I would give David 6 stars if I could. He's the ONLY authorized dealer of Kettler tables in SoCal and for good reason: he's knowledgeable, passionate for the sport, honest, accommodating and affordable. He no longer deals through a store front or a storage unit though. He sells tables right out of his garage. Casual as it may seem, this is the best case scenario for anyone looking to purchase a quality table at an affordable price. I was planning on purchasing the Top Star XL, and thankfully, David talked me out of it. It's the same price as the Champ 3.0 (which is what I bought instead), but comes with better wheels, thicker surface and better fold/unfold construction. He doesn't profit any extra by selling a different table at the same price. He truly wants his customers to leave with the right product. As I was checking out the table he was planning on selling me I noticed small dings here and there and without hesitation he offered to sell me a different one and gave me the option of refusing it upon delivery if I didn't like it. The dings were insignificant and wouldn't have affected playability, so he could have easily tried to talk me into it, but he's committed to selling quality products and delivered a different table in perfect condition. I purchased the Champ 3.0 for $900 cash including: paddles, balls, Kettler cover, delivery and the table was built when it arrived. The same purchase from Amazon would have been $1300 or more. Not only is Amazon's quality control terrible, but you're gonna end up with someone who's not an expert on assembling a complex ping pong table and it IS complex. The instruction booklet is in German, the pictures are hard to follow and there's a LOT more to it than you might think. Save yourself 8 hours of heartache and have him build it for you. David also spent 30min with me after delivering the table explaining how to properly fold/unfold, move, maintain and offered to come back anytime if there were issues. It's worth noting that Kettler's competitors (Joola, Stiga, Killerspin etc...) are manufactured in China while Kettler tables are from Germany. The price might be the same, but Kettler tables are much better built and will stand the test of time if you take care of them. I tried Big 5, Dicks and other sporting goods stores and had poor experiences every time. Ping pong is a niche sport so you're not gonna get an expert at a store selling equipment for all sporting needs, plus those companies aren't authorized to sell Kettler and yeah you gotta buy Kettler. His accent (Chinese) is pretty thick so you may have to ask him to repeat himself from to time. I've spent some time in China so I can understand through the accent better than most, but it's not that big of an issue if you speak slowly and listen a little more intently. I've been playing ping pong my entire life. Trust me. David is your guy! read more

David Heap is a good dude! I've bought two tables from him now and he has been a great dealer. My first purchase was his own manufactured table called the Luckyheap Family Time; that was 2 years ago. I was skeptical at first because the price was so low and the brand is unheard of, but when I came into his warehouse to check it out, it was great! Aesthetics was not bad at all, and the construction was intact and solid. The second table I've bought from him is a higher end Joola 2000s. It's a table that he boasts about a LOT and I can see why. Good clean place if you are into ping pong. People are very friendly and not too cloudy even on weekends. Price is very resonable. I think it was like $5 for all day or you can get monthly membership for $40 something. You can rent paddles and balls for free but they also have equipment for sale. HANDS DOWN, THE BEST TABLE AND PLACE TO BUY.... I did a ton of research on Ping Pong/Table Tennis tables, I read every review, went to all the local stores spent hours online only to discover what I wanted was a table that cost between $1200 and $2000..... And if you know me, you know that's just not going to happen..... The number one thing I learned from all the reviews was regardless of which table or where the table was purchased, was it is very difficult, time consuming and a general pain in the butt to put it together once you got it home..... and the end results were often disappointing..... Then I found David Heap's site on the internet as well a couple of listings on E-Bay, I also read the online reviews for David and since he was fairly local, (Brea, Ca.) We decided to drive up and see for ourselves. His Company LuckyHeap sells a number of brands and if you want that $2000 table he has it. When I went there I was thinking a used table, but as we spoke about tables and table construction it became very clear that at any price the choice for me was the LuckyHeap Pro.... we bought the table for less than we could have bought The Stiga Baja, any of the Joola's, Butterfly, Kettler even on sale at Sports Authority, Big 5, Dick's, .......but that's not the big story..... With all of the horror stories listed in the many online reviews (you really should read as many as you can) about the assembly of these tables I was concerned, but felt I was up to the task..... Turns out it wasn't a concern with this table from LuckyHeap.... Truth is the instructions for this table are not that good, but as David suggested I took some photos before we left of an assembled table and as you will see below all went well.... (David even sent me a couple of additional photos when I had a question...) The following is a simplification, (no step was left out) but 100% accurate description of my assembly..... I unwrapped everything, sorted parts and got a good feel for everything I had and where it went. I assembled the main frame and attached the casters (4 sturdy nuts & bolts) ~ Attached the table holder support to the end of the frame that will hold the table halves in place (2 heavy duty screws each side) ~ My wife and I set the first table half into the holder ~ attached the four support brackets and the first side was done. We did the same for the other side and that was it.....Total time, less than 2 hours working at a very relaxed pace (66 yrs. old and sipping a rum drink, just one it was a Thursday) Again, read the reviews for every table and what I didn't need to list here was the endless number of screws you need to screw into the table just to attach the table top to the frame, no stripped out screws, no particle board mishaps no brackets that ripped out, none of that stuff .......... and the reason for that is....... David has the top attached at the manufacturer, this is his table and that is the way he wanted it.... Did I say how solid this table is? It is.... Did I remember to say there are no "bounce" issues with this table.... no dead spots You will enjoy working with David Heap, ....truly a good guy..... This is the only table I have every put together, so I am not an expert, but after reading all of the reviews I have to believe this was the absolute best choice for me..... Oh, but if this was too much work to put it together, just ask David about assembly..... Having it assembled might be the best deal around when you factor what your time is worth per hour? Then you just take it home, put on the net and use it! David is the a great guy to work with and is willing to do whatever it takes to service his customers, just read the other reviews about him then re read all the "sporting goods store" table assembly horror stories.... I ended up paying right around $500 including everything I needed to get started, table, paddles, balls, net and cover.... The Stiga Baja, for example, best price with coupon at Big 5 was $450 and a complete pain to put together..... Price shop the total package, this quality table and the total package cannot be beat!!! remember, 4 paddles and a cover will run you over $100 most everywhere.... I have always built my own ping pong tables from special order 5x10' mdf. A couple months ago was reminiscing over some drinks with my best friend with whom I built my first table back in college about the "beast", that thing was so overbuilt girls would dance on it.... It was clear we needed a table again and he has the perfect backyard. So the plan was set to surprise him with a table for Xmas, did some research and had decided on Kettler with their 22mm Alu-tec panel. The idea of a purely plastic/resin surface that some other companies use didn't appeal to me, and a lot of their frames look flimsy and cheap. I was originally set on the recently released Champ 5.0, and was going to order one online. But I was worried about shipping damage and then dealing with parts/returns. So I jumped on Kettler USA and found David/Luchyheap as the closest supplier to OC. Took a quick glance at his website and fired off a call to him. David was super nice, and best yet the table I wanted In-Stock, he immediately gave me the pricing and options on the things I asked, he offers delivery, setup, you name it. We spent a minute talking and that's when he told me about the Kettler Outdoor 10. I had not seen that table when doing research, it too is a new design and only recently for sale in the US. He immediately sent messages to my cell with pictures and information. I looked it over, the design looked really sturdy, well thought out and designed. So I called him back and he gave me a great price, since considering I was willing to pick it up and assemble it myself, that made it an easy choice to move up to this Top-of-the-line table over the Champ 5.0. Placed a deposit over the phone, he texted me a picture receipt, and 2 days later met him and loaded the beast up. Transaction was simple, no hassle, he offered to take care of everything if the there was any issue with the table tops or parts in the box. Got the table to it's new home, unboxed the parts and had it assembled in a little over an hour by myself. A small screw gun for the phillips screws, and a larger one with a socket drive adapter for the bolts make things a breeze. I have seen reviews about Kettler tables being hard to assemble, or the instructions being bad, but I found that not to be the case at all. Everything was straight forward, and each steps hardware comes in it's own individual bag #'s 1-9, so you don't have to sort a huge mess of fasteners. Overall I can't be happier with purchase, dealing with David was simple and easy, 10mins on the phone, and 10mins at his shop 2 days later, and we we're grilling food and playing ping pong that evening. If you're looking for the best outdoor table the Outdoor 10 is the one to get. It has classic signs of German engineering, like the simple cable release system making setup a breeze, my buddy was amazed that's all it took was a simple squeeze and lower or raise. Other details like the ball compartments (which hold a ton of balls) and removable corner protectors, heavy duty tool-less leveling feet, and simple racquet bands (no fussy plastic covers to remove and replace) are great additions. But ultimately it comes down to how it plays, and we couldn't be happier, the thick Alu-tec top is sweet, feels like an indoor table, and considering this thing is weatherproof and has a 5year residential warranty tells you everything when Cornilleu etc. only offer 1 year on outdoor tables. Lastly, the grey color scheme with blue highlights is really nice, funny the last homemade outdoor table I built was the same colors, with large 150w overhead farmhouse lights we didn't have any issues with glare on the table. read more

Sorry to give a negative review but, first I made an appointment at a set time and after 20 mins I called his cell and he said "oh you are there", he came 25 mins later. All the pictures are not of his business. It is a storage locker with a roll up door. He had 2 tables to sell me one outdoor and one indoor. Tables were assembled but a very small inventory, nothing like the pictures. The whole building is maybe 15'x30'. David didn't mention delivery, and a ping pong table is big, assembled or not. The whole experience was a little creepy. I'm will probably going to by online, or look at Craig's list. read more

We were in the market for a new ping pong table for our family. We looked around at local sporting goods stores, but couldn't really figure out which one would be best for our family. There isn't anyone to help you at these stores. We came across David Heap on Yelp and read his great reviews. My husband called him and we met at his home. He had several ping pong tables set up. This gave us a very good idea about the quality of each of the tables. He gave us a lot of information and suggestions about which one to buy. We decided on which one to get. It was already assembled and he offered to deliver it to our house in the morning, since he was coming to our area the next day. He arrived on time and set the table up in our backyard. He also showed us the exact way to open and close it up for storage. He also included balls, a net and 2 paddles. Our table was missing a couple of screws, and he told us not to worry, he'd come back and fix it while we were gone. He came back fixed it good as new!
