Disappointing After Giving This Store Multiple Chances The store itself generally appears clean, and I will say that many of the employees I have encountered have been pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately, after giving this location multiple chances, there are too many ongoing issues for me to overlook. I have personally seen moldy bread, moldy vegetables, and even moldy cheese still available for purchase. I have also noticed fruit flies or gnats flying around the produce. Regardless of how clean the store may appear overall, seeing spoiled food and insects around fresh produce makes it very unappealing and difficult to feel comfortable purchasing those items. Customer service is also very inconsistent. While some employees are wonderful, I have encountered rude and unprofessional behavior from certain employees, including management. The pickup service has been another disappointment. I have received substitutions that were completely different from what I ordered, items have been missing, and there have been times when an employee brought my groceries out, loaded them into my trunk, slammed the trunk closed, and simply walked away without saying, "You're all set," "Thank you," or anything at all. A small amount of courtesy goes a long way. I understand that staffing may sometimes be an issue, but customers should still be able to expect fresh food, properly maintained produce areas, reasonable substitutions, and courteous service. I have continued shopping here and given this store plenty of opportunities because I hoped things would improve, but unfortunately, I'm reaching the point where I feel it may be time to take my business elsewhere. I really hope management takes these concerns seriously because this store could be so much better with more attention to food quality, cleanliness around the produce, and consistent customer service. read more

Calvin, the sushi chef, makes this Vons a surprising go to for a Salmon Poke roll. I have have had many a grocery sushi and thought Sprouts is the only acceptable place in a pinch but actually the Salmon Poke roll here is way better than any Sprouts roll and is restaurant quality. First time at this very large Vons in the Lakewood Marketplace. It anchors this strip mall with a large surface parking lot, sharing it with nearby Daiso and Banfield Pet Hospital (and a Rite-Aid which I believe is now closed). With the added space, aisles seemed to be wider than normal, and because it wasn't so busy (and employees weren't restocking) easy to traverse. It absolutely is a must to stock up on food items when on sale, otherwise prices are just high and much better to go to Aldi's. The app works well to identify, and even though we came in the middle of the week sale, all the items that were sharply discounted had plenty of inventory. Ended up spending quite a bit on various meats, knowing that it would freeze well once divided into smaller portions. Also noticed that unlike our closest Vons, much of the personal care products and toiletries were not locked away. read more

12/10/24 This Vons location used to be Pavilions a while back. Now entirely certain why the change or why Pavilions did not succeed at this location. I have yet to encounter a warm or welcoming experience from staff here. This is perhaps the main reason I shop more at either Ralph's or Sprouts. I was looking for Knorr bouillon & I asked from one of the employees, who seemed to have never heard of Knorr or what bouillon is, when I said maybe where broth or soup would be, she said go to aisle 6. Maybe she is not familiar with the store either. In most major stores, staff customarily "show" you where it is or help you find what you're looking for (like Ralph's & even Sprouts are customer friendly) Not this particular market location. 1/4/25 To be continued.... The Bons App is NOT user friendly either. I was having trouble scanning the U sales/items. The Progresso soups are for $1.47 as a digital coupon. It took quite a bit of time just scanning the barcode of the soups & it states it is not part of the deal...WTH, as I was scanning the actual product or the tag. I gave up & went to the cashier instead. At checkout, Amber, the cashier appeared exasperated as she helped me navigate the App & my transaction. She stated I may have used the deal already or selected the wrong soups. NEITHER!!! I informed her that this was the first time that I utilized this deal and I scanned the correct soup. She must've trusted that I wasn't pulling some scam & rang me up accordingly. This experience was less than favorable with regard to customer service, perhaps I expected more from a major supermarket like Vons. There should be much ease with the App when grocery shopping is an everyday type of chore where ease & convenience should be the appeal or draw. Saturday at around 9:30 PM, I was the only customer paying. The cashier, Evelyn, who was wearing a black mask, asked if I needed a bag. I said, "Yes, just one." She then looked at my groceries and asked if I wanted them double-bagged. At that point, it felt like even packing my small order into one bag was a burden, so I told her, "No, I only need one -- I'll do it myself." When she saw the orange juice, she asked if I wanted to leave it out too. I again replied, "I'll do it." She tried to help after I paid, but by then I just packed it myself so she could see it was fast and easy task!! Im leaving This is review based on my sons experience tonight , he is 15 years old and likes Pokémon, this vons has a Pokemon vending machine so he wanted to stop by, he said he was standing there for about 10 minutes and the security guard told him he couldn't just stand there and had to either shop around or leave , so my son went and bought something, he said that as he was walking around he noticed that someone else was also standing there but the security guard just fist pumped him and let him be and also did this with another person for about the 20 minutes my son was in the store, he understands their are rules but why not have the same energy for everyone? 5/11/25, Came here to buy a chicken breast thinking that I could save a couple dollars since El Polo Loco across the street is $5.56 per chicken breast, this was a mistake since this mango habanero baked chicken breast totally tasted like chewing rubber, I took only one bite and decided that I would call the store deli to complain about it which I did. The deli girl said that the chicken is all prepackaged shipped to the store although she didn't know if but suspected that the chicken is pumped with antibiotics and hormones which makes it look bigger and taste tough. I told her that I will come back to the store for a refund of the $2.42 that I paid. I won't be buying crap deli foods again. You get what you pay for these days. This review is based MAINLY due to the way I was treated at their Pharmacy today. I don't live close to this location and this was my first time buying anything from this location, I went to the Pharmacy area specifically for one item. I found it and went to the Pharmacy counter to pay for it. The middle aged lady looked at me and I asked her, "May I pay for this here"? I knew that I was able to since it was an item from that department. She looked up at me and said, "You can pay for it up front". This is my first impression of this location, they don't want my business or do they appreciate my business. I had problems finding this product, if I didn't need it I would have just left the store. Today I received exceptional customer service from Joey in the Signature café. I didn't realize the cafe closes around 3pm so there was no one there to make sandwiches. When I explained to Joey that I had driven to this location specifically for a sandwich and asked him if he could make me one, he smiled and said yes. I was so grateful that he took the time to make me a sandwich but beyond that, he really impressed me with his willingness to provide excellent customer service! This is my home grocery store. Twice this week I have come and both times there have been looters that have left the store with large amount of groceries without paying. It just happened again at approx 7:33 PM on 10/13. Interestingly enough if you check the camera you will see security in bakery area no where near the exit. Although it's not Vons fault that looters do these things, please position security at the exit since they are already being paid. I do not want me or my children continually witnessing theft. This is a serious concern, not just for Vons, but for our whole community. On April 10th, I was shopping at this location with my mom and young daughter when we witnessed two teenagers openly shoplifting--filling backpacks with bottles of alcohol and stuffing other items into their pockets. But what shocked us more than their boldness was the response from store staff: nothing. My mom told the on-duty security guard, who just shrugged and said she had just clocked in. I informed a clerk, who explained they're not allowed to confront shoplifters or they could lose their jobs. There was no urgency, no real concern--just a quiet acceptance that this is how things are now. I'm not blaming individual employees. They're working under policies that discourage them from intervening. But that policy creates a culture of apathy, and it puts everyone at risk--including the teens themselves. What happens when they leave with alcohol and drive off, or supply it to others? This is about more than shoplifting--it's about safety, responsibility, and accountability. This reflects directly on the leadership of Vons and its parent company, Albertsons--including incoming CEO Susan Morris and Vons Division President Gary Rocheleau. I've sent letters to their offices hoping for a serious response. But it's not just their job to care--it's ours too as a community. As customers, parents, and neighbors, we shouldn't just shrug and move on. If we want change, we need to speak up--write, email, raise awareness, and get local authorities and media involved when necessary. We've decided not to return to this location for the time being. Our safety and dignity as paying customers--and as members of this community--should matter. I truly hope this store and corporate leadership take this seriously. read more

I first and foremost want to give the 5 stars for Janifer. She always goes out of her way to help her customers. If she isn't at the register by the door then I don't really want to shop. I drive 10 miles to go to this store, just because of her. She is an asset to Vons. We have shopped at this particular Vons for years--no problems. But my husband went to return a tub of unopened Romano that was recently bought, and not past the expiration date because it had mold in it. The CUSTOMER SERVICE staff couldn't be bothered. They dismissed him to a cashier--who had a long line of customers--who dismissed him to the end of that line--so my husband left. Angrily. I have returned things at the customer service desk before with NO PROBLEMS like this. The dismissive nature of the staff is pretty troubling in this instance, because my husband is a pretty even keeled guy in general. What is the customer service desk for?????? If the store can't man it, and if the staff can't be bothered to the point of shuffling it off to a cashier with a LONG LINE of customers, well that's not customer service. I'm extremely concerned about the bagging practices at this store. Raw meat was placed in the same bag as cucumbers and imitation crab meat--items often consumed raw. This is an absolute health hazard, especially considering there was a cucumber recall due to salmonella contamination just two weeks ago. Raw meat should always be bagged separately to prevent cross-contamination. I've reported this issue multiple times (as it has occurred more than once for me): on their website, in-store, and over the phone, yet it continues to intermittently happen. I truly hope no one gets sick because of this negligence. This is a serious issue, and the store management needs to take it seriously before someone's health is harmed. read more

today 8/21 i went to vons to get some ready meals that are on sale buy 2 get 1 free (i got 3 from albertsons off del amo and clark last week with excellent service). the one that i wanted expires today so i went to the deli department to ask for a fresh one (did the same thing last week at albertsons with no problem). i was told that i needed to talk to the mgr peter. the associate went and asked peter (meat-deli mgr) and he said no that he was busy. i asked to speak with him and explained that albertsons made a fresh one with no problem seeing how i won't be eating it today or tomorrow. peter came out (attitude) and told me no that he was busy stocking shelves (not helping customers but stocking). i explained albertsons gladly made fresh ones last week with no problem or attitude. peter said i would have to wait until he was finished stocking shelves 20+ minutes and then he would make me a fresh one but it would take time because he has to get the ingredients. i'm confused why the nice helpful associate at albertsons stopped stocking and happily made fresh ones but not peter serious attitude and stocking shelves comes before helping at customer who is at the store spending $$$ right now. this isn't my 1st, 2nd or 3rd interaction with peter. he is always rude and when you ask him something its always nooo with a serious attitude. how is he a manager with no, none customer service skills? extremely upset i'll stick to albertsons and now start shopping at ralph's read more

I don't have problems shopping here but I see that it could do better in terms of cleanliness especially with the refrigerated items. They do have variety of items and all your everyday needs. I'm not particularly loyal to any one grocery store, but Vons has always been a mainstay in my grocery experience and I usually just happen to go wherever it's most convenient and today here i was. The worst vons I've ever been to, repeatly terrible service and associates that look like they HATE their job. AMBER R was our cashier today and by far the rudest person I've ever been helped by. Haven't been to Vons in years and remembered why. Was there in search of a self-care product and found it along with a few other things. The Crystal Geyser water was $2 each or 10 for $10. Checking out the old equipment wouldn't take my gift card and only took credit after 6 tries. Got home and was overcharged for water. Even though I keyed in my reward number I was still charged full price. Ripoff. Always check to see if prices match. Don't count on them honoring gift cards. read more
