Flew out of Frankfurt via Lufthansa Cityliner on the CRJ900 and it was a decent experience. Since I was transiting within the Schengen there was no security check, just a bus ride, a long walk underneath the terminal, and another elevator ride. As my incoming plane was delayed, our flight was slightly delayed. Counter agents walked by the departure gate to gate check carry-ons since the CRJ900 is a tiny plane. The inflight service consisted of a bottle of water, along with a piece of Lindt milk chocolate. There was no wifi for the 1 hour flight into Amsterdam. Cabin crew were available and seemed German. Once we landed in Amsterdam, we walked down the plane and walked back up to the terminal.

The boarding process and service on the flight earns 5 stars. It was the unboarding to a bus that packed us in like sardines that lowered the rating. Other than that, it was a very good flight from Kraków to Frankfurt. Everything went well from check-in to boarding at the airport. We were initially concerned that our carry-on luggage was too big. Lufthansa is usually very strict on size and weight. The young lady at the counter said it's not a full flight. All was good in the world from that point on. Thankfully she was right. She was also the same person who boarded us at the gate. I recalled a childhood memory while watching the flight attendant giving a child passenger a pin and some chocolate. The same thing happened to me when I was visiting my brother in Germany at the age of 12. I fondly remember receiving a chocolate egg with a miniature Lufthansa airplane inside of it. It was cool to see that they still do that today. It's the no frills type of Business Class seating that is standard on smaller aircraft. The middle seat is left unoccupied. Actually, there were a lot of open seats since the flight wasn't full. It made it more comfortable. We were served a light meal. We weren't expecting that. It was probably the best unexpected meal that I've ever had on an airplane. A Caprese burrata, fresh brötchen, and a Portuguese egg tart. The brötchen had a cheese topping. It was all very good. At the end of the flight, we were all given a mini sized Rizzati Ferrara Nocciola chocolate praline. It made my day. Honestly, I wish the US airlines would do something similar to set them apart. It's those little things that give lasting memories. The service was great! As I mentioned earlier, the schengen shuttle to Terminal 1 was a cluster. That was the only thing that dampened the experience. It's Frankfurt Airport. What can I say?

LUFTHANSA- Lisbon vacation was really great especially because we flew Lufthansa! Our flights were really smooth and on time . We flew from San Francisco to Frankfurt to Lisbon and then back . German engineering is definitely the best and we were treated very well. Discovered some German Rose that was really good too. Movie and Music selection was amazing ! And customer service was top tier . Look forward to our next flight !! Danke shun Lufthansa!!

Enjoyed the flights. Everything went smoothly and been awhile since I flew with this airline. Great service from checkin (used app but need to shown passport for international flight), to gate agents to flight attendants. Everything on time or even depart earlier. Foods are so so, didn't eat but saw them next to me. Overall well flights.

We spent over $2,000 on tickets with Lufthansa for the most important trip of our lives--our honeymoon--and they managed to damage not just our luggage, but the entire experience. Our suitcase didn't arrive "damaged." It arrived destroyed--like it had been dragged across a runway or run over by equipment. The shell was torn apart, deeply gouged, and covered in grime. Inside? Clothes crushed and stained, gifts ruined, and items missing entirely. Let that sink in. But somehow, the worst part wasn't even the destruction--it was what came after. We spent over 3 hours trying to get help, both on the phone and in person, only to be: Passed from one department to another Given completely different answers Sent in circles over and over Every single interaction felt the same: No ownership. No urgency. No real help. Just people who either didn't know what they were doing--or didn't care enough to figure it out. At some point, it stops feeling like disorganization and starts feeling like a system designed to wear you down until you give up. Imagine arriving for your honeymoon after 12+ hours of travel, only to deal with destroyed belongings, missing items, and hours of being bounced around like your situation doesn't matter. That's the reality of this experience. We've filed a formal claim and EVEN AFTER ONE MONTH have yet to hear back from an actual person to resolve our issue. For a $2,000+ trip, for a once-in-a-lifetime moment--this level of negligence and complete lack of accountability is unacceptable.

Lufthansa (Deutsche Lufthansa AG) is the flag carrier of Germany. Initially called "Aktiengesellschaft für Luftverkehrsbedarf", or "Luftag", Lufthansa was founded in 1953 and beginning operations in 1955, Lufthansa is Germany's largest airline and the second largest in Europe by passenger count. When combined with its subsidiaries, Lufthansa is the largest airline in Europe by fleet size and passengers carried, and the fourth largest in the world by revenue. Lufthansa has 267 airplanes registered under their name. It's comparable to Emirates in terms of size which operates 245 wide-body air carriers and makes it one of the biggest airlines in the world. Lufthansa has hubs in Frankfurt am Main and Munich, Germany, and flies to over 80 countries. The airline also has codeshare partnerships with other airlines, which allows passengers to access more destinations and departure times. Lufthansa's subsidiaries include Austrian Airlines, Swiss Air, Brussels Airlines, and "Eurowings". Lufthansa is a founding member of Star Alliance, the world's largest airline alliance, which was formed in 1997. The airline also has a frequent-flyer program called Miles & More, which has over 27 million members. Lufthansa is known for it's reliability. My numerous experiences flying Lufthansa have all been good in general, with the quality of of food, service, comfort and amenities being commiserate with the Class and the Distance of my flight. Although both Business & First Class are quite pricy, luckily I was an independent contractor for airline special events and often reduced my fee in exchange for some excellent RT tickets for myself and a companion. The First Class Lounge at the Frankfurt International Airport is one of the best in Europe.

We had a great experience flying Lufthansa out of Frankfurt. Our seats were in Business Class, and although they did not have the fully reclining seat pods like United, the service was top-notch. We were treated very well all throughout the flight, with constant snacks and refreshments. The inflight announcements were spoken in both German and English. The attendants were very friendly. We had on-time boarding and arrived pretty much as scheduled. It was very comfortable and we were refreshed upon arriving at our destination. Danke!

Lufthansa currently serves 229 destinations worldwide across 901 routes in 81 countries. Traveling with Lufthansa offers a consistently reliable experience. Even when passengers arrive at the airport tired and stressed from last-minute preparations, the staff remain calm, polite, and professional -- a quality that deserves praise. Check-in is smooth, with online options that save time and reduce queues. Boarding is generally well-organized, though occasional delays on the jet bridge can test patience, softened by the crew's welcoming smiles. Economy seating provides adequate comfort and legroom, meeting expectations for long-haul travel. Meal service is satisfactory, with special orders such as vegetarian or Asian vegetarian options standing out for their quality when requested in advance. Flight attendants are attentive and courteous, responding promptly to passenger needs and maintaining a warm atmosphere throughout the journey. Operationally, Lufthansa excels in punctuality, safety, and efficiency. Baggage delivery is quick, and arrivals are usually smooth. The airline's extensive route network and transparent pricing make it easy to plan trips without hidden costs. Fares are generally reasonable, offering good value for the service provided. Overall, Lufthansa balances comfort, professionalism, and reliability, making it a strong choice for both leisure and business travelers. For connections, Frankfurt Airport remains a favorite hub, combining efficiency with excellent facilities.

My review for Lufthansa needed to be revisited. I was a little harder on them a decade ago. Things have changed, specifically as it concerns my experiences with them. In short, all the goings-on in the cabin are much improved, both on long-haul flights on twin aisle heavies and shorter flights. I have flown Lufthansa, mostly booking with United, their main Star Alliance partner, and have crossed the Atlantic and connected in Germany to Southern Europe. In doing so and paying attention to the routing, I've flown on their two 747 variants and their Airbus A340-600. What I'm seeing is that the service is more affable, albeit still a little formal. They continue to be strict about two things. First, they don't want you walking around toward other classes of service, such as to pass through for a restroom. Second, if the plane starts to bounce around, they want you seated and, if someone does get up, even to use the restroom, they let them know that they need to sit down. It has gone from stern to prescriptive. As for the food in economy, every meal I've had on transatlantic flights has been very good for what it is and they give you a choice of two entrees. On this last flight, it was pasta or chicken. If you don't find it on the monitor, you may have to ask about the preparation. I was hungry for some chicken, or beef, but when told about its preparation with curry, I ran to the pasta as quickly as I could. The pasta was actually lasagna and it was tasty. Please do not serve meals with curry or other polarizing spices. In-flight monitor selections are ample. I struggle to watch movies during a flight, so I entertain myself with factoids found on the flight maps. I try to sleep but, in smaller seats, usually can't. I don't ask for much, except for two drinks at the same time - a soft drink and cold water, or tea and juice when they have the coffee service. I also like to get up and stretch my legs. I connect onto or from Lufthansa using United. I had one excellent flight from BOS to FRA, which left and arrived early. The very capable Airbus 340-600 hurtled down the tarmac and rotated effortlessly. It was also a comfortable trip. However, my best recent flight was aboard their 747-400 from FRA to IAH-Bush. I was sitting by the window in the penultimate duet and a lady came and sat in the aisle seat. I couldn't figure out where she was from, so we didn't speak. She proceeded to spread this windbreaker onto my side of the armrest with no qualms about invading my space. With her salt and pepper bun and disheveled apparel, she could have been from a hamlet in Bohemia, thus connecting in Frankfurt, or she could have been going back to New Braunfels or some commune outside of Austin. I could be totally off. The last duets behind me were empty. I looked back in despair and caught a flight attendant's eye. He gave me a quick tilt of his head as if to say, 'Go ahead and move ... it's fine.' I did. I took the window duet behind me. In looking through the crack between the seats, this lady was all over the place! That included removing her shoes, and this was someone you wouldn't want removing their shoes. Again, the -400 provided a smooth flight in clear and serene skies, the trip was slightly shorter than scheduled, the food was good, and, with some empty seats, the crew was very pleasant. There's less opportunity to sample Lufthansa on connecting flights down to Southern Europe, but they are much the same. While not fed a meal, they hand out chocolates and they're by Lindt, so it's good stuff. Lufthansa flies to many North American airports and, in the U.S., they also serve gateways that are not United hubs - Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Detroit, Miami, and others. In Canada, they serve Air Canada hubs like Montreal and Toronto but also go to Vancouver. They have a fleet featuring both Boeing and Airbus products and their logistics dictate if they base them at FRA or at MUC. While Northwest (absorbed by Delta) was the launch customer for the 747-400, Lufthansa is proudly the launch customer for the 747-800. When I've seen some of the sternness on yesteryear's flights, I thought of Irma Bunt! To me and some of my friends, she was among the most colorful of James Bond's adversaries and we knew many of the good lines. Now, with newer attendants, a broader mix of ethnicities and gender, and more senior attendants who have mellowed or been sent to charm school, cabin service is markedly improved. You also sense Lufthansa's exacting style. Even in making announcements, pilots provide more detail and do so in better English than their Southern European counterparts. Clearly, the idea here is to move Lufthansa from 3 to 4 stars. They can be a little expensive but sometimes come through with good fares within Europe and even some long-haul specials. In English, I can go with 4 words for 4 stars: IRMA BUNT NO MORE In German, I can go with these words: LUFTHANSA IST SEHR GUT

The attendants were always available and helpful. Service was excellent. On time arrival!
Our United flight was delayed and we missed our final connecting flight to Milan. United had booked us on the next flight out but there was communication confusion. But it all worked out. Staff was friendly and helpful but all business. read more

Two 73 year old women flew to Europe last month and you lost their luggage for 12 DAYS. They have contacted you three times and only to get a generic response that they will not be taken care of. You do NOTHING!! What a horrible horrible way to treat customers especially older ones. First a runaround, then you couldn't find a record, then you keep saying it's not "damaged" when the issue is LOST not damaged luggage. Very disappointing. Flew many times on your airline and always thought it was good. How can you treat older people like that?? read more

I've never felt so cramped in the economy section of a 787. Our flight was delayed by about 15 minutes, and they made no adjustments for those of us with connecting flights. We were out of luck and stuck for hours for the next available flight. And trying to find that next available flight? Every employee we asked sent us to a different location for customer service, and the first 3 locations were shuttered. To get to an open customer service station, we had to go through a painfully slow and understaffed bag check. Such disorganization! Bottom line: I won't use this airline again. read more

Lufthansa's "tickets with free change" gimmick is deceptive marketing. When we wanted to our change our flight, we had to pay several hundred dollars extra, even though the price shown on the web site was smaller than what we originally paid. The web site doesn't work for changing flights too (we are software engineers and no, it wasn't any of the 3 web browsers we tried). It turns out that Lufthansa doesn't apply the total amount we paid, but does it per flight. The flight there became $150 more expensive, while the flight back became $200 less expensive. So we had to pay $150 more for the flight there while loosing $200 for the flight back. Net result: we had to pay to change our flights while the new total price was smaller than we originally paid. That is a fee! read more

Pre-pandemic, I flew LH to and around Europe regularly. First trip to Europe post pandemic and LH has been one failure after another. Disorganized and a complete lack of customer service. Flights canceled and delayed; stranded in Frankfurt without luggage; service agent could care less; et cetera. LH customer service is too dimwitted to be slightly conciliatory or proactively offer some recompense. We have to collect receipts to submit after the fact in hopes to be reimbursed. Likely last trip with these arrogant asshats. read more

I have had my worst travel experience with Lufthansa. First we had to wait 5hours for a 55 minute flight from Munich to Zurich. The staff didn't know why there is a delay. When we finally reached Zurich all out Luggage was lost. We filed a claim and bought the urgent stuff we needed to manage 13days in Europe in sub zero temperatures. It has been 20 days since our baggage was lost, we try calling Lufthansa every day, but haven't been successful in connecting to a human. We haven't received any response about our claim. We don't know how to get reimbursed for the stuff we had to purchase in Zurich due to lost baggage. I do not recommend flying with Lufthansa. read more
Going to Frankfurt to Rome and back was "smooth". But there were uncomfortable seats, and it seemed the luggage arrivals took over 2 hours. All other baggage claim arrivals from other airlines were on time. So I wasn't just thinking "it's just the airport". The flight attendants were professional and I don't have ANY issues with the service ON the plane, just off. I would suggest bring a carry on. read more
Frankfurt FlugZeug! This is the national airline of Germany, doing it German style. When I flew through Frankfurt on Lufthansa, they put us on a pretty small plane, and we were delayed about an hour due to fog. I guess I can't blame Lufthansa for that. But the flight crew was good about keeping us informed in English and in German as to what the situation was. They offered soda and drinks, like any other flight, along with a sandwich. Der nom. I flew in to Frankfurt with Lufthansa from Houston, on to Budapest, all on Lufthansa. I was less than impressed with the goodies you get on a Lufthansa flight- other airlines offer masks, slippers, etc. when you fly internationally or transatlantic, but from Lufthansa- nein! The planes were clean, the lavatories were adequate. I got to my destination safely with all my luggage. No news is good news on a flight. read more

Extremely disappointed the flights were cancelled and I was forced to agree to terms when I rebooked I was promised enough room for all my booking and when there wasn't room and I wanted a different flight I couldn't change anymore since I agreed to the terms- part of the term I agreed with was that there's enough room Further more one of the booking ended up in a different airport but since I agreed they don't need to cover transportation When I called to try to rebook they kept claiming there's no manager and hung up on me read more
We had a great experience with Lufthansa. Service was great as well as the prices because we got my ticket kind of last minute. They arranged our seats together without charging any extra fee. For an hour and twenty minutes of flight, they still gave us a sandwich and drinks to all. Which nowadays you don't see with others. read more

Terrible customer service. I tried checking-in for my flight as early as possible, but the app and web would throw an error "try again later". I called customer support and they cannot help me, try again later, or the next day in-person. Tried a few more times, 3 hrs before the flight still nothing. LH personnel at the airport sent me to automated kiosk. In the end we got boarding passes for mid-seats 20 rows apart, and boarding group 5. Asking another LH rep at the gate - they cannot find better seats, flight's full. And no, they cannot let us board earlier either. This on a $1800 a person round trip, not some low cost hop. We've received similar warm welcome a year ago, if I can help it there won't be a next time! read more

This airline used to be the crème de la crème back in the day. Now they may be the worst. TWO DELAYED FLIGHTS, lame TSA at the Frankfurt airport. Nobody knows how to do their job anymore. Had to sprint to my gate ate the far side of the airport due to a delay on our previous flight (lufthansa), only to get on a bus and drive out onto the tarmac and board using Stairs like we are in the 50s So much for German engineering and the "trains running on time" thing. Lufthansa is a perfect partner for United - they both suck. Terrible read more

The most incompetent airline I have ever experienced. They will lie to you to make a phone call go smoothly ( that's if they don't hang on on you!) They don't communicate with each other ( despite asking them to ensure case notes are recorded each time a phone call is had,) they make false promises, and try to blame everything on the customer when everything goes wrong. They screwed us over - we ended up out of pocket and without flights. When I would ask staff about why their other staff members have previously told me certain things ie - "yes your flight is confirmed" ( it never was) and "yes that will be no extra cost" (not true) they will say " no comment." I cannot explain the disgust I have in this company and how they have treated me. STAY CLEAR. ESPECIALLY- DO NOT EVER BOOK LUFTHUNSA/UNITED AIRLINES combination flight. Absolute failure of a system. read more

Well I'll join the long list of people complaining that their customer service is HORRIBLE and they don't value their customers and don't take customer complaints seriously - good luck ever getting them to fairly compensate you for their mistakes. Not to mention they are always obnoxious. So my story is I paid for an upgrade on a long haul flight. However the seat I was assigned was broken and had none of the amenities that I had paid for. This was a very expensive upgrade. I expected to be refunded for the upgrade. That never happened despite hours wasted on my end complaining to them. Beware if you fly and don't expect them to honor what they sell to you. read more

Do yourself a favor and book with a different airline. I am a premier platinum with United, traveling weekly for work. I booked a business ticket for an international trip with United. In Europe I had to choose the code sharing airlines. After 10 years of not using Lufthansa for low quality of services, I made the mistake of giving them another chance. First I wasn't able to pick my seats for the two segments with Lufthansa. United customer service cannot do it, so they transferred me to Lufthansa's customer service. The customer service told me the plane doesn't have business or first and charged me an extra $35 per segment to secure a seat on the flights. Once in London, about to board to Frankfurt, I asked the customer service on site to fix the situation (paid for a business ticket and was forced to fly economy). In London I was told that they cannot do anything about it, and they advised me to speak with the customer service in Frankfurt. In Frankfurt, big surprise, I encountered an even worse experience. Mr. Naji, the agent on site, shrugged his shoulder, told me he cannot see what I booked. To my discontent he continued to tell me, well you are booked and he was only doing re bookings (I was asking him to rebook). When asked for a supervisor, he raised his voice, started to gaslight me by saying that I am not listening and finished by saying "I am not going to do anything about it." The plane for the first segment was dirty and smelly. The Frankfurt airport is poorly maintained and disorganized (long lines of people having to rebook because the connecting buses are not arriving in time and when they arrive, the drivers giggle and chit chat instead of taking the next trip). I am writing this because my calls to customer services had no resolution and I hope to help others from paying for a service that was never delivered. read more

Lufthansa customer service leaves much to be desired. I flew from Frankfort to Istanbul business class, and my bags apparently didn't. I had to buy clothes, makeup, etc. In my customer service complaint I itemized my purchases (in Turkish Lira) and provided the dollar equivalent with the exchange rate in effect the day of the flight. Receipts were included. Apparently customer service had a problem with the receipts being in Turkish and denominated in Lira. They denied any compensation. FB ID 38450560 read more

This is one well managed airline . I've never flown them across the pond , but have flown the between European countries . Their short haul business class has an amazing soft product , during the pandemic they continued to serve food on dishes and wine in a glass. You also get lounge access. The hard product is nothing to write home about. It's the same seats in economy with a guarantee empty middle seat . Long haul flight you get a lie flat seat . The Frankfurt airport is my favorite European airport to make a connection. I always fly United into Frankfurt which is also a star alliance member. I do plan trying their trans Atlantic business class and premium economy, once I do I will update my review. read more
An airline that makes Italian espresso for me while I'm flying is more than OK with me! Five stars for the win! Lilly coffee from Italy may not be the highest of the high end but oh my gosh, it's better than Folger's or any other American mass-produced coffee swill. Yes, I'm a coffee snob but I know what I like. I like an espresso with a nice crema and a wonderfully complex coffee taste that I can savor and enjoy. Thanks Lufthansa! read more

The WORST experience EVER. Our flight from Los Angeles to Frankfurt was good and the flight attendants were excellent, even though we left one hour late. The problem was when we got to Frankfurt. Our gate was changed THREE TIMES. We boarded ONE HOUR LATE, then they decided they were going to check in most of the carry on luggage. They started by weighing it, anything over 10kgs HAD TO BE CHECKED IN. Mine was 10.3 kg . I explained that I couldn't check in because I had very expensive items there and, because I hadn't planned to check in, I didn't have a lock for it. They STILL MADE CHECK IT IN! This is a TERRIBLE AIRLINE, Save yourself the aggravation and fly Swiss Air, they CAN NOT be worse! read more
The cabin service is decent. However, the customer service is awful. I am not at all surprised that United and Lufthansa partner with one another because they are both awful airlines...can't have one outdoing the other. There's no chance of that with these 2. Anyway, I was having trouble with online check-in. I was redirected twice, only to be told that I have to now check in at the airport. The initially representative gave me contact info for a customer service line that is only operational M-F. I called on Saturday. Incompetence all around. I'll know not to fly this airline in the future. read more

ATTENTION- ACHTUNG! Maybe the worst company in the world . A flight from greece, accept airwheel smart luggage in cabin which have detachable power ( power bank) which is in normal levels 73 Wh instead of 100 on most cases. i have travel all over the world without issues with this luggages with various airlines when i land to frankfurt to switch airplane to hannover with the same airline, at the front desk a neo nazzi style woman employee ( fun name Helga) told that this kind of luggage is not accepted not even in cargo. I responded that i will remove the detachable battery and she replies :NEIN! Is equipped with wheels also. Which drives me mad as the 100% of the luggage's planet are equipped with guess what..??? WHEELS!!!! Also they ask money for food for 4 hours flight. Unacceptable in 2025 . For this reason germans are well known cheapers. Lufthansa never again even if the world comes to an end and this is my last flight for salvation. read more

When I contacted the baggage tracing service over the phone, they told me it was the couriers' fault and they can't control that service, the shocking lack of accountability from every single member of Lufthansa staff at every stage has been laughable. The courier was provided the address by Lufthansa. Despite the man I was speaking to on this call confirming my details and having my correct address... you still managed to send my case to an entirely incorrect address. I now have to replace the items of luggage that I'll continue to not have, these I will also be invoicing Lufthansa for. Finally, I've left the best and most horrendous issue for last... in this absolute catastrophic joke that Lufthansa call customer support and service, is that to this day I still haven't heard from Lufthansa about a replacement flight to get me home. According to your flight passenger records, I am still sat in a hotel in Munich waiting to hear from you about a replacement flight. 9 DAYS LATER. I've had ZERO contact, not 1 email, not 1 message, not 1 phone call, not a single offer of any alternative flight, you've literally just abandoned me in Munich and despite this you expect to not compensate me for a brand new (more expensive) flight than the original I had booked with you; and the amount of money I've had to spend on hotels, food and travel whilst being abandoned here for this length of time!? Your 'service' from start to finish has been utterly atrocious, absolutely diabolical. I expect your reply to include the entire compensation for the absolute amount of money that I have had to spend through no fault of my own, through your incompetence with my luggage and your total lack of contact to get me back to my final destination. Nothing but cyborg generated macro responses, no real human even reads the emails, the expenses etc. DISGRACEFUL and should be investigated by the CAA. read more

I recently had the unfortunate experience of flying with Lufthansa, and it turned out to be a trip I would rather forget. From the moment I stepped off the plane, it was evident that my journey with Lufthansa was going to be a nightmare, and it all revolved around one crucial aspect: my lost luggage. Upon arrival at my destination, I eagerly awaited the carousel to see my suitcase emerge, but it never did. I immediately approached Lufthansa's baggage claim counter, where I was met with a dismissive attitude from the staff. It seemed like they were accustomed to dealing with such issues, which should have been a red flag in itself. After completing a lost luggage report, I was given a generic assurance that my bag would be located and delivered to my accommodation within 24 hours. The promised 24 hours came and went, and there was no sign of my luggage. I tried contacting Lufthansa's customer service numerous times, and when I did manage to get through, I was met with unhelpful and rude representatives who seemed more interested in ending the call than assisting me. As my trip continued without my personal belongings, I was forced to spend extra money on purchasing essential items like clothing and toiletries. This unexpected expense, combined with the inconvenience of not having my belongings, made my trip a stressful and miserable experience. I still have yet to receive my luggage from Lufthansa, last time I checked in, it was supposed to be in Toronto, but this could be a complete lie, seeing has for a month they told me my luggage was in Split and it was in Munich. I am starting to believe that Lufthansa has no idea where my baggage is or where it ever was. On top of having no idea where my baggage is, there has been no talk of compensation for the money spent on vacation as well as the money spent on clothing since I have arrived back. In summary, my experience with Lufthansa was marred by the loss of my luggage, poor customer service, and a lack of accountability on their part. I would strongly advise anyone considering flying with Lufthansa to think twice and weigh the potential consequences of their abysmal service. Losing luggage can happen to any airline, but the way Lufthansa continues to handle the situation leaves me feeling frustrated, disheartened, and utterly disappointed. read more
Here's one bit of helpful travel advice: When flying to Europe and coming back to the USA, try to avoid using an American Carrier. That's assuming that you're traveling on a Legacy airline and not one of the discount carriers. Gayle and I recently ended a wonderful 2-Week Holiday in Spain and used Lufthansa on both the SFO to Frankfurt and FRA to Madrid legs. We were also on Lufthansa from Barcelona to Frankfurt, but then ended up on United for the final leg home. For example, our Coach seat on Portugal's TAP Airlines (coming back from Lisbon) was in many ways a nicer experience than flying Business Class from Philadelphia to Lisbon on US Air. Gayle and I also found the Europe-based Lufthansa flights offered good service, decent food and beverages, and an otherwise comfortable experience. At the same time, we're not huge fans of the Frankfurt Airport, of which walks can be long, signage can be confusing, and getting help can sometimes be "endearing". Lufthansa has the worst seat reservation system I've experienced with any airline. Apparently having a "confirmed" seat means nothing with this airline. Booked seats from NY to Croatia through Munich. Seats constantly disappeared from my reservation despite multiple calls to "customer service". Got a different story from every rep and assurances that things were sorted out (they never were). Ended up paying twice for a seat in premium economy from JFK to Munich just to ensure I actually had a place to sit on the plane. They are totally incompetent, blame the customer for their mistakes, will lie to you just to get you off the phone, are rude, interrupt you and hang up on you, refuse to give you an employee ID # or let you speak with a supervisor. Based on other reviews I've read my experience is far from unique. read more

Never again Lufthansa. AND I am for sure spreading the word! 1, Last summer (2023) traveling to the USA Lufthansa lost my luggage and it didnt turn up until 5 days later! It was a huge stress and hours on the phone! 2, Last autumn I got sick, had a fully refundable ticket and sent in my medical certificate after staying in the hospital for one week! Somehow they managed to not answer me for 2-3 months and when finally answering me it was simply denied and a ticket for over $1100 was just cancelled and money lost! Never an explanation and horrible costumer service. 3, This summer I traveled again, thinking I will give them one more shot... they again lost my luggage and when finally found and sent home to me, my super-expensive Samsonite bag had a big dent and damage to it. I have now sent in to get my bag reimbursed and I am crossing my fingers I will get it. I am so unhappy and I will never use this company again! read more

I used to love this airline and fly LH all the time. What's happened to you, Lufthansa?? The most horrendous customer service, full of misleading information, dishonest ticketing practices, and no result, in over 6 months! Needed to rebook parents' flights due to my father's medical emergency back in June... called a zillion times, phones constantly disconnecting, three times spoke to a different rep who rebooked for me, three times supposedly booking was confirmed, but then the booking code disappeared from the LH website... I'm beyond appalled!!! What a scam this airline has become!! I kept calling 1800 645 3880, the USA phone number. For weeks, even months, the voice message would say that the lines were busy and to call later. I finally got my call answered in November. I explained the whole situation, and got disconnected. I tried the second time. The second rep assisted, I explained the whole situation, and got disconnected. Five times in a row! This cannot be normal. At one point, I asked the rep whether they were having issues with phones, and she responded yes, but they are being worked on. But I called on other days, too, and it was the same. I got disconnected every time I got a rep on the phone. Is this a tactic by Lufthansa to keep disgruntled customers away??? Basically you can't get anything solved, since you get disconnected every time!! And I repeat, EVERY TIME!!! Over a span of two weeks, I called the US phone number about 10 times, and got disconnected every time, after I explained to the rep what I needed. Is this normal?? So I called the German phone number +49 - 69 - 86 799 799, on December 5, 2022. The rep reviewed the files and offered to rebook my parents' tickets. We spend over an hour on the phone (and got a message from AT&T phone company that I just got charged $200 for the long distance call). The rep gives me a new booking code. She took my credit card number and said I would be charged $41.23 for tax, and $150 for rebooking, for either of my parents. I agreed to these terms. The rep gave me the new booking code. I checked on the website, and the code was on the LH booking site. Two days later I checked again, and the code was no longer there. I called +49 - 69 - 86 799 799 again. Asked a different rep why the code disappeared from the LH website. The rep checked, and said it was because those flights were no longer available (nobody let me know that! Imagine my parents going to the airport on the day of, and find no seats on the plane!). She offered to rebook to 'available' dates. Took my credit card information, told me that I would be charged $41.27 for either parent, the booking code would stay the same, and now we're supposedly confirmed. I received an email from Lufthansa with confirmation. However, the email also said to "Please call back your Lufthansa Service Center". I smelled a problem again!! I called Lufthansa, spoke to a rep, who checked the booking, and she assured me that everything was in order. I also checked the website, and the booking showed. Two days later, IT DISAPPEARED AGAIN! I tried for the last time, on December 21, 2022. The LH rep said that the previous booking didn't go for ticketing (no explanation provided!). I said this would be my last time attempting to rebook the two flights; if I'm not successful, I will file a complaint with Better Business Bureau, and the Department of Transportation, and will take legal action. The rep said the booking would be done. Again, he took my credit card, and said the two tickets would cost $382.46 - $150 for rebooking, and $41.23 for tax, for each ticket. Which, again, is a different story from what the previous reps told me. The rep said that I would receive an email with confirmation. Which, as I anticipated, never came. Around $2,500 wasted. read more

Never ever fly Lufthansa. They confirmed my booking change by sending me an email that booking was "Confirmed". However, I could not select my seat so I called customer service. They said a ticket hasn't been issued yet (this is an internal task that has nothing to do with me), but will be in a few days. Apparently, "confirmed" doesn't mean anything to lufthansa. Two weeks later and afterseveral phone calls either they couldn't help, or refused to help. I had 2 customer service reps that were very rude, refused to listen, talked over me, and had no interest in my situation. When I called back, they actually hung up on me twice. What a terrible company! read more
Overall not impressed on how this airlines ran their operation. With them being apart of Star Alliance, I would have thought they would be on par, but they aren't. Our flight got cancelled on a stopover from Frankfurt to Rome. Lufthansa didn't give us good answers on why and just scheduled us for the next available flight. When we tried to gather more information, the gate agents were really rude and just said that they are to busy because they need to help out other flights. read more

When everything works, the service aboard aircraft is OK. When things go wrong, poor customer service does not accurately describe the experience with the Service Center staff online and via phone (they have no e-mail). They are trained to give no useful information other than confirming booking data, and are actively trained to hang up on you if you want to have a real conversation or ask for a supervisor (they may not exist). Their English is exceptionally rude, too. Their attitude is inexplicable for a customer service setting. They only act as a deterrent to contact, after waiting hours to get them on the phone. They are trained to confirm something/anything, even if it is a blatant error, even if they are demonstrably wrong. So you can't get anything resolved. They have a feedback form at customer.relations@lufthansa.com, but this is not an escalation path, it is really just a form which collects and acknowledges feedback. read more

Terrible customer service. I upgraded to business class and my card was successfully charged only to find out at the airport that my upgrade didn't go through. After more than 1 hour with their customer service department, no explanation was provided, and they were only able to offer a refund. I'll never flying them again that's for certain. read more

Very nice service, I flew from MUC to KRK on student exchange. First of all, the legroom was great (1 inch of free space at 6' 1''/183cm), the recline also exceeded the quality of other airlines, even though it was a short hop. The flight was delayed by 10 minutes which isn't so bad. Although there was heavy turbulence the crew was able to fly the plane very smoothly and land somewhat okay. The flight attendants were very nice, funny and helpful, there was free water and chocolate. At the end of the flight I felt refreshed instead of exhausted (I was in the middle seat) and one flight attendant gave us the rest of all the chocolate bars, which was a boatload. Very good service, clean cabin and the seats had leather on them, in ECONOMY CLASS! I never saw something so good! I recommend Lufthansa over most of European airlines and the flight are reasonably-priced. read more

We travelled on Lufthansa Airlines in September on our trip from Austin to Naples, Italy. Our flight from Austin to Frankfurt Germany was delayed and so we arrived about 45 minutes behind schedule and it only left us 20 minutes to make our connecting flight. We ran out of airplane in hopes of making our connecting flight and noticed that the majority of the other travelers were running through the airport as well. After running for about 15, we arrived at a security check point with about 100 people in front of us. Needless to say we missed our flight and we're rescheduled automatically by Lufthansa airlines on a much later flight which was delayed multiple times. Our original arrival time to Naples,Italy was supposed to be 12 pm and we didn't get there until 12:30 am. read more

Hands down the WORST airline experience I have ever had. Absolutely despicable customer service over and over again. Canceled flight with no warning and no offer to refund what I paid for it. Customer service is still giving me the run around THREE WEEKS later. ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIC. Will NEVER FLY with these jerks again and will make sure every single person I come in contact with that travels will hear my story. These people should not be allowed to operate a business. The short truth is that Lufthansa genuinely does not care about its customers and their experience. They will take your money, keep it when you do not get the service and will treat you like a less-than-human the whole time. Traveling is stressful enough. Learn from my mistakes and do not choose to fly with this airline. This is the detailed version of what happened: I had a business trip booked taking me from SFO to Frankfurt and then on to Verona. Because of a co-workers diligence in checking on things we found out that my second flight had been canceled due to the strikes. Lufthansa gave me NO notification of this. Thank god for the diligence of my co-worker. When I arrived to SFO to check in for the first leg of my journey I went to the counter to see what could be done about the canceled flight. Despite my pleasant attitude when I approached the desk (I understand strikes, I have a lot of European friends) I was received by the most horrible woman I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. She told me she could help me with nothing and I had to call to re-book. I let her know that I had been trying to call since I woke up and that the lines were so busy they would not even ring through. She had no response to that and just stood there glaring at me. When I realized I was going to get nowhere on that issue I moved on to my second question about possibly paying to upgrade to a slightly better seat on my first flight. She replied in the snottiest tone possible "Yeah, for $900 dollars." At that point I just gathered up my things, said thank you and walked away. That woman alone was enough for me to never want to deal with this airline again. It would be one thing if I was unpleasant when I approached her, but I was not. I have worked in customer service a lot and I know that these people have no control over these situations and are just the messengers. They do have control over their attitudes though! I never was able to get through to re-book anything and ended up buying a $275 train ticket and taking 9 hours of train rides to get to my destination, replacing my 1 hour flight. Once I was at my destination I borrowed the phone of a co-worker that had a good international plan and called to see what would be done about issuing me a refund, etc. A VERY rude person answered and told me I had to email customer relations. Ok. I emailed. I heard nothing. Seven days later I followed up, only to get a reply that proved the agent writing had not even read my initial request of a few lines. I wrote back to clarify. Days. Again, a reply not answering my question. I clarified. Days. Another email, this time about my return trip and how I am in the wrong because they booked a hotel for me, etc. for my messed up journey back. (Oh, did I mention they completely messed up my return trip in the mean time and I was stuck in Germany for 17 hours?!) I wrote back again to clarify that I was not talking about my return trip, but as my initial inquiry clearly stated was asking about my trip going over and being refunded for a flight they canceled. I am STILL WAITING. Other fun notes: -$35 to be able to select a seat? Come on! -Delayed flights first thing in the morning -Very expensive flights for horrible service -Terrible customer service when my Father called to find out the status of my flight when the Lufthansa website did not update. Given that they had just lost a plane in a crash and everyone perished you would think they would have at least been more helpful in that moment. Nope! Shame on you Lufthansa. read more

To: Carsten Spohr CEO Von-Gablenz-Straße 2-6 50679 Köln, Germany Dear Mr. Spohr, On July 3, 2016, I sent the first letter by email to you, Mr. Carsten Spohr, CEO of Lufthansa. In this letter I asked you to make sure that my return ticket to ... is not cancelled because I was not able to return to ... on March 30, 2016 because of my medical condition. Currently I am still in rehabilitation in two hospitals here in Toronto, Canada in order to recover from my brain injury and brain operation that followed. For some unexplainable reason, the response that came from you indicated that you could not find my name in the passengers' list of the flights I took with your airline even though I have provided you with my full first and last name, the flights dates, and the flights numbers. I must say that in this time of terrorism, it is worrisome that you were not able to find me in the list of the passengers. Today (July 22, 2016) at 5:00pm I called the Lufthansa Reservations Centre of Peterborough Ontario Canada. The phone number I called was 1-800-563-5954 and I spoke with ... (agent sign: ..., location call centre: ...). I gave him my full first and last name, the flights dates, and the flights numbers. I asked him to give me my flight ticket number based on the information that I provided him. He could not find my name in the passenger lists of these flights. He was able to find out that I have been on these flights only after I actually provided him with my ticket number. Lufthansa is the largest airline in Europe. It is truly very disturbing to find out that safety concerns are not on the top of the list of Lufthansa. In addition, there was a delay of the flight from Frankfurt to Toronto due to mechanical problems with the airplane. I had to stay overnight in Frankfurt before continuing my journey to Toronto while I was after brain injury and in need of medical attention. In addition, when I called the Lufthansa Reservations Centre of Peterborough Ontario Canada before my return flight to ... which was scheduled for March 30, 2016, they were rude when I asked them to postpone my flight back to ... because all my doctors in Canada advised me to continue with treatment for rehabilitation before I return to ... I did not have the strength at the time to argue with the people of Lufthansa Reservations Centre. In addition, after a few reminders from me by email, you responded to my request by asking me for information stating that you could not find me in the passengers list of flight ... that left ... to Frankfurt on February 23, 2016 and you could not find my name on the passenger list of the flight that left to Toronto from Frankfurt. You asked me to provide you with my ticket number or the reservation code. On July 15, 2016 I sent you my Lufthansa itinerary which includes the booking reference and the ticket number and my boarding ticket from Frankfurt to Toronto which includes the ticket number. I have not heard from you yet despite the fact that I have sent you several reminders. In addition, as I have stated previously in my two letters to you, I will provide you with all necessary medical documentation from my doctors in Canada and in ... I think that any other airline would have postponed my flight due to my serious medical condition and given all the difficulties that your airline has caused me, I would expect a compensation too. I look forward to your response soon. Yours truly, I received a response from Lufthansa a month later saying that I have to pay $600 for my return (the round trip ticket cost me $700). I will take them to court. read more

The official 'customer service **Lufthansa** (toll-free) number is **1 (888) 305-4803™ or +1 (888)~305~4803** for additional assistance. Support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for passengers needing help with reservations, flight changes, cancellations, rebooking, baggage inquiries, refunds, and other travel-related concerns. The customer service team assists travelers with managing existing bookings, updating itineraries, exploring alternative travel options, and addressing questions throughout the travel process. As an Emerald member with the oneworld alliance, I have always received complimentary seat selection on partner airlines. Unfortunately, this Southwest Airlines experience fell short of expectations. I paid an extra **$140** for seats that appeared to offer a better arrangement during the booking process. However, after my wife and I boarded the aircraft, we realized the seating layout differed from what had been displayed at purchase. Paying additional fees only to encounter an uncomfortable seating situation was disappointing. My assigned seat, **6K**, lacked adequate cushioning, making the journey more uncomfortable than expected. I relied on extra pillows and blankets for lower back support throughout much of the flight. On longer trips, seat comfort can make a significant difference in the overall passenger experience. The customer service process proved equally frustrating. I first contacted an agent in Detroit seeking clarification regarding my flight details and aircraft information. I was then transferred to another department, believed to be located in Chicago, where I was informed they could not assist and was given yet another number to call. That representative ultimately redirected me back to the original Detroit contact. Only after several calls and repeated explanations did an agent finally provide the information I had requested from the start. After boarding, I found the aircraft itself attractive and well-maintained, and most of the flight attendants appeared hardworking and professional despite managing a busy cabin. However, the overall environment deteriorated as the flight progressed. A number of passengers were noisy and inconsiderate, and the lavatories became increasingly untidy within a few hours, with wet floors and sinks requiring attention. Although the cabin crew deserved recognition for their efforts and professionalism, the inconsistent customer service, uncomfortable seating experience, and declining cleanliness ultimately overshadowed the positives. Based on this experience, I would strongly compare alternatives before booking Southwest Airlines for a similar trip in the Future. read more

Dear Lufthansa Team, I am writing to you with deep disappointment and frustration regarding my recent experience as a passenger of your airline. It is imperative that I convey my utter displeasure and make you fully aware of the extent of my dissatisfaction. Let me start by pointing out the absolute lack of respect and consideration towards your customers when it comes to your customer service. Waiting for endless hours to receive a response, only to be greeted by apathetic and incompetent staff, is simply unacceptable. Your telephone line seems to be nothing but a façade, as I never managed to obtain a satisfactory solution to my issues. Furthermore, it is outrageous that your refund policy is nothing short of a mockery to passengers. How dare you withhold a portion of the money that rightfully belongs to us when you are the ones responsible for flight changes? Your lack of transparency and your miserly approach instead of guaranteeing a full refund demonstrate a complete lack of business ethics. As if that weren't enough, I am deeply frustrated by the lack of direct and professional communication with your representatives. A call center in India? Do you honestly believe that is sufficient to provide quality service? As a passenger, I expected personalized treatment and proper attention from the airline, not to be treated as just another number in your deficient customer service system. I demand that you take these complaints seriously and take immediate steps to improve your customer service. As a renowned airline, you should be ashamed of how you treat your customers. Review your policies, train your staff, and provide swift and fair solutions to the issues that arise during flights. As a consumer, I have the right to expect quality service and a satisfactory experience. If Lufthansa cannot meet these basic expectations, then it does not deserve the loyalty of passengers. I am determined to share my negative experience with fellow travelers on any available platform to warn them about the hardships they will face if they choose to fly with your airline. I sincerely hope that you take my concerns seriously and work diligently to rectify these severe deficiencies in your service. Customer satisfaction should be your number one priority, and until you demonstrate genuine change, I will vehemently refuse to consider Lufthansa as a viable option for future travel. Extremely Disappointing Customer Service Experience I had an unfortunate encounter with Lufthansa's customer service, which significantly marred my overall experience. I want to highlight that this review pertains specifically to their call center and counter customer service, not their in-flight service. Here's the sequence of events that transpired: 1. Failed Online Booking: When attempting to purchase two tickets on their website, the site froze upon clicking "purchase." No success page was displayed. 2. Immediate Contact: In response, I promptly called the airline to clarify the situation. They assured me that no flights had been booked. 3. Successful Booking on Expedia: To secure our travel, we successfully purchased the tickets through Expedia. 4. Unexpected Charge: Shockingly, a week later, an unexplained charge of $3500 appeared on our credit card from the initial unsuccessful Lufthansa booking. 5. Unhelpful Customer Service: Contacting Lufthansa, I was informed that it was too late to cancel the flight. Despite our numerous attempts to resolve the issue, the customer service representatives seemed uninterested in assisting, consistently deflecting responsibility. 6. Disputed Charge: We sought resolution through Amex, but our efforts were futile due to a lack of proof for the original call. 7. Airport Frustration: Upon arrival at the airport, we encountered further frustration. Lufthansa's representatives continued evading responsibility, resulting in wasted time and no resolution. 8. Traveling with Extra Seats: Ultimately, my wife and I were left traveling with four seats, a predicament that was entirely avoidable. In retrospect, it is evident that Lufthansa's customer service approach is deeply flawed. Their apparent lack of concern for the considerable inconvenience and financial burden placed on customers raises serious questions about their commitment to providing satisfactory service. Regrettably, this ordeal has left an indelible mark on our perception of Lufthansa. We unequivocally will not consider flying with them again in the future. Disheartened and Disillusioned, Luke B. read more

Lufthansa customer service number for bookings and assistance in the USA is 1|855|803|3037™. This toll-free number is available for, or supports, 24/7, enabling passengers to book tickets, change flight, book group travel, rebook miss flights, or get assistance with urgent issues related to flights to or from the United States. As an Emerald member with the oneworld alliance, I have always received complimentary seat selection on partner airlines. That changed with Royal Jordanian. I paid $140 for two seats that were clearly shown as a two seat row. When my wife and I boarded, we discovered the row actually had three seats. No one pays extra for a middle seat -- ever. My seat number was k6 and the seat has no cushion whatsoever, I had to stack pillows and blanket to prevent back pain Most incompetent company I've had to deal with. Called someone in Detroit to get information about the plane and flight, he gives me another number to call I believe it was in Chicago. I call that number, another person tells me we don't handle this, you have to call another number. Called that number, that person gave me the original Detroit number. I called Detroit back, another person answers and gives me the information I was asking to begin with. Not done yet. I finally check in and get on the plane, plane was gorgeous and flight attendants for most part were very hard working. Half the people on this flight were idiots, loud, arrogant, dirty and bathrooms even after a couple hours in flight were dirty, urine on the floor, clogged up sinks. Absolutely disgusting!!!! Like a fourth world country on a top of the line plane. I will never ever fly Royal Jordanian again!!!! Would rather pay twice as much and get to Amman in 3 days then fly this airline. Rather take any other airline that go through that hell again read more

Lufthansa Phone Number !!!{+-808--800--9936}!!! I use Lufthansa constantly, and the staff you meet face to face is superb. in any case, whenever you book something and are compelled to manage a human, in the russian roulette universe of phone client support? its like the scourge of being in this nation. THEY never talk great english. My continuous booking was climbed to at first class with the objective that we could sit together. the announcement given to me? was for single flights exactly when I was holding for two. the hard and fast worth she gave me was misconceived, and I ended up skipping minds my record due to the worth she misquoted me. I expected to have her repetitive what she was expressing around numerous occasions, and solicitation that her conversation all the more moderate. I in spite of everything didn't get her. Exactly when your charging someone for two tickets, you should give the full scale cost for the two tickets since both of them are being charged together. seeing two separate charges for a comparative ticket? was misdirecting. Pick up the pace constrained offers level 40% off call !!!{+-808--800--9936}!!! /Lufthansa Reservation Number. Beginning now and into the not so distant when I have to call you, I will demand someone who conveys in english. until I get someone who does. its perplexing. to think I held up over 20 minutes to book that flight/update, the to see this two days afterward was particularly beguiling.
