Food: The seafood okra I highly recommend, it's flavorful,…read morerich and so good! A lot of people like the indomie which is like a dry pho. The suya is what Mason is mostly known for. Service: The girls are pretty and usually attentive. The owner is really nice. He takes pride in his spot and treats all customers the same. Ambiance: Not a fan of the wallpaper downstairs but it's a nice size for it to be a restaurant then a club. They also have an upstairs but DJs are on both floors. Music is always good, Mason has the best DJs playing afrobeats, gogo, American and even Hispanic music. This is great spot if you want to just come to eat and hangout or have a night out that's not in dc.

The turkey was a little over cooked but not too bad. The serivce was 0/10. Being that we were the only customers in the entire restaurant our server/bartender was not attentive at all and had a nasty attitude. I ordered a lemon drop and asked for sugar rim . She said they don't have sugar, cool! But when i received my drink my glass at the bottom was visibly dirty and dried up old sugar on the rim. I told her about the issue and she seemed more annoyed that i brought it to her attention. I will not be back based off of how the bartender treated us. And she added a 20% gratuity to our bill which i believe she did not deserve.

JCK has been on my list for a while to try; glad I finally stopped through for happy hour on a…read moreFriday. Their HH runs Mon-Fri from 5-7 and include 5-7 cocktails, beer, and wine that they offer at $2ish off the regular price. We stuck with the cocktails and had their Blue Lagoons (which are essentially electric blue vodka lemonades) for $8ish. They were tasty and after 2 of them, we were definitely ready to party. Next time, I want to try the rum punch for $10 - though I noticed the rum punch was premade (vs being made fresh per order). Unfortunately, there are no food offers on the happy hour. The spot was very empty when we arrived, maybe around 5.30p - there was one other couple enjoying time at the bar. Outside of the 8-10 bar seats, they have some lounge level seating, as well as more standard 4-top tables. At the very front of the area, is a small stage where DJ's and karaoke specialists set up. The food was really good; I had the curry chicken plate for $16ish and my girlfriend had the shrimp rasta pasta for $19ish. The food was very flavorful and came out piping hot from the kitchen. I'd get the curry again, for sure. The environment and vibe was the most enjoyable part of my visit; the hip hop and top40's music gave the place a great energy (but wasn't so loud that you couldn't chat. The bartenders were energetic, lively, and friendly. There seemed to be alot of regular patrons who knew each other and the bartenders - that's a really good sign. The star of the show was karaoke which started around 8 (when the bar was getting much more crowded). The karaoke host was great; she kept the group energized and led some karaoke style games and activities that I hadn't seen before. We ended up stay out way longer than expected because we were having such a nice time. I look forward to my next happy hour at JCK. Pro tip: It looks like they have coordinated, promoted parties twice a month on Fridays. And on the other Fridays, they have the 'standard' karaoke nights. Check their IG for the official, promoted parties.

I am no stranger to them, having seen their truck at Savor Bowie almost every single time I've gone. And I've driven by their brick-and-mortar multiple times, but never stopped. This one crossed my radar when my friend invited me to a soca party, and I was like "JCK Bar & Lounge? In Hyattsville? How have I never heard of that?" And now it all makes sense -- some time last year, Jamaican Country Kitchen expanded, and now they've got this place, DJ booth, dance floor, bar, lounge, restaurant, all in one. And I gotta say, it was a vibe. The staff was nice and I loved the decor and feel of the place. Bar was cozy and it was nice to be somewhere this late at night that still served authentic Caribbean food. They have happy hour, so I am going to have to return and get a deep dive on how they feel on a regular weekday after work. And I gotta see how their food compares to my other favorites nowadays!

Located on the 5th floor, Loft 5900 offers a kitchen, uplighting, slide shows, restrooms in the hallway, sofas, and cocktail style tables. I assume depending on the type of event you're having, depends on the furniture that's provided. We were going through a bit of a heat wave when this event occurred, so it was hot and humid to the ultimate outside. When we entered into the building it was even hotter. Literally no air was circulating in the building or on the elevator. I was a bit worried that the venue was going to be that warm too, but thankfully it wasn't. Not sure if it's like that normally, but I hope that issue gets addressed because it was truly uncomfortable. The venue itself is a cute and intimate space. It does give you the feel of a loft - hardwood floors and a chic flow, but the entryway is a bit dated and only one elevator was working that evening. It's a pretty cool option for a venue/space for an event. I think it would be perfect for a baby shower, wedding shower, cocktail party or something on a smaller scale. I'll put this on my list for future venue options, hopefully it just won't be during a heat wave.

I…read morebelieve it was ~10 for a big white square container filled up & I felt that was a decent amount for the price. Flash forward to this week when my friend ordered me door dash from there & I could not believe my eyes. We bought ($23- bobolo & ndole, $13- suya, $7 plantains, pictures below) For how expensive the food was you would expect it to be in a large quantity; but that wasn't even the annoying part. My issue was I felt like it lacked the authentic Kmer taste. Almost as tho the chef rushed through the meal. Keep in mind, I grew up with my grand mom in Cameroon & we're bayangi so I know how good food taste. The meat was cut in huge pieces & not boiled all the way. The ndole was practically a watered down peanuts soup. The bobolo wasn't done nor was the plantains. The suya did taste good & well done 10/10 but they cut the portion size in half & increased the price; so the meal wasn't worth the money we spent in my opinion. I understand inflation & I normally don't mind paying for stuff but it has to at least taste GOOD! Keep in mind, this was my experience maybe yours might be different. I know I def won't be referring any of my friends there for their food! Night life: I've been to prime countless times for night life & tbh it's a hit or miss. Def come with a good group of friends so y'all can vibe together. Beware the crowd, is mostly older folks & if you're a girl then big stomach men will def hit on you. Go somewhere else if you're looking for a younger crowd. I like Cameroonian & Afrobeats music & I go out to have fun regardless of who is in the room; but I have friends who say it's gives Kumba vibes lol so they rarely come there for night life. They also have hookah available. my friends seemed to like it but I can't speak on it cuz I'm not smoker. Overall: there's always enough parking, quiet & safe neighborhood. If you go during the day, they do a good job of keeping the place neat & decent customer service. Night time, the music is very loud so you'll have to speak louder to talk to a server. Note: Police normally lurk the area & the speed limit is like 25 so be careful, then again you gotta be careful in this entire America so. I've posted many pics & vids below. Hope it helps.

Our waitress, Lydia, exhibit attentive and efficient service the entire night. She helped us with the menu, checked on us throughout the night, and refilled our drinks. She did this while serving the entire place. I would describe the service as empathetic and refreshing. Food: The wings here are really good. They are sizable and they don't hold back on the sauce. The skin is crispy and the wings are properly seasoned and cooked. We also got the burger. It was good, but slightly over cooked from the "medium" I requested. The pizza was very good and cheesey. It almost tasted homemade (in a good way). I'd get it again. Ambiance: It's a local bar with plenty of TVs to enjoy the game. It's a bar crowd, so expect some yelling and music, which fits the atmosphere. I like the decor, and the place smelled clean. I'd definitely come here to watch the game and have some wings.

A Hidden Gem I never…read morewould have found Oasiz Bar & Grill if my aunt hadn't chosen it for her 60th birthday dinner. It's tucked away in an industrial area off Route 50, and unless you're looking for it, you'd probably never know it was there. We had a party of 12, and almost everyone in our group was visually impaired, including my mom. Dining out with a group like ours can sometimes be challenging, but the staff did a really nice job. As the only one at the table with 20/20 vision, I can honestly say they took the time to explain the menu, answer questions about the food and drinks, announce themselves when they approached the table, and help everyone through the payment process. Those extra touches meant a lot and made everyone feel comfortable. I ordered the wings and a drink, and my mom had wings, a salad, and a drink. Everything was fresh, the wings were cooked well, the drinks were good, and the portions were generous for the price. The restaurant itself has a cozy, laid-back neighborhood feel. It isn't a fancy place, but it's clean, comfortable, and somewhere I'd happily come back to. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is because of the service at the end of our meal. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, but apparently his shift ended as soon as he took our orders. The manager and bartender stepped in and did the best they could, but with a large group that was mostly visually impaired, it made things a little more confusing than they needed to be, especially when it came time to sort out everyone's food and separate checks. No one was rude, and they worked hard to make it right, but I think management could have handled that transition a little better. Overall, I had a great experience. The food was good, the prices were reasonable, and I really appreciated how welcoming the staff was to our group. I'd definitely come back, and I'd recommend giving this place a try if you're in the area.
