This was probably the worse dinner service and experience I've had in my life . Let's start with the positive . The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the food was very good . However we were a party of 8 and before we ordered we told the server we were gonna be on 3 different checks . He said not to worry that he'll sort it at the end . The server was short and rude throughout the whole entire meal , he had a terrible attitude and seem bothered, he should NOT be in the service industry poor guy was miserable . When the bill came everything came in one bill and he said he couldn't separate it . Our party tried to figured it out manually but it was impossible. After he brought his manager . She came to tell us that it was impossible to separate the check , she didn't come to help but to say there was absolutely no way to separate the checks even though we were assured that prior ordering our dinners . She was not helpful , she stated that the ONLY way to pay was to split it in 3 even amounts . This woman had the WORSE customer service and customer approach I've encountered in the service industry. A manager should be helpful and offer solutions she came to play bad cop with us . Luisa Ownership should be embarrassed to have her representing their establishment. One of the 3 checks was a single person that ordered one fish dish she was expecting him to pay $267 for his portion . After she became extremely argumentative about us paying even amounts telling us her " system" was absolutely impossible to split checks . I simply informed her we weren't going to do that since before we ordered we were clear we were 3 different households . She left and miraculously came back with the checks for each family like we initially asked for . So out of the sudden her "system" that she assured it was incapable of splitting accordingly the items was magically able to do so . I came to PR to take my elderly parents out to a nice restaurant and this place was an absolute shit show . NEVER AGAIN !!!! read more

Do not go here if you are not a middle aged white man. This was simply the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. Our waiter was rude to us (a group of 8 girls in our early 20s) all night, including getting in an argument with one member of our party when her meal came with meat after asking for it vegetarian. We had to consistently ask for water refills and would have to wait up to 5 minutes ever time. When our check came we were informed that there is a 20% included gratuity. We explained the situation and asked for it to be reduced. The hostess was incredibly rude and said that she could only reduce it to 18%. This restaurant ruined our night and we felt uncomfortable the other night. I wish I could give 0 stars. read more

THE WORST DINING EXPERIENCE EVER. Our server was ageist and sexist. We are young females and the entire staff was so disrespectful. They called us white trash and gave us horrible service all night. This was the worst dining experience I have had in a long time. My party of 8 college girls were very excited to have a nice meal. Our waiter was extremely rude to us the entire time, forgetting about us. We all left feeling extremely used and taken advantage of. The waiters were gossiping about us and called us white trash while knowing that they would get a 20% tip because of our table size. One of the people in our group asked for a meal without meat because she's a vegetarian. When her meal came with chorizo, the waiter gaslight her saying she did not ask for no meat and argued with us for a solid minute. The water was never full and we were completely disregarded the entire night. I have never had such an uncomfortable meal filled with such rude staff in my entire life. The food was great with large proportion. The waiters were all friendly and kind. Only complaint was they charge 7$ for water, which was surprising for me, but I think it's worth it for the good food which are reasonably priced and for the great service. Food is all fresh and made there. read more

Our experience at Luisa was exceptional. The food was delicious and the presentation was exquisite. We had Croquetas de Bacalao which were the best I have ever had. For our main meal we ordered NY Steak, Prawns in garlic sauce and Paella. I have to say that the Paella was incredible, even better than some we have had throughout Spain. One of those overrated restaurants . I came after a YouTuber strongly recommended this restaurant for their amazing menu. It's a steak house so not really much of a menu but that's expected. It is, of course, expensive but that is also expected. What I didn't expect was that the food and drinks would be so underwhelming. The service was not that great. I just expected a place like this would know how to season a piece of salmon so I don't have to ask for salt. So try it if you like to spend money for subpar meal and service. A must visit while in Condado and even general San Juan area. This place has a ton of stellar reviews on TripAdvisor but for some reason not many on Yelp. Don't miss out! We had the croquettes to start. For our entrees we had the salmon (with a honey mustard sauce) and filet mignon. Side of sliced potatoes. Shared a bottle of wine. Every dish was amazing and our check came out to about $120 total. The decor is beautiful and the staff so friendly. Cannot recommend this place highly enough! You're missing out if you don't visit while in PR. Similar vibes to Serafina and the nicer restaurants in the area. read more

Complete disaster...We went for what was supposed to be a nice dinner in San Juan. Ordered the shrimp linguini and the whole sole (lenguado). Both dishes were served at room temperature. When the waitress Liz came to check on us, I told her that the food had been served at room temperature and the linguini was so oily/greasy that being at room temperature, that was the only thing one could taste. She graciously apologized and told us she was going to take care of it. Next thing we know, a woman named Jarelis, came to our table asking us what to do? In every other restaurant that we have returned the food got being cold, we have never been asked what to do? Anyway, since she didn't know, we told her to warm up the food . The linguini came back warmer , but just the top portion. As I started eating it again, I felt the same grease/oil in my mouth. Once you removed the very top portion, the rest wasn't even warm but it was sitting on a pool of oil. That was gross. As for the fish, there was nothing good to say about it...Plain and tasteless. In summary, this visit was a complete waste of our time and our money. Our dinner was completely ruined. read more

Our last night in San Juan before heading to a resort near Ponce, we decided to eat in and ordered take out from Luisa. The meal was excellent! I loved the skirt steak entree and octopus appetizer. I would give 0 stars if I could. At a restaurant where I'm paying $50 for a meal, I would expect some basic respect. The worst server I've ever had. He could not have paid less attention to our table, but don't worry that was after he referred to us as white trash to his coworkers, thinking we didn't know Spanish. I ordered the risotto without chorizo because I'm a vegetarian, not knowing that's a crime or something. When it came filled with meat, I asked for a new one and the waiter argued with me about how I ordered it. He brought me a new one and acted as though I should praise the ground he walked on for simply doing his job. After we asked for the check, he cleared the other 2 tables in his section (if you have 3 tables, there is simply no excuse for not paying attention to one of them, that's quite pathetic as a server) and waited at least 15 minutes before bringing the check. When a hostess brought us our check (because I assume he didn't want to see us anymore) there was already a 20% gratuity added! For abysmal service! I asked her kindly to change that after the horrible experience and she knew all about our complaints, guess they did more gossiping after the white trash comment. She wouldn't change it to less than 18%. I asked for a box and the waiter cleared my plate to a table of dirty dishes, so I asked the hostess for my box. And guess what I received! You guessed it! Chorizo! I work as a server, and as I am a 20 year old woman I would never get away with such behavior. read more

Luisa's is in a darker, pretty unassuming neighborhood on the border of Condado and Santurce. You pull the door open and it's a bit surprising. Big and bright and well decorated. We didn't have reservations but my wife and I had no issue sitting at the bar. They don't have a 'wine list', so you need to enter the wine cellar to select. But they made us a nice old fashioned so we were set. Our apps were the empanadillas camarones (shrimp empanadas), They had a little kick to them and were very good. We then shared the paella. It was VERY good and while the entree was nearly $55, we shared it and there was still plenty left over for several small meals later. We finished off with the pera de vino (a pear soaked in wine). My wife enjoyed it immensely. It was the star dish. The bartenders took good care of us and our meals were brought promptly. Very nice experience at Luisa. I would recommend! read more
