I have lived close to this park for years and not taken advantage of it. This year I had spine surgery and I need to walk and exercise for health benefits and the close proximity to my house made this the perfect place to begin my recovering walking outdoors. I love going there now especially in the evenings as it is the perfect close location to see beautiful sunsets. It has varied paths around the lake, around the pool area above and around the sports fields so you don't get bored walking. I love the fountain in the lake and the gazebo and all the birds that gather there. I wish the park area itself were bigger and not so close to a busy road as that takes away from the ambiance but Lenora Church Park has those features but the lake isn't nearly as pretty. I love watching the geese, the Muscovy and Mallard ducks and the shy blue heron who never lets me get a good picture of him. I notice all the birds love beautiful sunsets as much as I do and I have sat with them on the main lake taking pictures of them and watching as they slowly decide it is dark enough to get out as I imagine the youngest ones are being coaxed by mom to come on and get out of the water. My only issue is that the restrooms next to the lake keep getting vandalized and then locked and not repaired or even if they aren't vandalized they are being locked. That penalizes older folks like me who need access to facilities more often. Then yesterday I went and three separate restrooms were locked with no reason given why. If this is a staffing issue it should be addressed. If this is a safety issue as in there have been crimes committed and it is being done for safety then the park needs to notify the public. Otherwise if they keep the restrooms open I would give it a four star rating and five star if it were further from a busy road. I have lived in this area for 21 years and I hate that I waited till this last year to take advantage of something so close and I honestly love walking there otherwise. We have been using the pool as well every summer for 21 years. It needs repair. I understand they are adding a brand new complex that will include an indoor walking track and I am excited by that however the pool has had broken steps in the deep end and been rather dirty looking on the bottom especially last year. They also took away chairs years ago because of vandalism which again punishes the many for the actions of a few. The lifeguards seem to have less training as well throughout the years and enforce rules selectively and sometimes seem not to be paying attention at all to what's happening at the pool and seem bored. They often let people stay in the water on the side of the diving board after jumping off the diving board and no adults seem to be paying attention to whether they enforce rules or not or giving them guidance on how to enforce the rules. I don't say anything to the lifeguards anymore like I used to. I just pray no one gets hurt as they allow unsafe conditions to exist and are afraid to discipline pool goers for fear of looking uncool I guess. That is however their job and they should be supervised to do it correctly. The lifeguards also made people get out of the water fifteen minutes earlier than closing time. This year they made the adults as well as children get out for fifteen minutes every hour because they said they were understaffed and needed that to give breaks to the lifeguards. That's a ridiculous punitive rule for the paying public to have to go by. You should staff your pools so this isn't necessary. The other thing that bothered me is they hired armed guards to be at the pool this year. I know there have been shootings at the park but having armed guards and not knowing their training or whether or not they know how to deescalate situations was unnerving and I believe overkill. I would not place armed guards at a family public pool for any reason. This seems like it could escalate into violence or lead to someone getting shot by a security guard for no reason. The pool staff which were mainly kids seemed accustomed to them and liked them but for me that was just bad decision making by park staff. Unarmed guards if any guards at all who have a good rapport with police would be a better choice imo. Also if you are going to spend millions on new facilities,(which I am sure they are) please fix the pool,as it needs resurfacing and fixing of steps and fresh paint and new brightly colored plastic pieces that work in the kiddie pool, and other facilities like restrooms and exercise equipment throughout the park with some of that money as well. read more

It took me a minute to make it to this park because I had always associated this park to violence and I hate that for me. This park is beautiful! Probably my favorite park in Gwinnett this far. Plenty of gazebos and bathrooms if you want to have an outdoor event. Also plenty of parking throughout the park. They have tennis courts and a lot of other extracurricular activities and things you can sign up for. The park was still under construction when I went but as far as walking paths, the trails seem to be pretty short. I will definitely go back after construction is completed and then I would have a better idea. They are a lot of geese, ducks, and some other bird species but they seem to do a really good job of keeping the park clean especially from bird poop. I will definitely be back! read more

3.5~ I still love this park's scenery, overall tranquil vibe, and feeding the geese/ducks, of course. However, I visited today, 2/8/23, and my rating has dropped from five stars for several reasons. First of all, the ladies' room near the back entrance (closer to the nursing home) had no soap, and the lock on the only stall in there was broken. Luckily, I was in a group where members could assist each other, but if you're by yourself and need to use the facilities, you may be out of luck with an open door. Additionally, the bathrooms that are up on the hill in the middle of the park are 9/10 times dirty, so the bathroom near the back entrance is usually preferable. I believe there are more restrooms near the front end of the park by the sports complex, but those can be kind of far if you're in a rush and parked in the back like we did. Another reason my rating has decreased slightly is that the fountain in the middle of the little lake was either shut off or removed. It was something extra to admire here and at Garrard Landing, but no longer, I guess. Maybe the change will just be temporary. Who knows... Part of the walking loop around the lake has been cut off also if you're coming from the wooded trail. You have to access it by going left on the loop from the back parking lot or coming thru the lot towards the middle back instead. Either way, you can't make a full loop around the lake, so it's not as seemless a trek anymore. These are my biggest complaints here, so there are other parks that have much worse things going on, of course. However, it's enough in my eyes to detract from the experience at some level. I hope this park can go back to the way it used to be and regain some of its earlier prestige. read more

Probably the most beautiful parks in Snellville, Briscoe park is a breath of fresh air and a wow around every corner. On my day off, I went searching for local parks and my GPS led me to Briscoe park, which is a pretty normal looking park from the road, and even the main parking lot, but just get on the trails! Those trails make up about 1.2 miles of paved trail, which meanders its way around the 6 acre lake, which is beautiful at every angle. Accessibility of the trails is literally available to everyone, from infants in strollers to the elderly in wheel chairs (I saw them out there folks!), mainly because the trails are typically wide, flat and with very little hilly or strenuous areas, so walk around a couple of times! The unique part of the trails are they have exercise stations throughout, so you can stop and get your eliptical on, do some dips, or flys. This kind of thought going into the park for those wanting to get cardio walks in while doing some upper body is kinda cool! If you're not feeling the trails or the lake, don't worry, because the following are here to entertain you: Basketball court Baseball fields Soccer fields Swimming pools Tennis Courts Volleyball field multiple bbq grills open air pagodas multiple children play areas Multiple clean restrooms several working water fountains Briscoe park has the heart of a North GA state park, but in a local setting, and while i'm sad it took me so long to get here, I'll definitely be back, and I hope you get to visit, enjoy and return yourself! read more

Briscoe Park is a hidden gem, tucked away in plain sight. While visiting the area for the weekends with my cousins, I was looking for a place to walk/ take pictures; nothing too strenuous but a chance to stretch my legs and take some pictures. The trails are paved, so don't expect a rugged walk, but they meander through the trees and circled around a lake which is located in the middle of the park. I think the trails are only a couple miles long. It was the perfect amount! If you are into photography, this park provides a million photo opportunities.The heart of this park lies within it's lake, which is located in the middle of the park. The trails circled the lake, which provides a beautiful view of nature's wildlife (ducks, birds, and etc). The park also have a feeding machine so any visitor can feed the ducks. Briscoe Park is wonderful and beautiful. I'm a fan and will certainly come back if I find myself in need of some quiet times for a photo shoot. read more

If I had been writing a review about Bricoe park when I was 11 years-old I probably would have given the place 5 stars. Briscoe park has lost any and all appeal to me though now that I am an adult. It has not lost the appeal is once had because I am older and do not involve myself in recreational sports. Briscoe has always been the host for mainly Soccer and baseball recreation teams. The field for recreational sports at the park can be altered to accommodate kids of all ages and even those adults out there who have started their own softball team or whatever. I personally spent most of my time at this park playing on the volleyball courts with all of my high school friends. The only complaint I ever really had about their volleyball court accommodations is that there was only three courts to play on, two of which were hard court and one sand. This would cause controversy and arguments between different large groups that arrived with the intentions of playing a particular afternoon. The park also has a lake that stretches around the right side. Unfortunately, it seems as though the lake has become muddy and polluted over the years, eliminating a majority of the wild life that used to hang out there in the past. read more

Tennis! Came here for tennis, great courts, well kept. Four total courts side by side, there's one net that acts as a partition in the middle separating them two-and-two. One court had a practice wall that you can use until your tennis partner arrives. There seemed to be tons of parking, which makes sense for what seems to be a decently sized area. The rest of the park looked very spacious. They had one or two soccer fields nearby. You could hear the cheering by exuberant dads as their kids played a little league soccer match next door. There's also loads of flat ground around the park if you wanted to do frisbee or something. I just put 4 stars because the grass didn't seem too green. That obviously didn't bother me because I was on courts. It's still a great park with lots to do. I'll probably be back soon. read more

Ok park. It has a lovely pond in the middle with a paved trail and swing benches around it. There are lots of geese you can feed ( the park provides the food for a fee of course) my biggest turn off is the amount of bird poop everywhere, but as I said there are a lot of geese so it is to be expected. There is a paved trail section away from the pond, located on the other side of the parking lot that I would recommend using instead because it's a lot cleaner. Along the trial are built in workout equipment, which are old but still very functional. The park also has a small playground, grilling areas, a pool and an open field. read more

This is the crown jewel of Snellville. The 1.5 mike trail has exercise equipment and is good for medium intensity walks or runs. Also, there are plenty of ball fields and a terrific aquatic center for the kids. The real highlight is the pond and surrounding park. They have these fantastic swing benches, allowing you to sit and enjoy the scenery. This is a good park for relaxation. read more

This is a park that is well past it's glory days. While I appreciated the parkour stations throughout the park, everything was run down and discolored. The swimming pool was opened and packed. The trail I walked had two playgrounds. The playground for older chidden was run down. The toddler playground was nice. This parks needs some renovations and security. There were dogs without leashes and people smoking near the trail. Overall, given the amount of quality parks in Gwinnett I'm not likely to return to this one. read more

WHAT A SURPRISE! I really don't know what I expected when I ventured into this park today but everything was a total surprise in a very good way. Throughout this park, everything just appeared clean, orderly and in good repair. It has every thing you could possibly want, lots of trees for shade, a lake, water features, sports fields, a swimming pool with a spray pad, integrated exercise equipment, trash containers throughout, covered pavilions, restrooms, great walking paths, well place picnic tables, an enclosed pavilion which is great for inclement weather and probably so much more that I did not get to see. I was absolutely impressed and even a bit envious. Pate lake is beautiful and has a couple of fountains that are constantly spraying. It is the perfect backdrop for special photos or a romantic walk. This lake has ducks and designated feeding areas with appropriate food provided. Please do not feed the ducks bread or any other food as it could be fatal. I really enjoyed seeing the young people out enjoying the park on a Saturday morning, (instead of being in front of a television or some other screen). There were kids skate boarding, running and playing soccer. Perfect! This park is definitely conducive to getting in shape and adopting a more active lifestyle. So what are you waiting for? Briscoe used to be a really nice park, but it has been around for awhile, and has seen better days. It's still always packed with families and little league teams, and it has plenty of space to do just about any activity you can think of. The sand volleyball courts and tennis courts used to be tricky (sometimes locked, sometimes not, sometimes free, sometimes not), but I hope they have fixed those since I last used them a couple of years ago. Watch out for duck "presents" on the trails and sidewalks! read more

As the last Yelp review is quite old, I'll update by saying that I really like Briscoe Park! It is well laid out with PLENTY of room for playing Soccer, Baseball, Basketball, and Tennis in the good ole outdoors. There is an ample amount of shaded picnic benches available as well as nice hiking trails and paths. They do have a pool but I have never used it. Plenty of parking space too! The park is kept up with and clean with a nice pond area and restroom facilities. read more
