Do not order from Lucy's. The problem isn't the cakes, it's the customer service. I have ordered with them in the past and several times they have lost the order, only to discover it several minutes later. Today was the worst, my girlfriend ordered a Birthday Cake, a week ago and left the order with one of the gentleman at the location at Marbach and 90. When her sister went to pick up the cake they had nothing prepared and didn't offer any assistance to make the situation right. read more

When I called to order the cake, the lady on the phone was rude to me, as though I was bothering her by trying to order. The cake was about $35. It was decorated very well, but I was disappointed in the taste. The icing was waxy and too sweet and I couldn't eat much of it. My daughter didn't like the cake either. I kept the left overs, as I always do. The very next day the ingredients in the icing were separated. This cake shop is using something different to make the cakes then they did years ago. I will never again buy Lucy's cakes. If I don't have time to make the cake myself from scratch, I just won't have cake. Just great cakes. Highly recommend the strawberry filling with the buttercream frosting. And the decorations are absolutely beautiful!

Working with them for a cake quote was inconvenient. I called over the phone, they said to come in but i live far and told them that I can send emails of ideas for a quote. I sent an email inquiry for a cake wanted a price with and without characters. I sent three pictures of similar cakes/designs and asked for a cake quote on those ideas and they said to pick one particular for a quote. Now I've gotten quotes from several other people and everyone was able to give me a quote based off the photos, I don't know why it's so difficult for them to do that so never mind they lost my business. The cakes are delicious but for custom orders I'll look elsewhere. we aren't in dinosaur ages anymore, I don't see why you can't look at 3 cakes that are very similar and put together a vision to give a price and why they keep saying to come in for a quote. I had a very bad experience 19 years ago when I ordered a birthday cake when they were located at Shoppers City Mall. I said I would never return! Well it took 19 years and the only reason I did because I was looking for dog-bone cookie cutter and didn't feel like driving to the Northside cake supply, so I made the mistake of coming back here. This place looked like the place that time forgot! Old, empty shelves very limited merchandise/supplies, old merchandise with dust, no cookie cutters of any sort, poor customer service and I was never acknowledged while standing at the front counter! Big mistake by return thinking they had cookie cutters. Nope! None! Plus I'll never forget the way I was treated when I tried to pick up my cake 19 years ago! I went to place an order on Thursday 21st, the woman in charge of showing the cake books/taking the order is RUDE!.. GHETTO RUDE!!!! I ONLY ordered a cake from this joke of a "professional cake shop" because my mom loves their frosting. I ordered a "shimmer" be added to the cake. I got there to pick it up & no shimmer visible. A Joann took it to the back to have it re-sprayed. Joann/whoever was in the back, just sprayed it over the foil gold leaves on the cake & It made the Golden-Yellow trim frosting look ugly & dull! DON'T BUY BIRTHDAY CAKES FROM THESE LADIES!!! All I wanted was a nice birthday cake and what I got in return was a sloppy, leaning mess of three layers! It wasn't even our idea to get three layers but the lady was insisting to because "she does cakes in this style all the time" so trusting her judgement we bought the cake. Once we picked up the cake it immediately could not stand on it's own the bottom layer was the thinnest and the top was the thickest the cake itself was made improperly. If these ladies are so "good" at making cakes then why did they ruin mine. Also when I called and told them of this situation they said it was my driving that made the cake this way and we would have to pay 30 dollars to fix it. OUTRAGEOUS! If you do choose to buy a cake from these ladies don't expect much because they are just good and making a one layer one sheet cake. read more

Two weeks prior to our grandson's 1st birthday My wife and I ordered a cake for my grandson's 1st birthday which was on July 14, 2018 The cake was supposed to say: "Happy 1st Birthday Rylan" But instead when my wife showed up to pick it up just 2 hours before the party it said "Happy 1st Ryan" Of course my wife brought this to the attention of the woman that was taking care of her and of course they refuse to admit any kind of fault. When we ordered the cake we went over with the lady that took our order three times what we wanted on the cake. She even read back what we had wanted to be put on the cake and at the time everything seem to okay. The lady that gave us the cake on the 14th was able to put an L to correct his name but nothing else could be done about adding the word birthday. With only 2 hours left till the party we had no other choice but to take the embarrassing "Happy 1st Rylan" We have ordered a few cakes in the past from Lucy's and have never had this issue and were met with the level of disrespect that we were given on this date. I was so disappointed with the level of customer service I experienced. I needed a birthday cake for my baby's first birthday. The woman that attended me was absolutely no help. I asked her what were their prices and if they had any specials. Her answer was "it depends" I showed her two cakes I got off Pinterest Disney Princess themed and she said "you have to bring the princesses and if you want a crown you have to bring all of that yourself" when I inquired about pricing she said "idk what's your budget? Because a cake like that can be about $500". I got upset but politely asked to see pictures of their work or cakes they can make since she said the ones on the internet were not doable. The cakes were nice but the pictures had prices of $200/$165. When I asked if that was the price for the cake in the picture she said "no it's just so you have an idea". I got discouraged and upset decided to take my business elsewhere. There was no customer service she did not want to help she didn't offer or give me options. She made it pointless. My nephew actually recommended this place to me, he says another lady was very kind. So not sure what happened. read more

Years ago I got my UTSA graduation cake there. Since then I have gotten my mom's birthday cake there every year. It's always the same, 8" round with pineapple filling and red roses. I haven't been disappointed. The cakes are good, not too sweet and always fresh. read more

Here you place the order and they bring your order back here when its ready. They also sell a lot of baking pans, supplies, and decorations for all your baking needs at a cheaper cost than most baking supply stores. They also sell fresh cupcakes and parfaits to take home for your sweet tooth. We've never had an issue here when placing or receiving orders and make sure you pick up your cakes on time when they're ready. read more

Went in for cake supplies and the ladies can afford to step up their customer service. I was the only one in the store and there were 2 ladies working and could really care less that there was a customer needing assistance. I've come by here plenty for cake supplies and although its much closer than any other store for me, I now prefer to drive the extra miles for better service. I walked out without getting what I needed. Waste of time. Also the parking situation is horrible. read more

I wish I was able to put -5 stars. Joann, gave us such a horrible experience. Despite her nasty faces over the questions we asked, Joann seemed very annoyed and bothered. What happened to service with a smile? We had never been to Lucy's until today, & we won't be returning. We had no idea "orders had to be placed online" & not to mention Joann contradicted herself in saying we had to order at the "main location" no where in the store does it mention any of that. If that was truly the case Joann could've mentioned it without the attitude & snarky remarks as if "we should've known" I wouldn't waist my time or money on such a horrible place of business. Delicious cakes and cupcakes. My family has ordered a lot of birthday, graduation, etc cakes from here. All of them have been nothing short of perfect. My boss likes to order cupcakes here whenever its someone's birthday. Prices are reasonable. You can get anything from a standard cake to something elaborately decorated. I am pretty sure that they are closed on Sundays and close early on Saturdays so pick up your order on time! read more

What you are really paying for at Lucy's Cake shop is to deal with the ignorant staff, and horrendous management. You want your cake on time at the agreed upon date...go to HEB. You want staff that have basic comprehension skills, and will make your cake to your specifications...go somewhere else. They have the worst service ever! I have been going there since my daughter was a toddler. It is her 18th birthday and they had problems with there computer and instead of calling me to see if I would be ok with the changes they made they made the changes and expected me to be ok. When I asked for a discount just of 9.00 for non edible images owner refused and was upset and kept talking over me. I asked her so you would rather have a customer leave unhappy than give me a 9.00 discount she said yes! Wow and refused to give me refund of the money I put down. Very disappointed cupcakes were not made correctly and had to go back. Cupcakes had strawberries on top with a toothpick holding the strawberries in place not the smartest for something you bite into. A pretzel stick could also work. read more

Excellent! Lucy's has been a family tradition forever & now that I have my own family I do not hesitate using Lucy's for our special occasion needs! We ordered a cake for my daughter's birthday and were very impressed! The only request I had from my daughter was Dora. When I placed the order we decided on using an edible image of Dora, but when we picked up the cake I was blown away at the design that was done. I was not expecting much as all I specified was the Dora image and the message to write, but when I opened the box my mouth dropped open- it was beautiful! Everyone loved the amazing decorating, but the taste was also spectacular! We ordered a chocolate cake with strawberry filling and buttercream icing. This was the first time ordering the strawberry filling, but it won't be the last- it tasted fresh and paired perfectly with the chocolate cake! I ordered a cake from this place, they couldnt find my order, they kept telling me that the order wasnt finished. i spent 45 minutes on the phone trying to convince this lady that my husband put an order and she kept saying its incomplete! she never looked for it! my husband had to call, he spent other 35 minutes until this lady went to re-check again, and she found it... i spoke to the manager and her excuse was "sorry we have too many orders" ans she kept arguing with me! how is it my fault that there are too many orders???? My family and myself have used Lucys for over 20years from birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, graduations baby showers and the last three times I've been it's been horrible, the people are rude and act like it's a burden to take our order. When you call to ask a question, no one wants to check anything instead say it's too late to make changes (when I wasn't asking for one), I just wanted to make sure the size and colors were good, for my own peace of mind. First off I would give them a four star rating for the cakes~they are great~and reasonably nice folk as well. I've been ordering from them for several years now and recommended them to my sister who is from the Stone Oak area. All was great up until August 15, 2016 When I went to pick up a cake I ordered for my mother's 94th birthday for August 16~She has Alzheimer's and since I am her primary caregiver, I had to take her along and have her wait in the car. When I arrived they told me they had no cake ordered under her name. The sales lady there called to the other Lucy's cake shop and they had nothing, she made other calls and Nothing~Now you would think an order for a 94 year old's birthday would be taken with more care~But NO, I recall giving the order over the phone to some lady who said I reminded her that her mother's birthday fell near the same date, and I assumed great she would remember and all would be well~but NOT. Another thing was there rather blase stare of "don't know what to tell you' attitude which just upset me cause I had no time to order again caring for my mother and with my work schedule......So sorry Lucy's cake shop you need to understand the internet with Yelp and other sources is the modern equivalency of word of mouth so just my two cents....and to let other's know they need to make several calls to you guys to remind you to have there cake's ready on due dates....... read more
