    Menu- this place is awesome

We had a really enjoyable time at this board game cafe in St. Catherine's this past weekend. We were treated by the friendly owner and were surprised to see the full selection selection of alcohol, tea, great menu and a whole library of board games. We played soMe standards- Life and Yahtzee. However, next time, I would really love too take the owner up on suggest ting a game- why not try something new. For lunch, we had the vegan burger, beet salad and lentil samosas with delicious sweet potato fries. We will be back- this places as so fun!

    Yummy Brie and bacon.

We are in from out of town and lucky enough to come in during the soft launch. Great selection of games and a good menu, including getting a bowl of candy. My kids were thrilled. I had the Brie and bacon sandwich which was more Brie and ham. It was amazing. Good fries too. My son got the hummus which was also good. I ordered coffee and would have liked a place to get a refill like a lot of places do. I didn't see where to sign up for a random game. Might be cool to have something online so you could schedule a game and meet on site when enough people wanted to play.

How cute!!! $5 for endless boardgames!!

Adorable concept!! Great date night place! They have a bar which is an added bonus and a food menu which we didn't try. You can select from a ton.. I mean a TON of games and just hang out! We apparently are not very versed in boardgames and played our childhood classics, it was adorable. Perfect location downtown! We will definitely be back!!

Checked out this board game cafe with a couple of my friends and had a great time. The cafe has a great selection of games for anywhere to two people to large groups. There are games that are suitable to play with children as well as ones that adults will enjoys. Staff will help you learn any of the games that you are interested in, so don't feel like you can't come here if you haven't played many games before. The menu has a good selection of options including vegetarian and vegan options. My sister has a soybean allergy and some other food intolerance and the staff were very helpful with aiding her in selecting menu items that she could eat and checking the ingredients of the fry oil (they don't use soy). I had the Adventurer's Club sandwich, which I highly recommend. My sister had the Buffalo Chicken Dip, which was amazingly delicious. Our friend had the taco salad and quite enjoyed it as well. Their fries are crispy and nicely seasoned. The cafe also has a wide drink selection including teas, cocktails, beers, and ciders. Overall a very positive experience and I will definitely be bringing more friends back to this place.

You can think of Ludology Boardgame Cafe as a games cafe with great food, or as a restaurant with an impressive library of board games to play. Either way, this is a wonderful cafe in Downtown St. Catharines. I have visited for lunch a couple of times, and enjoyed their $10 (including taxes) sandwich of the day with side on both occasions. The decor is nice, service is very friendly and helpful and the food is freshly prepared and delicious! Generous portion sizes too. They also have a full bar menu, so day or night you're sure to enjoy yourself at Ludology.

There was a very nice selection of liquor and wine, but most of it was much more expensive than in the US. I did get a bottle of Baileys birthday cake that I'd never seen before. They also had several Coors selzers that aren't available here. They had a fairly small selection of beer. I'll be back when I'm in Niagara Falls again.

Even though it's not right in the Clifton Hill area it is still packed with out of towners like me and locals. We actually had to wait for a parking spot because the lot is so full. Everywhere outside the lot you have to pay for parking, hence the traffic in the lot. The liquor prices aren't bad and they will accept USD, and credit. I'm not sure about debit, what I do know is they wouldn't accept my Discover card. Normally I use Amex but they're charging international rates, so the hell with them on this trip. Today I used cash and the clerk made the exchange and provided change in CA currency. I picked out a 200 ml bottle of Crown Royal which costly about 11 USD, not best, but still cheaper than what you're going to get at any restaurant here. I'll probably pop back in here one more time before we go to the NY side. I'm sure we will need another night out on the town, and that whiskey is unbelievably good on a cold night.

I've been meaning to try Tangerine Tortoise for a while and I live near it so we walked in and did a quick 20-minute stroll around the block while they made our pizzas. What stopped me from trying it in the past was the abundance of great pizza chains in St. Catharines. St. Catharines has amazing food places with unique appeal if you ever want to try them. I actually frequent Score Pizza, Twice the Deal Pizza, and Fat Cat when I'm craving a certain type of pizza depending on the situation. I have had a lot of great pizza around the Niagara region from Fat Cat's to Di's and plenty of others. They all have their own appeal but there is just something about the taste the menu and the overall vibe here that puts The Tangerine Tortoise at the top for me. We ordered the spicy pineapple and the prosciutto with pistachio nuts and both were amazing. My favorite was the spicy pineapple because of the hot honey glaze on top. It added the perfect kick and sweetness. What's cool about Tangerine Tortoise is how it's inside an old repair shop and it's hard to tell it's a restaurant unless you know. It's also in the middle of a neighborhood which I think cities should allow more residential restaurant mix because it adds to the community appeal. As a St. Catharines local I absolutely love it and my sister coming in from the GTA loved it just as much.

I decided maybe Virgil was close enough to try it, and oh my goodness - I understood at once why poutine is so popular. If you also hail from a poutine-less area of the world, fear not - done well, it's a great dish. The beer was also excellent. I can see why The Black Lager is Canada's most award-winning Schwarzbier. There are some really good schwarzebiers in my city, and Silversmith's is right up there with them. I also have a Nut Brown Ale, and a small size of the Motueka, both of which I would get again. They know what they are doing with their food and drink. And the atmosphere is really good as well. The old-church-turned-brewery is beautiful. I'll let the pictures in other reviews do it justice. The service was good. It was relatively busy the night I was there, but the service was still quick enough and even a bit conversational - I recall one of the bartenders worked at Silversmith in the warmer months, and travels southeast Asia in the colder months, which is pretty cool. I would likely be a regular if I lived in the area.

It's a bright and clean store with great organization and help is available if needed. They take US dollars (giving you CA change) too, which was incredibly convenient for me since it was a pre money conversation stop. Wine and liquor is kept in the front of the store, with a convenient chilled wine selection as well. I wandered back to the "beer cooler" to find an impressive selection and was able to pick up a variety of local cans. Most craft beers are sold individually in large 473 mL aluminum cans. You'll pay for the beer as well as a $.10CA deposit (FYI: this location does not refund the deposit fees!) I felt pretty lucky to strike up a conversation with an employee who was able to recommend some great options and was very welcoming. Whether you're looking to party in up with friends, bring a couple drinks back to your house (or hotel room) or have a picnic in the park, the LCBO is your best bet for stocking up. Do note, the hours are limited compared to US liquor store hours, staying open the latest on Thursday and Fridays, and that's only until 8pm. I highly recommend grabbing some wine here and some cheese at Cheese Secrets around the corner and heading over to Simcoe Park for a picnic.
