We were up next in line with 4 items in our basket, and she proceeds to tell us she can't take us next but she can take 4 people (1 in front and 3 behind us) because they have 1 items (they actually had at least 2 a piece) so that's over 8 items. We felt very discriminated against and I express that to my mom, why if we're next she can't check us out, she then proceeded to interject herself to say "because I'm off and they only have a few items" I said well you about to do 4 transactions with at least 8 items, when you could've taken us and been done.. if your off, then go home girl???I don't appreciate her trying to escalate the situation by trying to argue with me, not a good look for the store. read more

I go here a couple times a month to pick up an item or two. I appreciate the staff, who are friendly and helpful. Always a parking spot available too. The prices are a little high, but I think it's because it's more specialty than a typical grocery store. The lines can be long at a times too, but if you need water, frozen items, good cuts of meat, and produce, they'll have a good selection. I've been going to this store for the longest time way back from old location. I never had a problem until today. I bought worth $100.00 items and gave my old & bags. He rang everything and i paid. Then he started talking to his coworker so i asked are you not going to bag my groceries? His response was "we're not obligated..... ok , this other bag is dirty. It's ok I'll bag." I paid a new bag to put the rest of the items. I told him how sure i am if these bags are clean? Because the a can of crushed pineapple is dusty. My problem wasn't going into this store in Bellflower, CA, or anyother Smart & Final store near me. My issue is when I ordered my groceries online or I should say, "behind the scenes of my order either at the store or delivery". When you order something thru Smart & Final, you have to pick a store near you. I picked store #311, 15930 Bellflower Blvd, Bellflower, CA 90706 My order was somewhat complete. There was a couple of items missing but that wasn't the problem. I didn't get a call or a knock when my groceries where delivered. But when I opened my front door and started to grab my items, a bunch of flies flew out of the bag I was holding. I looked and it was the Rotisserie Chicken I order and paid for. The lid was off and the chicken exposed. I can't tell you by writing this how livid, hostile and angry I became. But I did not want to get my child upset. I was afraid of going to the Smart & Final store because I can get very loud and physical when I become angry and I didn't want that to happen. I didn't want to go to jail for punching some careless dick who didn't take the time to package and secure it correctly. All of my canned items where fine, no openings, no cracks, no lids ajar, no breaks whatsoever. I don't order or use Smart & Final online since and I would recommend it. This store has all the basic necessities that you're looking for in a typical grocery store. I haven't had any problems with the staff or produce. The store is huuuge so I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for. If you find spoiled produce, that might just be a one-time unlucky sighting because it hasn't happened to me yet ever since I've been coming here. Checkout is extremely fast. Yesterday around 4 pm a gentleman put money in the lottery machine and I guess the machine wouldn't print out his ticket requests. So I guess he was asking for help. They were telling him sorry. Convenient and easy to find items I need. I've been coming here from day 1 when they opened the place. Much better than the tiny store they previously had on Alondra many moons ago. Anyway, employees are friendly and mostly a young crowd, which is good for a change. I guess Covid has brought many changes to this store as well as many other grocery stores. Beware, if you don't have a face mask, don't even think of walking inside. The security guards are pretty strict about you wearing one and will turn you away. So, as a responsible adult do your part and don't expect to be allowed to shop without a face mask. I have been coming to this store for more than 15 years, when they had a club card, for my family needs and when they carried club size items i would shop here for my business. In all of my years coming here ive never had a problem with unhelpful or rude workers like some of the reviews are saying. Parking lot is big so no problem there. But now they have remodeled the store and i absolutely hate it. It would have been ok if it made navigating the store easier, but it doesnt. Basically they tried to make it look like Trader Joes and Sprouts, 2 stores that i hate. They should have just gotten the empty Ralphs spot across the street to add more square footage. This Store has the most incompetent workers I have ever come across. I had a question regarding a carbonated beverage (I just wanted to know whether or not it was carbonated because it was in a can) I had to go through three clueless vendors and two employees before receiving an answer. Everyone I spoke too seemed very dis-interested in assisting me, the customer. This all happened around 6:15AM so it's not like the store was crowded. Luis who works in produce told me he could not help me simply because he works in produce (Now that's bad customer service, this man should be fired). Miguel ended up helping me after I pleaded with him and told him my question had NOTHING to do with the specific area in which he worked... this is why technology and Amazon is replacing these service jobs. The best part of this horrible visit was Erika the cashier who has always demonstrated outstanding customer service! No membership dues, most brands available at the mega superstore are available here, in a more compact warehouse & smaller quantities. This particular one is in a smaller, less busy area. Good deals on seasonal products, best deal on paper goods particularly party supplies -a HUGE assortment in terms of quality , size or quantity (that is good enough for a party or for your own restaurant!) Larger supply of fresh produce, but I think the prices are comparable or equal to other grocery stores - I was hoping for cheaper. Good for meats and meat products. read more

They are pretty good with helping out around the store, and the cashiers don't fuss when you use manufacturers coupon. The produce is usually fresh too. I shop here frequently since I live in bellflower and this location is close to home. The selection is decent and produce is somewhat hit and miss. They do have everything I need and some good bulk buys which I like. What I don't like is how this location seems chronically understaffed, or at least the staff seems generally unhelpful and unfriendly. Multiple times I have been at the check out stand and the person work I g the register did not say one word to me until they had the total payment amount. Today for example, my wife and I bought 230ish dollars worth of stuff for an event we are doing, and the girl at the register just seemed irritated that we had so much stuff. Granted, this may be a management issue or corporate climate bla bla bla, but whatever it is, I wish they would start creating a more customer friendly culture so that shopping there is not so taxing of an experience. read more

I came to Smart & Final today for just a couple of things forgetting that it was Saturday afternoon. I should have realized with the full parking lot that the store was going to be crowded. I walked in and it was crowded. I wandered about picking up the things and a couple of "Impulse" items (dill pickles for one) and made my way to the front. They had four check stands open. One of these was a express (10 or fewer). The other three lines had several people in line and they all had full carts. The Express lane had a couple of people in it and the lady at the end of the line had a basket full of stuff. I always get angry at this because they call it an express lane for a reason. I have actually taken items out of my cart in order to stay under the limit. When the lady got to the belt the cashier asked the "Lead" cashier about the full cart. As the lady put her first item on the belt, the cashier apologized to the lady and told her that it was a lane for 10 or fewer items and she was going to have to go to a different register. Well the lady was unhappy about it but did so without creating a disturbance. The rest of the people including me got a very satisfied look on our face. I thanked the cashier for doing it. So did everyone else. This is the first time in my life that I have ever seen this happen! read more

Buying lasagne fixins' :) They would have had more stars but I couldn't tolerate the number of wild kids running loose in the store. There should really be laws about this, first of all it's unsafe to have them running around banging into people and products. Secondly, it's annoying to those of us who didn't bring our kids and are trying to concentrate on not missing stuff on the list. The store itself is awesome, nice aisles, plenty of product, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Ok, just read the other reviews and hopefully the store manager will also, the only thing keeping this place from five stars is the location I guess ...someone else mentioned the beggars outside the store. Which I didn't see. Anyway, i guess this location has a few issues. As I said, friendly staff, lots of room in the aisles, super clean store.
