Every time we go on vacation, all year round we know we can count on Truckee-Tahoe Pet Lodge! From the start Gunnar has loved staying at the Lodge! He gets super excited the second we get off the freeway, he drags us in, because he knows exactly where we are! When we pick him up we have one seriously tired pup on our hands! He sleeps the whole 3 hour car ride home and even for a day or two after we get home! We have had him stay at the lodge for varying lengths of time ranging from just an over night stay to up to 2 weeks! And every single time he is a happy boy when we pick him up and completely worn out! He has stayed a couple OTHER places before, places closer to home, and we had trouble with a few things... his high energy being too much to handle as well as him not taking kindly to the owners (never trust anyone a dog doesn't trust, they have great instincts, and I know that now ) ....BUT NOT WITH the Truckee-Tahoe Pet Lodge! This place loves our high energy boy and greets us with a smile every time we come through the door! The staff is super educated, loving and very attentive! There was one time we dropped him off and told them he wasn't feeling well... they kept a close watch on him and was on the phone with us giving us updates on his status and even gave recommendations for a vet visit (well advised, as he was very sick and losing weight quickly). By ALL MEANS, I would TRULY rather drive 3 hours away from home, to drop him off here, and fly out of Reno, for any vacation we go on RATHER THAN leave him ANYWHERE else! WARNING: my dogs almost died here…read more I want other pet owners to know what happened to my two Shih Tzus after staying at Truckee Tahoe Pet Lodge in the month of May WHAT I FOUND AT PICKUP: Both dogs were trembling, dizzy, extremely weak, dehydrated, vomiting, and had diarrhea. They could barely stand. I also noticed an unknown topical substance applied directly to the skin on their backs -- something I never gave permission for and was never told about. A vet later confirmed skin scabs. THE STAFF'S RESPONSE: Nothing. Staff said nothing about their condition and acted visibly nervous. THE COST: $700 in boarding fees, $500 in OTC medicine and supplies to nurse them back to health, and $600 in extra hotel costs because my dogs were too sick to travel home. Nearly $1,800 total. I have filed formal complaints with Animal Control and the BBB. Please, if you love your pets, board them somewhere else.

I went through the reservation system Dena has, which is convenient but intentionally left the additional information about the house sitting blank because I didn't really know the exact information she needed. I anticipated the follow up because I would be a new client and subsequent meet n greets with our pup would be what I thought were apart of the process. Well, she emails me that I didn't complete the additional information and to give her a call. I had a gap in my schedule to call... so I called and her tone is not friendly, she does not answer on behalf of the business so I awkwardly share that I am following up on her email to discuss my service but because I need this done in March she tells me it's faraway so she will call me tomorrow....I'm perplexed with why you would have me call you to just tell me that you'll discuss tomorrow...she reluctantly says OK we can talk about it now. And another comment about how she didn't think I would call so soon. I am not feeling the interaction and let her know to disregard my request because I don't want to proceed with her...and what do you know...she hangs up on me. Minutes later I receive a text that she was on another call and didn't mean to upset me. Uhm, ok? So why answer my call...and just hanging up on me, why not share that you have a call on another line?? Super unprofessional.

Our two dogs were groomed for the third time at Animal Oasis. My daughter and I were pleased until…read morethis last visit with them. Our precious fourteen year old female was called beautiful and had pics taken of passerby's. When we picked her up after her being there for three hours or more ( every visit the same amount of time ) we just wanted to get them home. With her we noticed immediately her " beautiful fan tail " was no more. Her hind leg had been shaved to the bone. The shaver got away from one of their employees and that employee was not honest enough to report it. And if it was reported to his or her employer when we picked up our precious dog the incident was ignored and she was handed over to us like nothing ever happened. Now, a few months later she still has the large bald spot on the back of her hind leg where no hair has grown.. Her tail is completely butchered it hasn't grown out to its " beautiful fan wave" for a Collie after all this time. " I cant imagine what she was put through" being there! Our two year old male dog the most loving ever had his face completely missed his beard went over his lip. I trimmed it myself. I'm grateful our male dog hadn't gone through the trauma our precious female had gone through. I personally feel that someone there ( management) should be taking responsibility by checking while dogs are being groomed by ( newbies ) or any employee in any manner. I feel my female dog was left with a newbie and was not given the attention to this employee that he or she needed with managing. My daughter and I were under the impression that the woman that met us outside( same woman that groomed twice before ) asked how we'd like their grooming taken care of would be the one attending to both our dogs we trusted her grooming since she had done both our dogs twice before and we were happy with their outcome We had made recommendations to friends about Animal Oasis.We put our trust in the woman who greeted us who seemed interested in our concerns towards their grooming. This business failed my dogs and us. We should have looked at the grooming before paying the $100.00 per dog and not given the tips. I've never had to write up a complaint I waited hoping my female dog would grow her beautiful hair back to its original shape " Not" ! The Animal Oasis deserves this complaint. If you go to Animal Oasis after my complaint ask questions like who will be attending fully to my animal and look carefully after the work has been completed to your satisfaction before tipping. Get names, your dog is part of your loving family and should be treated like so.

I can't say enough good things about Buddy. Our dog, Matty, is incredibly sweet and smart, but due…read moreto puppy trauma, can be highly reactive. Matty, has been working with Buddy for several years and today she's a different dog. She does outings 2-3 times per week with the most phenomenal humans on the Buddy team. You should see Matty bound down the stairs to shower them with kisses every time. Likewise, she comes back tired and deliriously happy. But, where Buddy has really helped us is in training, both basic commands and due to safety issues, shock collar training. Lilith, the owner of Buddy, was very concerned about Matty's reactivity and strong prey drive which affected her recall. Lilith knew if she ran off after something like a wild animal, bikers, runners, or other dog, Matty could get gravely hurt or worse. I was very against collar training due to my own trauma where my stepfather would torture our family dog for fun with a shock collar at full capacity when I was a child. Just the mention of a shock collar sent me into tears so when Lilith suggested it, I was highly resistant. However, after much thought and a few sketchy situations on the trail with both bears and other dogs, I finally caved. I felt like I couldn't stomach shocking Matty, but the one thing I really couldn't stomach was losing her. Throughout the training process, Lilith was with me and my husband every step of the way, explaining the process as well as having great empathy for my unique trauma. Slowly, I got used to using it and only had to use the vibrate mode and never the shock setting. My husband had to use the shock once and thankfully Matty is so smart, that imprinted on her so quickly, that vibrate was all that was needed for her to run back our sides when called. It was like walking a different dog and because she loves to please us, I think she was relieved to finally understand what we wanted too. She seemed happier instead of confused. Then, one day I was in the forest and Matty was off leash. I saw her tense up, so I looked off into the bushes. A coyote was stalking us. Matty took off running at full speed. I pushed vibrate. No response as her drive was too intense. They were so fast that they made it into a grove of trees about 100 years away by the time I pressed shock. I heard a yelp and then saw the coyote run out of the trees and up the hill, but no Matty. I feared the worst because of the yelp, but then Matty came trotting out of the trees, wagging her tail. The yelp was from the shock collar which startled her enough to call off the chase (which never would have ended until the coyote ran back to their pack). One could say that the collar saved my beloved dog, but really it was Lilith & the Buddy Team who saved Matty. She was the one who could see that Matty's intense drive could lead her to being hurt, but she loved our dog enough to push me to overcome a childhood trauma in order to keep her safe. I'm forever grateful.

With another dogwalker, she reportedly refused to get out of the car and then sat in the corner at the house - so I was stunned to get video and pictures from her first day with Hassan playing with other dogs and having a 'tail-up' experience at the beach. Hassan was very thoughtful in how he introduced her to his 'pack', which I think sets him apart. We have observed her confidence around other dogs improve, and Hassan gave us a valuable tip that we're using. Thanks to Hassan for helping our pup to thrive.

On an interpersonal level, she is an absolute nightmare to work with. When we dropped our 14 week-old puppy off with her for the first time, we had a miscommunication where she said she was going to take him inside, and then talk to us. She had meant over text, and then came out to yell at us to leave (I think she wanted clean separation when dropping him off for the first time). She then sent us angry texts for the next half hour (see screenshots). We decided we didn't want to work with her, NOT because we had concerns about the care our dog would receive, but because she was so abrasive. That was 200% confirmed when we went to pick him up. She first yelled at me about being paid before she'd release my dog, which I was fine with. I understand that we had booked a slot even though it had only been an hour (why yell though). She had put a special collar on him, and while she was struggling to get it off my dog was screaming in pain the entire time. During this whole process she called me a "dumb fuck" and an idiot multiple times. I was concerned about my dogs safety and only called her "mam" (well..I lost my temper once we finally got him back). There aren't many dog sitters in Tahoe, and my wife and I were very polite to Victoria through the entire process. She was abrasive throughout, which we chalked up to poor communication. After this experience though, I could never recommend her. She seems to take good care of the dogs, but has a few screws loose. I'd avoid this kennel unless you want to be treated this way.

I used Victoria to train my 9 month old pup who didn't listen to me at all (and was honestly kind…read moreof a nightmare). Victoria was a lifesaver! My dog is so well behaved now, she's a changed dog for the better. Initially I was nervous about dropping off my dog to a stranger but quickly learned that my pup LOVED going to Victoria's and she obviously treats all the pups like they're her own. Since training my dog I now drop her off when I'm out skiing or know it's going to be a long day and she always gives my dog a little refresher on her skills she learned with her previously and my dog is always guaranteed to come home exhausted from playing and learning. Couldn't recommend her more. Life is SO MUCH EASIER with a well trained dog!
