Lucky Shoals is located off Britt Road close to Jimmy Carter. I haven't been to Lucky Shoals in so many years. Back then, I used to come here to watch the guys play basketball. I vaguely remember it now. What brought me back is the walking trail that I never knew existed and wanted a change of scenery. Right before traffic gets busy, I decided to get there before the park gets packed. There were a handful of people there, either playing basketball or walking the trail. The trail is a 360 loop around the park. It's hilly and iOS yoir walking game. You could attempt to ru it but you may be out of breath by the time you get downhill. Another plus of the trail is it's shaded so you're away from the scorching sun and won't need your sunglasses. In the past besides coming for the basketball scenes, I also came for the picnic and bbq. I've read negative reviews about the unsafetiness at the park. If you want a good walking trail in a short amount of time, come. If not, head out to Camp Creek Greenway Trail in Lilburn. Lucky Shoals also offers classes in its building in the front. Came here to learn more about their activities and sports, etc. it looks like it's a beautiful park & with nice view trails, good parking lot, cute playground, I almost loved it. But then awful, rudely customer services, they don't know days, times of anything plus it felt very unsafe, and we got scared walking during the night because of the very tough crowd around there. read more

I like Lucky Shoals Park for a number of reasons. I like that this park had a recreation center where they post open gym for basketball, yoga, etc. There's also a number of outside courts for practice or basketball games. I don't really come here to play basketball but I have watched a few games here and there. I like the trail here's for the most part but only when I don't have my son and his stroller. I have to use his carrier when I have him because the trail isn't a smooth travel. The bumps, rocks and stumps on the way make it hard to have a nice walk and have a calm baby. The trail is great for a workout, though so I'd definitely recommend it for that. At times, it gets a little rowdy with the high school kids and older teens so I would advise to stay aware of your surroundings. Also make sure you don't leave valuables in your car. If you want a more quiet setting with a dog park. There's another park less than a mile from this one with a smooth trail and more open space. read more

I visited Lucky Shoals Park on a beautiful November morning to get in a little pre-Thanksgiving exercise (as if that was going to make a big difference). Regardless, I wanted to enjoy the warm southern sun and check out what I've been told are "some of the best parks in the country (Gwinnett County)." I grabbed my iPod and hit the 1.14 mile paved trail, which loops around the perimeter of the park. I liked the variety of uphill and downhill twists and turns through the surrounding woods. I couldn't help but stop a couple of times to take some pictures of the nice trail and colorful foliage. There are also outdoor basketball courts, baseball fields, tennis courts and picnic pavilions, which I imagine are busy during the summer. After three laps, I left the trail went into the main complex building, which houses basketball and volleyball courts. Definitely a spacious and well maintained facility. I wish more municipalities put the time, effort and money into community gems like this. read more

This is one of our favorite Gwinnett Parks for walking. The trail is paved and well-maintained, and long and hilly enough for exercising. It's wooded, beautiful, and peaceful, and it seems safe. There are nice pavilions near the playground. The activity building is also well-maintained, and has clean restrooms. Vending machines are there, too. Plenty of parking. read more

Lucky Shoals Park has one of the nicest trails to run, walk, jog, or ride your bike. It's my go to park to train for my up coming races. The playground is a really nice size for the little ones to enjoy playing. The recreational center offers all kinds of classes you can sign up for during different times of the year. Just drop by the front desk and ask for a class schedule where you'll find times and prices to all they offer. read more

This one mile (?) circular trail was awesomely shaded from the scorching run. It was clean and had a play area for kids and picnic area for adults. Parking was plentiful as the community center was a fairly large complex. The community center itself was air conditioned. :) There was a mini game room with ping pong tables, air hockey, and a foosball table. There was also a basketball court that half turned into a volleyball section. On top of this, there were empty rooms that can be booked. My friend and I saw there was a fancy gathering of some sort. This wasn't it. We saw a children's karate class, small dance studio, and a classroom area. Needless to say, this complex was huge. I believe there were tennis courts towards the back of the center as well. Oh. And all of this was available on a Saturday morning. I am unsure of the weekend hours, but for sure there was accessibility on a Sat. read more

Great place to take a hike. Slightly hilly and paved. An amazing variety of people are here. I was dismayed at the amount of trash from the second time I went there to last weekend. It would be nice to see some recycling bins there. Some people are very irresponsible with their dogs here. read more

This review is for the walking trail. I'm a frequent guest to my local Gwinnett parks and decided to try this one for something new. The loop for this park seems more hidden or unexposed compared to the other parks near me. This means there are a weak stretches, actually most of the trail, where you are walking in an area with trees on both sides which makes it feel a little isolated. This isn't bad, but just an observation. Also this park is really really hilly compared to others. If you want to practice hill running this is a good place to do it at. For my interests it was a little too hilly to run but made for a challenging walk. read more

Jogging this place is like taking a mini-world tour through Atlanta. Outside of a trip to one of the Farmer's Markets (along Bu-Hi or in Gwinnett), it is hard to see something like this. Run along the path (1.1 miles around), and you'll likely see the following... ... 2 or 3 soccer games going on (at once)... ... Several intense pickup basketball games... ... Cricket (yes, THAT cricket) going on at certain times... ... Indoor volleyball teams made up of people who normally would not be talking to one another. ... Intense games of ping pong going on between a Chinese grandma and a young dude from Ethiopia. ... Couples on the tennis courts... ... Several families grilling meat or having picnics... One of the better parks you're likely to find in the metro. Despite its popularity in recent years, its remained fairly clean and respectful, and is a great place to do some laps. read more

Park is well maintained and clean. It has many facilities and my dog loves the 1.14 mile path with access to a small creek.

This center was very nice to use for a Spring Break camp for a family member. It was well run and fees were fair. There are basketball courts, a gym, tennis courts, walking trail, classrooms. It is a clean facility and well kept. You can reserve their facilities online. Everything can be explored online by looking up this park or another at www.gwinnettparks.com. Summer is coming and there are many fun day camps to explore and register for right now. Non-Gwinnett residents pay $20 in addition to listed fees. Hope this was helpful. read more

I visited this park to take a walk with my SO around 6 pm and there were numerous teenagers playing basketball, a group of families at the playground, and several people enjoying the trail. Everything seemed lively and the weather was still sunny. I finished one lap and decided to go home. I started to unlock my car, but alas, I came up unsuccessful. It was as if something was blocking the key from turning. I looked carefully and saw that the metal side of the lock was dented inwards. Strange. I unlocked my car from the passenger's side. Everything looked the same in my car, except money was missing from my wallet, which was kept hidden from sight. And that, my friends, is the story of how my car (now with a dysfunctional lock) got broken into, at Lucky Shoals Park, in broad daylight. Never coming back. read more

I love this park. So peaceful and clean. I usually come here to walk the trail. I like that it has mile markers and is slight hilly in some places, so even if you walk like me, you still may break a sweat (a small one). It is very nicely shaded for most of it so even walking on a summer day is bearable. I see people saying they've got dance classes in the rec center so perhaps I'll check those out. read more
