But this time, we decided to mix it up and booked an AirBNB on the edge of downtown. Before rolling in, we had researched the dining options for dinner and we saw that there was a Pie Pizzeria location in town. Both of us were familiar with this regional favorite, having been to the original location across from Utah State in Salt Lake. We had enjoyed that experience and were content to trust even a strip mall knockoff. But, merely as a formality, I skimmed the recommendations here on Yelp before we headed out. Taste - one of the most important things when eating out is obviously having good food. Lucky slice has that nailed! Their pizza is delicious, they use quality and fresh ingredients, and have really creative toppings on their pizza. They also have other great options on their menu. I ate their chocolate chip cookie and thought it was one of the best cookies I have ever had, only to find out later that it was vegan. 2. Customer service - Their customer service is awesome as well. You can tell that upper management trains their employees well and takes care of them. I have always been helped right away by their kind employees. 3. Restaurant ambiance - The restaurant on 25th street has a very cool vibe. They have an arcade game you can play while you wait and chalk board walls you can doodle on as well. There have done a good job at fitting a lot of seating into a smaller space without making it feel way too crowded. The old exposed brick on the walls is really awesome too. I've been here a couple times before, and waiting about 15-20 for a slice is usual, but tonight was the exception. Not only did it take almost 50 minutes for my family to get 3 slices, but when we asked to speak to the manager regarding the wait time after we watched four people behind us get their food, eat, and leave, we were told our pizzas were almost done. When we were FINALLY handed our slices, we were just told sorry.... I don't know if they were unprepared for the harvest thingy going on tonight, but the wait time, service, AND quality of pizza was horrible. My daughters pizza was so burnt on the bottom she took one bite and refused to eat more. I'm all for supporting small businesses but for how much I pay, I think I deserve better quality food. Went their for lunch during a business trip. I ordered a few pizza slices, a salad and a drink. The pizza was like warm and tasted pretty plain. The salad was ok and the soda flat. So if this was a cheap lunch, I might have just thought, well, low cost food, probably explains it, but this was not cheap, the food was pretty expensive. Amazing food haven't ever had about experience highly recommended for me by family and other people

This place has a new location since I come here last year. It's expanded to including a much bigger seating area. They are located right in the middle old town and they specialize in slices but also have salads and wings. They have a few vegan options on the pizza menu and offer also vegan wings made of cauliflower. I've tried three of the vegan pizza offerings and they are pretty good. They do a thinner NY style pizza which I appreciate as I'm not into a lot of bread in my pizza. They do not follow normal protocol with their toppings just an FYI. They will mix all kinds of ethnicities from BBQ Hawaiian to Indian and mix it up with a USA Americana style w/bacon to give you a pizza from all sides of the globe. Overall I liked the pizzas but I will say I'm a bit of a traditionalist so these pizzas go a little to the "left" of my persuasion but hey I definitely partake as they still are overall tasty. They have a combo meal with soda and salad but I've always passed as I don't do soda anymore. If that's your thing then it's a deal. Other than that this is a good spot to get a slice of vegan or non-vegan offerings in the area that will not break the bank. Pretty decent overall. read more

I've been to Slack Water numerous times over the past few years, it's great to have a place to buy pizza at in downtown Ogden especially when they have a great beer selection. My knock on this place is the food seems to be inconsistent. One day the pizza will be fresh and hot with chewy crust, the next its crispy and over cooked. The service is also suspect sometimes, sometimes the wait for a slice is 2 minutes after ordering, other times 15 minutes. This is a fine place for a slice when you're out on the town, inconsistent product and service are what brings its rating down a little in my humble opinion. read more

The pizza was phenomenal (could be a little crispier in the crust, but I'm not complaining at all). Great taste, not super greasy. I'm giving this place 4 stars thus far... I've been in Ogden alot this last little bit doing some consulting and Lucky Slice has been very consistent. The crust was solid for a thin crisp sliced pie. The sauce is the only thing that I'll complain about and that's just because it'd be nice to have a smidgen more. But for SLC locals it's very comparable to the pie hole. There are daily choices/specials plus standard selections and all are on point for the style of pizza they offer. The staff is great here, the service is fast and they have an ok beer selection. I've been here quite a few times, those lonely Saturday nights (or Sunday early mornings at 1:30am), on my days off, with friends, with coworkers. I just haven't had time to review.. Let me just clarify, THIS IS THE BEST DARN PIZZA I HAVE EVER HAD! My reasons for such, let's dissect this like I do some things in class, the ideal specimen: the margherita. The crust: The CRUST! I have no clue if it's the yeast they use, the flour, the water or simply just because it's so thin I don't know and when you think it about it, heck why does it matter that crust will change your life! It's tender, chewy, fluffy, crunchy, and a bit yeasty. A complex contradiction. The toppings: The marinara that is used on this specimen is minimal. It's really tasty with the smells of oregano, basil, acidic tomatoes and just a bit garlicy, but they know modesty. The cheese is perfectly leveled and not overpowering at all. The finishing drizzle of balsamic. Oh I wanna cry. The crust, marinara, balsamic and cheese set the stage for the real stars. Who might the real stars be you say? THE REAL TOMATOES AND BASIL THEY USE! The tomatoes are cut into perfect size where the heat will penetrate them enough to get the sugars flowing, not into giant slabs where the tomatoes won't even warm, but not small enough where the heat will turn them into sauce. Then the basil. That basil is fresh, aromatic and not either mediocre nor overpowering. The perfect balance. I am biased and every time I eat any other margherita pizza anywhere, I compare it to Lucky's. And none has hit that perfect 10 note that this one delivers. I have had other pizzas from Lucky's but if something works, why replace it? I LOVE the fact they have Boylans, and local drinks, the atmosphere is wonderful, all their workers are rad.. Now lemme tell you some cons.. Their beer selection, for being a pizza pub is pretty mediocre. A wings spot down the road has a wider selection. I had their draft Sum R Ale and full suspension pale ale, they were good but their beer menu could vastly increase knowing that their rival down Washington has an 8 page beer menu that even has CHIMAY! Expand the beers, and just wish they had more seating inside! Other than that let me finish with these words.. Lemme tell ya, I'll eat this pizza on the curb. It is that GOOD! read more

We ordered take out and I loved the pizza. For some reason our kids hated it but for me I could eat this everyday. I love the carnivore. The meats are good quality, just the right amount of sauce, and I love the thin crust. My wife ordered a combo I think and she loved it. We split a third piece but I'm not sure the name of it but it was pretty good. The breadsticks are so good here. Nice and soft. The slices are huge so you are getting a good deal.
