What was left out of the explanation was: 1) How dry my eyes would be and that I would have to use expensive Eye drops for the rest of my life to counteract the dryness, 2) That my vision up close and mid-range (to read my laptop) would now require reading glasses. So, I was basically trading off having to use glasses to see at distance; to having to use glasses for up close reading and mid-range reading. In all the procedure was painless although expensive, I saved for two years for this procedure. If you were to ask me if I would do it again? The answer would be no; due to the lifelong side effects of the poor up close vision and having to use expensive eye drops several times a day. Remember this is one man's experience and other people's experience may differ.

The day of the surgery, he checked my eyes one more time to see if the prescription was correct. He then proceeded to tell me that my eyes were so aggressively destroyed due to rosacea in my eye. He did not explain what specifically that meant for me, cancelled my surgery and sent me out to get my refund. He then explained to my mom and I that he would not ever touch my eyes and had nothing to do for me. He then said that no eye doctor would ever treat me. It was hard for me to understand why a month ago, my eyes were perfectly healthy to now not even being good enough to fix and treat. I left and had to get an emergency appointment somewhere else, because i was made to believe by this place that my eyes were in a state of emergency to the point where I thought I would lose my vision. After my emergency appointment at a doctor's office out of state, my diagnosis was not anything like the one at Maryland Vision and I am no where near as bad off as Maryland Vision made it seem. At Maryland Vision, I was given no plan and no comfort to what I was experiencing. I was left wondering what in the world to do for my health. It was handled very poorly. I worked with them for 2 years to make my eyes healthy, spending a lot of money on treatments, to only be met with that there was nothing anyone would ever do for me for my eye health. It was very disappointing how I was treated.

The first appointment, they were at least kind enough to call me the morning of to say there wasn't any point in coming in because contacts were never ordered. The second appointment, they left us waiting for over 40 minutes PAST our appointment time to tell me they didn't order his contacts. Oh- but they could give us a lesser prescription if we wanted but his vision would be blurry, WHAT??? No thank you. Add to all this, that this whole ordeal has been going on for 12 weeks with at least a dozen of my voicemails never being returned.

Dr. Gladsden is a very pleasant man and does say upfront there is no guarantee of 20/20 vision and my vision was terrible with pop bottle glasses so I went ahead with the procedure/surgery. First, it was painless, hardly any recovery time. What they do not tell you is you lose your close-up vision and will definitely need glasses to read with, so it's a trade-off. I also have to use drops every day as my eyes are now dryer than they ever were before. The first couple of years out the vision was great but now is starting to fade. Think seriously before having your eye procedure completed. This is a good doctor, however, the hidden things are what one needs to be aware of.

The doctors don't have adequate staff to communicate with individuals of other languages. How their studies could not be bias towards white individuals as there are almost no other ethnicities. They make appointments for you they don't ask if you would prefer a different time or day.They don't have enough parking. The doctor has other locations but makes you drive all the way out to Hagerstown md. I really understand that they are moving but it is ignorant the way they treat study patients vs nonstudy. I really can't suggest this place or the location. They have one doctor worth seeing dr whorow. Any way we have to come to this location because of this damn study. I took my father for a yearly exam on 10/11/2024. He is 92 years old and has Parkinson's disease…read more He walks with a walker. I go to every appointment with him. I cannot believe the change in this office for the NEGATIVE within the period of a year. His doctor is Dr. Grove. He is a wonderful Christian man. That did not change. But for the 10 minutes that we were with him, it really was not worth the way we were treated by the other office staff. I believe sensitivity training is in order for how to speak to an elderly patient. The first technician was RUDE. When she spoke to my father there was no kindness. She was totally doing her job and that was it. When she attempted one test, she was so incompetent that she had to get 2 other employees to help her. Maybe if she would have used better directional words my dad could have understood the task. Instead, she rudely sighed, said "nope" out loud and went to get help. When the trio came back, I said "let's remember he's 92 and he has Parkinson's ". At that point, nurse #1 told me I could have a seat in the waiting area. I said "absolutely not. I'm staying right here". So, after that, I was targeted as the B and my father's treatment went further downhill. The girl who did his refraction never made eye contact with me and said not one word of encouragement or kindness to my father. I'm sure nurse #1 told her how terrible I was. I left this review in the hopes that anyone having an elderly parent/relative going to LEC for an appointment goes with them to protect them from the generation of workers who are there now. They are RUDE and do not care for the elderly. DO NOT GO HERE! I would have put 0 stars for this review if I could have!
