My son and I love coming here when his school is closed during the week. It's usually pretty quiet, and we often have the arcade to ourselves. We tried bowling for the first time around 1:30 on a weekday and had no trouble getting a lane. After a few games, we decided to stay for lunch so we could play another round. I ordered the shrimp tacos and my son had the pizza--both were surprisingly good, especially for a bowling alley and arcade spot. Lucky Strike offers bowling at Montgomery Mall. They are located right below the main food court. My friends and I enjoyed our time bowling and snacking there. The staff wasn't the most attentive or knowledgeable about their menu/services, but they do offer a fun range of snacks. We ordered their cauliflower bites, hot honey pizza, pretzel sticks, and cheesesteak. Our waiter didn't know Lucky Strike offered half of these items, so it was a little confusing to place our order. There was only one other party bowling while we were, so I thought the food would be done pretty quickly. It took about thirty minutes, so I would just recommend ordering right when you get there. My boyfriend and I each purchased the premium summer pass for around $50. You get a $5 arcade reload every time you visit and 2 games of bowling. On a Friday night, it is a great date night activity that doesn't break the bank. We were quickly able to get our bowling lanes and play our 2 games, unlike at other bowling allies that get super crowded. 1 star knocked down because I never see anyone order food and also since the arcade selection is tiny. We had a VERY successful corporate event at Lucky Strike. Our company SPAREd no expense in showing us all a great time. Indeed we did. Lucky Strike is the type of high end bowling alley you might see on Entourage. You just feel cool by being there. And yes, "cool" (and upscale) is EXACTLY what Lucky Strike is going for. From the first FRAME, management was heavily involved in/with the bar, servers, guests, and the food parade. Bowling quickly took a back seat when everyone started to mingle and have a great time; the staff adjusted to our needs. Servers fondly remembered us and kept the drinks coming, which can be a challenge with such a huge party. Smiling, attentive, and peppy serving can be difficult with such a large group; our servers were up to the challenge. And hey, what a spread! Specifically, we loved the steak skewers, chicken sandwiches, and (all) desserts. Every dish and dessert was solid and kept that holiday buzz going. It cost $40 for one hour of bowling for two which included the shoe rental. It is pricey, but the service was good. What was frustrating was the lane kept on resetting after couple of frames. For instance I got a seven, then it said I got a strike and was stuck. Another time I got a 8 and then it reset and put the ten pins back. So I wasted fifteen minutes out of my one hour waiting for them to fix it. I did enjoy their bar when not bowling. They used to have really good happy hour deals before the pandemic. read more

Was very disappointed in the service and drinks here. Came at the beginning of happy hour (3pm) and they said they had already run out of 2 out of the 6 of their cocktails. Got the pink elephant which was very sweet, but tasted almost no alcohol. Ordered a vodka soda next, which the waitress said cost $7-8 and it literally tasted like water and ended up being $11.50. My friends and I waited over 25 minutes for our first round of drinks to be brought out.. one was a glass of wine so all you have to do is open the bottle and pour it. **Keep in mind, we were the only people there besides two others.** For the second round of drinks, it was also taking forever and the waitress admitted to forgetting to put in the order after we asked her when they would be coming out. The food came out faster than the drinks and was decent. My friend had ordered the chicken quesadilla and after waiting a long time, the waitress again admitted to forgetting about the order. We had a movie to catch at 4:40, which we had told the waitress about, but the checks took a long time to bring out and were completely wrong in the way she split them. I went here back in March for a surprise birthday party and it was definitely a lot of fun! The atmosphere is filled with loud, pop music and it's a bit dark but the lanes have a nice light to them to give off a trendy vibe. I love that you're able to exchange a personal book with one of their books from their bookshelves! Small details like this really make it memorable. Beverages and food are a bit pricey, but I felt that the cost to bowl was pretty standard to other locations. I ended up ordering a Moscow Mule (tasted great by the way) and just shared a bunch of dishes with friends. Service could definitely be better. The bartenders and waitresses weren't very friendly and were very slow. I would recommend trying out Lucky Strike at least once and I wouldn't mind returning, but bowling at this location just might not be my first choice! read more

I was quite reluctant coming here, after seeing the reviews. I came here for lunch and had a really good time. Reason I knocked off the rating were many reasons. For one, they didn't have any chicken for their club sandwich and had to replace it with a passable cheese pizza. I mean who runs out of chicken! I came to Lucky Strike on a late Thursday morning for an outing with coworkers. Everyone seemed to have a great time bowling. There was particularly unique about it compared to other bowling alleys other than their interior which was reminiscent of a speakeasy, but also of an escape room. Apparently when we were there the restaurant's grill was broken so we could only eat fried foods. The food wasn't bad, but it's just what you would expect of fried appetizers. I also order a BlackBerry Ginger Mule which was ok, but the ginger beer definitely overpowered the blackberry flavor. Also, even though our party was the only one there (obviously no one else is gonna go bowling on a Thursday morning lol), the staff seemed to get overwhelmed and forgot some my requests. 2nd day of the Grand Opening festivities. Located where the previous movie theater use to be not only offering bowling yet a full fledge restaurant & bar. The main dining area entering from the lower level of mall (under the food court) consists of 2 long community tables, a few side tables & an interior patio. Kept the visit short & simple, no bowling. The Lunch & Dinner Menus offers minimal Gluten Free options. My & my Gal Pal ordered the Chips & Guacamole that comes with Salsa & the Crispy Chicken Bites. For dessert she tried the Smith Island Cake that was full of a lemon flavoring, she enjoyed. Someone stopped by our space as we were tallying up to ask how our food & service was, we stated a positive. I took that moment to inquire about Veggie & Vegan Burgers. That moment was right on time & with the right person, who was Michael Jones, the General Manager. He stated they were working on an in house V-Burger to add to the menu. Once we got our bill, we noticed the 'Suggested Gratuity' that made their way to the bill had the percentages were incorrect. We brought it to Michael's attention who approached someone who was heavily into his MacBook. After a brief exchange, they both came over & it was Dave, the IT Guy, who stated the updated version was coming soon & manually recalculated our bill for us. After our snack we toured the rest of the establishment, in the lanes area it's set up as mini lounge areas, each has a leather couch, 2 TV's & a Pub Table. Velvet curtains are present to offer privacy or a VIP setting I suppose. The décor is wall to wall bookshelves full of actual books (mostly agricultural & history)...bowl a strike & read a chapter. This location offers pool tables yet no arcade games like the Chinatown-Gallery's location. Thus far so good, will return later in time to see how Lucky Strikes has evolved with the service workflow & menu depth...our service from Terrell was on a positive note. read more

I post this as a cautionary tale to first time Lucky Strike patrons: call to reserve your lanes and make sure to get their pricing in writing before you step into the lane. I was very misled and taken advantage of by the onsite manager and ended up being charged $430 for two hours of bowling. I got a flimsy $40 credit in response and told it was my fault that I didn't understand the myriad confusing information about the online registration system versus what you arrange in person and the various discounts that apply to some things and not others - it's all designed to screw you over. read more

We decided to stop here to knock down some pins and have a few beers after being out in this hot weather all day. The restaurant was fairly empty and we were able to get a lane fairly quickly. We decided to order a Sam Adams and Stella on draft. Waitress came back and both options not available. I also ordered a Diet Coke which had almost no carbonation and was flat. We tried to order the cannoli chips as a snack to discover that also was not available. We finally ordered the pulled pork nachos which they had. Finally got the order and we had to dig to find the pork. Found a very small amount of pork buried at the bottom. Mentioned it to the waitress and she said it was "proportioned." We basically paid $14 for nachos with canned cheese and globs of sour cream. Even the bowling lanes and balls were subpar. They installed these large TVs at the front of the couches so you can't even see your companions bowling. The waitress was friendly and was proactive in refilling the (flat) soda and water. Booked a birthday party for my teenage son and they were really great. Price is similar to other places in the area but they kids had a lot of fun. The food that came with with birthday package was great for teenagers, pizza, chips and salsa, and cookies. All you can drink sodas and water. I've been to a Lucky Strike in DC and had a good time as far as bowling goes- it was bright and new unlike every other bowling alley around, but I mean, at the end of the day, it was still bowling..? My boyfriend and I stopped by for a birthday party at this Bethesda location though fully anticipating just a quick hi and bye - nope, not what happened. We ended up staying for hours and would have closed the night out here if we didn't have to make it to Walmart before they closed at midnight...I digress. If it's your first time here, and especially if it's your first time to this mall in general, you may have a hard time finding it. Just head to the parking garage near the movie theaters and park there. You''ll see the Lucky Strike sign when you start heading to the doors. It looks like a cool, hip, mood-lit restaurant at first. Lots of dark wood and exposed brick everywhere- very cozy and comfy, but kinda sultry and moody at the same time. (If Lucky Strike were a man, it would definitely have a beard) There's a big, leather couch by the door and waiting area outside. There's a large bar and bar section with quite a few tv's and large picnic style tables. A nice list of beers (both bottled/canned and on tap), cocktails, wine, lots of food on the menu. We kind of thought we were lost... And then there's a winding walkway that leads you to the bowling alley in the back. There were about 10-12 lanes altogether and dark, heavy curtains separated the alley into two making this bowling experience just a little more intimate. There's a large bookshelf a little out of place with vintage, hard cover books and vinyl records casually demanding an IG post. I can't speak to the bowling prices, though I would imagine they are up to par with the rest of the restaurant - pricey. My Blackberry Mule was $14 and while it was delicious, it was not strong at all. My food was pretty good if we're comparing it to other bowling alley fare - Pepperoni and Sausage pizza plus an order of Belgian fries. Not to sound bouj, but Belgium has THE BEST fries of all of our lives and these didn't taste like them at all. Smaller cut for crunch, please. Either way, still good especially with the dipping sauces. Our lanes were a good size for 10 people at each. Comfy, large, leather couches from the entrance also made their way back here. The lanes and pins froze up a couple of times during our game (maybe like 4) so this was annoying, but nothing that wasn't fixed within a couple of minutes. Our server was pretty good too, though slow, but for a huge group next to a bunch of other huge groups on a weekend, I couldn't blame him for this. He did comp one of my drinks (without me even complaining) because it took entirely too long for this to come out. Solid service overall. Second to the good old and new hip hop music they turned up even louder at 9:30pm on a Saturday in sync with the lights dimming just a hair more, my favorite thing about this place was the sign on the wall that read: "We encourage every guest to read a book. I visited Lucky Strike with my sorority group for the Happy Hour and $2 Tuesday Specials. It is a great deal for bowling and shoes. The six of us were able to bowl and rent shoes for $24. Unfortunately the wait time was 1.5 hours. We waited in the bar area with food and drinks. I was disappointed with the service as my glass of wine and onion rings never arrived. The Passion Mojito was on special for $5 but I hope is larger for guests paying full price. The Parmesan Garlic wings were $6 during happy hour but were not the best I've ever had. The location has 12 lanes with cozy sofas and large TVs. A woman I was with mentioned there wasn't any toilet paper in bathroom until she asked them to restock. We did our second annual party at Lucky Strikes. Setting up the party I had a lot more problems than last year--corporate not as helpful --initially. Once I got the right person (their phone system was messy). I was able to book party without too much hassle. It is not cheap but for what we wanted it was a blast. We had 4 lanes of bowling for our extended family and food and drink. The food and drink was above average and what you would expect from a bowling alley. They did a good job this year (vs. last year) of getting the bowling going quickly and the food and drink coming in a timely manner. Shenika C. the assistant manager and Chris kept checking on us and did a good job of keeping things going (last year a bit slower and understaffed for our group). Probably one of the nicest bowling alleys I've ever been to. Picked this alley for a group of 5 on a Saturday night. The vibes were there. Good music, only 1 kid was there which was good for us. We didn't want to be surrounded by a bunch of kids. Definitely gave more of a grown vibe which was perfect. Its located in the basement of the mall. We opted to get food from the food court instead of the bowling alleys bar food selection. We went around 8:30pm with no reservation and got placed at a lane pretty quickly. This place does not take same day reservations. One actually has to walk in and see if you are lucky enough to get the lane. Cons: UV light in the main area and overall design adds to a fun, cozy and entertaining atmosphere. New equipment, not the most modern, yet it does the trick. Great location. But that's I can say. The rest is pretty bad. Cons: 1) Staff at the front is unreasonably rude and you make you uncomfortable very quickly. 2) When your play time comes to an end, the screen says to go see the front desk. Even if you go extend the time, the game is already canceled and you have to start all over. 3) Be careful when you get the check. Their Suggested Tip is way more than 20%. (See attached photo). Great place for happy hour. The interior is nicely decorated, bookshelves lend a classy touch. Decent beer selection on tap and bottles. Service is a tad slow but you can always head to the bar behind the lanes. Lanes are completely dry, even hard plastic balls hook plenty. Update from this morning: The manager Shanika called me personally today and went out of her way to make it right. She clearly cares about the customer's experience and her professionalism convinced me to give Lucky Strike Bethesda another try. As I said in my review, we had always had a good experience at the restaurant but had never tried the bowling. I have a feeling the next time will be better. I don't write a lot of reviews, but I feel I should warn people. I think Lucky Strikes may be a victim of the pandemic and I wish I had seen the reviews before we came here. We were late starting (even though my husband and I were there early). This is no big deal, but our lane broke down for a good 20 minutes. They said they would give us the time back, but our games stopped at 9:36. I'm pretty sure we started at 7:45 to begin with (instead of our 7:30 reservation time), but I'm not entirely sure because I didn't think I would need to be checking the time. So when I went to let them know, they told me they had already given me the 20 minutes. I told them they only gave me 6 minutes. We went back and forth a couple of times and they didn't believe me till I did the math for them: 9:30 plus 20 minutes is 9:50, not 9:36. They gave me excuses about how they are on a tight schedule and that I'd be holding other people up but did not offer a refund or anything. The lady at the desk kept getting on the phone to consult with who knows who. She offered me an hour and then walked it back. Usually I would want to speak to the manager, but we had to get back to the babysitter's anyway, so we got our 20 minutes and I left it at that. Pre-pandemic my husband and I had come here a few times to eat and not bowl and had always enjoyed ourselves. It was sports bar type food, but there was always local craft beer and good, friendly service. Last night the menu was reduced, they said due to kitchen equipment being broken. Interestingly enough, there is another review on here from a couple of years ago saying the same thing. Hmmmm... I have never heard of this, so I'm guessing they were understaffed, maybe due to the pandemic? My friend ordered the barbecue chicken pizza and it was the best! If you do come here, I would recommend ordering that. I drank Guinness beer, so I can't speak to the cocktails. Our server was decent and split the checks for us.
