I went there to get some food during my lunch and it was a total downer, food sucks there. I got tacos which had a weird taste, no flavor at all, I also got a Birria plate and man have never seen anything as bad. It didn't even looked like Birria, it was more like chunks of meat in spaghetti sauce, I can honestly say I thought I was eating square meatballs in spaghetti sauce. You pay by the pound & the onions go toward that weight- I'm not buying onions, I'm buying carne asada. $40 for 2.5lbs of meat that's full of fat & gristle is CRAZY work. Not to mention, the marinade itself isn't even that great. Better than most, but I've marinated meat myself thats 10x better. So I handed dude the $40 bag of onions, fat & "meat" & took my $40 to sam's club & managed to get over 5 LBS of skirt steak to marinade this shit myself. Smell of Death...Not the first time I bought rotten shrimp from there. I called to tell him I was on my way back to return them. I get there and it's already closed. They didn't wait for me to exchange the rotten shrimp. It's happened about 5 time.Do not shop here, other than being expensive everything is always rotten. This meat market is NOT the same as the one in Downey. Someone told me this place was the same as the Downey location. The owner even told me that the one in Downey is owned by his son. Really enjoy the marinated chicken and carne asada. Asada is a bit expensive, but difficult to match the flavor. The meat is consistent. Very disappointed, was recommended to Luis's meat market from a coworker. We hired him for our tennis banquet at Mayfair high school for 40 people and we did not have enough food for everybody. We ran out of meat before a some people who came late could even eat. In the past with other taco catering , not only do we have more than enough food to feed everybody, but we usually have a lot of food extra. This was definitely not the case. I bought 2 chicken beast with bone & both chicken breast smelled disgusting! I thought the chicken just smelled gross as chicken usually doesn't have a pleasant smell. This little shop has a bit of everything and I wish I had one in my own neighborhood back in Las Vegas. We went in looking for the tapas we use to make empanadas, which they surprisingly had the right ones. I was doubtful with it being such a small shop. They have a full meat counter/butcher on the back wall. He's knowledgeable and will cut anything up how you want it. The skirt steak we picked up was great on the grill that night. They also have fresh salsas and guacamole back here. They have fresh produce section, aisles of all the misc items you'd find at any other larger Mexican grocery store in LA. They also have a small area where they are serving up hot and fresh food items to go. We were heading home to a large feast of or own so I only grabbed a large bag of tortilla chips - which lasted most the weekend and were very good. This store is down the street from my families house, and has been her a few years now. I don't know why I've never been in before but I guarantee l'll be walking there each time I'm back visiting. read more

This rating is on service not food. The meat here is very delicious but I guess a little customer service is too much to ask for here. I am assuming this is not a huge priority for Luis. I came in this morning to buy a large quantity of meat as I have before. Luis whom I had never met was mopping the floors when he saw me walk in. He watched me stand at the counter without saying a word. Finally he says, "You Want Meat," "Do I want Meat?" I reply. " I would like some meat, yes" I reply. Luis with an attitude puts the mop down and washes his hands. I ask him in Spanish (yes Luis I speak Spanish) a question about the meat and can tell Luis is frustrated. This place could be great, and I want to love it because it's close to me and it's clean with a nice parking lot, but if the pollo marinado I bought from them is waaaaaay too salty, then it's a no go. I bought a few pounds of the chicken to grill. The quality was good, but again, way too salty. For round 2, I had to rinse the marinated chicken in the sink before cooking it, and it was still pretty salty. The lime I bought was sticky... all of them were, like one of them exploded in the box and they all got sticky. The guacamole I bought was pretty good and I believe it's made in house. They have their own label on them. I don't think they understand that on an ingredient label, the ingredient you have the most of goes first. Avocado was somewhere in the middle after onion, cilantro, and salt..... I don't believe the guac had more onion, cilantro, and salt than it did avocado. read more
