I really wanted to rate Wheat Ridge Lanes higher, but my friends and I waited for 2.5 hours and still never got a lane. We hung out at the adjoining bar instead, enjoying delicious greasy food until our stomachs hurt. The fried pickles and mozzarella sticks were particularly notable, as well as the entertaining vintage artwork hanging on the walls. I'm guessing the key is to bowl during off hours, aka not Friday evening. Or visit when it's warmer to enjoy the fun games on the outdoor patio I totally missed. Customer service was decent - I'm sure peak times can feel quite stressful! I loved the vibe overall, just didn't expect to have to wait that long for nothing. Or park several blocks away. read more

The vibes at this place are amazing. It feels very old school bowling nostalgic. There are 10+ lanes so we got there early on a Friday night to snag a spot without a wait. If you come later, expect a wait. Seats up top, lanes at the bottom. No food or drink near the lanes so you do have to move around a lot if you plan to play and eat at the same time. Establishment was actually really great and fun, staff seemed great EXCEPT for 1 Major problem - - 2 cooks behind the counter, 1 bearded, one Scratching his bare belly, tshirt up with bare hands and then proceeded to touch food serve and cook, no hand washing or minute attempt to clean his hands. Yukkkk. No hair nets, no gloves, our party absolutely could not order food from this establishment for these reasons. This place used to be amazing and we went all the time. Now you can't ever go bowling. It's leagues which I get bring in a ton of money. But on non leagues you can't get a lane. There is no way to make a reservation and most people can't just hang out for hours waiting for a lane. They have out grown their small place charm and need to figure out how to do better in managing the crowds. read more

I thought this place was so great! We had a party of 6, showed up at about 630 and we bowled 3 games.. we got there when there wasn't a wait so it was easy to get 1 of the 12 lanes. The whole vibe of the place was great. It was like retro, dive bar style. Lanes on one side with a bar/food. And a bar on the other side. We didn't venture into the other side but I'm sure it's cool. We had a blast bowling, they played good music, the fries were superb and the staff was super nice. It's definitely a little squished for space but hey what can you do. I've been here for or five times so far, always with at least one ten-year-old on hand. It's a most wonderful time capsule of the eighties, right down to the music ... but without the ashtrays, beer rot, or overwhelm of cologne and perfume. I kind of love it here. My kid and I have some sensory issues, so three games may be the limit by the time the place is hopping. It can be loud with the music and people. For regular folk, I'd say the noise level is "stimulating." That said, there's areal sweetness to the sound of a good strike. What's great, from a sensory perspective is the lack of screens or blinks lights. Just good ol' '80s brown and cream colors, with just the right lighting. The food really is excellent for a bowling alley. I've seen them making a number of things from scratch. They know what they're doing with a deep fryer. Also, because it's Colorado, the beer choices are good. read more

At first when you walk in, you walk right into a bar! No need to stress, just follow the sign that says "Bowling" and you'll find your way. This place took me back over 20 years! I loved it. While the lanes are maintained very well, my view of management has changed. They now prohibit water bottles from being brought in from outside. I am a league bowler and bowl several times each week. This is a physical activity and requires hydration, like any visit to the gym. In their effort to, presumably cut down on those bringing in outside adult beverages, they have alienated their core customers. I now bowl elsewhere. read more

To preface, I'm not a bowler. I bowl well enough to get a score on the board. With that being said I'm not 100% familiar with all the nuances of a bowling alley. The place seemed nice, clean, and inviting. Bowling and shoes were generally inexpensive. Though I'd go here again, I have a couple gripes. There were attendants around, just not very available. They weren't horribly busy as we were able to get on a lane right away (amazing since it was league night elsewhere) however it was always a wait to get any food or drink and even settle up. When we did pay at the end the attendant flipped the screen for us to sign and scoffed when we didn't tip. I'm sorry fella but you handed me shoes and rang me up. Not tip worthy. I felt inclined when I was pressed for a tip at the food counter and the bar counter but the cost for these extras were pricey already. $5 for a medium soda $25 for a pitcher of beer read more

Exactly where I wanted to be on a Friday night. We had 6 people and rented 2 lanes and shoes for everyone for an hour and it was about $50-$60. The atmosphere was vibrant and divey. Overall, I have had several great experiences here. Good food and drinks in a 1970's themed bar and bowling joint. The bartender was fantastic and I've met nice people that are fun to have a convo with. I think, however, I got double charged once on my card so I'll probably pay in cash next time. Right when we walked in it felt very uncomfortable and got rude stares looking up and down and my child got pushed around by grown adults. We stood in line which was a wait itself just to be creeped out by an older man acting like he worked there making my younger daughter very uncomfortable and standing too close to us. Then while we stood people there acted like we did not exist, they pushed us around, shoulder bumped, and bum rushed us. We then got told to "move out of the way" to let two younger white males who looked us up and down and refused to say manners. The service was very rushed and unwelcoming, they seemed very annoyed and we ended up walking out after hesring it would be a 3 hour wait. Racist place staff rude except the person who brought out our food. Will never be back. Only played half a game paid for two and left felt so uncomfortable. A staff member actually bumped me hard and didn't apologize. Then I called and talked to the owner seemed nice at first and all concerned about the horrible experience I found out he charged me $80 on debit card after I checked my account for two bowling games and two shoe rentals and two meals. He said while we were talking it was getting busy and he had to call back me back and took my number but never called me back and I even tried to call one more time. He's a liar. Please don't waste your time and I hope his business fails due to the lack of respect he has for paying customers trying to come to an understanding on their bad experience and how to fix it. Im sorry to even have to write this. My fiance and I were waiting for a lane to open up and decided to go sit at the bar and have a drink til the lane opened. Some patrons continued to harrassee the bartender asking her to show her tits... she walked away and the patrons were talking about coming in her hair. We eventually got our lane. We played one game.. the manager at one point came over and said my gf spilled a chip on the ground. It seems the Management and Owners are more concerned about chip crumbs then protecting their bartenders. Really concerning. This place sucks. read more

Bowling is great fun for a reasonable price and the staff is welcoming and patient with a good sense of humor. The bartenders greet you with a smile and their mixology is on point. Chef Tate has elevated the food to the next level! Being Cinco de Mayo my team had green chili and smothered burritos that were some of the best I have had since moving to Denver 10 years ago. This establishment is sparkling clean from the bar, to the lanes, to the bathrooms! I kid you not, it is noticeably neat and tidy. Best bowling in town by far! Love this place! The staff is awesome, the lanes are nice and it is locally owned! There is an attached bar with one of the best shuffleboard tables I have ever seen! It was used in the 1996 National Championships (so it says) and it is lovely! It really ties the room together ;-) They have a full kitchen with daily specials and a kick ass bar. I have enjoyed many shots, beers, and even a few apple-tinis while bowling here! I have been on weekends, had a birthday bowling party and have been on a couple of leagues here too - it is basically my version of Cheers, but with bowling! They have screens so you can watch the games and do a great job decorating for the holidays. If you don't like the music, they will happily change it for you! I organized a meet up at Wheat Ridge lanes for a small group. They were pretty easy to work with and I was surprised they were willing to reserve two lanes for me on a Friday night. Problem was, they apparently got their wires crossed because after our second game another customer came up to us and said one of our lanes now was his; we were losing one of our lanes. Fortunately for us, most of us were done so we just called it a night, but the whole thing was a little weird. Not sure if it was b/c some of my party had only paid for two games in advance or if they really did double-book the lanes. Even though games are super-cheap here and there is this divey vibe which makes bowling fun here, I think in the future I'll just hang at the bigger lanes to avoid the experience I had here. read more

Great old-school feel with new-school touches. Date of Visit: 7/15/15 I have admittedly passed this place countless times, never knowing it was a bowling alley until I found myself looking for one. Upon arriving, one might think it's just another divey alley, but one would be wrong. Not only do they have a decent food and beer selection, but the equipment has really been taken care of. Lanes were well kept, balls were not beat up and chipped like so many public alleys, even the shoes seemed new and fresh (or as close as possible)! The lane attendants were all very friendly and attentive, prices were reasonable, and the computerized scoring system was very easy to use.
