    Avocado surprise

We LOVE Mary's!!! Tradition for us...as soon as we arrive in RP, we head to Mary's! Best avocado surprise....yummy!!! Come down and request Francisco (he is off on Wednesdays). He is the best!!!

Tacos gobernador (shrimp and cheese). These were excellent

Everyone on this block is hustling to get you into their restaurant, but I picked Mary's when it seemed to perfectly align with the sun just before it set. It was a sign! Of all places I dined during my birthday in Mexico, this was the fastest. And a great value for some of the best seafood tacos I've had in quite some time. The tacos gobernador, with shrimp, melted cheese (Oaxaca?), and avocado are exactly the sort of dish to instantly settle the debate as to whether US Mexican restaurants can hang with Mexico. They can't--these are better than anything I've had in Arizona. If you want something less rich, I can vouch for the cocktail shrimp as well. Best enjoyed with one of their generous cocktails or a light lager, while chilling in the sea breeze.

The service was awful. It took so long for them to even bring our drinks, and the table that got there after us got their drinks and food first before us. The chips and salsa was meh, the salsa was not good considered it only tasted like salted favored onions. Our food took over an hour to come out, kids meals were messed up... some got chicken nuggets and some got chicken strips when they all ordered the same thing. Our food was ok, we got the two person shrimp platter. The quantity was good, the garlic shrimp was literally grilled shrimp with scoops of cold bottled minced garlic on top. It was disappointing. The fish were ok. Over all, it really was disappointing. If the good reviews were given to the view and sunset, the entire street of restaurants on that side are backing to the ocean sunset view.

    Mango Margarita and Cadillac Margarita

We had a lovely lunch at Mary's Seafood Restaurant last week. The combo fish platter for 2 was MORE than enough. I think 4 adults would find that platter to be a substantial meal. The small ceviche was enough for 2 people also. I added hot sauce to the ceviche and I wish the seafood in the platter would have been seasoned a little more before cooking. The margaritas were fresh and large. I had a Cadillac Margarita and my husband had a mango margarita. Finally, the service was GREAT! Our waiter was very attentive and I found the other staff to be engaging and helpful. All in all it was tasty meal and I would definitely eat there again.

We just arrived in Puerto Penasco today and after checking into our condo in Las Conchas, we headed to the Malecon to eat. Mary's looked good but it was hella hot & humid and my dry-desert-dwelling, pale ass was looking for someplace with air conditioning. The guy was persistent in finding us a nice spot in front of a giant fan though, so we decided to eat here. I'm very glad we caved. The service was excellent and the food was very tasty. All four of us ordered something different and it was all flavorful and delicious. I got grilled shrimp tacos, my hub ordered ceviche tostada's, my son grilled shrimp and my daughter chicken quesadillas. Their salsa was delicious too, with just the right amount of bite. Bonus points for the beautiful view too!

INCREDIBLY disappointing. Day trip to Rocky Point with a colleague. We drove down to the Malecón and parked. Strolling up and down the street, Mary's appeared to be very pleasant. Mama always said not to judge a book by its cover. The seafood er, aroma, was not enticing. Tables were left uncleaned until guests came in to be seated. We knew instantly that we had made a mistake but soldiered on anyway. Our hopes for a great seafood lunch were immediately dashed by the olfactory assault and TOSTITOS. No Mexican restaurant in the US serves Tostitos as the chips but in Mexico? Are you KIDDING me? Where are the incredibly tasty totopos that are found everywhere else? We sniffed the salsa and took a pass. So although we had set our minds on seafood, we ended up ordering "fajitas" so as to avoid the likelihood of becoming ill on the four hour drive back. The meat was bland, and seemed like it had been microwaved or pre-prepared. Vegetables squishy and tortillas thin and greasy. Service was lackluster and when we went to pay, we were informed that the tip must be cash. Two stars ONLY because of the nice view (through very dirty windows). Best advice? Stay away!

Francisco was a nice waiter. Avocados were great, shrimp in them were a little small for being in shrimp country. The breaded shrimp were bigger and pretty good. If I had to critique though, maybe a little tough. Oysters seemed like they had been shucked and left in the fridge while. You can do that for 30min, but not since 10 oclock in the morning or they get Dehydrated. Drinks were cold. Margarita was also pretty good. Right on the ocean.

Came here after our original pick was closed for some reason on a Friday nite. Great spot. Fresh seafood, everything we ordered was tasty, service upstairs was great. Drinks also fresh and very food had margaritas highly recommend.Reasonable prices payed $85 for 4 people including drinks...for it being in the malecon and a tourist trap price was still good and the food well worth it. Volveremos!

The food is very good!! They have indoor seating and an up top patio with a view of the ocean. Require masks and social distancing. Service is great, totally recommend.

    The view from upstairs seating.

The ambience is great. You can sit upstairs or downstairs and both offer a view of the ocean, which is beautiful. Chips and salsa are not good. Chips are like Tostitos or the chips you get with nachos at a concession stand and Salsa is bland and not what you would expect in Mexico. Ordered the scallop taco, shrimp quesadilla, battered shrimp, and fried whole fish. Scallop Taco - good, small scallops. Shrimp Quesadilla - best shrimp quesadilla ever! Lots of shrimp and flavor. Battered Shrimp - it was okay. Had some cinnamon flavor in the batter. Pedro's shrimp is better. Fried Whole Fish - it was sea bass yesterday. Really delicious and a great bang for the buck I believe it was $18 (give or take) and you get two whole fish. Every thing was very good and service was great. I prefer Pedro's though. Note that Pedro's doesn't have the view, which is a downside.

Scallop tacos!!!! DO NOT get oysters though. They were really salty!

We were the only ones in the restaurant when we went. The young girl who took care of us was great! She was friendly & super sweet. Hubby got a Michelada & added a shot of Tito's since there was no alcohol in the tomato juice part of the drink. He said it was really good. My sangria was good. It's made with pineapple juice. We ordered the chips & salsa. We also ordered the guacamole. The chips & salsa were good. I was happy there was no heat in the salsa since I am a huge whimp when it comes to spicy food. The guacamole was really good after we added some salt & lime juice. I normally don't eat guacamole, but I liked it too. We went "out of our box" & tried the whole fried fish. We split it. We asked her to add rice & beans if it didn't come with it. It was huge. The fish was fried perfectly! Hubby loved it. I liked it too. It was moist. The rice was good. The refried beans were excellent! I don't know what they do, but the texture & flavor was the best we have ever had. I loved them. We will definitely make this place are go to when we come down again. Please note tips are cash only in case you don't carry cash!

I have Carlos V shrimp, something new for me. Such generous portions, you'll leave her 10lbs heavier. Allegedly they have dessert but too full to try. Our service was excellent: timely and efficient. Our meal consisted of Guacamole with Chips to start, Coconut Shrimp and 3-Flags Enchiladas with two glasses of Red Wine (sorry, no varietal description). The chef/cook must have prepared all the courses on-site because everything was prepared and cooked perfectly, and the plates reflected the expertise. $39 for the meal before the tip. As mentioned in a prior post, the restaurant is on Calle 13 across the the Hotel Señorial. After having driven past this block at least a hundred times, I'm amazed we just now tried this restaurant.
