Food was good however the restaurant has deceitful practices. We spent about $55 on each meal ($150 dinner) and when the bill came we noticed that the restaurant added a $7 charge for each 6 ounce cup of water and $4 for a piece of bread. At no time did the waitress mention they charge $7 for each cup of water! Or that they would charge for a piece of bread! so you could imagine our surprise. These are typically included with the meal so we felt taken advantage of. We wouldn't have mind paying but for them not to disclose it was very disappointing, not happy about the dishonest practice and do not recommend due to how they nickel and dime you for the simplest things. I have mixed feelings about this place. The food and service were excellent. However, they sell you a bottle of wine and then charge you a $35 dollars corking fee for opening the marked up wine you just bought from them. I have never seen anything like this. I hope it was a mistake. I have been to thousands of restaurants and was only charged a corking fee when I brought my own wine. 0 star please! The rudest staff and terrible service. They sell you leftover. I had the worst dining experience at Luisa Restaurant in San Juan last night. When I requested water, the waiter poured glasses for my dad and me from an already opened half-bottle of Evian, then took the bottle away. When my husband joined us and asked for water, they poured him half a glass from the same bottle, which ran out, and finally brought a new sealed bottle and left it on the table. To my surprise, I was charged for two full bottles of water ($14) despite only receiving one sealed bottle and half of another (likely leftover from another table). Thinking it might have been a mistake, I called the restaurant to clarify and expected an apology or at least a reasonable explanation. Instead, I was met with shockingly rude and dismissive behavior from multiple female staff members who answered the phone. They spoke to me in an accusatory tone, made excuses, and even mocked me when I requested an apology. One of them sarcastically said, "Oh, you want an apology?" and another responded in the most unprofessional and condescending tone, "Oh, we apologize bula bula." This behavior is disgusting and unacceptable, especially for a restaurant that markets itself as a high-end establishment. The staff's complete lack of professionalism, respect, and common decency left me appalled. They refused to refund the tip I left, even though the issue stemmed from poor service, and only agreed to refund the bottle if I physically returned to the restaurant--a ridiculous and inconvenient demand. It's 2025, and I never expected to experience such appalling service and unprofessionalism in a so-called upscale restaurant. To be treated this way as a paying customer is revolting. It's clear this restaurant does not value its patrons or understand basic hospitality. Avoid this place at all costs if you value respectful and honest service--you won't find it here. read more

The setting is romantic and the food is good. Overall, a nice spot to bring a date. It seems they have a rotating menu, but it is safe to say they lean favorably on Spanish inspired dishes plus steaks. There is private parking across the street plus valet parking for $3. We had Callos Madrileños for appetizer. I would say this was our favorite dish. Together with the complimentary bread to soak up the sauce... delicious. Add wine and you have a winning combo. As for the wine, they have a small cellar (not really a cellar) where guests can enter and pick their wine. Bring it to the table and the server will open it. For our main course I had the NY Strip. It was about 10-12oz and came on a sizzling stone plate. It was cooked to my liking, medium rare. I thought it could have had a bit more salt but still good. My wife didn't agree. She thought it was way too under seasoned. She had the trout with Iberian ham. We both thought it was average. We don't usually order dessert but since it was date night we went for the full experience and got the crème brûlée. Excellent choice. Our server Ana Violeta did a nice job. read more

Place itself is absolutely gorgeous - lots of eating with a spacious and high end bar area. Wish they had print menus but in the meantime they're using QR codes. I went around 4pm and was able to be seated immediately at the bar with no reservation. The bartender was very friendly and kind. I ordered a tanqueray martini and it came exactly the way I wanted it. Glassware was stunning (yes I'm a nerd that cares about stuff like that). I also ordered the ceviche appetizer - around $12 or so - that I thought was amazing and a big portion for the price. Fish was delicious and very fresh. The hostess with the bob haircut was extremely rude, rolling her eyes at us throughout our entire visit. Despite making a reservation for 7:30 PM, we were told to wait on the side for almost 30 minutes before being seated. What's the point of making a reservation if it's not honored? Every time she walked past us, she rolled her eyes, making us feel incredibly uncomfortable and unwelcome. To make matters worse, there was also a blonde hostess with a bob cut who kept smirking at us, clearly showing favoritism toward other guests. It was obvious that this place caters to white patrons, while the rest of us were treated as an afterthought. This place tries to act high-end and pretentious, but the staff's stuck-up and unprofessional attitude completely ruins the experience. That being said, our waiter was absolutely wonderful--super sweet, attentive, and the only saving grace of the night. The interior designer did a wonderful job. This is not a casual restaurant. It is on the fancier side. Most people, mainly locals, were dressed up. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the food. It was hit or miss. Our appetizers and dessert were hits. I really enjoyed them. However, I felt they missed on the main courses. I had the trout with Iberian ham. It was okay, but it was a little cold. My husband had a steak. He liked it, but when I tried it I thought is was very under seasoned. I don't know, maybe we were unlucky. I came with a large group that was seated after we missed our reservation by half an hour. Unfortunately, the service was not great. We had to ask the waiter multiple times for drinks, for utensils, for condiments, and much else. At first, we thought it was a language difference as only about 3 of the 10 spoke Spanish and only 1 of them are fluent. To top it off, despite asking our waiter to confirm ingredients of a chosen dish because we had someone with a food intolerance, we still got a dish that she took a bite of and could taste the ingredient in question. Not only was the waiter not remorseful at such a terrible mistake but we didn't realize until after we'd handed over a card to pay that he had still charged us for the dish that she couldn't eat. Food was fine - we had much more flavorful food from places like La Cuerva del Mar and Metropol Hato Rey. When it came time to pay, the waiter still insisted on getting a full 20% tip in passable English that he had chosen NOT to use the entire night - instead of the 15% and 18% options. More interestingly enough, some of us had put down cash and after I repeatedly told him that the bill itself would be covered by cash and card, he kept asking whether the cash was his tip. It was so shameless that a few of us started to laugh. I don't think I've ever seen anyone act like this - and my little sister and a few of my friends were in the service industry. Needless to say, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to any of my visiting friends (or strangers, hence me posting here) for a sit-down dinner. Look elsewhere! read more

Thoroughly disappointed celebrating my birthday here where Paola, the manager didn't make it special in anyway. We ordered over $200 worth of food and did not appreciate the automatic 20% gratuity added. If you want to celebrate your special day, do not expect anything extra here. Ooooh Luisa is a vibe AND satisfied my appetite for authentic Puerto Rican cuisine! It's definitely date night approved or even if you just wanna dress up nice and feast with your girls but just know it's definitely a notch up from casual dining. Staff is very friendly and even engaged with us to find out where we were from, how our trip was going, and hilariously our server was adamant on taking an usie haha.
