Overdone and not really a bowling alley I'd care to frequent again; it's just too expensive and flashy. It took forever to get a beer and when I finally did, I immediately ordered another one for fear they'd have to brew that one as well. The food that we ordered was meh at best and not the least bit memorable. The lanes were super greasy and made for rather lackluster bowling, so I was glad that I didn't lug my own ball down there. Lots of fun, good music, beer, and even good lanes. Also, several pool tables you can reserve if you get bored of bowling. We stopped by for a couple hours this past weekend and had a blast! When did bowling get this cool? I've noticed a resurgence in bowling lately. In fact, a recent job I briefly held featured an official staff night out every week, and we bowled at least one out of every three or four staff nights. However, my coworkers and I bowled at a seedy joint off Federal that looks more like what you'd expect from a bowling alley. Lucky Strike, on the other hand, could fool you into thinking that it's just there to serve you drinks and confuse you about exactly what that item on the sandwich menu might be. If you're like me, you'll be struck by the cuteness and flirtiness of the waitresses and forget to ask what that sandwich actually is, and end up stammering, "I'll have a burger," instead. Those outfits belong on girls serving drinks at a strip club, but the male clientelle isn't complaining! Oh, and they have bowling, too- but it almost seems like an afterthought once you're done socializing and checking out the cocktail waitresses. read more

If you're in the mood to get a little more dressed up, sip a martini and bowl- hey this is your place, not you're typical bowling outing. There are two locations in the area, one at Bel Mar and the other in the Pavilions downtown. The decor is retro-lounge with low vinyl couches, big round booths, neon lights. It cracks me up that there is a dress code in a bowling alley but this is the Mad Men version of a bowling alley. And, yes, they offer bottle service. The prices are higher, although a Coors draft was only $2. There is a full menu with lots of food options but again $8 for chips and salsa is a little insane. The service was absolutely terrible! If you are going to charge that much for chips, my server better be outstanding, or at least bring water without being asked four times. Keep in mind, there were only three other groups in the whole place, so let's not try to think "maybe it was just busy". The crowd is on the younger side to match the downtown location. It is 21+ after 9pm. It's a good place for a party and I've even attended an office party there. They do offer an event menu in addition on packages if you want to both bowl and play pool at one of their many tables. If you are going to go do it with a big group and make a reservation. We just had our daughter's 8th birthday here. Overall, we had a great experience. Reserving the party was tricky. We filled out an online form to request information and didn't get a call back for a week. So don't bother doing this - just call. The person in charge of booking parties was Amanda. She was great on the phone, very professional and knowledgable, but if you left a message for her, she would never call you back and I had to call her repeatedly to get her to send both the payment link and the contract. She must be very busy, but it was just added stress no one needs. The day of, our lanes were ready for us. Our server Fallon was awesome. The kids had a great time. We paid for 9 kids, so that we could get two lanes. (If you book for 8, you only get one lane, which is too much waiting around for kids, IMO). We did an hour of bowling and an hour in the arcade. The kids had a blast and had plenty of points on their cards to play all the games they wanted ($20 cards included in our party package). I highly recommend organizing your kiddos into pairs and having one adult per pair. We didn't realize how large it was and walked in with no game plan. The kids ran in all directions and we were afraid we would lose one of them. We had 7 kids and 3 adults and it was a little stressful. (They were mostly 7 year olds, so not entirely able to be trusted not to wander off) In all, I would definitely recommend Lucky Strike for a kids birthday. For 9 kids - 1 hour of bowling, 1 hour of arcade, plus pizza and two sides and lemonade, we paid around $300 which I thought was a good price. (Plus we bought our own cake and goody bags) Just be ready to chase down Amanda to get everything booked. :) read more

I came here recently while in town visiting family and friends. We came for the $2 Tuesday special (games and drinks, but the only $2 drinks were Coors Light and kamikaze shots...blech) The food was totally average. The bouncer(?) highly recommended the short rib tacos, but who visits from TX and pays $12 for tacos? Not us. My husband and brother-in-law seemed decently satisfied with their wings. I got some sliders which were your typical fancified bar food (I got the blue cheese/arugula/caramelized onion..if anything they seemed heavy on the meat and chintzy on the toppings). The fries were NOT Belgian as described... rather limp actually. The sauces for the fries were pretty good and the chimichurri aioli was the best part of the meal, in my opinion. :) The lanes seemed much more narrow than regular bowling lanes. The hubby's typical speedy curveball kept going straight into the gutter, which ticked him off to no end! He was also quite disgruntled that the lanes were not properly oiled (this I couldn't really notice at first, but then I did start to feel like I needed to throw the ball down the lane much harder than usual). The lanes are all pretty close to each other too, so I can't imagine what it must be like on a weekend night. You could very well find yourself all up in someone's bachelorette party. Eesh. I came to lucky strike last night with a group of 10 and had such incredible service! Awesome place for large parties. Fun atmosphere. I know it can be a pain when each person wants their own tab opened, but Harry was on top of it from the beginning with such a positive attittude. OCCASION: Boyfriend and I are in Colorado for vacation. We found this place because it showed up on yelp when we typed in "ping pong" and "table tennis". We wanted to play some table tennis while we were in Colorado. ENVIRONMENT: Located in Downtown Denver. You need to pay for parking. Luckily, there was a parking lot very close to the mall in Downtown Denver. It is on the 3rd floor of the outdoor mall. Inside, it is very dim and has a very nice hipster vibe. It has a very chill environment. However, when we went inside, no one was there to greet us. We were in the front for like 10 minutes while employees walked by us ignoring us. It was extremely awkward. We sat down and no one came to serve us. We decided to sit right at the bar in front of the bartender so that he can notice us. After about 10 minutes of him doing whatever he was doing, he finally served us. We literally had to wave our arms to get someone to serve us. Although it was extremely empty during the time we came, majority of employees ignored us. PING PONG: Costs $10 per hour. You give them your ID and pay afterwards. The locations of the tables are terrible locations. One table is right in the middle of the bar and eating area. The other table is located right at the entrance. The balls go crazy everywhere and they are go far. The locations are the worst. They should put the tables in an area with walls around or nets around so that the balls don't travel so far. BOWLING: We also went bowling. The place was extremely lit but hard to play because it was so dim. Good side is that there is a server to serve alcohol, food, water there. That's the difference from Round 1 bowling. FOOD: We got the hot dogs, sweet potato fries, and the bread. It was good. Wish they were bigger portions because we paid a lot for those. PRICE: $$$$ Expensive. Do not come here if you are on a budget. CUSTOMER SERVICE: What's that?? OVERALL: Shitty place to play ping pong. Bowling is eh. It's hard to play both games because the place is so dim. My eyes strained because I was trying to focus on what light I can get into my eyes so that I can see!! Customer service DOES NOT EXIST. Their website for reserving a lane was down. As a business owner, I do understand this happens. But I really didn't feel wonderful calling them only to be talked down to by a staff member who assured me there website was "working fine" so they didn't "understand my problem." Even though seven people in my office checked and it isn't working, the lady from lucky strikes who I spoke to was both rude and entirely dismissive. I've honestly had more understanding from Taco Bell drive through attendants at 2am. In the end, I guess our entire office staff will find something else to do. But the condescending attitude over broken tech was educational as to who wants business and who simply hires employees committed to pushing customers off to do other things than visiting their establishments. Neither I, nor my company staff, will not be returning to their venue as they clearly don't desire any real business. Thankfully, we did find a ton of other locally owned bowling alleys who do value our business. Already had a great convo making a reservation with a bowling alley not a mile away from Lucky Strikes. Went on a weekend afternoon and the place was fairly empty. Still, it must be badly under-staffed, because this was some of the worst service I've ever experienced. There is table here service, but it took about 20 minutes for someone to come over and take orders. I tried going to the bar to order before that but gave up after waiting 5 minutes for someone to come over. In the end, I think I waited about 40 minutes total for my coffee, and it wasn't even properly done -- a lukewarm, half-filled cup of stale coffee. They could have at least microwaved it. They apologized and told me it'd be on the house, but yet, there is was on the bill. Life is too short to complain about such things; yet here I am writing a yelp review. Also, the clearly racist "no baggy pants" and "no do-rags" policies posted prominently by the entrance are pretty obnoxious too. And don't tell me it's just a 'formal' dress code--it's a freaking bowling alley and no one is dressed up. read more

Visiting a friend for one night in Denver on my way to Portland. Having a good night bowling here until our time ran out. Then went over to the arcade and loaded my card up for $25, which seemed like the most sensible point value. But then rather quickly, the nice waitress came by to give me my check. And suddenly all the machines were closed out for the night. This was at 11:50pm. I had made the mistake of getting confused by Yelp hours and missing that they close at 12am M-Th, not like the 2am close time on the weekends. I had no idea and suddenly my card that I barely used was useless (10 minutes early). To be clear, I fault none of the employees at Lucky Strike. They all seem like really good people, but the rules laid out by management here are shockingly draconian and punishing towards customers. To play the arcade you have to purchase a card at a machine for a given number of credits. I purchased the $25 amount thinking I would be playing for a while. I asked to speak to the manager that night to ask about a refund for the remainder of my card but he refused per company policy. I tried asking him why but he either didn't have the power to do anything, was unwilling, or just didn't know how to deal with the situation. But his upper manager wasn't there. One of the bartenders there, who is truly an angel, interceded and said "here just give him $25 from me" and pulled money from the register in an attempt to settle the issue. I really didn't want the burden of this to fall on such a good person. This bartender was amazing and shouldn't be the one resolving an issue like this. This business has a serious issue with customer service and management, which is such a shame. I was having a great time with my friend until then, but the way the manager was trained to handle things was terrible. If they fix the management structure here and improve their communication to customers about closing time, last call, and refund policies, this will be a great weekend spot. But until then, their policies are taking advantage of customers and the goodness of their best employees. read more

Really disappointed in Lucky Strikes tonight. It was $100 for 1.5 which is fine but I expected much more for that money. When we got there shoes and glasses were all over our area. It took 30 minutes to get a drink, the bathrooms are a mess and the remotes for the tv didn't work so we ended watching some weird crime show even though we asked them to change it to basketball. Everything was just disappointing and weird. I feel really bad that my boyfriend tried to take me on a fun date and ended up spend $200 on something we could have got for $40 close to home. All right, lets be honest... I can't believe what I am seeing as far as ratings. I am giving this 5 Stars because I have never actually had spaghetti this good at any restaurant ever. I have been to the "real" Old Spaghetti factory, scoured the local menus for the best Chicken Parmesan, and actually lived in Sicily for over 2 years... but never had spaghetti this good in a restaurant. Since its my favorite - I gotta yelp it like I see it. We also had the Salmon Stack which was actually pretty awesome too, but for real cuisine, which this was (decorative sauce and garnish), the sauce was a little too salty and sweet at the same time... but still well above a 3 star rating for appetizers. They don't have that many draft beers, but the service rocked all around...
