Love the products, love the business model of donating money to great causes like Yay Bikes. What I don't love are the attitudes of 50% of the people who work there. Is it written somewhere in Lucky's philanthropic mission that they need to give smug hipsters a chance by giving them what appears to be their first job? The young man who rang me up tonight held up a line of three other people for quite a while, while he flirted with the customer he'd just gotten done ringing up. I mean, I'm a grouch, but I wasn't the only one who noticed how comically self-absorbed it was. After his crush left, he made up for lost time by rushing everyone else through and being completely rude. I also get attitude (a lot of it) every time I don't bring my own bag. For the record, when I get Lucky's bags, I use them for recycling, so it's not like I just throw them out. Anyway, I appreciate the store and the products, but the young people up front are often rude and poorly trained. It definitely hurts what could be a great store. read more

I like this place. Its basic concept is no different than Whole Foods, but the execution is less pretentious, which helps a wanna be foodie like myself feel more comfortable exploring and asking questions. One feature I thought was unique and pretty cool is if you bring your own bags (which you should!) you get either 10 cents off of your purchase per bag or the opportunity to choose one of 3 charities to donate your 10 cents to on your way out the door. I enjoy grocery shopping at Lucky's. I used to shop at other supermarkets, after I came here, I realized that Lucky's produce are so much fresher and most of the time are cheaper. I have been using Moocho(phone app) to pay for my groceries and you sure can save some money if you come here often! when you spend certain amount of money, you get $5 back. So it's a great deal buying groceries here with moocho. Sometimes they have back to school fuel, midterm fuel(bags with food, snacks, drinks, etc) for students! Very cute! read more

Produce seems pretty top notch here, and it's pretty cheap, maybe even a loss leader in some cases. There's also some great buys in bulk coffee, with a long list of imports for only $8 a pound. Everything else is pretty pricey, albeit unique and/or premium. The meats also stand out. Chicken breasts the size of a dinosaur's. Watch their ads for the good deals. Lucky's has a bunch of great stuff and is so much better than giant eagle or the wildly overpriced Whole Foods. The vegan gummy bears are reason enough to go. Probably my favorite go to grocery stores. The prices are super reasonable, and their produce is always very fresh. I also love that they have great sauces, canned products, etc. A lot of them even come in Lucky's own brand. These products, which have becomem staples in my pantry, are usually great quality for a great price. For example, I'll get a can of coconut milk for $1.50, when the regular THAI brand coconut milk can go for $3 a can. Lucky's also has canned veggies for great prices, a huge bottle of their Olive Oil for only $7, and an amazing assortment of Pasta sauces that I cannot live without. Their sauces average $2 a jar, but this is no Ragu, or Prego. Their red wine sauce is amazing and so are their other marinaras/tomato sauces. Their meat section is also extremely reasonably priced and great quality. I also love their bulk items that they have in stock. I'll usually stock up on their black rice and other grains--especially when they're on sale. Be sure to check up on their newsletters too! Those always include great deals for the week. read more

OK, so I'm not sure where to start here. You get a great selection of fresh produce at incredibly good prices, some awesome deals on bulk food and staple items, a damn good meat counter (try the orange honey bacon. Really.), and the fun toys like squeezing your own juices or grinding your own peanut butter through their machines were a lot of fun. About my only big complaint is that their bakery section is kinda meh, and they don't stock much bread I'd consider good for sandwiches, but they're good enough that my wife and I have decided we're going to be doing a lot of our grocery shopping here from now on. I feel like I got a better value than we used to at Kroger, and I kept seeing things there I'd expect to find at Whole Foods for about 2/3 to half of what I would probably have paid. We needed a store like this in the Clintonville / North Campus area. I'm thrilled that Columbus finally has one. read more

I reeeeeally like this place. It's got about everything I need, much of it being local and/or organic. I don't see myself going to Giant Eagle or Kroger ever again. [though I'll still be frequenting Aldi for my cheap snack, produce and German needs.] It's like this wonderful organic+local grocery Valhalla that fits perfectly in Clintonville. My only question is how this will affect Clintonville Community Market and Weilands, which are also great. Lucky's has a lot of what they have plus more. The pluses are huge produce and frozen selection. I'd say where it is lacking is the bakery- they don't have very many house made breads, nor a wide selection from any local bakeries. Also they don't have much in the way of coffee- a huge tea section, but all I could find was one small cabinet with a small selection of Crimson Cup stuff. But overall it's pretty great- not even overpriced, friendly workers, and just good vibes. Bring your own bags for a [small] discount. read more

I really do love Lucky's but you have to have to have to put your pizza slices through the oven before selling them. This is the second time I've gotten food poisoning eating your pizza by the slice. I recently moved out of my parents' home and now fully buy my own groceries. I love to eat organic, natural, local, and for that Lucky's is a great option. For the most part, it's affordable - consider it the love child of Whole Foods and Aldi. Like an Aldi or Trader Joe's, the produce isn't always the greatest, and they definitely don't have it all, but it's conveniently located if you live in Clintonville/North of OSU's campus. They have many vegan/specialty items and even sometimes produce that I could get for cheaper at Giant Eagle across the street, but overall shopping there has helped me maintain a relative budget. read more

I recently just started going to Lucky's because it's close to my house, and I don't feel unsafe like at the Kroger on high and 5th.... They definitely have some great deals, but not everything is cheaper than competing grocery stores. The produce is average, nothing compared to when I lived in California. But this is Ohio, so I'm not docking them on produce. It's good quality and super affordable! Besides meat and produce I have shopped the other aisles too much, I usually go in with a list and get out.... except for the beer section. When I first moved to Clintonville I was curious where the co-op was. While I have yet to find it (because we do not have one) this is the next best thing. It's a natural and organic grocery store that doesn't break the bank and it's right by my house. So excited! So the prices on produce here are ridiculously good. I'm hoping that they stay this cheap. I hope they're not in their Grand Opening "honeymoon" stage still and after I'm a hooked shopper, all the prices will go up. The frozen food, packaged food and cans are on par with a Whole Foods--unless they are on sale, then they are very well promoted at a good price and you stock up! The meats are fresh and while I don't think everything is quite "organic" they're labelled "Never Ever" which is their moniker for naturally farmed! A few times a month boneless chicken boobs go on sale for $1.99/lb and unlike their other grocery competitors, this isn't a bulk price where you have to buy 10 lbs. to get the sale. Bulk section is plentiful. Beans, grains, nuts, dried fruits & candies. If my recipe is calling for a 1/2 cup of pecans, I can eyeball the exact amount. No waste! In the fancy cheese section, there's a little bin for cheese ends, which I especially like since I am only usually feeding myself (and I LOVE CHEESE!). It's marked "Feeling Lucky? $4 and under" It's a good way to explore a few bites of a new cheese for a great value and not too much commitment. In the deli, they have their own "Lucky's Baked" turkey, roast beef and ham. I've never been one for lunch meats as I think I had a slimey experience at some point during my childhood. I was offered a sliced of the turkey on a recent visit and it was really good! Like the leftover turkey on Thanksgiving sliced for sammies. Roast beef is good too. I'd go for their "house" deli meats though. I got some proscuitto (only one option) and it really, really sucked. They always have a white and red wine on sale in their flyer, so you can definitely one-stop-shop here if you're having people over. My only beef with Lucky's is that they always seem to be out of things. Especially things in their Sale flyer or things I NEED to be buying. Ha! It's frustrating. Stopped by here for some groceries on my last trip back home to Ohio. I almost wish I hadn't because I fell in love! Why can't I find a market this cute, well-priced, & well-stocked in AZ?! They put a big jar of pickles on top of a bag of chips, a cabbage AND a bottle of drinkable yogurt on top of a loaf of bread, smashing it. What a nice find! My son Goes to Ohio State and had been told this was one of the best places to buy fresh local produce. We stopped in to buy him some groceries and were pleasantly surprised by the nice selection of healthy food options. They seem to cater to a health conscious clientele. Much smaller than a Whole Foods but similar categories of merchandise. We enjoyed taking our time to peruse the aisles for new products and comparing prices to old favorites. They carry their own lucky brand on a lot of items which seem to keep the prices in line with similar stores. The salad bar looked fantastic and the cheese selections were priced well. We lived that they had samples out of many products. Not sure if that is an everyday thing or just sundays but it works as we purchased several products that were being sampled such as turkey gravy potato chips.. and yes they were delicious. If you are looking for vitamins and supplements this is the place too. They had a 30% off sale going on so good timing on our part. The meats and deli had nice selections and quality appeared to be high. We will definitely be back next time we are in Columbus. read more

So far so good. Lucky's has a nice selection considering the size. There were some really great deals in the meat department including grass fed ground beef for only $3.99 a pound. House-made sausage is regularly $3.99 a pound, and they carry three varieties of house-cured nitrate-free bacon. The bakery selection was a little sparse, but we picked up some of the best hamburger buns we've ever had. Can't wait to go back to see if the "Lucky Breaks" continue to be so good. read more

Lucky's market is terrible, they seem to only care about numbers, they don't care about their workers, they have set recipes that the regional dude in charge of recipes just gets off of recipes.com, they charge way too much for hot bar, salad bar and deli foods, which don't even taste good because of the poor recipes. Whatever good soups and/or salads they had they have replaced with similar yet terrible tasting foods. The people used to be nicer but now they are all anxious and unhappy, which shows with the quality of the store. They are over worked, under staffed, under paid, and under appreciated. This is obvious from their demeanor and behavior. You can see it on their faces, hear it in their voices and taste it in the air. I hate that I have to at least give one star rating. If I could, I would give it NO stars. Luckys market USED to be great. They are a joke now. read more

I freaking love Lucky's. While it can be a little pricey, I've found that many "health food" items at Lucky's are cheaper than at Kroger or giant eagle. Plus they have an app that gives you $5 off every $100 spent, and all organic produce is 10% off on Sundays. The sandwiches are a steal at $5.99 and no upcharges for avocado, bacon, or gluten free bread!! Their pizza is also great and very moderately priced. The bulk bins are my favorite, especially when they run the 30% of deals. I love that Lucky's makes an effort to give back to the community. If you bring your own bag, they'll give you a token to donate 10 cents to one of three charities, and a 10% of all Lucky's brand profits goes to local charities as well. Plus, Lucky's makes an effort to highlight local food artisans and farmers products on their shelves. Like I said, I love them. I visit about 6 times a week. read more

I love the picture reasonably priced produced. It is the few stores that I can afford to buy local and organic produce. The best night to shop is Wednesday. It is double sales day plus the beer tasting offered between 150-2007 is fabulous. My only complaint would be the removal of the better and healthier bulk food item. I've gotta chime in on the praise for Lucky's. It's a bit of a trip for me, and I have a Trader Joe's close by, but I wanted to check it out for myself. It was definitely worth the trip. But don't worry, Trader Joe's, we're still on! Even if Whole Foods moves in nearby. First thing, it's located where the old Goodwill used to be, across the street from Giant Eagle (has anyone else mad-libbed Giant Eagle to Big Bird?) so I was familiar with the area. They've managed to squeeze a lot into a not so big area, and while it didn't feel too crowded on a Sunday, it could get cramped. Success, what a bummer. Anyway, I love the produce selections, yes there's a lot of variety and no lack of quantity on my visit. I'm thinking a follow-up during the weekday is in order to get another perspective. Now, on to my favorite part: the bulk food aisles. I first saw these at Whole Foods and I was hooked. What if I just want to try a single serving of orzo because I saw Rachel Ray use it in a dish? This is perfect for me. Did I forget to mention the coffee aisle with several selections? Or the nuts and sweets or the syrup? I spent a lot of time in those aisles that day. The personal product section was impressive, as was the bakery. I wasn't that impressed with the fish selection, however. But, that was only ONE DAY's visit. I will be back to follow up on the seafood. The rest of the store was like your typical grocery with narrow aisles (who thought narrowing the aisles was a good idea? Reveal yourself!) The employees all seemed very interested in helping you and the checkout was a breeze with a very friendly bagger. Love those checkout lights by the way! Really, one visit on a weekend doesn't do the place justice. Just go see for yourself, probably best on a weekday if you'd like to linger and not feel like you're in the way. read more

I had a love for Luckys market when I live down in Kentucky and I'm happy they're spreading slowly throughout the Midwest because it is a great place to get cheap organic and natural foods outside of Trader Joe's. I remember when the first one open up in Lexington Kentucky and how excited I was to learn that they were big on trying to be a competitor to Whole Foods and Trader Joe's but at a reasonable price. So when I came in Columbus and found out there was actually one in the area I was very happy to get some my food here instead of going to Meijer or Kroger. The staff is always amazing at these locations with helping you out finding stuff that you're looking for or even questions in general on the product. The one downfall I always have with places like this are they are always only in the high class areas instead of trying to push them to the market of areas that are food deserts and need this kind of place to thrive. I would love to see more of these places in places that traditionally you would look at but could help that community eat better at a good price without worrying about being part of the trend itself. As for someone who lives here in Roseville I would love to see one of these in see and a area close by like Saint Clair Shores or even in Roseville itself. Unfortunately I feel like if this does ever come to Michigan you would not see one near my area I would have to travel out to area like Troy or even Rochester Hills. But nonetheless I still love this concept of this market just because what you can get pricewise for food would be just a smaller amount than eating your unhealthy items. read more
