Well versed on wines and quick to recommend menu items based on our preferences. Our ordering was somewhat haphazard and one of our party members only had drinks and appetizers, but he rolled with the punches and provided stellar service. We add on the patio, which was charming with twinkle lights and plenty of shade. We came during the height of the summer season, so it was very hot in front of the restaurant, but the patio was noticeably cooler. I would recommend a visit to Dion any time you are in Nevada City.

I would definitely plan on waiting in line on the weekends. They have a self-service waiting list and they will call you - inside or outside- when your table is ready. I had a great experience at Lumberjacks! I ordered the club sandwich, and it was really tasty and fresh. The only small downside was that they went a bit overboard with the cheese. It was a little more than I prefer, but not a big deal--I just took some of it out, and the sandwich was still delicious. The bread was perfectly toasted, and the ingredients tasted fresh, which made it all the more enjoyable. Before my club, I had a small dinner salad, and it was surprisingly good. The greens were crisp, and it came with just the right amount of dressing. It's nice when even a simple side salad feels fresh and isn't just an afterthought. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxed, and it actually reminded me of a place I used to go with my parents when I was younger. There's a comfortable, nostalgic vibe there that made me feel right at home. The service was top-notch too. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure I had everything I needed without being intrusive. All in all, I really enjoyed my visit and will definitely come back next time I'm in town. Our family goes there quite a bit, though my wife and I enjoy the salad bar and the kids are so-so on that, so we sneak there once in awhile. Has always been great food and very eager to please customer service. Don't think they've every been over eager as some can be - just right. Food is fairly consistent, though some of their pictures on the menu don't exactly match what comes to your table! Mostly related to the thin steaks and thin fish fillet's .... really thin! So, might give them 3 1/2 for this, but overall really good. Salad bar good too, usually fresh, though sometimes a bit low on what's there, meaning they don't always seem to keep up with making sure everything is full, but at least it's fresh. Love the welcoming interior and logging motif. Of course, the name is "lumberjacks"! Also love the mostly logging videos and sometimes a baseball or football game. read more

It's very disheartening to me when people write bad reviews on days like today. Lumberjacks is open on all of the major holidays. Their employees work very hard and are not at home with their families, but instead catering to our community when most of the other restaurants are closed. I was there today with my husband, as I am on all the holidays because this is our go to place. I would like to say thank you very much to all of the hard working staff. It was extremely busy there today. The wait at the door was long, the food took longer than usual, but that is to be expected on a day like today when all other restaurants are closed. We were very well taken care of, our food was wonderful as usual, and I just want to tell the owner and the staff that they are very appreciated and are doing a wonderful job. read more

Went into Lumberjacks last Sunday with a couple of my friends it was very busy but we got sat almost right away. Once we were sat we were told our waitress would be right with us and there she came. She took our drink order and got them out to us right away as well as took our food order. I was expecting a little slower service considering how busy they were but everything was fast and fresh which is exactly what i look for in a restaurant. I have reasd some of the other comments on hear and it seems like the only people on this site are the ones unhappy with themselves so they have to make others just as miserable as they are. I strongly suggest Lumberjacks for there extra large portions quick service and great prices. read more

Probably my new favorite place to grab food when I'm in the area! My server, Jeff, made sure my family and I were happy with our meals and checked up on us so frequently! This establishment has some of the best service I've experienced in a while, and that itself justifies my five star rating. However, the food is spectacular as well! Everyone in my family was super full after we left and kept talking about how good the food was on the drive back home. The owner even came over and asked us about our experience so big points for that as well!! He let us know that they had just switched management and interacted with EVERYONE in my huge family! He was so friendly, we will definitely be back again as soon as we can! read more

Came here this morning for breakfast and my girlfriend and I had a great experience. The outside seating was very comfortable. They have a swamp cooler out there and there was plenty of shade. Our server was very attentive and on top of things. I didn't catch her name, but she is very tall and friendly. The other server checked on us frequently too. The food was really good. I also really like how they bring the condiments as togo condiments. Smart idea and seems very sanitary. Both servers were wearing masks and it was overall a very pleasant and clean experience. With stressful times during covid-19, everyone is worried about safety when it comes to their dining experience. I must say Lumberjacks have put all my worries at ease with their health and safety protocol. Their new setup calls for a safe outdoor experience without having to forego the luxury of dining in. All of their employees are wearing masks and sanitizing that meet public health guidelines. We had a really disappointing experience at Lumberjack. We ordered the meat lover's skillet, expecting a generous portion of meat as described and shown in the menu, but what we got was a mountain of potatoes with barely any visible meat. Even after the waitress brought an extra portion, it still didn't match the picture or the description. On top of that, the food quality sucked especially the biscuits, which were flavorless. Went to Lumberjack's some time last week for lunch and about a month ago for dinner the service was awesome, the food was better, and the all around experience was more than I had hoped it to be. It isn't the fanciest place but definatly more comforting and a home like atmosphere. My family and I had a wonderful experience every time and will definatly be back more often! Went to Lumberjacks today and i might say it was extremly excellent. I had the Pulled Pork Sandwich and it was awesome. My waitress suggested this sandwich and what a good idea because you cant go wrong with this one. The only thing i thought was unusual was the cameras all over the restaurant kind of makes you feel like you on a episode of Big Brother. The change in ownership has really stepped this place up. I also had issues with this place before, but seeing all the changes new management has brought definitely changed my mind about things. The salad bar is well stocked. Servers are attentive. Good food and a lot of it. Everything seems clean and it's just a welcoming environment. All waitresses were taking all necessary precautions from masks to sanitizing menus after use. My wife and I have gone to lumberjacks several times and have had nothing but great food and service. There is always something special when you walk in the door and the staff still remembers you from your last visit. I would suggest the chain saw sandwich its awesome.
