Lucky Shoals is located off Britt Road close to Jimmy Carter. I haven't been to Lucky Shoals in so many years. Back then, I used to come here to watch the guys play basketball. I vaguely remember it now. What brought me back is the walking trail that I never knew existed and wanted a change of scenery. Right before traffic gets busy, I decided to get there before the park gets packed. There were a handful of people there, either playing basketball or walking the trail. The trail is a 360 loop around the park. It's hilly and iOS yoir walking game. You could attempt to ru it but you may be out of breath by the time you get downhill. Another plus of the trail is it's shaded so you're away from the scorching sun and won't need your sunglasses. In the past besides coming for the basketball scenes, I also came for the picnic and bbq. I've read negative reviews about the unsafetiness at the park. If you want a good walking trail in a short amount of time, come. If not, head out to Camp Creek Greenway Trail in Lilburn. Lucky Shoals also offers classes in its building in the front. Definitely, go check it out. 32/2017

    A beautiful morning walk

I visited Lucky Shoals Park on a beautiful November morning to get in a little pre-Thanksgiving exercise (as if that was going to make a big difference). Regardless, I wanted to enjoy the warm southern sun and check out what I've been told are "some of the best parks in the country (Gwinnett County)." I grabbed my iPod and hit the 1.14 mile paved trail, which loops around the perimeter of the park. I liked the variety of uphill and downhill twists and turns through the surrounding woods. I couldn't help but stop a couple of times to take some pictures of the nice trail and colorful foliage. There are also outdoor basketball courts, baseball fields, tennis courts and picnic pavilions, which I imagine are busy during the summer. After three laps, I left the trail went into the main complex building, which houses basketball and volleyball courts. Definitely a spacious and well maintained facility. I wish more municipalities put the time, effort and money into community gems like this.

Park is well maintained and clean. It has many facilities and my dog loves the 1.14 mile path with access to a small creek.

Great little walking loop. Pretty hilly and very pretty. Probably about a mile. We enjoyed very much.

Relaxing, peaceful, wrote some music in silence. Tennis courts, basketball courts, gym, baseball field, and more. Love it

The layout is fun and the park itself is beautiful, especially in the winter when the leaves are thin and you can actually see the baskets through the trees. That said, the course could really benefit from clearer signage. Several pads weren't well marked, and we even had to skip a hole because we couldn't figure out where it started or ended. Since we only had time to play about half the course, we found ourselves spending more minutes navigating than throwing. I can't imagine how tough it must be in the summer when everything is fully leafed out -- it's probably like searching for a needle in a haystack. Still, it's a solid course in a great park, and with better markings it could easily be a five‑star experience.

I had no idea this was an annual thing and am happy that the city of Dunwoody does this and am definitely looking forward to next year's lights. While there were a ton of people, there was plenty of parking and I appreciated that there was an officer there to keep the flow of cars moving along. The park itself had several playgrounds and I loved they were padded. The kids had a blast on slides, swings and running around in the wide open space. The bathrooms were clean which always makes things even better. The kids had a blast playing with all the other kids and this is definitely a playground I'd come back to visit.

I read some of the info posted along the paths near the fountains and learned that Roswell actually used to be part of Cobb County. I had no idea and found that really interesting having just moved here to Georgia earlier in the year. They had some other facts about the area and history on that part of the river too. What was great about this park was that it was pretty dead on a weekday morning. A lot of other parks are usually busy at this time, since we are still going thru the pandemic of course. I think we only saw one other person on the trail (with plenty of room to distance) and one other person parked in a car off to the side of the trail. We enjoyed the seclusion. I liked everything about the park - the gazebo and fountain area, the view of the river down the trail, the historical value, etc. Just a nice place to exercise or go to relax. I hope to be back soon.

I have offered him a waste bag but he refused it. He walks his pet and he does not remove the solid waste from his dog. Pet owners are required to remove solid pet waste per the park code. It is not monitored and this park is turning into a disgusting park for Peachtree Corners citizens. Uncollected pet waste is not just a nuisance; it acts as a breeding ground for bacteria like E. Coli and parasites that can pollute local waterways. Solutions need to be put in place: like setting up security cameras to identify offenders or posting additional signs stating park codes require removal of solid pet waste with a number to report violators. This is a wonderful, nice park if it is kept clean and safe. Violators need to be warned and repeat offenders need to be fined or banned from using the park.
