April 26 I had cataract surgery on my left eye. All went well with the procedure until Mothers Day morning. I had developed increased burning and itching of the eye so bright and early on that Sunday morning I called the Doc on call. Dr. Chad Teide was quick to respond to my call. I met Dr. Teide in the Hagerstown office and I was diagnosed with a scratched cornea on the eye that had the cataract removed. Dr. Chad was very attentive and caring over the next 3 weeks making sure the eye was healing and he also kept reassuring me that everything would be healed before my next eye surgery in June. I work in the health care field myself and know first hand how being on call can be and how the attitudes of some physcians are very lacking in bedside manner. Not Dr. Teide! From the start he has been kind and courteous and .professional. Dr. Chad is number 1 in my book. I also want to say that the other staff at Ludwick Eye Center are very caring and accommodating taking their time with you and helping to find solutions to problems when they arise. read more

I am so upset! I came from PA for my post op f/u that I was told was today at 9:05 to find out that it was scheduled for 7/1/26 at 11:05. The receptionist is not the least bit friendly or compassionate. It wasn't my fault that they gave me the incorrect info. I worked in Healthcare for years and if I had a patient that was given the wrong information, I would have apologized to the patient and fit them in. That is what being professional and giving good customer service is all about. read more

My mom was there for her pre-op tests for cataract surgery. They forgot to give one of the tests and called to tell her she had to come back. We scheduled to come back a week later. I called the morning of to confirm the appointment and ask how long it would take. I mentioned the time specifically. When we arrived on time for the appointment, we were told that the appointment was more than an hour earlier and we would have to wait more than an hour to be seen. It is a 45 minute commute each way. No courtesy reminders regarding appointments. Zero regard for the difficulty elderly patients face just in order to be at the appointments. Their customer service is atrocious. Every time I attempt to call Ludwick on different phone numbers, I was placed on indefinite hold. This morning, Wednesday, I attempted to call for 30 minutes starting at 9:15 AM to no avail. Ludwick's answering system put me on hold for 10 minutes, so I disconnected and tried another phone number and was put on hold again for awhile. So I disconnected and tried a 3rd phone number and was put on hold for a long time when finally, I heard what sounded like a phone ringing and thought I would talk to one of Ludwick's reps. Instead, the phone rang and rang and rang,.... This painful phone interaction has happened to me when I attempted to call Ludwick a few months ago. It's an obvious pattern; I find it disrespectful of my time to be put on indefinite hold and I will not tolerate it. I am going to copy this comment and post it on whatever social media I can find. Ludwick's physicians seem good, but your customer service is atrocious. read more

Got there early for my appointment. Another patient arrived. She stated she was early and the office staff agreed she was an hour early. Interestingly enough, one of the staff came out to the waiting room, acknowledged her in a friendly manner,and within a few minutes, her name was called. When I asked why she was taken back, I was told a slot opened up. This practice has gotten to the point of too many patients to handle efficiently. Have to wait months for an appointment. read more

not great care- had to point things out to the Dr she should have seen on her own- then given a sample of a rx eye drop and told that the specialty pharmacy that fills the med would contact me and when 2 weeks went by with no word from anyone I put a message through on the portal and went another 10 days with no response. When I called- someone in their call center said they would have a provider respond by the end of that day and guess what? no response. I called two days later and finally spoke to a manager who said she wasn't sure why nobody had responded to my portal message and that the Dr had never submitted the Rx in the 1st place following my appointment!!!! Here we are today more than a month from my appointment and I still do not have the medication- the specialty pharm said the Rx required a prior authorization and they had sent the paperwork and several reminders to the Dr's office who has never responded. SERIOUSLY WTF??? This crap level of care is just evidence of why I have to travel to Montgomery county and DC to get good care. I intend to get my Rx- which clearly I will have to take charge of myself and then I am moving on to another practice. Sorry this level of care is unacceptable. read more

I had cataract surgery in my right eye by Dr Weigel. It is amazing how clear my sight is now. Dr Weigel and his staff could not have been any more caring or kind to me. I thank them all so much for my sight. I am looking forward to having my left eye done in the near future. read more

I have been a patient of theirs for 7 years and love them. The staff has always been respectful and compassionate. Dr. Weigel is personable and professional. I have never had an issue, with either care or billing. read more
