I've been wanting to come to this place for a while ever since I've discovered it on yelp. This is one of those hole-in-the-wall places that you wouldn't notice if you were to drive past it because it's well hidden. Since I've been cravings chorizo and eggs for the past few days, I decided to get the chorizo and egg burrito. It was alright, but I have to say... First timers for me and the hubby. We had the Chile relleno w/enchilada, nachitos platter and for the drinks a Jamaica, mango smoothie and a pineapple smoothie. Right off the bat, the cashier was super sweet and attentive. She seated us quickly and immediately brought us complimentary chips and salsa which were delicious! She was extremely helpful with suggesting crowd favorites and refilled our chips as soon as they were done. The food was amazing! We definitely did not expect the amount of food we received for the low price we paid. There was sooooo much food & because it tasted sooooo good we couldn't stop eating despite being full 1/2 way through our plates. We without regret demolished the food and are now in a food coma. The smoothies were fresh and soooo good. You can tell they make them from scratch. I loved how the mango smoothie had bits of mango and the pineapple smoothie was sooooo sweet! Service and Family owned is only reason for two stars. I been here three times giving them a chance but the last of the three was the worst. First visit: had the caldo de res (beef stew) it was ok. Second visit: had chorizo and eggs breakfast plate, it was good but ruined when I ate the guacamole garnish. It had a funky chemical flavor. Third and last visit: Chile relleno plate and kid's breakfast plate. I had been looking forward to the relleno because I was told they only make them fresh in the morning. Mine must have been left over from the previous day because it was far from fresh made. The squash side was great. It was garnished with old brown lettuce, didn't eat the food it touched because it had a that same nasty chemical flavor the guacamole from the first visit had. If your garnish if not fresh just don't garnish. The kids plate was ordered with scrambled eggs. The eggs had that same that same nasty flavor, I stopped my kid from eating it. They have a wide variety of selection but that doesn't always mean the quality is bountiful. I ordered a Torta de Chorizo and it came w/ a side of French fries. The Torta itself was good not great. The chorizo was way too mushed and tasted really oily. Usually the chorizo pieces are a lot bigger and less of a "watery" texture. The fries were good but they do need seasoning. Dishes are larger than you think, and I've always received a large amount of chips and dip even when ordering to go. We both decided on wet burritos, for me Machaca, for her Chile Verde. The menus showed that the burritos came with rice and beans, they didn't. I also asked what fresh juices they had, and it was carrot or orange. I got some orange juice, which was very good. The food didn't take too long to come out. The burritos were of a good size. Unfortunately, neither of us really dug our food. I didn't really care for the sauce on my burrito, and the meat and eggs were chopped up so fine I honestly couldn't tell what I was eating. Very rarely do I run into a restaurant that has that real "mom and pop" feel and where the owners treat their customers with such generosity and and grace. Lucy, one of the owners, helped me cater for a work lunch and was very accommodating to my needs and my budget. Not only did she greet me with a smile, but also, she wanted to share some of the menu items with me and gave me "free samples" of some of the traditional favorites of the store. Apparently Nachos has been a part of the community for around 30 years, and it is definitely part of the DNA that makes Bellflower have that small town family feel. I had never catered with them before so I didn't know what to expect. She provided a sample tasting prior to our event and we loved all of it!
