomed already but they did not do his legs. Why would they do the body & not the legs & put him in the back again. I walked out of Lucky Paws not feeling lucky. Left there at 5 pm. My dog was not accustomed to spending 5 hours at the groomers. This place used to be New Hyde Bark grooming. My sister and I have been going there for almost 15 years because I loved how they cut our dogs hair. When new ownership took over, we still continued to bring our dogs here even though it became pricey. My sister last name changed when she got married. We both have separate accounts for our dogs. I always would drop off my dog and my sister's dog together and they charged the two dogs together. However, when my parents went to go pick up the two dogs they told them that they couldn't be paid together. They had to be paid separately since they were under different accounts. My parents were so furious with them because both dogs were always paid together. They told the cashier guy that we always pay the dogs together. He was rude and still said no it has to be separate. My parents ended up paying for it. It turned out they wanted more money. Charging under separate accounts mean that they will tax twice. I called the manger she said the same thing saying that it's under separate accounts. She said she will give me a discount off for next time. I'm not happy and I will never come back to this place. The cashier guy was rude and the prices for this place is pricey! I found another grooming place that does everything for a much better price. read more

These two stars have nothing to do with the actual grooming. One star each goes to the two staff members who helped jumpstart our car. As for the grooming, I would have been better off going to a barbershop. No disrespect to barbers. We brought our golden doodle and shih-pooh for grooming. The golden doodle was matted so they completely stripped her coat and left her unrecognizable. Her face was completely trimmed and not a whisker in sight. My shih-pooh was unevenly trimmed with stringy pieces left uncut on her ears and snout. The final touch on our shih-poo was the nail clipping in which they cut her so deep that it left her bleeding. She was still bleeding when we got home and leaving blood trails around the house. I should have went with my gut feeling when greeted by one of the groomers who was unfriendly. We felt extremely rushed. They have been unresponsive by phone to no avail. Do not bring your dog here if you are looking for love and care and actual grooming. The first thing I see when pulling into the drive way are happy dogs barking waiting to be groomed. The staff is super sweet and took my little princess right in and even offered a blueberry facial like can I get one too? Lol I been wanting to find a new groomers for my lil pooch and I feel in love the first visit.
