I went into Lumin for my complementary wash and an employee named Tracey was sooooo helpful during my visit. Not only is she kind, she offered me soap and fabric softener and informed me the XXL 80 pound washers can fit multiple comforters. She then offered to help us load! The customer service is amazing and I appreciate Tracey's above and beyond customer service and Arne for allowing me to try Lumin again with some support. Highly recommend this business!!!

Unfortunately, my last visit was not great: only a handful of their machines were in working order. A couple of the larger capacity washers didn't wring out the laundry and my items (including some blankets and sheets) were soaked with water; I ended up wringing them out by hand to the best of my ability. I had limited time that day as I was preparing for a house guest that was arriving later in the afternoon. I did not budget an extra hour or more for adding washing time in different machines to properly wring the laundry out. Nor did I budget for doubled or tripled dry time either. The attendant offered me extra dry time and comped some of the washes that did not wring my laundry out well enough, which I appreciated. However, with the amount I paid it feels like a rip off since I ended up having to leave and finish drying at my apartment building. Some of the items had to be hung to dry because the dryers at my building are not large enough to dry blankets. That was one of the main reasons I opted to visit the laundromat.. to wash and dry my blankets and bedding quickly, which I used to do at Aurora Clean Express without issue. I'm confused as to why none of the machines are being serviced, cleaned or repaired. I was under the impression that laundromats are highly profitable. Not only is it a bummer to lose a convenient laundromat, but this has to be terrible for their employees too. I really hope the owner can turn things around and rebuild their business as I would like to keep going there and supporting their awesome team. The manager, Bradley is kind and the woman working on Sunday was so helpful. They deserve better!

I've tried twice now to book a wash and fold service with them in my area in California. Upon initially finding this company, I was surprised and intrigued by the convenience of their website, the services they offer, and the quick turn around. Upon booking my first order (which by the way, they charge the full amount ahead of time even asking if you'd like to tip the driver), the entire order was confirmed and then cancelled the next day due to the holiday. Fine. I was shocked to see the date even available two days before a holiday but I went ahead and booked it anyways. I received a cancellation the next day and a refund several days later. I decided to give it another go a week later. I booked my service again with the same requests. I packaged my laundry and left it as instructed in a garbage inside my business which is open from 9-5. I scheduled a pickup time of 12-2. 2:30, 3 rolls around and no one has shown up to pick up the order. I decided to call the customer service number listed on their website as I'm not apt to wait for an email response (considering I never got a response to my initial consultation request). While the agent was very friendly and communicative, nothing was resolved or reasoned. In fact, he informed me that he spoke with the driver who claimed he had already came to our business. That was just a bold faced lie. After waiting on hold for believe it or not 45 minutes for the agent to "communicate with the driver on when he was going to be able to come back", I finally let the agent know that I would just like to cancel the entire order and get a refund. At this point, it was just an extreme inconvenience for me to have my dirty laundry sitting out for the better half of the day and it was just a waste of time. All in all, I 100% do not recommend this company and honestly, I'm not entirely sure any of the reviews from their website or google review page are real. Take it from me who's someone completely new to this business model, I suggest you look elsewhere and do not waste your time with them. They've made no efforts to gain me as a customer, which is just a shame since I was intending on utilizing them commercially for my business. I'll be taking my business elsewhere. UPDATE per company's response: The agent did NOT inform me that the only time a driver is in my area and is able to pick up at my business is 8 AM. I let them know that I had been open from 8:30-5. Also, should that have been the case, there should be no options for scheduling a time slot for pick up and drop off. Still, not my fault. Additionally, they did not offer to come back the next day and the reason I was on hold for 45 minutes was because the agent was allegedly trying to get ahold of the driver. It was NEVER communicated to me that that driver would be able to come back. I only requested a refund after waiting patiently on hold for 45 minutes. This outcome is truly disappointing and I simply can't be made out to be the one at fault. This should've been handled differently and it was a complete miscommunication and negligence on the company's fault and I refuse to be made to look dumb. Also beware- this company has attempted to leave several negative reviews defaming my business from accounts that are completely made up with people that have never been to our business and have never gotten their hair done with any of our stylists. It's truly sad that rather than attempting to make it right, they've resulted to this. I suggest they focus a little more attention on customer satisfaction than creating fake yelp reviews to attempt to discredit other reputable businesses in our communities.

They kept on hassling me about my clothes and texting me for approval for new costs. The texting person gave me an estimate and sent me like over 10 photos of my clothes to point out all the stains and hair that was on my clothes and repeatedly told me my clothes were wrinkled and very dirty. This was unnecessary and made me feel attacked and shamed. Like WTF?? I just wanted them to clean my clothes not pick faults with me! Instead, they acted like they were taking me to court! So much unnecessary stress and hassle for dry cleaners! They ended up charging me over $50 more than originally estimated because my clothes were oh so hard to clean and so dirty. Despite going over the original estimate, they still hassled and tried to guilt me for tip at the end saying they gave me a deal. What deal? Your services are super expensive! The tone they texted me was just so very rude it's like they didn't want me as a customer. I never fought them on the expensive costs but they were hostile from the start. I ended up going back to my previous dry cleaners, City Custom Tailor & Dry Cleaners in Belltown. They are not cheap either, but a little less expensive and they are chill. I do not think cheap dry cleaning exists in Seattle but this service sucks.

It is absolutely within my rights to leave a 1-star review as a reflection of my experience with a business's subpar communication. If you look at the other low reviews for this business, you'll see a pattern of poor communication skills. Service isn't just left at the product. It goes all the way to effective communication, of which this business has none, other than to double down and defend themselves anytime someone has criticism.

I've only brought items to John's a few times to be cleaned--it's a very convenient location for me and their prices are a little lower than other cleaners nearby. I do like the mom and pop feel of the place, being a small business owner myself, but I think their tradeoff is in the quality of the cleaning--and they also recently lost one of my favorite shirts. I'll be sure to update it in my review if it gets found, but I'm not holding out hope. I likely won't be returning. read more

Very clean. Washers hold 5 times a normal load for a reasonable price. All machines are fast. The staff is very kind and helpful. You can tell John loves his business and takes a lot of pride in his establishment and customers. Would definitely recommend for anyone who needs an easy in and out laundromat for a fair price. :) read more

This was true even when I tried phoning her as the texting was extending over days (from Friday to Monday to Sunday). I understand that scheduling can be tricky. However, I kept asking to be scheduled and to be given the updated pricing. My feeling was that they were simply too busy to bother or their communication skills were subpar. When the pricing came through, the $50 travel fee became $75 ten minutes later. Yesterday I wrote a 5 Star Review for a local business. I don't think I've ever written a one star review before. However the defensiveness and mansplaining I received has led me to understand that this business has changed, and not for the better. I write this after no less than 20 messages from the business. Update: the owner has called me and texted me that they have "remained courteous" which is not my complaint. My complaint is that they were not communicating well. I am happy to share my text chat to prove it. "Revision on trip charge to $75 since it increased in 2020." This came in less than 10 minutes after a $50 charge was told to me. Finally, it was 2023 when I last worked with them as is seen on my last review of this business.
