Found out about this cafe in Willowbrook after looking up places that have brunch. It turns out there's a few locations around here. Lumes is known as one of the longtime favorites for brunch in the suburbs. A place not just for mornings actually. They also have a few things for lunch. Coming on weekdays is better because it's not as crowded. It's always crowded of course but you actually can find a few seats. The breakfast options are the things most people get from here so most of the menu consists of these. Of course not everyone wants to get it. There's also lunch options like salads and sandwiches. At lunch we got a couple of these items. It's about $15 to get the Power Spinach Salad. A lot comes on it. There's chickpeas, cucumbers, house vinaigrette, onions, parsley, pomegranates, quinoa, and spring mix. Quite enough. The sandwich options include classics like Reubens. Great to come here hungry. It's got a few locations. They're open until the early afternoons so hours are limited which is the only bad thing. read more

Ehhh was ok This was hard to give this review.. I rarely go to new places to do reviews but I thought I'd add this. This was the typical breakfast/lunch place. Mom had their Dutch Baby pancake which was the typical kind. I had their classic panini which looked a lot better than it was. It was very ordinary no flavor or taste to it whatsoever. They should marinate the chicken before cooking?? If I was to go and spend the money again on a basic lunch I'd much rather go to Waffles, Blueberry Hill, or Citrus Diner. It was breakfast- hard to mess up! You walk in and it smells like coffee and pancakes. It's loud and busy, but that's what makes it! The drinks were okay and the food was meh. I received a drink with rotten fruit on it. As well as the fruit on my main plate was furry, molded and gross. Server never came back to check. A woman I'm assuming is the manager walked right by me, noticed me looking around and she walked backwards to check on me. Like didn't hesitate, dead in her tracks, started reversing to me. She asked if it was okay because I hadn't touched it. When she saw the reasoning you could tell she was appalled. She offered a new one and asked if there was anything she could do. I respectfully declined. She comped my entire check and thanked me for still leaving my server a tip. Things happen! For that, I will be retuning. read more

When you first walk in there is a small sitting area and a check in counter. The lady took our name down and said a table for two would be ready in 5 minutes. We ended up waiting at least 10 minutes. We were seated in a comfortable booth and were greeted by our waitress within 2 minutes. She was very nice and took our order. The restaurant is full and it is pretty loud in here. There is no music playing in the background. We must be sitting near the kitchen because you hear lots of plate clinging noises. So I would not recommend this restaurant if you wear a hearing aid. My husband drinks a lot of water When we dine out, we always ask for a carafe or pitcher but she says they don't have any here. But the waitress did gave him a large cup which was nice. They have high chairs stacked in the corner. There was a family with a strolled parked by their table so there is plenty of room for that and I love that this restaurant is family friendly. There are plenty of table options. Booths, square tables that seat 4, round tables that seat 5 and a long booths against the wall with several small tables with chairs on the opposite side of the table that can seat a group of 10 or 5 individual couples. My husband ordered the Corned Beed Hash and eggs and loved it! Definitely worth the $14 price tag! I ordered the American cheese and protein skillet. It was really good! I chose the turkey sausage and eggs over easy. You get 4 eggs and lots of turkey sausage cup up into bit sized pieces. The pancakes have powdered sugar on them and are pretty large! The food taste really good and is definitely worth the money! We both left the restaurant full and satisfied and definitely recommend dining here if your in the area looking for a breakfast or lunch place! read more

Today was the first time my wife and I went to Luke's. I had the steak and eggs. My wife ordered blueberry cheesecake and that were as dry as cardboard. She couldn't eat them. You'd think the Waitress take it off the bill but she didn't. I complained at the cashier but they didn't care. I will NEVER go back there and wouldn't recommend anyone go there. They don't know what customer service is and don't do the right thing.. that's my two cents. Take it for what you will. read more

Wonderful breakfast with my daughter! Light fluffy pancakes and a huge omelette! She had the veggie skillet and it was huge and tasty as well. We came here early morning and the restaurant was pretty empty and we were seated immediately. I had the florentine benedict and a 1/2 order of biscuit and gravy, husband had a skillet and I got a kids meal with a little bit of everything for my toddler. Holy moly, the portion sizes here are huge. I've never had a benedict with 3 eggs or a skillet with 4 eggs! My daughter's kids meal was more than enough food for an adult. Prices are decent, so I guess it's a good value since you do end up with leftovers for another meal. I thought the biscuit and gravy was too salty so I probably won't order that again. Pretty good customer service. The place is spacious and clean. The menu isn't too overwhelming, I would like to see more options for non meat eaters but other than that they have a good variety of breakfast and lunch. I would go here for a business meeting or a lunch date with a friend. I definitely would go back. The food was ok, it wasn't bad. I ordered the buttermilk pancakes and smoked salmon toast. The pancakes were ok, I enjoyed the smoked salmon toast. I would order the toast again, I'm obsessed with smoked salmon *sigh*. I wanted to try the Dutch baby but on the menu it said it would take a while to cook and we didn't have a lot of time to spare so I opted for regular pancakes. We came at about 10:45 on Sunday. Was quite busy which is to be expected. I got the signature waffle, 5/5 stars. My boyfriend got the apple orchard turkey sandwich with waffle fries. 3/5 stars, turkey was very dry. Was pretty loud in there especially being seated by a party but we were sat in a booth and people watching during our wait. On a trip to Chicago I was looking for a place to fill our stomachs before we adventured through the city. The reviews for Lumes seemed solid so we gave it a try. The staff come across as a very mom and pop, super friendly, happy to make recommendations and knew the menu very well. The layout looked more chain (in a good way) very spacious and clean, efficient. Their menu created and issue because everything looked amazing and they had rotating specials on top of that. I ordered the spartan omelette which came with pancakes or toast and hashbrowns. I went with the pancakes. My only complaint was that I wish I could have ordered a half size!! You definitely get your moneys worth and it was so good. My boyfriend got the pumpkin pancakes which was a special and oh my they were heaven. We were both so full when we left and at a reasonable price. They do have a spacious parking lot and are only open til mid afternoon. The eggs were actually 4 which I wish they wouldn't do. I know they are small but 4 eggs are a bit much. The corn beef hash I couldn't eat because it was minced and hard to chew I bypassed it. My husband had the eggs, ham, pancakes and hash browns. The star of the meal was the pancakes. My husband me so we shared; the ham was good and next time I'll order the pancakes and request only one or two eggs. There was a lots of food! More is not always better! I will also try their lunch at another time. I hope they consider a senior menu or smaller meals. Offer more options for food portions! Cost was $15.00 for the meal. Give it a go!!! read more

Sad to say.... been waiting to try this place... and I was just so disappointed today I ordered corned beef hash omelette and was really forgettable. I envisioned it to be meaty and hearty but was the complete opposite. Pancakes that came with, are flat and not fluffy. Coffee flavored creamer was not given freely, you need to ask for it. Came in today on a Wednesday for brunch. It wasn't busy at all! (Taking note that I came on a weekday.) I was seated upon arrival. I had an amazing server, who did a great job! He was also bilingual and helped me out translating to my aunt that was visiting from Mexico. It's a really nice setting! Now the food was SO tasty and delicious. We really liked it! I had an avocado toast w an egg, brioche French toast and omg, everything was just great! They have various options for the kids which I LOVE (I have a son.) & my aunt was super satisfied w her plate. As well as my boyfriend. We ALL loved our dishes and the amount they serve you is enough to share honestly! I had to take my brioche French toast home. The coffee was your typical diner food but the food was slightly above your typical diner breakfast.
