Amazing cherry cookies. Their pigs in the blanket are also good. Too bad they're trying to sell this place as I hate to see them go.

This is a smaller bakery and that said they had a limited amount of options. Sadly, again, there are no gluten-free options. The lady at the counter though was friendly and pointed out a place across the square that had some things. I can't really rate anything as I couldn't eat it but the staff was nice. read more

I admittedly no longer stop at bakeries often, but I picked up 18 pigs for a family gathering on Saturday - they were warm, fresh, and freaking amazing. Hands down, Lukas' Bakery still has the best pigs in a blanket anywhere around. If you are driving through the La Grange area, I PROMISE that these pigs blow both Weikel's and Hruska's pigs out of the water. The people working are always very nice and accommodating, which is always a plus. Don't miss out on this place. read more

Sweet in all the right places. I ordered 6 kolaches -- all flavors except prune even though I am old. I prefer kolaches from Lukas Bakery because they let the filling act in the role of the sweet (or savory) and let the pastry be the delivery system. A+. Same goes for the savory pig in the blanket. A+ Delightful cream puffs follow suit. A+ Coconut macroons are straight up sweet and coconutty (sp)? A Next time I roll by I'll make a special trip & get more and try some of the other offerings. read more

I have many fond memories of these pigs (sausage kolaches). During my childhood, our family of 6 would always stop here on the way to the coast, buy several boxes, then stand outside on the sidewalk and gobble up half of what we just bought. And then when my relatives would come *from* the coast to visit us, we'd beg them to bring some pigs for us. They are different and much more delicious than the sausage kolaches in the DFW area. This was my first time buying them myself and they're still amazing! read more

Such a gem of a bakery in little La Grange, Texas. I enjoyed every cookie they recommended. However, the cherry nut is my personal favorite. My friends and I bought about 7 dozen different flavored cookies for our flight back to San Diego and these cookies made the trip just that much sweeter. read more

I grew up coming here with my dad, as he grew up in La Grange. The sausage kolaches are seriously to die for. I haven't had them in about 5 years and I'm dying to get my hands on them again. This part of Texas was settled by an influx of german and czech settlers, and Lukas Bakery has been making their kolaches for more than 50 years. As a kid visiting grandma in this little Texas town, there wasn't much that was better than their cream puffs and kolaches and home made bread. Everyone in the family had their favorites, for me the apricot and apple kolaches were the best, Dad preferred poppyseed or cheese, and my sister only wanted chocolate cream puffs. Native La Granger's swear by their pigs in a blanket, too. As an adult, I have a little more refined tastes, so really their baked goods would be more in line with 3 stars, but this bakery on the town square is just too original, too genuine to rate any lower. read more

Their doughnuts are amazing so defiantly stop at Lukas bakery doesn't have room to sit but that doesn't matter there food is what makes the whole place what it is so drop and there and get u something good. read more

Lukas Bakery makes the best pigs in a blanket I have ever had. They are made fresh every day by hand with 3 times as much homemade, ground sausage than the typical chain, which uses tiny processed wieners. If you are ever passing by in the mornings stop by and grab a few dozen, you'll want some for the rest of the week/month. And they freeze great! read more

Hubby and I went to 2 Kolache places in LaGrange today. We liked Lukas best. Lukas is located on the historic town square. We loved the fruit filled Kolaches....prune, pineapple, apricot and cherry. The lady behind the counter was so friendly and kind. We got there just before closing and she gave us one for free. We also bought a bag of Wendish noodles that I can't wait to cook. She gave us a recipe that she had developed to cook them. If you to to Lukas, go early as they run out quickly. read more

Great little local bakery. When I first entered the bakery, a sweet little lady in a flour covered apron greeted me. Just like you'd expect. Excellent kolaches and pastries. Try the cherry/pecan/cinnamon roll !! They haven't succumbed to big business, highway advertising tactics to lure customers. They don't accept debit or credit cards - but it's worth the trip to the ATM machine. read more
