Honestly, I love this store. Now some items can be pricey. So you have to know what you're looking for. Produce, meats, frozen foods, tend to be generally good. Prepared foods, some general items can be higher priced. Sales are good. I like the meat counter, chicken is good. Sausages are good. They have a pretty large wine selection too. Also their health section with vitamins is good too. Staff is always nice. They have a DJ on the weekends and food specials through the week. They make a good sandwich to go. Other prepared foods are good. It's not huge store but a nice size to easily navigate. In a cute area in Lakewood. In the summer you can grab a homemade sandwich, chips and drink and head to Edgewater park. I miss the bar where you could drink and shop. Oh well. It's a good grocery experience. read more

I recently stopped into Lucky's while in the Lakewood area and was immediately reminded of how much I loved shopping here when I lived nearby. While typical grocery shopping here is amazing too, this review is focused on the "extras" they offer. I'm not sure when it happened, but I was thrilled to see that they once again have a full salad bar. Their salad bar is always fresh and I love that they have some of the options from the prepared food counter on the bar for the same price. I added in a little bit of the orzo salad and kale salad and asked the lady at the counter for a small amount of the corn salad because the one of the salad bar did look a little dry. Luckily she obliged and gave me a spoonful to add into my container. Lucky's also has an awesome sushi and ramen bar with discounts on Tuesday. They serve Edison's pizza by the slice and full pies, and they offer full rotisserie chickens for 5.99 on Wednesdays. I love getting pre marinated meat and fish from their meat counter. There's usually a lot of different chicken flavor options, which really cuts down on prep time. In the cheese cooler, they also have great ready to cook meals. From Mac and cheese to chicken wings and meatloaf, it's really paradise for those that don't like to cook too much. Their beer and wine departments go without stating. Their awesome. I love combing through the single beer cooler to sample something new. They also have discount wine bins that are really fun. It's always nice to discover a new wine you like for less than $20. On the weekends you may be pleasantly surprised to find a DJ spinning tracks while you grocery shop. I LOVE THIS! You can buy wine or beer by the glass and make grocery shopping a full event on a Friday night. There's so much I could say about Lucky's but I'll keep it short hahaha. Overall, fantastic place. I go to Lucky's for the convenience. It's a smaller grocery store but they carry some quality stuff. They have anything you need. I haven't been able to figure out how the isles are organised but like I said, not that big. What is big is there beer and wine section. There's a small bakery section and a pizza place inside. Prices are reasonable, some items I won't buy because there marked up too much, but I can usually find what I need. They actually have good quality and priced dog treats. It's clean and better than some of the bigger stores, just have to watch the prices on some things. read more

UPDATED REVIEW -- Lucky's is still a good grocery store and I go here more often now than Aldi's grocery store. The Cleveland and Columbus locations of Lucky's Market were recently bought by Dave's Market (a Cleveland Chain) in March 2020. This review is for the Cleveland location, in Lakewood, Ohio. I buy staples here such as bread, snacks, Rotisserie chicken, almond Milk, fruits and vegetables, ice-cream, etc. Rice is cheaper at Aldi's. SERVICE -- The employees are super helpful and nice but the store could use some improvements. HOT FOODS BAR / SALAD BAR -- The food here is hit or miss because the quality sometimes is not great. I've arrived many times to find dry meat (and other hot food items) and salads that looked like it had been sitting out for a long time. Also, they run out of food in the evenings really early sometimes. I've arrived after work numerous times, by 7:30pm/8:00pm to find no food left in the hot foods bar. I was often asked if I needed help finding anything, which I appreciated. Great market on the corner of West 117th in Lakewood. I had heard about this market for a while now and never realized this is where it was! It has a great selection of specialty bakery that has no added chemicals or food dyes, has a stand for the famous Edison's Pizza, a soup and sandwich spot, fresh sushi and ramen. Not only that, there are typical grocery items as well as one of the largest gluten free sections I've seen in Cleveland. We tried the sushi and a slice of the Edison's pizza. The pizza is always good, but the sushi was surprisingly great (I.e. not your typical grocery store sushi). Will be back to try the ramen and get more sushi and to take a better look at the drink selection. read more

For example, a small pint-size container. Pasta salad was 1295. It made it caused them 25 cents to make. One of the Olive oils on their shelf was priced at 2999 I got the same bottle of target down the street for 999. Frozen vegetables 799 bag, are you crazy?. There's only a few things I will buy at the store. One is pizza. The other is coffee. Even the cost of their flowers have doubled since last year. Self checkout is sensitive as heck. The machine was not calibrated correctly, and wouldn't let me scan the 4 items that I had (that were all the same items). I was then accused of stealing (by this extremely rude woman with red hair), which was extremely offensive. She then proceeded to aggressively grab the items out of my hands without my permission. Just discovered this place after realizing Wholefoods was closed and all the juice bars were closed. I was craving for healthy plant based proteins and cold pressed juices, took a gamble and webt to this place and i was amazed i found plenty of things here that i normally find at Wholefoods. I'm so impressed and will be coming back again since they close at 11pm. I have shopped exclusively at WholeFoods for 12 years and it's nice to see other supermarkets finally using their commin sense and selling healthy unprocessed plant based foods that caters to educated Vegans and Vegetarians. read more

I want to give a shout-out to Rod, in the meat & seafood dept. I went into the store on Sunday, January 30th, wanting to make some ribs for the playoff games. I have a challenging time trying to get the silverskin off the back of the ribs, (those of you who have done this know what I'm talking about)! I asked Rod, from the meat counter if he would take the silverskin off the back of the package of ribs I was holding? He said, "he would give it a try." I love this place. Thank you for existing. ::cries softly:: I don't live near an Earth Fare of Whole Foods, so this Lucky's really fulfills a great need for me. It even has a giant, free parking lot. ::cries again:: I was impressed with Lucky's Market. I found it to have a great selection of absolutely everything I needed and didn't know I needed. I really appreciated their health and wellness selection of all those weird crazy superfoods my cookbooks always tell me to put in my smoothies, but I can never find. They even carry CBD and hemp oil products, which is so helpful. The entire market is immaculately organized. You won't find one avocado out of place here. I kind of zipped in and out, but I will absolutely be doing my shopping here from now on. Oh, and most importantly, the prices were reasonable. I found the produce to be fresh and equitable for the quality. On quick glance, they also had a really cool local beer and wine section which I could do some serious damage at. The store has basically everything you could ask for in a grocery store, and it's conveniently located to many on the east side of Lakewood and west side of Cleveland. Although the cashiers are very friendly, they also account for long lines and wait tones at the checkouts If you buy items that are not on sale you will most likely end up paying more than you would at another grocery store; however, the sales are relatively good. There are also some added benefits of shopping here which include being able to purchase a draft beer or a glass of wine to drink while you shop. They also offer quick bites such as subs, sushi, and pizza. My personal favorite special is two slices of pizza and a draft beer for five dollars! read more

Simply put, we're lucky to have Lucky's in Lakewood. I docked a star because the store is a bit cramped, the parking lot here is a disaster, and the coffee bar is quite the disappointment (thankfully Starbucks is across the street). Those things aside, Lucky's is great. Fresh produce, beautiful open atmosphere, great customer service, and quality range of products. For those of us near the lake, it's great not having to trek far for groceries or quick eats. If you can, do yourself a favor and walk or at least come at off-peak hours. Having been a fan of Lucky's Market after visiting their Columbus location was thrilled and excited to see them come to NE Ohio. They cater to a fresh healthy lifestyle with abundant produce. The prepared foods section was chock full of delicious choices. Frozen foods had a great selection of unfamiliar new brands to try. Salad bar, fresh soups and olive bars were all well stocked and clean. Wine choices were good, and gentleman working the wine aisle was helpful. Shopping with a glass of wine will cost you a mere $3. How's that for adding fun to your shopping experience. Memorial Day added to the already newly open crowd, but help was always available to assist and most things were easy to find. I called it. When places first open up, a new staff is excited and all the corporate knob-slobbers are still in town to make the place look polished a place cannot be beat. Fast forward a few months and its already the "B" team working here for the most part. Some are good, but not all. They are constantly out of hot food. I came at 2pm, mind you. FILTHY tables. Lettuce at salad bar was empty and the poor lady was told "10 minutes"....for lettuce. Nobody seems to give damn anymore. Stuff only gets cleaned, stocked unless its brought up. And even then it takes forever. For some reason the beer is always stocked and pulled foreword. Probably because the beer reps are there making sure the small retail space they have looks spiffy. Being a transplant from the east coast I'm used to stores like Whole Foods, Wegmans, and other smaller shops to get my organic foods. Lucky's surpasses those chains in every aspect! The quality of all products/produce, customer care, prepared foods, store set-up/atmosphere, and low cost compared to those other stores! The health person even helped me find a solution for my dry/irritated scalp, that no one has ever been able to help me with! I love bringing my family here, and my family loves it too! I stopped in here for the first time and feel I love with how open it feels. I love the large selection of local options and their extensive fresh fish and meat counter. Their beer selection was also great and stocked with Ohio beers. They also. Have a wide variety of bulk options from candy to rice and other dry goods. They have great weekly specials include sushi Tuesday which they we're sampling when I was there. Needless to say I will be back on a Tuesday in the near future. Be sure to grab one of their $2 draft beers at the bar before you start you're shopping. That's right $2 all day every day. The store isn't huge but is stocked with plenty of fresh and local options. I'm from Columbus where we had a Lucky's and I'm ashamed to say... I NEVER WENT. I had always heard people in the Clintonville area talk about it, but I didn't feel the need to go out of my way for a grocery store. Well, let me tell you, I was missing out. Luckily for me, when I moved to Cleveland, so did Lucky's. And conveniently, just a few miles away. I am picky when it comes to grocery stores and I miss Kroger terribly. I think I may have had several mental breakdowns over having to shop at Giant Eagle. That is, until I step foot in Lucky's. The produce and meat selection is what really won me over. It's almost always cheaper and fresher than Giant Eagle. They have more of a selection and everything has been delicious. Not to mention you can drink alcohol while you shop?! Yes please. I also love that you can earn money off of future grocery purchases, unlike every other grocery store who only has fuel perks... which I never use. My only complaints, and the reason for my 4 star rating, is that unfortunately it's not a one-stop-shop. Aside from meat and produce, I find most other product to be more expensive. They don't necessarily carry "generic" brands aside from their own and even that's not every product. Also, although they seem to be getting a little better, when they first opened they always seem to be out of a couple things that I needed which was super annoying because then I would have to go to another grocery store and ain't nobody got time for that! read more

I want so much to mention all the wonderful things about this grocery store, and I will, but firstly I have to mention that this was one of the most stressful trips to the grocery store in my recent experience. I actually was really looking forward to visiting Lucky's. I had heard tons of good things from people in the neighborhood, and given that I'm somewhat of a grocery store nerd, I couldn't wait to check it out. I saw a lot of complaints about the parking situation beforehand, but I didn't have a huge issue on my visit. It's likely that you'll have to wait a couple minutes for a spot to open in the adjoining lot, but honestly I find that's most often the case for all grocery stores during peak shopping times. After entering though, I could tell immediately that getting around the actual store was going to be an issue. The shopping lanes are really, really close together. To be honest, 2 carts in the same aisle can barely get past each other. In addition, there's not a lot of logic in my mind to how the lanes are sorted, which isn't a big deal, but what's annoying is the setup of the store. Most of the areas where folks have to line up to purchase (deli counter, ready made foods, prepared foods, coffee bar) are also in the path of people trying to get in and around aisles, so there are bottlenecks happening everywhere you turn. Not to mention people walking around with pints of beer as if you're grocery shopping at a street festival. I honestly don't think there's a single place in this grocery store where you could stand and not be in someone's way. I also grew incredibly frustrated after waiting almost 10 minutes at the deli counter (no numbering system even on a busy Saturday) and when I was called up to the counter thinking I was next, the gentleman told me he could only help if I needed prepared foods because there was a backup on the slicers for deli meats. There were only 3 people ahead of me, which seems a little ridiculous that the slicers were "backed up" with only that many people. I walked away without my lunchmeat and headed over (very, very slowly because again, traffic is an issue) to the produce. I was dismayed to find that most of the staples I had come for such as garlic, kale and cilantro were completely sold out. I did ask the gentleman working in the produce section about the issue, and he was kind enough, but basically they were understocked for the amount of customers it seems. I ended up leaving getting only half of what I needed, and I didn't feel the prices were as much of a "deal" as they want you to think it is. There were some decent deals on Lucky's branded products, but it wouldn't be enough to make me want to endure the stress of visiting this grocery store again. In addition, knowing that stock is an issue, I'd much rather go to a different grocery store where I know I won't experience that. All that being said, I did promise I'd mention the good, and I think there are some perks to this grocer. Firstly, is obvious: the location is a benefit. There aren't a lot of decent groceries in this part of Lakewood, and Lucky's definitely fills a gap in that way, thus the likely reason why it's so busy. The second is I LOVE the idea of their grocery bag discount/donation program. I always bring my reusable grocery bags when I shop, but who doesn't love a little extra incentive? At Lucky's, you can get either $.10 off your bill, or you can turn that $.10 into tokens to be donated to one of three local nonprofits of your choosing. Little incentive programs like these are far more valuable to me as a shopper that the ability to drink beer while I shop...but to each his own. Lastly, I will say I did like their bulk section. They had spices, grains, nuts and candy in bulk, and an easy weighing machine. It's nice to know I can bring sustainable containers to a place like this and stock up on pantry items. Overall, I think Lucky's does fill a much needed gap in Lakewood, I just wish they would have thought of the user experience in a more practical manner, rather than just focusing on the "bells and whistles" to get customers in the door. Hopefully after a few months, the mad rush will slow down and things will become more systematic, but after my stressful visit, I definitely won't be returning anytime in the near future. read more

Okay to be fair I live in Rocky River where we have Whole Foods, Giant Eagle, Earth Fare, Heinen's, Aldi's, and even Target so compared to that I thought shopping at Lucky's was just an okay experience. I think I would be more impressed if I lived in the immediate area and didn't have much else for grocery shopping options. The store felt a little cramped to me and I did not find the prices for what I purchased to be less than where I normally shop. They have select sushi for $5 on Tues, you can drink alcohol while shopping, lots of items you can buy in bulk, and they have made to order ramen so you do have some special perks while shopping here. Again it's a decent store and you'll probably find most of what you need here, I just have experienced better so I would not make a special trip here again in the future. One thing that sticks out to me is that staff never greeted me or asked me if I needed any help, even the checkout person was pretty lackluster when I paid for my items. I suppose I am just used to a friendlier environment or maybe I just came in on an off day. To be truthful I have resting witch (but with a b not a w) face so that could have been the problem. Again, locals check out this place I am sure you will love it (just go during off-peak hours). But if you have a variety of grocery stores already available to you then you're not missing out on anything. read more

Let me just start by saying... I am honestly SO impressed by this store! Every. Little. Detail. From the $2 pints and $3 wine while you walk through the store, to the endless options of fun organic, vegan and vegetarian options, to the fresh and reasonably priced produce (77 cent pineapples guys!) and the friendly staff. But, I have to say, I think the best part are the bag donations. So, I am trying to get more into bringing my own bags. Well, at Lucky's, they encourage that too. For each bag (or at least one) you are charged 10 cents. You are given the option, if you bring your own bags, to either remove the bag fee, or to donate it to a number of charities. If you choose to donate, Lucky's will match your 10 cent donation. They then give you a coin to drop into this fun little maze thing (reminded me of the ones from museums!) leading to your charity of choice. How awesome is that? I am hoping the place cools down a bit after the grand opening, but I will definitely be back to shop in the future.
