I have gone to LUMIX a lot because my sister loves this place. For me, I always have to ask the person to add extra seasoning or garlic butter to it to taste better. When the person does it then it's good. The soda is always flat & nasty tasting. So we ordered bottles. We actually had a good time. We had 4 kids dinners and 4 adult dinners and it was $300 don't know if that's good or not. But that's what it was. What upset me the most is that after paying I got the receipt that said I can get rewards. He asks me for my number for the rewards then tells me since I paid already I start at 0. Which annoyed me I spent 300 and you mean you can't give me the points? And if I was already a rewards member you didn't ask me before I paid so that I can add that to my rewards. Went there last Saturday with my family to celebrate my mother's birthday. Place was nice overall, clean and easy to get to. Started off with drinks, $10 for a bottle of Saki was nothing to complain about and the beers were not out of budget either, my sisters and mom ordered margaritas and they seemed great with their choice since more than one was ordered. Food was absolutely delicious, the chef was very entertaining. Overall service was great, got our drinks when we ordered such I rolls came out pretty quick and our party was never left unattended. Came here last month with my friends. It was my first time coming here, my friend said she really enjoys the service and food here so I was down to join. Cold, cold, cold. They sat us a few tables away from the door but the entire restaurant was cold, people sat with winter coats on. We opted for hibachi dishes at a regular table and it was very over cooked and not even hot. Medium well steak does not mean burnt and dry! On top of all that they included their gratuity for our small party of 2. I went to the restroom and had no choice but to wash my hands with cold water and a hand dryer shooting out cold air after sitting on this cold place for so long. Is the heating broken? If you see customers eating in their coats turn the heat up. Bottom line, you should only come here for hibachi at a hibachi table. Regular seating is not worth it. read more

I haven't been to LUMIX in about two years. I sat at the bar and ordered and wowww they have completely fell off , the taste, the quality, and the service... I ordered the Salmon Teriyaki with fried rice it comes with vegetables and an option of soup or salad, I ordered the Miso Soup(hard to mess up the soup, so that was decent ). The salmon was practically inedible, overcooked, dried, and hard to eat... absolutely terrible and the teriyaki sauce I'm still trying to figure out what that was, so flavorless. The vegetables I understand the broccoli is blanched but the veggies were barely properly steamed cooked and they were cold when they served me my plate which leads me to believe they were undercooked to begin with. The fried rice was cold, also no flavor and barely complimented the meal. This experince was unfortunate because this is not what I remembered LUMIX to be. Oh and due to it being Lent, I asked the bartender Jie for a mocktail. At least he was honest in saying he didn't know what it was or how to make one. At that point, I just asked for water. Salmon Teriyaki entree total:$ 26.07. Not bad but since the food was so terrible I couldn't help but wonder what did I spend my money on. Yuck! Not a fan at all. I was extremely disappointed in the drinks the watermelontini. Tasted like pure sour mix. Tried the Mango martini too sweet, it was worse! Ordered the combination entree chicken and shrimp. An order of tempura which was mushy and cold. The miso soup was ok, it really was the only thing I felt was edible. I am happy that they wash the lettuce but the amount of water in the bottom of my bowl I could have done a load of laundry. It was not appealing. My friend got the spicy tuna sushi , so hot it was barely edible. Barely put the spoon in my soup and the entree showed up. It sat for ten minutes as I watched it go cold before my eyes. I swore I ate a scallop or the chicken was that bad. I come here a lot for there happy hour and sometimes for dinner. It's busy and noisy on the weekend but the food always hits never have an issue always love the food. The duck fried rice and there sushi rolls soo good! I love getting a roll and the fried rice with a glass of wine and when I'm feeling myself I get there mai tai. Quick pick me up at Lumix in Lynbrook! Popped in the grab a quick soup, salad and a roll...15mins later during a still fairly busy dinnertime in the 8p hour I was out the door and on my way home to enjoy. The Miso soup is pretty mild and definitely palette pleasing for anyone willing to try. So don't be scared if you need that little something to warm you up. For $3 you can't go wrong with this soy bean brothy goodness. Followed this up with a Kani salad. For those that don't know what that is when glancing at menu, know it's traditionally crab or imitation crab and cucumber mixed with mayonnaise, rice wine vinegar and paprika ginger. How Lumix differs from other locals selling same/similar is that they julienne cut there cucumber (so it's more than just minced bits like others) and mix it with crab strands and add panko flakes. Feel like this does a couple of things: 1) Keeps to a Japanese way of trying to have balance. So in this case the mix of soft crab with crunchy cucumber. 2) Binds it with panko as to soak up excess liquids and soften the dish so it's not too moist/runny, but rather very airy, fluffy feeling. My taste buds didn't know how to feel other than a bit confused. I kept asking self do I love having this added filler?!? Didn't not love it, just gave it a more salad like feel I suppose. Nevertheless, final drumroll please for the Spicy Girl Roll. Can't go wrong, since I just painted my nails Hot Pink prior...had to keep in theme of the day, well and with my inner self I suppose. :) Really though you can't go wrong as the combination of Spicy crunchy Tuna, Yellowtail on the inside topped with Spicy crunchy Salmon on top, is such a soft and delicate way to end the meal. Not to mention a touch of caviar I believe on top to finish off the look and design. We eat with our eyes right?! Again the combination was well balance and really not spicy at all. I did add a bit of heat with some fresh ginger and wasabi. :) All in all a great experience from them since I haven't dined there in awhile. Glad to see that they continue to flourish in our close local community. The only thing that has changed is price increase, but only a touch .50 - $1 more on items across the board that I would have paid for in the past. The quality of the food has and trendy lounge atmosphere has been maintained. Next time maybe I finally try their Hibachi side of the menu. read more

So this "hostess" grabbed me & physically tried to take my phone away today, then stood in the doorway blocking my exit. The backstory- At 2:15 my father called to order sushi & was told 45 min. for delivery. At 3:15 we called to ask the status of our order & were told they wouldn't have a driver for another 25 minutes but someone could pick it up. He angrily asked why no one told us that before, said fine, & hung up. I went to pick up the food only to be told the driver left with our order. Instead of apologizing for any miscommunication, she rudely says she doesn't know what my father was so upset about, we just need to understand the restaurant doesn't open till 3pm. I said someone should have simply said that when the order was placed. She rudely repeated that we were in the wrong. I asked if she ever heard the phrase the customer is always right. She responded by yelling at me. I said excuse me are you yelling at me?! She said I was too uneducated for her to speak to me. I demanded to speak with a manager. She said there was none. I asked her name. She refused to tell me. So I took her picture. The she ran out from behind the counter and grabbed me, trying to take my phone, told me I was a "Fitch" and followed me outside, taking photos of me with her own cell phone. She's lucky I didn't call the Lynbrook police. We LOVE the food here but I'll never eat here again. read more

I haven't gone to LUMIX for about 2 years and it was because of service on a Valentines Day night in the past. I cannot express the joy I got seconds after walking in and getting hands down the best service in a restaurant for the week. Their attention to detail seemed like a steady chugging machine where everyone on the line pulled their part to please the customer. It's hibachi man who would have thought. 1 the greeting at the door 2 the breakdown of the new set up due to Covid and glass shield placement 3 the waiter took out order in less than 8 minutes and we had food in front of us in less than ten Some folks know what they want and it's dinner time (great job) 4 the little show it never gets old to me and my kids 5 FRESH SUSHI options that are custom made just right up my ally!! 6 it's quick and seamless and like I said there where servers, chefs, and hostess and even the two guys cleaning the table in the end were like have a nice night. This restaurant is nothing special. If you are not a local resident there is no real reason to come here. I have been to much better Hibachi locations. There COVID precautions were subpar. There was no temperature check upon entry. There was no social distancing at the Hibachi tables. They sat another couple right next to us (only separated by a chair). There was limited capacity so the restaurant was not crowded. The staff wore mask but did not have on gloves. I did not see sanitizing between customers. Ordered the chicken and scallop combination- very tasty and of course big portions. Their sushi was terrible. For my first time going to Lumix from a Benihana fan. The food Benihana takes it because it seems better put together. As for taste , it's definitely saltier. They put a lot of soy sauce in ther fried rice. Benni taste better but not by a lot. The atmosphere goes to Lumix. Maybe because it's smaller it seems cozier. I like ther bathroom set up. The performance is a tie. They both do the volcano and the cho cho train but Benihana did the heartbeat, the shrimp flip int the hat and pocket. Ther alittle more engaging with the table. Hostess was a bit standoffish, she also kept thinking we were with a large group behind us and asked us 3 times if we were with them after we told her no. We were seated finally, we ordered a drink which was terrible (French Connection) but it tasted like cough medicine. We also ordered some crispy rice sushi roll with tuna which was delicious. Everyone got the hibachi meals so we got the whole show as well, we asked for extra teriyaki sauce multiple times and didn't receive it until we were just about done eating. The hibachi show and drinks (Mai Tai) at Lumix is consistently good. However there is a lady server there (slender and tall) with a very nasty attitude. Last night was my second time dining with my family there and it was the second time the family next to us complained about her. I recently visited Lumix to celebrate my birthday. Not my first choice, but I was with my children and I wanted them to be entertained. The restaurant was completely empty so we were seated quickly. I wasn't sure if it was empty because it was a weekday, or because it was cold outside or if it was something else. After our experience, I'm thinking that it was empty because of the service and food. The chef who came to our table was entertaining and engaging but the food was tasteless outside of soy sauce. I haven't been in awhile, but the food seems to have gone down in quality. Medium steak was well done.. and the shrimp were tough. The kicker for me was that when we received our bill it was missing the promo of 20percent off for being seated before 5. When I brought it to the servers attention, she argued with me about the time. Unacceptable. I'm here to spend my money, but also here for the offered promotions. She then proceeded to laugh with her co-workers while I stood there waiting for an answer. It was fixed eventually but it left a foul taste in my mouth. LUMIX has a great ambience it's slightly noisy so if you are looking for an intimate dinner this is not the place but the rolls are good I had the yummy roll and the American dream and they were yummy lol. It's also a hibachi spot and well the people there seemed to be having a great time definitely will try one night. Had the fried ice cream it was also very good and I enjoyed the perioquette on top.
