Chicken fried steak with fried okra and fries; a single pancake with a fried okra side order.

Great place for breakfast and lunch....food offerings are many and tasty. Chicken fried steak with fried okra and fries is my favorite - it can be ordered with any two sides. Fried okra is cooked to perfection. My wife likes the pancake. The service is exceptional and the place has friendly ambiance. The "sweets" vitrine is inviting but can't eat sweet stuff. Bathrooms are clean. Parking is ok. Suggest using GPS if first time visit.

My friend and I came to Smitty's on a Tuesday afternoon, it was busy but starting to thin out as we dined. It was seat yourself service, but it took us quite a while to receive service or even some kind of recognition (about 15-20 minutes). Our server was an older white woman who was seemingly passive aggressive our entire interaction. It was just strange to see her treat her other tables, who were literally right next to us, with better customer service.... The food was good but I didn't like how the prices were redacted from the menu, and you weren't made aware until it was time to pay. We paid about $43 total (without tip) for one Chicken Fried Steak Plate and one French Toast plate. I would like to say that we were pretty pleasant and polite but our server obviously felt some kind of way about us/me. The other server was really nice though!! (younger lady with dark brownish red hair)

If you're not looking for this place you will drive right by it. Awesome place to slow down and get some home cooked food! Food is amazing and breakfast is served till 3pm. I'm not a breakfast person and my kids made me taste theirs and it was delicious! Kids get a cookie with their meal.

Eggs, sausage, crispy hash browns, a biscuit with gravy.

The food was amazing! The service was great. The ambiance was perfect for breakfast. I recommend ordering the toast with your breakfast. The eggs were cooked to perfection. I waitress, Shelly, was great. I think she's the owner.

This cute cafe and bakery creates delicious comfort food and delicious baked goods. 5/5 The charming interior makes you feel right at home with a large bar and tables and chairs. 5/5 As you enter, make sure to grab a menu and cutlery on the stand before you sit. Friendly staff, food is served on baking sheets, and reasonable prices.

Small town Cafe with scrumptious belly fillin' country food. Quaint and cute with friendly service. Crazy eggs are awesome. Their biscuits are amazing. Great little cafe.

This unassuming renovation of an old gas station is a pleasant surprise if you're in Brendan. The servers are great--friendly, efficient, and sassy, with funny t shirts. But...the food is what really shines. Whoever is back in the kitchen working that fryer really knows their stuff. The fried stuff was perfect--piping hot, crispy, but not greasy. My side salad was gorgeous, and as impressive as entree salads I've had. My "Chicken strips" were more like 2 full breast fillets, and were delicious (even the one I didn't get to for 12 hours!). My companion's chicken fried steak was excellent, he said, as were the perfectly cooked green beans. But...the onion rings!!! To die for. Huge. Crispy. Perfection. I'm just glad this cafe is 100 miles from my home--otherwise I'd be back way too often to this Fried Heaven.

And now I am getting attacked by these people..

The most revolting place I have ever been to! The food was terrible. We waited about an hour to get our food. Others that go there after us got their food before us..We paid and left the food there! Bad Service!!

At least 7 out of the 11 people eating grabbed the Chicken Fried Steak Wednesday Special!

It was $7 for a very large double decked slice. The icing is very good - wish it had a hint of Lemon yo accentuate the flavor profile. The cake itself is dry. I dont taste the lemon, i can see a few signs if lemon zest inside the cake. However, would suggest flavoring the icing to really bring out that lemon flavor and maybe even placing a few fresh blueberries on top. I do however really like that its fresh large blueberries. they are visible and plenty. Going to assume the dryness is just because they were premade and being a festival they had to be cut prior (assuming all prep would have to occur the few days before). Judging by the look im sure a fresh cut piece is much moister. The blueberries were very juicy though and plump, which did add some moisture back in. i'm going to assume the lady running the booth is the owner/Baker, she was super sweet and personable. Great personality! I saw the cake and I'm not usually a cake eater, but I said "there's cake over here" to my group and some guy walking past us said "it's really good cake!" which is what me just go try a piece.

Arguably one of the greatest foods ever invented. Atleast in my world. How can you go wrong with bread filled with sweet or savory fillings? Hruska's is about halfway between Houston and Austin and a perfect rest stop to fill up on gas, use the clean facilities, grab a snack or indulge in their amazing baked goods. They are steeped in history and have been around for decades passing along the family recipes. It's obviously improved structurally over the years from a country store and looks like a modern gas station now. It's always pretty busy every time I have stopped in, but they are a well oiled machine and keep the masses moving with excellent customer service. They have all your gas station essentials like snacks and beverages. What sets them apart is their bakery. Here, they label their kolaches as the traditional fruit filled variety. I like them, but they are never my first choice. I love the ones with meat inside. Here, they label these as pigs in a blanket. They have a large variety of both. I usually go for a regular sausage and cheese, but over here, they sell a delicious pan sausage kind. On top of all their sweet and savory baked goods, they also sell burgers on the grill. Their burgers have made it to the Texas Monthly Top 50 burger spots. I have yet to try it. Overall, this is an always stop place for me. I highly recommend stopping here to stretch your legs and enjoy a delicious pastry while you're at it. I will definitely be back.
