I have been to Lucky's a dozen times for their breakfast special. Buy a $6 drink and you get a free breakfast. Bacon, eggs, and hash browns and a LOT of it! Very good deal. The place is typical for a bar/restaurant on the Malecon. Mexican decor, fun friendly staff and (what used to be) a great ocean view. The place has relocated so the view is not as beautiful but the service and food remain fantastic. If you Mapquest it, it takes you to the old location which is NOT the original Luckys (it's called Mr. Luckys). If you want the original Lucky's (and you should) make sure you find it! read more

We had 4 drinks, shrimp tacos and an order of nachos (which are gigantic) and it was $50 usd and that got us a free t-shirt. Shrimp tacos were a bit dry until they suggested the cilantro sauce, made a huge difference. The food was good and staff were awesome! Most establishments on this side of the road (nearest the beach) are restaurants, and while Lucky's does serve food it's got more of a casual feel. What I love: They make massive pina coladas, and for an extra dollar you can and should add a shot. The patio is nice and open, so enjoy the unobstructed views of sunset. It's really chill during the day, but can also get busy at night. What I like: Lucky's has style, they're sporting a couple old school arcade cabinets. I hope they take quarters! I thought it would be a tourist trap because you see so many ads on your way into town. But it's a fun bar that should be in your nightlife rotation should you spend a weekend in Puerto Penasco. read more

I have been coming to Peñasco for over 30 years & owned a condo here for 20. Yesterday was the first time I was "ripped off". Only my 2 nd time at Lucky's Cantina. Don't remember anything negative the 1st time but yesterday I had lunch with my son & after being told they would charge me 5% more for using a credit card if I wanted to pay in pesos. I chose cash & was told total was $89! I know I should have asked to see the itemized bill but I didn't. Just added it up from menu on line. I believe I was overcharged by $30!!just leaves a bad taste in my mouth (literally food was not so great either). I won't be back! read more

Let me start with the positive and share that the view is amazing and our waiter was very nice. Sadly I now have nothing else nice to say. We ordered chicken and shrimp tacos and it took about 45 minutes for them to arrive and when they did arrive they were lukewarm. At this point we were very hungry and didn't want to risk sending food back and waiting another 45 minutes. Whenever you are visiting Rocky Point and thinking of where to eat at fisherman port , Lucky's is the traditional spot for us to have dinner! There menu has from seafood to pizza! I always go for the fried large fish. I love how the fish is straight from the local water in the Gulf of Mexico(Sea of Cortez). The fresh just out of the water fish is amazing and very affordable compared to seafood in the US. I do recommend sitting on the second floor in there large patio area overlooking the beach! Was looking so forward to coming here- from all the billboards and signage- stepped in for early dinner- had a shrimp taco to start...it was delicious, ordered the fish platters. Was so disappointed! It was dry as hell, tasted like it was from the freezer section of my local grocery store, generic brand. The baked potatoes were half back just smothered in butter so you couldn't tell that they were half cooked- and cold in the middle! We only came here for the drinks so I'm unsure how food is. Drinks though are great and cheap here! Also, the view here looks out to the ocean with no building block the way! Okay, so yes, I'd heard about the free breakfast via Yelp and a couple of our customers (in Tucson) that are part-time locals (American). We had a free morning, and even though we're very light drinkers and we were curious (mostly me), we decided to check out Lucky's. I liked it. We stopped in on an oppressive Monday morning (around 10) a little concerned because there seemed to be no breeze. At all. No sweat. There must have been 4-5 giant floor fans in the place. These folks know their business. We ordered coffee and iced tea. 3-4 large groups of Americans had the ocean view tables, all in various stages of breakfast. Our server immediately asked if we wanted the free breakfast: 3 eggs, beans, two bacon strips, potatoes, ham with tortillas. Partner declined the breakfast, but I accepted. I was impressed with the quality of most of the breakfast. Next time I'll ask them to hold the ham. It was processed, not my thing. The beans and potatoes (mixed with grilled onions) were spicy excellent, and the bacon was the real deal. Really good homemade tortillas completed the meal. Chips and salsa (Pace, we think) were forgettable, and the coffee and iced tea were good. $6.50 for breakfast, coffee and a big glass of iced tea before tip (we left $5). The atmosphere seems intended for sports fans and partiers, and that's okay with us. Great value. We'll be back. read more

Restaurant is located on the second floor. View is nice. Service was a little slow but they were busy. Food is fresh but could be prepared a little better. The guacamole was fresh but we had to add lemon and pepper to season it a little more. I got the shrimp which was prepared well but Would have preferred to have more local sides instead of the soggy fries and boiled vegetables that it came with. My wife got a blended margarita that wasn't prepared very well at all. When we got the check they requested the tip be payed in cash. There are also local vendors walking around. Went here for some lunch. They have the best piña coladas. We started our lunch with trying out their guacamole and it was the best! Large portion served with some chips. They also bring out chips and salsa, I didn't like the salsa. Tasted bland and like it came out of a jar. My husband got the chicken and bacon sandwich and he really likes his meal. His sandwich was topped with three thin chicken breast. It was huge and fat. I ordered the street tacos with chicken. The chicken was pretty dry. I was disappointed with my meal. So we ordered a bowl of the chowder.... the coconut shrimp.... and the Lucky's combination platter. The Chowder might have been good if it wasn't stone cold when it got to the table. The combination plate might not have been the worst Mexican food I've ever eaten..... but it was also cold and not very good. What I like about Lucky's is the location, the view, particularly for sunset, and the fact that they don't come to your table over and over and over but have a flag that you raise when you need service and then they are right there. I didn't care for the food or the drinks. I particularly didn't care that I asked for no garlic as I am allergic and they did a good job at that on the fish but not the veggies that came with it.
